Hey friends!
Yiddishland California is a cultural center and museum that puts on excellent classes and events, including Yiddish Theater classes, Intermediate Yiddish reading circles, and even beginner's Yiddish yoga! They are committed to keeping the wonderful and vibrant language alive, including the culture and community that surrounds the language.
They are in trouble! There was some sort of issue with being able to stay in their location, so they need to raise $100k by the end of the month to stay open!
Please join me in donating (Here). I gave my tzedakah this month to them, and I hope you do too!
If you're in the Southern California area, they're having a relocation party on January 21st, 2024 from 5-8pm. Come visit to see great art and support such a great organization!!
For the rest of us that can't get down to California and want to support not just by donating, please consider buying something from their Etsy shop! They have a bunch of rare books and vinyl and your purchase will help the organization!

the number one most interesting analysis anyone ever made about the legend of korra is that the benders in republic city were clearly an oppressed and exploited population. NOT the non-benders. and therefore the equalists are nothing more than essentially a nazi party or kkk or other hate group that likes to masquerade itself as the victims to a scapegoat minority that is somehow a danger to normal people in order to oppress and eradicate them.
the most compelling evidence that benders actually represent and function as marginalized people is that they occupy characteristic marginalized roles in society. organized crime, factory laborers, pro-sports, music and film entertainment. (ESPECIALLY the more physically taxing high impact sports such as boxing and football!! the fighting ring nature of pro-bending absolutely reflects this. this is no golf tournament). with those roles that offer any hope of upward mobility being limited to only a few and as inherently exploited by producers as it is. or otherwise abject poverty in city slums.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
non benders such as Mr. Sato own large successful corporations. benders do labor for him. benders do cheap manual labor for low pay in the early 20th century steampunk metaphor city and live in slums. while the ruling class non-bender turned out to be a raging bigot funding the equalist "movement"
Tumblr media
so when korra yells at the equalist cunt doing a little infowars rant in the park and tells him to "shut up" and "im not oppressing you!! you're oppressing yourself" and everyone got mad at her for on tumblr being a bigot you were all wrong she was out there tearing down the zionist missing person propoganda posters before i even knew what the IDF stood for she was the fucking legend forever
Tumblr media
AND she said acab !!!

I've written a musical, and I could use your support!
The last year of my life has been crazy, and amidst the chaos and conference calls with the grim reaper, I have written a musical. It's about the summer of 1816 at the Villa Diodati, where Mary Shelley wrote Frankenstein, accompanied by several of her contemporaries, including the notorious Lord Byron.
I'm trying to do something a little different with my musical writing career, and make the process of bringing this thing to stage- from the composition to the performance- transparent to the public. Theatre is a weird mix of visual art, writing stories, and of course, music; as such, it's a complex beast that I'd love to explore with you! It's normally very insular, with things being very secretive, but I want to change that. I want to show you, uh... behind the curtain... literally.
So! Please consider joining my Patreon (this link right here) so that you can help support a creator who's trying to do things a little differently (a neurodivergent, disabled, jewish, queer, female creator, I might add lol- I check a lot of boxes). There's already quite a bit posted, and I'm adding more at every step of the production!
When I've reached $100 per month of support, I'll hold a one time livestream for all of my patrons, where I'll share with you all my favorite tracks from the show, and have a little Q&A about the show, my career, and frankly any other burning questions you all might have.
Thanks for reading, and have a lovely day!
Cash, the composer
PS- if you aren't sure, or can't afford it, that's ok! You can do a week long free trial, and even if you don't continue after, reblogging this post does a lot to spread the word. :)

"SOVIET'S CULTURAL EMISSARIES ARRIVE IN TORONTO," Toronto Star. September 3, 1943. Page 4. --- Prof. Solomon Michoels, the Soviet's greatest dramatic actor, and Lieut.-Col. Itzik Felfer, Russian soldier-poet, arrived by plane in Toronto last night for a Jewish anti-Fascist rally in Maple Leaf gardens Sept. 8. They have been received with wide acclaim in the U.S. where they have been spreading the gospel of Anti-Fascism. Prof. Michoels walked with a crutch due to a leg injury caused when a platform collapsed in Chicago under the weight of a welcoming crowd.

i have to be honest. i would simply not have agreed to a loan if the condition for not repaying by the specified date were a pound of my flesh. i must tell the truth in that i would have avoided all of that entirely.
