Looking for Alaska
Where to start?
Looking for a Alaska is a coming of age romance book written by Jhon Green, author of books such as:
- The foult in our stars
- Paper towns
- An Abundance of Katherine’s
- Will Grayson will Grayson
- Turtles all the way down
We decided to read or re-read this books because we are both really big fans of it, as well as having previously read other books by Jhon Green.
Valeria:
I have read all of Jhon Green books except for his last release “The Anthropocene Reviewed”. Every time I have really enjoyed them since I find it easy to relate to his characters. My forever favorite will always be “Paper Towns”, however “Turtles all the way down” and “Looking for Alaska” are a close second.
Sofia:
Let’s talk business…
The book is narrated by Miles, who starts of this story by telling us how he had really REALLY low expectations for his Good-bye party, we learn that he is in fact not popular at his current school (unlike what his parents thought)
His parents get to see what Miles goes through socially when only two people show to the Goodbye party. And even though his parents think this is the reason he is going away for college, the real reason is because Miles just want to find new things in life.
Miles talks a lot about famous people and their last words and quote them. When he gets to school he meets his roomate, Chip.
Chip is the typical roomate who becomes best friends with Miles, in the books he is really funny, and rather then being called by his name, he and other call him The Colonel, which ends up giving Miles a nickname too, Pudge.
Right after, Miles meets Alaska, shes just special. And Miles and Alaska get to talk during the first day b y the lake about famous people and authors and quotes.
Thats what we've read so far, we´ve got to know the characters and how they interact with each other. I can't wait to see how their dynamic develop through the book because we've seen a lot of differences from when we read it in spanish than now reading it in English.
This is Alaska in the show Looking for Alaska :).

Soul speak part.2
John and jason sat in the justice league's main conference room. "What do you think is going to happen?" Hood asked looking at the blond. "No fucking clue I tried to dig up stuff on this guy but I didnt find out much, just that he's been king for the past 10 years" Constantine muttered while lighting a cigarette. "Well you sold your soul to the guy so I get why he wants to talk with you, but what does he want from me?!" Jason sighs.
Jason is agitated, he dosnt understand what this ghost king wants from him. "I dont know red hood mabey it's because you died and came back to life, dont lie I can tell, you have the stench of death on ya" Constantine says blowing smoke from his lips. "You are suposed to be dead, not sure how you came back or how ya died but you arnt supposed to be breathing right now." John continued "and this king phantom is upset that I'm still alive or something?" Jadon asked and Constantine just shrugged mummblinging a mabey.
The door to the room slid open. Constantine and red hood felt a cold chill go up their spines. They turned their heads to see a kid that looked like one of the bats brood walk in, he had coal black hair and ice blue eyes. He was tall about a few inches taller than both john and jason. But he was still young looking, around late teens to early twenties.
They just watched the young man walk in front on them pull a projector from who knows where and plug it in. He turned it on, and on the wall of the room seemed to be a Google slide show presentation labelled, ghost adoption/how to form and keep your baby ghost core healthy.
"Ok so let's get this started shall we" the boy says turning to the other men in the room. "Excuse me who are you" Constantine asks flatly a puff of smoke leaving his lips "john Constantine, I know it's been a month but I know I'm not that forgettable" he replied smiling flashing them with his too sharp teeth, his eyes flashing green.
"What how are you-" jhon was cut off "alive? Well I'm not, not really anyway" the boy says tilting his head lightly unblinking at the men. "Wait your the ghost king. Are you possessing that kid or something" hood glared at the demon/ghost/thing. "No I'm not overshadowing , this is my body, you see I'm only half dead, but that's a story for another time, I'm here for in right now" phantom says still starring unblinkingly.
"Why are you in this form and not your other form?" John asked the king. "because it's less of a mind fuck, now" phantom says and clicks the next button on the presentation "let's talk about how we are going to form your ghost cores shall we".
"What are you talking about?" Hood snaps, annoyed "why am I here? Do you want to finish me off or some shit? Collect my soul?!" Hood interrogates green sleeping into his vision. Phantom looks at him walks over to where hood is seated and places his hand on his shoulder. "You are here because you are a starved baby ghost with anger issues, well halfa that hasnt formed a core yet".
John looked at phantom "and why am I here?" "Because you have a core, but it's very unhealthy, and to talk about how I kinda ghost adopted you" phantom supplied. John and jason where so confused "now back to the slides" phantom says. They then spend 3 hours and a half talking about ghost cores, ghost adoption, and how to keep ghost cores healthy.
On the flip side danny is also considering fighting batman for custody for red hood. He'll have to talk to sam and tucker first though. Sam was pretty upset he adopted john without informing them first. Not that he originally knew he ghost adopted him. I mean what was danny suposed to do with Constantine's soul eat it?

A Cosmos In The Sand
Chapter 12
WARNING: PHYSICAL ABUSE
Raven rode comfortably on the camel, resting against Damian occasionally. Her mind was still spinning from the information she learned the night before. Themyscira was still around! And, there was a reason Raven had never been able to locate it with her powers. "The entire perimeter is surrounded by iolite," Damyan explained the night before. "When Slaede began searching for every bit of iolite in the kingdom, my grandfather immediately ordered his men to begin mining."
"Damyan's grandfather had access to his own iolite mine," Jhon added.
"I remember grandfather's men mining for months," Damyan said.
"And Themyscira?" Raven asked.
"A safe haven for those running and hiding from Slaede," Damyan paused, debating whether to continue. "They've created a resistance. We're going to dethrone Slaede."
"Are you okay?" Damyan asked as they came across a caravan.
A shudder worked its way through Raven's body when she felt his breath on her ear. "Um…yeah," Raven answered.
"Do you need water?" Jhon looked up at her with his large eyes.
"I'm fine. I'm – Viktor!" she screamed. Damyan and Jhon followed Raven's gaze, and Damyan's jaw dropped. A dark-skinned man beamed at her. "Hey, Rae!" the man beamed at her, "thank the gods I found you."
"Wait," Damyan frowned. "How are you not dead?"
Maya sat on the floor of Slaede's children's prison, arms wrapped around herself, tears in her lime green eyes. "Maya! Maya!" several voices screeched, running to her. Maya turned to look at the other prisoners, her siblings. "What happened?" a small child asked. "You've been gone for forever."
"Why are you wearing fancy clothes?" another child asked.
"What did Slaede want?" an older girl asked.
"Raven is missing," Maya cried. A chorus of 'oh no' echoed in sparsely furnished room.
"What is Slaede going to do?"
"I don't know," the words barely left Maya's mouth when the door slammed open. One of Slaede's personal guards stormed in and grabbed Maya's upper arm. "What's wrong?" Maya asked in horror.
"The king wants to see you," he gruffly replied.
"But…I just left him," Maya said as the soldier nearly dragged her way.
"Let's go."
Maya hit the floor with a thud. The palace physician was there as well. She looked up at Slaede with tears in her eyes. "I know the exact number of soldiers in this castle," Slaede didn't turn to look at Maya. He looked down at the city below. "I know the names of my personal and secondary guards." Maya trembled as Graent walked slowly towards her. "My mind has been so addled lately, I didn't realize until moments ago that something slipped my attention." Slaede turned to Maya. "Raven's personal guard, Viktor. He'd been mortally wounded, close to death. I didn't think to check on him because the physician could do nothing for him. Moments ago, the physician said not only had Viktor made a miraculous recovery, but he was also missing." Slaede glared down at the young, trembling sorceress. "I'm sure Raven has told you – no one gets healed in my castle without my say-so." Slaede squatted in front of Maya, and his glare hardened. "You healed him, and now he's missing. Where is he, Maya?"
Tears fell from Maya's eyes. "I-I-I don't know what you m-m-mean," she stuttered.
Slaede stood to his feet with a sigh. He then glanced at his son over Maya's head. A pain exploded in the back of Maya's head, and she cried out. "Ow." Her vision momentarily blackened as her head hit the floor. Graent walked around to stand in front of her, wiping the butt of his sword, smirking down at her. Maya placed a hand to the back of her head and slowly withdrew it. She gasped when she saw it was covered with blood.
"I don't take kindly to betrayal," Slaede said, "I'll only ask once more. Where is Viktor?"
"I don't know," Maya cried.
"How did you get to Viktor's body?"
"I – I – "
"How did you get to Viktor's body? How'd did you even know he was injured?"
"I – I heard the soldiers talking when the castle was in lockdown," Maya cried.
"How did you get out of your room?"
"I – I picked the lock."
Slaede looked at Graent. Maya's vision went white, and the right side of her face went numb as Graent backhanded her. "Tell the truth," Slaede ordered calmly.
"I am," Maya sobbed.
"Who taught you?" Slaede demanded to know.
"I-I taught myself."
Slaede looked at Graent again.
"I swear I'm telling the truth!" Maya cried out as she brought her hands up to block an oncoming blows.
Slaede held up his hand, stopping Graent mid-swing.
"All we do is sit around and have visions," Maya cried, "I taught myself because I was bored."
"Why did you heal Viktor?"
"He's always nice to us."
"Tell me everything you discussed."
"I revived him. H-h-he said someone had taken Raven, a-a-and he knew who; b-b-but he had to leave right away."
"Is that it?"
"I swear."
"This is all rather convenient," Graent circled Maya. "Father, are we sure this wasn't planned?"
"Raven is innocent," Maya gasped.
"And how do you know?" Slaede turned his cold gaze to her.
"She-she-she would never leave us behind," Maya stated confidently.
Slaede clenched his jaw. "She's right," he said to Graent. "Raven would never willingly separate from her family."
"So…this…Damyan is making use of his family's iolite?"
"Send a message to Mara," Slaede ordered his son, "I want the Shadow Clan here by tonight."
"Whatever you say, Father."
"Yes," Slaede glared, "whatever I say."
"Maya healed you," Raven sighed in relief. She threw her arms around Viktor and breathed a sigh of relief. "Thank Azar."
"But what about you, Raven?" Viktor held her at arms' length and looked at her up and down, checking for injuries. "Are you okay? Have they hurt you?" He glared at Damyan and Jhon.
"No, they've been nice," Raven answered.
"Nice?" Viktor repeated incredulously. "Gods, Raven, he nearly killed me. I was on the brink of death."
"I don't know what to tell you," Raven frowned. "Jhon has been especially sweet."
"Well, I'm so sorry they've put you through this. I…I wasn't aware there was a change of plans."
Raven gave him a confused look. "A change of plans?" she repeated. "What do you mean?"
"I mean," Viktor sighed, scratching the back of his head. "Raven, I'm with the resistance."
