Disclaimer: I love Kang Seo Joon with all my heart.
But boy, if you were one of my best friends, I would have told you to get your head out of your ass.
Sleeping outside his ex’s house, eating his food in his restaurant, integrating himself with all of Ji Woo’s loved ones - these behaviours are not normal. In fact, if it was anyone besides Seo Joon doing this, we would call it stalking.
It’s terrifying to see how dependant he is on Ji Woo. It is terrifying knowing how badly his mental health suffered and how his abandonment issues clearly worsened. It is of course not helped by the way Ji Woo left either, so thanks for that bud.
If this was real life, I would want Seo Joon to learn to be himself without Ji Woo. I would want him to realise he can stand on his own two feet and not need anyone. Instead, his unhealthy attachment may be romanticised.
I really hope his abandonment issues aren’t swept under the rug. I feel he is overdue completely exploding on Ji Woo (and according to the trailer we know that will be happening). No one can just take all this pain and do nothing but continue chasing the person who caused. No one - not even Kang Seo Joon.
I want someone to remind him that it is okay to feel these ugly emotions and to show them. Honesty is more than showing people your vulnerability. Honesty is being true to yourself about the hurt and anger you are feeling and communicating that. It is being true about your intentions and it is about knowing what you are worth.
Kang Seo Joon is worth so much more than camping outside his ex’s house, eating his food and forcing a place in his life. Kang Seo Joon is worth an honest and open love. I hope Han Ji Woo will be able to give that to him, but right now, he is too emotionally immature for that. It hurts but Kang Seo Joon needs to walk away with his final words to Ji Woo being:
“What you did to me is the worst thing a lover can do. Don’t use these words and my pain to allow yourself to pity yourself and hate yourself, so that you continue to stay away from me. Use my pain to open your eyes to what I am worth: An explanation. My pain shouldn’t have to do that for you; I should have been worth it from the start. If you can’t say it, then write it. Don’t keep me in a limbo like this, I won’t survive it.”

a loud groan left y/n’s mouth as she turned her back from her friend. “no ji-woo!”
“oh come on, y/n!! it’ll be fun!”
the girl faced to ji-woo with a frown displayed. “you know i haven’t gotten over taehyun yet..”
her friend rolled her eyes in a playful gesture before replying — “girl that’s why you go on the blind date!”
“it wouldn’t be such a bad idea..” dae murmured on the side.
y/n’s head whipped to him in an instant to send a stink eye. “it would be, actually. i’m not ready and having a double date with you and jake with someone i don’t even know is just so awkward.”
“it won’t be! jake just wants his friend to have some company for the night. please, y/n…” ji-woo pleaded.
y/n let out a disgusted sigh at her before turning her attention to an eagerly-waiting dae and min-su. “should i..?”
“YES!” they yelled together.
“UGH i hate you guys.. fine!”
the gang cheered in her defeat as they gathered around. “finally getting over taehyun!” dae exclaimed.
“i will end you..”
ji-woo gave a chuckle at her threat. “you’ll be fine y/n! he’s good looking, and he’s pretty much like you but in boy form!”
“is that supposed to be a compliment…”
“wait is it sunghoon?” min-su chimed in as she sent her text out to her boyfriend.
“oh yeah, heeseung knows him right?”
“mhm” — their friend responded, “i heard he’s kind of cold hearted from other dates he’s had though..”
“cold hearted..?” y/n repeated.
“i’m sure it’ll be fineee. from what i’ve heard, he’s a stand up guy.” ji-woo attempted to reassure.
“pft yeah right, he’s probably just into one night stands.” the short girl retorted
“isn’t that what you want though?” questioned dae who was giving light taps on his phone for jungwon.
y/n sighed. “well i’m not gonna expect anything out of that stupid double blind date i have with ji-woo.”
the group gave light giggles at her words. “you’re such a hater,” the dimpled girl snorted.
“i am! i’m only doing this for you.”
“you love me…”
“i’m leaving..”
“Y/N!”
“shut up, i’m leaving!” her footsteps hurried out of the room before she could hear their debating screams on coming back.
. . • ☆ . ° .• °:. *₊ ° . ☆
“do i look fine?” y/n nervously mumbled while fidgeting her fingers.
ji-woo sighed out — “girl yes! you always do.”
“shut up, i’m hating you so much right now. i cant believe i actually said yes to this.”
“well it’s too late! they’re already coming here anyway.”
the shorter girl huffed out a sigh after applying the last few touches to her makeup. “why did i say yes…” she muttered under her breath.
minutes passed and soon came the time when the two boys arrived. jake walked in first to engulf his girlfriend into a tight hug, as sunghoon awkwardly tumbled behind him.
“hey love, missed you today.” he sighed out in the embrace of ji-woo — earning quiet giggles from her.
as the two couple were hugging, y/n and sunghoon stayed on the side with averting eyes. they’re introverts, of course they’re too scared to talk first.
the girl gave a swift, clear cough in her throat to catch her friend’s attention. “hm? oh! sorry, y/n this is sunghoon. sunghoon, this is y/n.” ji-woo spoke to the two tense figures.
“hi…” y/n softly uttered with a weird hand wave.
“hello,” he replied in a light manner.
the silence was deathly awkward already. jake sucked in a deep breath before patting his friend’s back. “ah i’m sorry y/n, my bro here is a little awkward, but if you get to know him more, you’ll find that he matches you.” he beamed a smile at his girlfriend’s friend, who was just nodding.
“that’s nice, i guess..” she said, whispering the last few words to herself.
“girl you’re awkward too, you better not leave it to just sunghoon to talk.” ji-woo suddenly disputed while intertwining her hands with her boyfriend’s.
y/n gave a quick side eye as her mouth gaped open in shock. “yeah yeah whatever, just focus on your stupid date.” she bitterly spat back. she heard sunghoon give a quiet chuckle at his side, amused in her little antics with her friend.
he flashed a half smile, letting his fangs highlight his facial features even more. perhaps this date wasn’t such a bad idea after all…
. . • ☆ . ° .• °:. *₊ ° . ☆
the beginning to the double date was to a movie. and of course, it was a horror movie — ji-woo picked it on purpose.
“ugh i really fucking hate you right now. why would you do this to me?” y/n fumed, feeling her hands shake with each taunting thought of the jumpscares in mind.
being such gentlemen, sunghoon and jake (mostly jake) volunteered themselves to grab the snacks while the two girls sat in the theater — letting previews play in the background.
“girl you’ll be finee, i heard that it’s not even that scary!” ji-woo defended.
“i don’t care, ji-woo! i cant do horror movies, you know that! i hate you so much, i wish i never went on this stupid date.”
“oh my gosh.. you’ll be fine y/n! just… hold onto sunghoon when you get scared.” her brows raised suggestively, earning a harsh nudge from y/n.
“you’re so ugly. i’m gonna fucking walk out, that’s what i’m gonna do.”
“no you won’t!” ji-woo yelled back with a hand grab to her. “the ticket’s been purchased so.. you have no choice but to stay here.”
y/n scoffed and groaned soon after. “fine but i’m not gonna sit next to you.” she got up from the middle section, and sat in the corner where sunghoon was originally gonna sit.
ji-woo only scoffed at her petty behavior, opening her mouth to make a comeback but was stopped with the entrance of jake. the boy sat next to her with a confused look.
“i thought y/n was gonna-“
“she wants to sit there so she’ll sit there,” his girlfriend intervened.
y/n rolled her eyes before searching for her date who wasn’t behind jake. “hey where’s my date?”
her friend’s boyfriend chuckled. “you care about where my bro is at now huh?”
her face morphed into an eye squint with her lips tugged at the corner. “god you’re just like fucking ji-woo…”
the couple laughed together before jake spoke again — “it’ll be okay, y/n. your savior just decided to get more snacks for you.”
y/n’s face felt heated with embarrassment. all that fuss, and he was just being polite.
“whatever… i still wish dae and min-su were fucking here. they’d still leave me for their man but..,” her lips pouted as she missed them, feeling neglected from her friend who was giggling with her man. soon after, she pulled out her phone.

Sorry y/n, Jungwon just came too so
y/n <33:
yeah yeah whatever, have fun losers
the girl shut her phone after the text sent through to avoid any other messages. she gave a defeated sigh at the situation she was stuck in.
she didn’t hate the boy, but she was just simply too awkward to be going on dates like these.
soon enough, sunghoon came back with arms full of candy and popcorn.
just the sight of him approaching y/n was awkward — in a sweet, kind of dorky way.
“o-oh, you’re sitting in my seat?” he asked with his lips pressed together afterward.
she only nodded before looking down in an apologetic manner — “yeah, sorry.. i don’t want to sit next to my friend right now.”
he gave a chuckle as he sat down in the one next to her. “you must’ve really hated her for putting you on this date with me huh?”
“w..what!” her eye blew up in shock at his sudden approach. “no! i mean, i just can’t go on dates with how awkward i am..”
sunghoon widened his smile as he empathized with her words. “are you usually this awkward?”
y/n bit her lips before melting in with a head shake. as if she was already comfortable with him, she sent a soft smack to his arms. “shut up, i’m awkward but i’m not as awkward as you.” the girl shot back.
his mouth slightly gaped open with how sudden he had been hit. “that really hurt, you know?” he teased in a shit eating grin, hands rubbing at the “bruised” area.
she reflected back a smile as she shook her head. in all the dates she’s been on, she’s never met a man whose met her expectations in the reactions for when she’d hit them — until him.
“you’re stupid,” she said in an automatic response.
sunghoon smirked with an eyebrow raise. “yeah? well if i’m stupid, then you’re gorgeous.”
y/n forcibly took a pause in everything. ‘where did that random surge of confidence come from?’ she asked herself while awkwardly laughing. “gorgeous..? that’s a little upfront.”
he did a head tilt with her words, causing her heart to lightly thump at his handsome, confused face. “upfront? did you like it?” his thick brows raised again as he grinned ear to ear, enjoying her shy reactions.
she shook her head after burying it into the palm of her hands. “ew stop it..,” her voice muffled out as she nudged her head against his broad shoulders.
hoon beamed with a warm, fuzzy feeling at the tip of his ears. “your reactions to what i say are cute. i guess i’m gonna have fun trying to figure you out tonight.” he mumbled near her head.
y/n bolted up at his words. “what??”
“it’ll be fun,” he winked. oh, was he so awkward and yet so confident at such different times. is this how he does his one night stands?
she shook her head out of it. she doesn’t fall in love, not on the first date anyway. “uhm so, what kind of snacks did you get?”
sunghoon’s lips curled at her question. “well i heard from your friend that you enjoy chocolate, so i got you a little bit of everything from their selection.” one by one, he handed little chocolate snacks that had y/n mesmerized with sparkles in her eyes.
each time he gave her the candy, her hands would softly graze against his in a way that she didn’t realize, but he did. he’d take a gulp whenever he’d feel her nails faintly scratch his hands with how excited she was in snatching the treats.
“no way you got me all of this!” she exclaimed, feeling like a kid on christmas day.
he tugged a smile onto his lips as his heart was beating like crazy with the excitement she displayed. “i just wanted to make sure you’d be distracted from the scary movie.”
y/n peaked her head out of the chocolate, and to him with a puzzled look. “how’d you know i don’t like horror movies?”
“i could see how scared you were when we talked about it in the car,” sunghoon chuckled as he recalled back to watching her eyes nervously shift from ji-woo to jake, in hopes that someone read her mind (he did).
“sorry..,” she murmured. “i just can’t handle jumpscares.”
his lips pressed together in a line, conveying that he understood before showing his hand palm to her.
y/n looked at him with confused eyes, causing a hearty laugh to erupt from him. “you can hold my hand for comfort if you need to, dummy. whenever you’re scared, just squeeze it to know that you’re not alone.”
could she really do that with a stranger? “are.. you sure?” her eyes trailed up to meet his pretty face that spoke a reassuring look.
sunghoon nodded with a half smile. “yeah, i don’t mind.”
the girl’s heart lit up with butterflies. gladly, she let her hands intertwine with his and almost immediately, she felt a spark hit them.
y/n took a deep breath with how close they’ve already gotten. they barely talked and yet they were holding hands already.
as they were about to talk more, previews suddenly ended and the movie began.
when ji-woo could, she’d turn her head to check on the two — only to turn to jake and comment — “they’re already like a couple.” the male would glance at the said people and giggle alongside his girlfriend.
“i knew they’d match,” he mumbled with an approved head nod.
. . • ☆ . ° .• °:. *₊ ° . ☆
throughout the film, y/n squeezed sunghoon’s hand continuously — a little more than he’d expect. when an upcoming jumpscare scene came, her hands would slightly grip in fear of what would show.
other times, the opposite side of their hands that weren’t holding would reach into the popcorn bucket situated between each other. again with the finger graze — their hands would accidentally bunk when dipped into the bucket, both too awkward to address it.
y/n gulped with the tension that was quietly arising between them. she’d occasionally stuff her face with popcorn to distract herself with how long her hands were holding his.
‘is my hand too sweaty?’ ‘is he tired of it yet?’ ‘when should i pull my hand away’ ‘he’s handsome..’ ‘damn he’s gorgeous’ ‘i could stare at his face all day’ ‘am i staring too much?’ — were all questions and thoughts that ran through her mind.
“are you that scared of the movie that you have to look at me instead?” sunghoon whispered with his head near hers.
her face grew heated with shame. “what?” she questioned aloud. her eyes trailed to his as he locked eye contact. a small smile plastered on him as he watched her shy away.
their faces were close to each other — tips of the nose barely touching with their hands still tightly intact.
“you’ve been staring a lot,” he chimed.
a glint of the movie scene (that was now deafened out by the both of them) reflected on his shiny eyes as they gazed at each other. the lighting was dark but she could still trace out all the special features highlighted on him — his thick brows, plump lips, softened eyes, and messy hair — her heart was fluttering in all sorts of ways.
“sorry.. that’s a little embarrassing,” y/n admitted with her lips firmly pressed. “i just-“
her words were interrupted by the sudden boom from the movie. a jumpscare appeared in a matter of seconds, causing the girl to jolt and tighten her hand around hoon’s.
quickly, she shut her eyes and turned her head away from the bright screen. she felt her heart beating out of her chest with the stimulated pace it was at.
in return, sunghoon rubbed his thumb in a reassuring way as he chuckled to himself. “you okay?” he queried while giving a light squeeze to her.
her breath became heavy as an uneasy feeling crept in. “yeah.. is it over?”
“yeah, the scene’s over.”
y/n peeked her eyes open to look up at a smitten boy who was still keeping his strong gaze on her. her cheeks flushed with a warming color once more as she averted his gaze to look at the bright screen.
immediately, her vision took in the scene displayed out in front of her — a woman being possessed. she yelped out in fear and gripped his hand.
“sunghoon!” y/n harshly whispered with a head whipped to him.
he flashed a smile, fangs and dimples full out on display as his heart raced. “sorry sorry, are you okay?” the boy softly murmured back.
“no, what made you think that was okay?” she whispered-yelled, furiously shaking her head in disappointment.
sunghoon couldn’t help but grin ear to ear again. biting his lips to calm himself down from looking like he had hangers in his mouth, he turned his head away from her — coming into eye contact with his friend, jake. he raised his brows in a way that spoke — ‘perfect for you, huh?’
he shook his head before turning to y/n, who was still scared out of her wits. “i didn’t know, i swear. the movie’s already over anyway.” his mutter was sweet and soft in her ears — causing a fluttering feel to hit at the pit of her stomach.
attempting to look unfazed, she groaned out a disgusted sigh before detangling her fingers that were still tightly attached to him. the movie was indeed over so no hand holding was needed anymore.
sunghoon quietly sighed out at the empty feel against his hands. “you okay?” he asked with worried eyes.
y/n nodded her head, hands rubbing her heart area to calm it down. “yeah no, i’m fine, but if i have nightmares, i’m blaming you.”
he amusingly chuckled before sending a pat to her hair. “alright that’s fair.“
“okay lovebirds, you guys ready?” ji-woo asked to the two.
y/n looked at her with disgust written on her face. she barely knew the guy after all.
sunghoon looked at her for confirmation, only to earn a simple nod and eyebrow raise.
the group left the movie theater together, and then carried onto their plan of having dinner together.
in the seating arrangement, ji-woo and y/n sat near each other, facing their dates.
“oh shoot, i forgot something in the car!” y/n’s friend exclaimed with a sigh.
“what is it?” responded jake.
“my phone, i can’t believe i forgot it!”
a chuckle slipped out of his mouth as his hand gently placed over hers. “don’t worry love, let’s go get it.”
as she got up, y/n was quick to grasp her wrist. “uhm jake, why don’t i just go with her instead?” her eyes met her friend’s, letting it shift to sunghoon to give her the hint to not be left alone with him.
jake smiled as he watched his girlfriend’s friend give a poorly made signal. “it’s fine, we’ll be quick y/n. make sure she’s okay, bro.” he swatted a hand to hoon who was awkwardly nodding.
the couple vanished within seconds, allowing the two most awkward people in the world to be left alone.
y/n quickly cleared her throat before snatching out her phone out of habit.

Okay it’s me, but give Sunghoon a chance
And get off of the phone
y/n subtly rolled her eyes before shutting the phone off. turning her head up, she was met with the same boy who looked just as smitten as earlier.
there was something about his eyes that she could get lost in.
“so.. sunghoon, do you go on dates a lot?”
she sighed to herself, wanting to twist her head in how stupid she sounded.
he softly chuckled at her reaction afterward, watching how she face palmed herself. “i don’t go on a lot, but i enjoy it occasionally.”
‘is he really a one night stand type of guy?’ y/n thought as she nodded.
“and you?”
“well i was actually in a committed relationship with someone but we broke up.. five months ago.” she took a noticeably large gulp of her water after to calm her nerves.
sunghoon’s ears perked up at her words. “you guys broke up?”
“well we’re on this date, aren’t we?”
the two laughed together at how silly and stupid this kind of introduction was.
he was about to ask more, but was stopped by the re-entry of jake and ji-woo. “sorry guys, the car was further than we thought,” the girl huffed.
“no worries, let’s just order.” y/n responded, eyes distracted with how handsome sunghoon looked. her gaze lingered through every facial feature of his, subtly admiring as she forcibly tore her attention away from him after.
hoping no one saw, she changed the subject into what possible dishes she’d order. he noticed though. of course he did. her attempt to look elsewhere was a fail with how she could feel his stare burning holes into her.
the boy laughed quietly to himself before looking at the menu as well.
meanwhile, outside of their world, jake and ji-woo shared the same glance that said — ‘as if it wasn’t already obvious.’
. . • ☆ . ° .• °:. *₊ ° . ☆
when dinner finished, the two in a relationship decisively ditched sunghoon and y/n together.
the short girl groaned out an annoyed sigh. to be quite frank, she just wanted the night to end.
she scrolled through her phone to find a text from ji-woo — ‘forgive me queen!!’ — followed by a few other confused messages from min-su and dae.
a click to her device was made and she put it away to turn to sunghoon. “i’m really sorry that they ditched us here…”
he smiled as if he understood. “don’t worry, i don’t mind sitting next to a pretty girl.”
her cheeks quickly flushed, causing her to impulsively slap his arm for a response. “oh shit! sorry, i do that a lot.” she gave a sheepish smile as she rubbed his muscular arm.
he shined his teeth with a wide grin. “i can tell.. guess i should get used to that huh?” he murmured.
“what??”
“nothing, just keep rubbing my arm like that.” sunghoon raised his thick brows, earning a gasp from y/n.
“the way you get randomly confident is so crazy to me.”
“guess you should get used to that.” he flirted, tongue slipping between his teeth. “wanna get a drink?”
“only if you’re buying,” she said, lips pressed into a sweet smile.
hoon chuckled out at her words — “of course i will, gorgeous.”
immediate butterflies hit her stomach with the newly given name from him. “you’re calling me gorgeous for sure, now?” the girl asked after ordering her alcoholic drink.
“yeah, you don’t like it?” he handed it to her once it was done and took small sips of his own.
she rolled her eyes before sending a light grin. “it’s not bad. can i give you one?”
“be my guest, gorgeous.”
her heart pulsed at the name again, feeling her insides jump as she said, “mm.. how about loser?”
instantly, sunghoon almost spat out his drink. “loser??” he closed his eyes to laugh at her suggestion. “you think i’m a loser?”
“i mean, you could be my loser.” she carelessly responded.
one of his brows raised in amusement. “look who’s confident now.”
“shut up!” she yelled, chuckling alongside the smiley boy.
changing the topic, y/n went into a few other different subjects. and now with a little more alcohol driven in her system, her confidence rose as she suddenly asked, “okay this is random but, how do you think this one night stand thing is going so far?”
sunghoon took a pause — “one night stand? you think this is a one night stand?”
she hiccuped a giggle as she shook her head. “well i mean, don’t you only do one night stands?”
he took her question in a light manner, scratching the back of his neck while laughing it out. “if you think this is a one night stand, then you’re wrong dummy. i don’t do that, and whatever you heard, it’s wrong. i’m not that kind of a person.” his finger playfully nudged her head as he rolled his eyes.
“wha- i’m sorry! i just heard that you tend to be a little mean..,” y/n defended with a scoff.
he beamed a half smile as he let a sigh leave his mouth. “you still think i’m mean after letting you hold my hand?”
she mirrored his expression before softly hitting his arm again. “okay you didn’t let me finish. i thought you were at first! but after that whole movie theater situation, i thought you were pretty sweet.”
his heart subtly lit with fireworks as he bit his lips down to hide his smile. “i am pretty sweet, aren’t i?” he cockily marveled.
“ew sunghoon..”
the male cackled out a laugh at her reaction. “come on, it was funny.”
y/n rolled her eyes — “just a little bit.. but don’t get too carried away with it.”
a few more push and pull on their spat was made before hoon decided to end it with a trip to the restroom.
as she was left alone, her hands pulled out her phone once again to check her flooded group chat.

GIRL WHAT
y/n giggled at her screen, about to type out another message before being interrupted.
“y/n?”
the familiar voice immediately clicked in her head. she knew that voice from anywhere..
“taehyun??” she felt her heart in her throat with how sudden he appeared back in her life. “what are you doing here?”
a chuckle erupted from his throat as he nervously scratched his neck. “i should be the one asking you that. are you drinking alone?”
“oh no i-“
“nevermind that, you look cold.” he interrupted, taking his leather jacket off to wrap around her.
“it’s really fine, taehyun, you don’t have to.” a sense of an uneasy feeling hit her stomach as she was tensely awkward.
his hands held onto the jacket, attempting to let it cover her shoulders — only for it to be pushed away with another coat from behind.
y/n, of all, was puzzled but quickly grasped that it was sunghoon. he arrived from behind, noticing the subtle body language change in her from her back.
now the jacket he wore earlier had securely been on her shoulders with a hand placed at her waist.
he pulled her in close to him with his eyes narrowing at her ex. “she has mine. she’s not cold.” the girl trailed her eyes from his chest to his masculine face. she took a gulp, careful to not get too caught up with how much she was admiring him. him, and his chiseled chest, strong jawline, sharp nose, dashing eyes, thick brows, and fluffy hair. god, she could stare at him forever.
meanwhile, taehyun felt lost, mind not able to comprehend how sudden a random guy had swooped in near his old lover. “oh i’m sorry, are you guys…”
sunghoon darkly chuckled. “yeah,” he paused with a jaw clench while tightening his hold around her waist, “we’re together.” the surge of possession drawing out of him was something she didn’t expect to see, but she liked it.
the older male understandingly nodded his head before apologizing and taking his leave from the scene.
“thanks.. i didn’t really feel like talking to him.” y/n confessed with her lips pushed in a line.
he smiled as he took his seat, not before sweeping the taehyun air off and taking a sip of his beverage. “i could tell. did i do good as your pretend boyfriend?”
she cackled a laugh, nodding in agreement as she joked, “yeah keep that up and you’ll be my real boyfriend.”
“yeah? i have potential?” his face dipped in closer to hers, breath heavy with a gulp at how close they were.
her lips curled into a smile before leaning in close to let the tips of their noses touch. “you do, loser.” she flirtatiously nudged his head away, laughing at how charmed he was.
they continued through other talks, finding interests in similar things and connecting on a different level. going on a date with someone like him was different than what y/n was used to. she felt like she could actually converse with him after pushing through the awkward surface.
little things about each other were getting to be known — birthdays, interests, goals, connections, mbti’s. they were enjoying each other’s company with just how well they could communicate.
a spark was undeniably ignited between the two loud introverts, and soon enough, the question had been asked —
“wanna get out of here?”
“been waiting for you to ask that.” y/n replied with a smile.
the two soon found transportation back to her shared apartment with her friends.
“so you live here with ji-woo?” he asked, stuffing his hands into his pockets.
“yeah, and two others. they’re dating your friends too, heeseung and jungwon.”
sunghoon’s eyes blew up in shock. “what?? really? so how come i never knew you before?”
she grinned ear to ear at his question. “well i was dating taehyun for a while so i was pretty much off the market at the time.”
“too bad, would’ve been perfect for past me.” her head shot up to the boy who was having a faint color of pink tainted on his cheeks.
“what about being perfect for present you?”
y/n stopped in her tracks, allowing sunghoon to face her. “i could tell you already are.” almost immediately, her cheeks grew hot and heavy.
he chuckled, bitting his lips with how she reacted. “so i guess i figured you out tonight.”
her head tilted in confusion, earning another sweet laugh to be heard from him. “i said i’d have fun figuring you out tonight, and i did.”
“you figured me out through one night?”
hoon’s mouth ran through the little details he didn’t dare to miss throughout the night, causing y/n to have her jaw on the floor.
“wow.. you really did figure me out. i mean there’s more to it than that but-“
“but i did good huh?” his nose gave a soft scrunch as he smiled in satisfaction. “i should get a prize for that.”
she giggled. “you want a prize?”
he nodded his head. “only if you’re giving them out.”
the girl rolled her eyes at her date. “fine, what do you want?”
“another date.”
she couldn’t help the beam that took over on her face, closing her eyes shut as she nodded her head. “okay, another date with you it is.”
sunghoon reached one of his hands out — “shake on it.”
“shake on it?” she guffawed.
“yeah, shake on it.” the boy repeated.
she sighed in defeat, giving in because of how handsome his soft pout was. her hands firmly shook his and prepared to let go, only to be in a tight hold again.
before she knew it, his lips smashed against hers. sunghoon smiled through the kiss, enjoying her flustered state with how sudden everything was. his other cupped her cheek, pulling her in closer as she melted into it.
soon enough, he pulled away with his heavy breath against her cheek. the male planted soft and quiet kisses on her lips, indicating her with his longing to connect their lips again.
“that was a good shake huh?” hoon whispered.
she scoffed out a laugh and pushed him away. “shut up.”
a wide grin plastered onto his face as he laughed with a hand on his stomach. “so, another date?”
“we already confirmed that.” said y/n, giving a roll to her eyes once more before feeling his warm hand bring her back.
“can’t wait,” sunghoon murmured, leaning in to leave a comforting peck on her cheek.
“get home safely.” she said. the girl picked out soft strands from his messy and yet gorgeous hair, letting a few still take its fall as her eyes focused on him.
hoon’s cheeks and ears flushed with a tinge of pink, feeling his heart thump out of his chest while nodding — “i will, get home safe too, gorgeous.”
y/n smiled as if on default, softly smacking his arms as she replied, “can’t wait for our next date.”
sunghoon gave a quick ruffle to her hair before taking off. he laughed at her frustrated state when he did it, loving how his teasings caused an adorable reaction like that.
the two definitely had a lot more to learn about each other, but being as comfortable as they were on a first date was a good sign.
after a little more playful bickerings, y/n went inside her apartment complex to converse with her friends in how well the date went. ji-woo, especially, mentioning how she knew they’d match while min-su and dae played out their jokes and gasps in a light manner.
“what did i say!” yelled the dimpled girl.
“still doesn’t justify you leaving me completely alone!” y/n yelled back.
“yeah why did you do that, ji-woo?” dae chimed in.
“she needed to talk to him, not me throughout the date!” she defended.
“wow see that, she didn’t even want to talk to you y/n.” min-su instigated.
as for sunghoon, the boy went to his apartment he shared with jake. he spent the entire night wondering and thinking about the girl he just talked to. eventually, asking his best buddy all sorts of questions about y/n so he could ask his girlfriend. the poor boy was exhausted from his own date, and yet hoon was pestering him about all the tiny details that could be heard from ji-woo.
“please jake!” the taller male pleaded.
jake groaned out an annoyed sigh. “dude leave me alone! ask me questions tomorrow!”
“but i want to talk about her now!”
“go bother heeseung or jungwon then, their partners are dating her friends too you know?” he mumbled with an arm draped over his eyes.
“but you’re here now!” sunghoon exclaimed.
“bro just text her, and stop asking me!”
a door slam was made in front of hoon, giving him no choice but to text the girl who’d now be someone he’d think about on the daily basis.
this was just the start to their relationship.

Headcanons with Kayden Break
● Kayden has a very specific personality. Becoming his girlfriend seems like luck is on your side, but it doesn’t seem to be the case. Knowing his ardent character, for Kayden the main thing in a partner is the opposite that could balance him, otherwise calling him violent is putting it mildly;
● The relationship with him could have started a very long time ago. You simply could have been childhood friends or simply opponents, after the battle, on the contrary, you became friends and began to further improve your abilities. It’s just that Kayden came to your house so often, slept with you, had dinner, trained with you that it became commonplace and you got used to this situation;
● Teasing, or making fun of Kayden is also allowed. No matter how much he needs the opposite of his character, he still wants excitement in a relationship. Most of the time he is the one who jokes and teases, but when you, too, are in the mood, he just burns inside from the thrill that you are insolent to him. And this usually ends with him simply dragging you to the bedroom for more adult matters;
● It will be important for Kayden to know that you can stand up for yourself, defend yourself when he is not around. Over all his years, he has made enough enemies for himself, and although the awakened world does not know about you as Kaidan’s girlfriend, there will be those who will find out the slightest information about him to use against him. It is important for Kaidan to know that you can defend yourself if something happens, he will always come to the rescue if his intervention requires it, but since you are his girlfriend, it means you must be on the same level as him;
● Being Kayden’s girlfriend means becoming an unexpected cat person and also becoming a mentor and practically the older sister of Ji Woo. Kayden in the body of a cat is an addition to your relationship, especially if you love cats and are not allergic to them. Plus a bonus in the form of your boyfriend’s kind and sweet student, who admires you so much that perhaps your and Kayden’s self-esteem has skyrocketed;
● Jealousy? Perhaps only to other cats and Ji Woo. A strange combination, of course, but it’s true. Kaidan gets jealous when you pay attention to other cats instead of him, or when you spend time with Ji Woo often, even if it's not training. At such moments, Kaiden thinks that his girlfriend was stolen by cats and his student, which in some cases is true, no matter how strange it may sound. In return, you compensate for this jealousy by spending quality time with my boyfriend;
● It’s not that Kayden doesn’t intend to marry you, it’s just that you already live as a married couple (though secretly, from the world of the awakened), so there’s simply no need to marry, and he’s unlikely to want to have a wedding, although he’ll think about buying a ring for your ring finger so other men know you're busy. There seems to be no need to talk about children. Yes, he gets along with Ji Woo, but if you give birth to a baby with abilities like Kaidan’s and his own character, it’s unlikely that the world of the awakened can stand it. They can barely tolerate Kayden alone, and then there is a daughter or son, who is his second copy, I’m afraid to imagine how the top 10 will react to such news. And Kayden himself said that he wouldn’t be very good at raising a child, so you don’t raise the topic of children. As a last resort, say that you will adopt Ji Woo.

Jungkook: I love you
Y/N: I love you? Where did that come from?
Jungkook: Just…wanted to say. Trying to remember that I love my mom too
Y/N: Oh dear
Y/N: What's she done?
Jungkook: I'll tell you later
He knew he couldn't tell you that his mom had invited his high school girlfriend to dinner without his knowledge. You might find it funny, but he was protective of you. The last thing Jungkook wanted was for you to feel hurt, which was silly because you were a grown woman who was even older than him. As you’d told him many times previously - you could take care of yourself. But his mom was his family, which made her his problem. Especially when she was so blatantly against him dating you.
It wasn’t something he’d had to consider previously, said high-school girlfriend had been the only one who’d ever met his parents. And, of course, they’d loved her. Probably because they were both young and innocent, with no real risk of him doing what his mom didn’t want, given he’d been only a teenager.
He’d come to dinner today at the request of his mom, and he’d been the one to suggest that you stay home. The last few times you’d both interacted had been enough to give him a headache, and he didn’t want to put you through any more of her snide comments. They weren’t even sly, some of them were just plain rude.
It had been a few months now since he’d moved out of his parent's house, so he’d just assumed that they were missing him a bit. They’d done the same when his older brother had moved out, so he’d agreed to come tonight to appease them. He should have known something was wrong when his mom had looked around him when he’d come in, the frown on her face unexpected.
And then he’d walked into the living room to see Ji-woo, the girl he’d dated throughout high school. His first love. The girl he’d broken up with because they were going to college across the country from each other, and neither wanted to limit the other. They’d made a promise to meet up again after college, and if there was still a spark then they’d try again as adults, older and wiser.
He’d forgotten all about it until his mom had started bringing it up a few weeks ago. Jungkook had ignored her, thinking she was just reminiscing in yet another particularly callous way. Now, he knew why she’d brought it up.
“Is there something wrong, Jungkook? You know I don’t like phones at the table.” His mom tuts, shaking her head at him admonishingly before scooping some spiced rice onto her spoon. If he wasn’t looking closely at her, then he wouldn’t notice the twitching of her left eye. But he is, and he does see it.
She’s annoyed at him, that he’s texting at the dinner table. No, that’s wrong, it’s not that he’s texting. It’s that she knows who he’s texting.
Sighing deeply, he lets his head fall forward slightly and wonders how it had managed to get to this point. Why was his mom so against you? You were the sweetest, kindest and funniest person he knew. The absolute light of his damn life at the moment. He’d never loved someone so much in his life, he wasn’t even sure if it was normal how much he loved you.
The sight of you made his chest ache sometimes, and the sound of your voice made him smile instantly. You were the love of his life, but also his best friend. He genuinely couldn’t imagine life without you anymore, which might sound a bit extreme. So he was still in the honeymoon phase of the relationship, sue him, which made it all the more painful that his mom hated you.
Why couldn’t she see the beautiful, smart and kind woman that you were? The woman who brightened his day just by existing?
For God’s sake, he’d read enough Reddit threads to know that this type of scenario often broke relationships. He didn’t want to be the mommy’s boy who couldn’t see the damage his mom was doing to his relationship, to his life. But he also didn’t want to cut his mom out of his life.
He loved his mom, too. Even if it was hard to remember that right now.
“Did you know that Ji-woo is in med-school now? She’s aiming to be a paediatrician.” His mom says with a bright smile, looking over at his ex with genuine happiness. Ji-woo looks back with a shy smile, bowing her head to hide her face from his mom’s praise. She’d always been sweet and humble, so it wasn’t surprising that she wasn’t flaunting her achievements right now.
“Oh, that’s cool. Well done, you always said you wanted to be a doctor. I’m glad it’s working out for you.” Jungkook says politely, not wanting to come off as an asshole. He has no ill will towards her, and he certainly doesn’t want to make her feel uncomfortable once she realises that she’s being a pawn in whatever fucked up game his mom is playing. But he also doesn’t want to make it seem like he’s interested.
Because he’s not.
“Thanks, I wasn’t sure I was going to get into med school after college. I came back once I graduated and…well I delayed a year before applying. Took some time to decide what I truly wanted and…here I am.” Ji-woo smiles at him, and he takes a moment to look over her face more carefully. It’s been years since he’s last seen her, and he marvels at how she’s grown into her face and her body in that time.
No doubt it’s the same for her when it comes to him. But there’s a difference between them both. He can practically see the subtle hope in her, that he’ll finally come back and make good on his promise. Jungkook knew that she was interested in him, he’d seen the way she’d looked him up and down, focusing on his tattoos and his face. A new interest - he sincerely doubted she was still in love with him after all this time.
Or, he hoped so anyway.
“Well, I’m glad it’s working out for you.” Jungkook said politely, filling his mouth with curried chicken to avoid having to talk more. Didn’t work, of course.
“Your mom said you’d gone into video games, right? An animator? That’s really cool, you always were really passionate about games.” There’s an awkward pause as Jungkook gives her a neutral smile, before turning his gaze over to his mom. Narrowing his eyes at her, and wondering how long she’d been in contact with his ex.
He didn’t even want to think about what she’d been feeding Ji-woo, and he scowled at his glass of water. Why did she always have to be messing around like this? She was just making his life complicated at this point.
“Yeah, that’s right. Moved companies a few months ago. It’s not nearly as interesting as it looks, trust me. This is really nice, mom. Did you see it on one of those Facebook recipe pages again?” He asks, trying to deflect the conversation away from himself. Jungkook felt awful, but he just didn’t want to talk to Ji-woo, especially about himself.
“Oh, it’s from Ji-woo’s mom! We’ve been talking a lot lately and reminiscing about when you were both teenagers, and how cute you were together. She’s been experimenting with food lately and swore this was something she thought you’d like. I’ll let her know that you enjoyed it, she’ll be so happy.” His mom smiles brightly at him, before looking over at Ji-woo and giving her the same bright smile.
Jungkook just grips his fork even tighter as he internally curses. She was talking with Ji-woo’s mom, and about the past?! For fuck’s sake, he couldn’t deal with this. All this goddamn meddling, was she trying to piss him off and alienate him?
Something about his expression must have given away his feelings, and his dad had obviously picked up on it as he clears his throat. It almost makes Jungkook laugh at how clearly awkward he looks, but he appreciates the attention being taken away from him. His dad knows how tense things are between him and his mom, alongside his mom clearly doesn’t like you. Jungkook feels sorry for how his dad has to feel like he needs to act as an intermediary between everyone, though he is thankful for it.
“It is good, dear. Make sure to eat up, Jungkook, otherwise your mom will chew my ear off later about you not eating well. I’ve put some of the leftovers into a tub for you to take back to Y/N, as well. I’m sure she’ll like it, too.”
Jungkook swears he can feel the air freeze in the room at his dad’s words. His mom glares at him, her lips pressing together and cheeks flushing slightly. It makes Jungkook’s hands go clammy at the sight, knowing that she’s angry. He never liked it when his mom was angry.
“I will, she’ll love it. Let me just text her and let her know not to make anything for dinner. Thanks, dad.” He smiles at his dad, nodding slightly and noting the slight nod in return. It’s not lost on him that his son’s girlfriend isn’t here and his high school ex-girlfriend is, nor that his wife has been chatting up said ex-girlfriend’s mom.
Glancing back across the table, Ji-woo looks exceptionally awkward as she eats a piece of broccoli slowly. Any sense of pleasure he had at seeing his dad taking his side disappears as he remembers how she’s just being a pawn in his mom’s shitty game. It wasn’t her fault this was happening, and Jungkook felt guilty for her being stuck here.
He looks directly at her and gives her a reassuring smile.
“Sorry, Y/N is my girlfriend. She was busy so couldn’t make it tonight.” He tries to say it in a friendly tone, keeping his voice light to not make it seem like he’s rubbing it in. If his mom is any indication lately, he wouldn’t have put it past her to make up that he was wanting some kind of star-crossed lovers reunion.
Sure enough, Ji-woo looks startled at his words and she glances at his mom. There’s a slight quiver in the hand holding her spoon, and Jungkook remembers her facial expressions well enough to recognise the signs of hurt. Dammit, he didn’t want to hurt her, even if he also didn’t want anything to do with her anymore.
“She wasn’t invited anyway,” His mom says, her voice surprisingly simple compared to her cruel words. “I was hoping this might spur something between you both if I’m being honest. But that’s clearly ruined now.”
“Mom!” Jungkook blurts out, his eyes widening in shock at how blatantly rude she’s being. She ignores him, though, and just glares at his dad. Wincing slightly, Jungkook knows that he’s in for a tough time tonight for ruining her carefully laid plans. Though what she thought was going to happen, is beyond him.
Did she think he’d meet his ex and just break up with you instantly? Maybe she thought that he’d cheat on you or something. Whatever she thought, she was clearly out of her damn mind.
“Mom, stop it,” Jungkook looks over at Ji-woo and gives her a strained smile, shrugging slightly. “I’m really sorry, Ji-woo. I didn’t even know you were gonna be here. I’m so sorry, I can’t even imagine how awkward this must be for you. In case it wasn’t obvious, my mom doesn’t like my girlfriend, though I didn’t think she’d do this.”
Now he looks back at his mom and glares, shaking his head in disgust.
“Seriously? I was willing to leave tonight and just try to forget whatever the hell this was, but not now. Not when you’re being so damn mean. I love you, mom, but I don’t love this version of you.” Standing, Jungkook takes his plate and stalks into the kitchen.
The Tupperware of leftovers that his dad had made was cooling on the side, its lid not fully closed to let it cool quicker. Glaring at it, which was stupid because it wasn’t like it had done anything to him. It’s just the principle of it all, and he needs someone to be angry at right now. Or something, rather.
Scraping the remnants of his dinner into the bin, and cursing the fact that he’d only eaten half of it, he doesn’t even hear the footsteps as they come into the kitchen.
“Jeon Jungkook, you are being very rude right now. There is no need for you to be acting like this, you’re a grown adult. I thought it would be nice for you and Ji-woo to catch up, you were so good together in high school and she’s doing so well in life, right now. Her mom thinks highly of you, too.” His mom has no sense of self-preservation, though he can’t exactly blame her. He’d always been the pinnacle of a good boy whilst growing up, so she’d never really experienced him being angry or annoyed.
Clenching his jaw, he ignores her as he moves past and heads over to the sink. It’s ridiculous that he’s stood here, washing his damn plate whilst his mom gives him whatever version of a self-righteous talk she’s conjured up to justify her behaviour. But he knows that if he just leaves without cleaning the damn thing, then she’ll just use it against him. At least this way, she won’t be able to hold this over his head.
He’s being a good son, even if she’s not being a good mom right now.
“Jungkook! Look at me when I’m talking to you.”
Placing the dish on the drying rack, he wipes his hands clean before letting them rest on the counter and lowers his head. He loves his mom, he does.
“Mom, please stop. Just…please. I don’t want to argue right now. Hell, I don’t want to argue full stop. Just…I’m going home. Don’t say anything, don’t try to convince me to stay or anything.” Turning around, he looks down at her and shakes his head in disappointment.
“Jungkook, wait.” She reaches out, her palm towards him and he avoids her touch before skirting around her. Grabbing the Tupperware, he locks it before heading out the door and to the hallway. He’s in the process of shoving his feet into his shoes, his jacket already on when Ji-woo shuffles in from the dining room. She looks so awkward that he almost wants to hug her, just to make her feel a bit more comfortable. But that would be a dumb thing to do.
“I’m sorry you’ve been dragged into this. I’m happy you’re doing well, and that you’re in med school and all that, I am. I’m sorry we didn’t keep our promise after college, and I’m sorry for whatever my mom has told you. I don’t know what that is, but I can guess. I have a girlfriend, we’ve been together for over a year and we live together now. My mom doesn’t like her, because…I don’t know. She’s not a bad person, she’s my favourite person and I love her. I’m sorry you’ve ended up in the middle of all this, I can only imagine what my mom was thinking was gonna happen. I hope you don’t take this personally, but as nice as it was to see you…I hope I don’t see you again. Not because I don’t like you, but…it’s too awkward and clearly, my mom will not be able to act normal if we became friends again.” He trails off, feeling unsure of what else to say to get across his feelings.
Jungkook doesn’t want to hurt Ji-woo, but he doesn’t want to give her whatever false hope his mom has been whispering into her ear. She deserves a lot better than whatever shit show was going on here.
For a moment, Ji-woo says nothing. Standing awkwardly with her shoulders hunched and one hand on her elbow, he feels even worse about this whole situation. Which is ridiculous, because he didn’t engineer it.
But then she surprises him by taking a deep breath and straightening her shoulders, tilting her head up and giving him a small smile. Any traces of that teenage girl he’d once loved are gone, and he’s glad to see confidence in her. He did love her at one point, after all.
“It’s okay, I’m sorry for…well, being a part of this. I’m clearly in the middle of something and I don’t want to be. I had no idea you have a girlfriend, and I would never want to try and lead you on. You were always loyal, and I can only imagine how great she is if you’re serious about her. I hope you’re happy.” Moving towards him, she reaches out and rests a hand on his arm. There’s nothing weird about it, and he lets her do it.
“Thanks…I hope you are too. It was nice, if awkward, to see you again.” He laughs, rubbing the back of his neck before smiling and grabbing the Tupperware.
The sight of his mom coming down the hall makes him rush out the door, unlock his car and jump into it as fast as he can. It’s not lost on him that this is your car, given you’d been blocking him in on the driveway.
Jungkook wasn’t sure if you were going to laugh at this whole situation when he tells you, or roll your eyes. Maybe you’d even get angry. At the very least, he’s got some curry to bribe you with.

Marry My Husband Fic... teaser
Author's note: So... Ji Hyuk has is the one to break my fanfic fast. I haven't been this obsessed with a ML ever since So Ji Sub, so that's saying something. Also, the way Na In Woo plays him does remind me of SJS. Writing this character has been like getting behind the wheel of a well-honed car. All the features are there, one just has to steer it. Kudos to the writer and to Na In Woo for giving him life. This fic begins in the last 5 minutes of Ep 10, and I hope it will play out for about 4-5 weeks in the life of Ji Hyuk and Ji Won. This is just a teaser, to gauge response, and if it's good, I predict this will run about 4-5 instalments. LMK! --
Ji Hyuk could hear the words of Ji Won’s confession, but after she said she wanted to be ‘honest’ his lungs just froze. Ji Won’s lips kept moving, saying good things, wonderful things, but they came filtered to him, a tinny sound at the end of a long chamber. The rest of his mind was processing her presence in his home, her closeness… and her approaching lips.
A tiny corner of his brain registered her tentative kiss. The rest was clashing battle of roaring yearning and iron resolution to stay away from her, so he wouldn’t have to make her suffer with his passing. Too soon she was retreating, her fingers sliding off his neck in disappointment, her body turning away.
A loud NO in his mind broke through the cacophony of wants and needs.  A heartbeat later, they were a tangle of hands and lips and heart and mouth. Nothing mattered, nothing could matter.
They crashed into the wall, driven by the urgent need for more, more contact, more skin, more fire, just more. Vaguely, Ji Hyuk knew he needed to get to a horizontal surface, somewhere, anywhere, but the repeated press of her sweet curves was robbing his mind of direction and aim.
Then she shifted, hitching up a hip on the low dresser, opening up her legs and suddenly he was perfectly pressed up against the crotch of her white jeans. He hardened, impossibly more, and almost howled into her mouth. It came out an anguished growl.
She moaned, and it was better than in his sweaty dreams. In those dreams he had made that last thrust, had imagined the burning hot slide and the slick reception he would receive. ....

Feb 13 2024 update: The fic is launched here!

Chapter 14.
Tumblr media
Chapter 15.
Han Seo Jun couldn’t believe he was doing this. He had willingly called a class meeting. He was willingly calling these people he begrudgingly liked to discuss something. The things he did for you.
Then again, there were very few things he wouldn’t do for you. You had told him about the text and meeting Hae Sung. There was no way that Seo Jun was going to let you do this alone. You had the support of everyone in your class not just your best friends.
“So, everyone understands the plan, yes?” Seo Jun said looking at everyone in the class. They all nodded, understanding how important this was for YN and Seo Jun. It was well known how much the class hated Hae Sung and well anything they could do to help get him out of your life permanently they would do.
You were nervous going into school. Seo Jun had come all the way to your house, and you had gone to school together. Mi Soo Unnie gushing about how cute the two of you were the least of your worries at the moment.
Today was the day that you were going to confront Hae Sung. It terrified you to even think about it. But you knew it needed to happen. You couldn’t continue your life with Hae Sung in the shadows. Waiting to be let back in, knowing that he was behind so many rejections. Pulling the strings of your academic life without your knowledge. You wanted answers and you were determined to get them.
Walking into Saebom, your class and Hae Sung’s class did what they had been doing for months now. Helping you to avoid Hae Sung. You appreciated it, you knew you would not be able to handle seeing Hae Sung’s face before you needed to. As you walked into your classroom, you were surrounded by the girls giving you hugs and the boys shouting fighting. Confused you looked at Seo Jun who smirked and winked at you. Causing you to blush, making the whole class coo at how adorable you were.
The day was a slow one. For once you wouldn’t wait for the end of the day. It was the day to get answers from Hae Sung and the way the class was acting they were probably going to be around to help. Which you appreciated, then again you didn’t know how much of your personal laundry you wanted your classmates to know. In retrospect, there was too much your classmates already knew anyway, so did they know everything really matter?
That was an internal debate you could have later. You knew if you asked Seo Jun would scare your classmates into staying quiet and not saying anything about the confrontation. That made you feel bad though. Did that count as using your boyfriend? You didn’t know and for now, didn’t want to worry about it.
The end of the day came, and you were led to an empty classroom by Seo Jun, there you could see Si Woo and Hyun Ji with Jae Yi as well which was a surprise. You looked at him in shock, your mouth must’ve been open that you felt someone gently closing your mouth. You turned to look at Seo Jun and he just nodded his head.
“I would’ve told you, but Seo Jun wanted this to be a surprise Ynnie” Jae Yi told you. You looked at Seo Jun but again he wouldn’t give you an answer. You weren’t above begging Seo Jun to get answers from him but before you could, Cho Rong was heard shouting.
“Guys hurry up with the explanations Hae Sung is on his way” Looking around everyone nodded their head.
“I’m here as a witness and with the proof of what he did, plus Hyun Ji and Si Woo went through all the applications you filled in that were rejected as more proof. Our plan is to hit him with as much evidence as we can.” Jae Yi explained. You nodded your head before looking at Seo Jun and smiling at him.
He looked more nervous than you and that was saying something. To reassure him, you hugged Seo Jun tightly, just knowing he was here for you was reassuring. Seo Jun whispered in your ear, telling you that he was here and all you had to do was look out the door and wink at him. That was the sign for him to come in. Any moment you felt uncomfortable, just wink and he’ll be there.
“Well, isn’t this sweet, I didn’t come here to see you two hugging Han Seo Jun,” Hae Sung said as soon as he walked into the room. He had a smug smirk on his face like he knew this would all work out in his favour. Was he going to get the shock of his life then?
Seo Jun let go of you and gave you a peck on the lips. Then left the room, hitting Hae Sung with his shoulder on the way out of the room. That made you want to laugh but you knew that would just rile Hae Sung up and that was the last thing you wanted to do. So, you did a poor job of hiding your giggling behind a cough.
“So, you’ve kept a lot of things from me Hae Sung and I would like answers” You started strong, you were not going to let your fear of Hae Sung’s angry words get to you. That was not happening. You had a support system and sadly for Hae Sung, none of them was going to let him leave without telling you the truth of why he did what he did.
“I’ve kept nothing from you YN, my best friend. If anything, you’ve been distant. Hell, you told me that you couldn’t stand to be near me a few months ago” Hae Sung replied, looking you up and down. There was something different in the way you held yourself and he hated it. He heard Si Woo and Hyun Ji scoff at his words. He glared at them, but the two brats just smiled at him. Making him angrier. Why were the two of them even here, not to mention Jae Yi was here? Wasn’t he supposed to still be abroad? When did he come back and contact you?
“Kept nothing from me, sure I would’ve believed that last year but not anymore,” you said and then gestured for Jae Yi to start playing the video. You all turned towards the screen at the front of the classroom. Si Woo even offered you some popcorn which made you laugh but you took some anyway.
As the video played, you could see Hae Sung grow pale. His expression from a smug smirk to confusion to shock and then to disbelief at what he was watching. By the time the video ended, he was refusing to look you in the eyes. Looking anywhere in the room but at you. That was new, Hae Sung had never been afraid of confrontation but looks like being faced with the knowledge that you knew what he had done, scared him.
“Oh, that’s not all that I know Hae Sung. Jae Yi’s family were nice enough to have a Private Investigator delve into my whole academic history, to see if you and Kang So Hee had done this before and well you have. Practically my whole academic life has been controlled by the two of you” As you were saying this, Si Woo and Hyun Ji were putting papers up of all the applications that you’d filled out that had been rejected because of his mother Kang So Hee.
“I just want to know why Hae Sung, what was the point of doing all this? what did you achieve from any of this? Were my emotional breakdowns after being rejected multiple times funny to you? Did it amuse you that I was distraught over something that you had done” You cried to Hae Sung, you just wanted answers and if you were close to tears then so be it. Hae Sung is just silent. You want to shake him, anything to get answers from him.
“I had to do it YN. Do you realise how smart you are? All the applications, all these schools wanted you. It was a struggle to convince them to reject you. I hated to see the emotional breakdowns, but it was a price I had to pay. I need you close to me, all those schools, and opportunities would take you away from me and I couldn’t have that. I tried to keep you isolated from all our classmates.”
“That worked until you met Si Woo and Hyun Ji. I got used to those brats, but I couldn’t let you leave me. Jae Yi was an issue too and I had to get rid of him. It didn’t help that the summer you started dating, you had already rejected me and were pulling away. I had to do everything to keep you with me. I can’t handle anything without you and the only way I saw to keep you with me was to stop any and all opportunities you had that would mean you leave me” Hae Sung said and it took a lot out of him to admit all this to you. So much so that he just sat down in a chair.
All four of you are gobsmacked you couldn’t believe what you had heard. All of this just so you wouldn’t leave him. It didn’t make sense, nothing you had just heard made sense. You didn’t know how to react. All the things you had gone through with Hae Sung by your side, was any of it rule or just a way to make sure that you didn’t leave Hae Sung?
“All of this to make sure YN doesn’t leave you and it’s your behaviour that makes her leave you anyway. If I were you, Hae Sung, I’d go cry to your mother Kang So Hee and change schools, cause the minute this gets out, you’ll be hated more than you already are” Si Woo said calmly looking at Hae Sung with fire in his eyes.
“Too late, everyone already knows, part of the class plan was for me to call Seo Jun when Hae Sung starts confessing. No one will miss you Lee Hae Sung” Hyun Ji mentioned, pulling up her phone and nodding her head to Seo Jun who was at the door.
“Man, I knew you were messed up before and oddly territorial of YN while we were dating but this explains so much and it just makes you look so much worse” Jae Yi was disgusted, to think when he was dating YN, he did everything he could to get Hae Sung to approve of him. This guy needed help, but it was doubtful that he would get the help he needs considering his mother was already doing his bidding and covering for him.
“I never want to see you again Lee Hae Sung. Our friendship is done and dusted. Your control of my academic career is done. You’re lucky that I am not handing this stuff over to the police. Literally because of the good times but I am serious that if I see you again, I will hand this over to the police” you say peacefully. It had been long enough that you had stopped talking to Hae Sung. In the last few months, you had gotten used to not having Hae Sung in your life. You looked towards the door and winked at Seo Jun with a big smile on your face.
Seo Jun was confused but still came into the classroom, he was followed by the rest of your class and you couldn’t help but laugh at the way they all fell into the classroom. Seo Jun went to go fight with Hae Sung but seeing him in the chair looking very docile was weird. Seo Jun looked to you.
You smiled and motioned for Seo Jun to come over to you and to Seo Jun’s shock, you grabbed his collar, pulled him down to you and kissed him in front of everyone. You pulled away and laughed at the dazed look on Seo Jun’s face. Your friends were taking pictures claiming this was blackmail material.
“Last year, I wouldn’t have dared to confront you, Lee Hae Sung. If it hadn’t been for tutoring Seo Jun, I wouldn’t have grown closer to my classmates, realised just how toxic you are and literally, you’re the worst person, I don’t know how we didn’t fight before to the point of our friendship ending but my point is that I am better without you. I’m happy with my boyfriend, friends and family. I used to think that we were two idiots in a pod, platonic soulmates. I was wrong, were not soulmates, nothing you’ve ever done has been to help me. It was all to keep me with you and that hurts.”
“However, you did all of that to keep me around when just one honest conversation could’ve solved everything. Instead, you decided to go behind my back and pull the strings. I am happier without you and really, I feel sorry for you Lee Hae Sung. This is my goodbye. Were strangers from now on” After you’ve said this. You take Seo Jun’s hand and walk out of the classroom. You can hear your classmates clapping and whopping at your exit and that makes you laugh.
“So does this mean, I’m out of tutoring today,” Seo Jun asks putting his arm around your shoulders. You shake your head, even after all this time, this boy will do anything to get out of tutoring.
You’d think you would feel bad or upset. You’d just ended a friendship you had since your childhood. That’s not how you felt though. You felt free, you had been seen as Hae Sung’s best friend for so long. Now you were able to be yourself, you didn’t need to worry about how Hae Sung would react to something if there would be an argument if you had to deal with Hae Sung’s disappointment. You never thought that tutoring Han Seo Jun would lead to your freedom from the cage that had been your friendship with Hae Sung.
THE END.

Yeon Hee: I feel so bad I hadn’t even heard of them.
Aemi: I mean, it isn’t really a surprise. They’re a pretty small group.
Yeon Hee: I think it’s just now hitting me that there’s really two separate Spop industries.
Ji Woo: What do you mean?
Yeon Hee: Luvlie debuted a year ago almost exactly, and they had this huge showcase and went on S Countdown the next day. But groups like us and CHANCIX, we’re on a totally different level. Luvlie wouldn’t be caught dead on a stage like this.
Ji Woo: … so what, we just give up because we don’t have a big company?
Yeon Hee: I didn’t mean that! I just… I don’t know. I guess reality is sinking in.
Rae: The reality is that in ten minutes we’re going to be standing on stage performing our debut song.
Yeon Hee: Right, okay. Let me shake it off.

The Highway Family (2022) - A Flawed Attempt on Empathy and Awareness
Tumblr media
This review contains unmarked spoilers, proceed at your own risk. Though I wrote this as I love reviewing stuff despite not intending for it to be read, I still put on a spoiler warning in case people come across this anyway.
These are all my personal opinions, they’re not correct! They’re just my personal views, in case someone finds this for some reason haha.
I just finished watching a Korean movie titled “The Highway Family” directed by Lee Sang-mun, which was released in late 2022 according to Google and IMDB.
And it was unfortunately a bland ride someone who decently likes slow burns and social awareness dramas couldn’t enjoy, though I tried my best to.
The plot summary over at IMDB would say, and I cite, “When a middle-aged, grieving woman gives money to a family out of kindness, only to learn they are homeless and living at the highway rest area, a life-altering series of events unfolds.“
And that sounds like a great synopsis to a drama where a family turns over a new leaf and is given a second chance at a start after living through poverty throughout their entire lives by a that grieving woman (Young-su).
Unfortunately, that wouldn’t be what this movie would turn out to be.
Plot write-up/summary:
Tumblr media
The movie has a good start, introducing the family and their silly antics, camping out in places they aren’t supposed to camp in and emphasizing the cute interactions between the parents and their children despite their current situation, and showing that perhaps not all children who grow up in poverty are the stereotypical unhappy and starving children.
It establishes them as humans, people who were just given the wrong end of the stick, if that metaphor is correct for situations like this.
After a short montage of the family traveling to a rest stop, the father, Ki-woo, asks a random couple for 20,000 won, stating that he doesn’t have enough gas money to refill his tank and additionally mentioning that he lost his wallet.
But he asks for their bank account so he can wire the money back, so he’s nice! Nah, just kidding, he never pays back any of the people he scammed.
When that doesn’t work, he brings out the kids, Eun-yi and Taek.
Tumblr media
The two kids showing up are usually enough to goat people into giving them his money, which they fortunately use to feed the kids some instant ramen. Which definitely can’t be good for them to be eating all the time, but what other choice do they have anyway?
Though I definitely would never condone scamming people out of 20,000 won (which is like $15 according to Google), they at least had a morally sound reason to do that, and he at least used the money to feed his wife and children.
They then get kicked out of the rest stop after lingering a bit too long and provoking an officer (not police) and snapping one of their tent’s poles in that altercation.
But before they leave, they scam a nice lady who offers an additional 50,000 won above the 20,000 they usually get from scamming, this lady is Young-su, who had seen Eun-yi trying to drink tap water earlier.
After that happens, Young-su leaves the rest stop, as she glances at her car’s dashboard to see how little gas she has left but still smiling regardless as she continues driving.
Tumblr media
They then move to another rest stop, despite Taek’s protest of being too tired to walk. He then throws a fit, where he runs off away from the family. Ji-sook sends Eun-yi to fetch her brother, where she surprisingly handles his tantrum well and gets him to calm down after he trips in the middle of running away by offering him candy she kept to herself.
This works well, as mentioned above, only for Taek to start chewing, have one of his baby tooth fall off right then, and start crying again. I guess this was comedic to people watching in theaters, but I think I was one of those who didn’t really care too much. (Sorry..)
Eun-yi doubles down and offers him more candy, calming him down completely. She then throws off his tooth into the nearby bushes and prays. (Is this a cultural thing in South Korea? Not sure, despite having watched K-Dramas for 3 years at this point)
The family then begins their trip to their next rest stop, walking through tunnels to get to their destination.
Tumblr media
I’m getting a bit lazy as I type, so here’s a TL;DR of what happened after they establish all the important characters:
They get to another rest stop, where Ki-woo scams an unsuspecting elderly couple out of the usual 20,000 won and thanks them as they drive off, with the mandatory “I’ll wire it back to your bank account” excuse;
Young-su coincidentally drives to the rest stop they’re in, spots Ki-woo scamming an unsuspecting elderly couple and puts on a disguise to watch the family;
Eun-yi and Taek starts playing a game of hide and seek, where Taek with his genius (what seems to be) six year old mind, decides to hide under a truck of all places, and nearly gets RUN OVER until Young-su swoops in to save them. To add: now that I think about it, this movie was ALWAYS one step away from turning into a horror or thriller movie;
Young-su drags the kids to the parents, berating them for their failure to watch the kids. Ki-woo at this point had completely forgotten who she was (or it was an act, couldn’t tell since the actor really looked dumbfounded lol). He starts to be passive-aggressive with her, where she just goes “Yeah, no. I’m calling the police.”;
Cue Young-su calling the police on them and them running off to a new rest stop, but not before Ji-sook falls down, giving Young-su a chance to catch up and probe her. This reveals that she’s pregnant with another child. She then runs off and consoles Ki-woo, who has a bit of a violent breakdown and threatening Young-su with death in the chaos;
They then catch the family, taking them to the nearby police station. Ki-woo is arrested and Young-su takes the family to live with them.
They live decent lives until Ki-woo breaks out from his cell, which coincidentally sparks a few unfortunate incidents to happen. Taek tears his ligament after being accidentally crushed by furniture that Young-su’s husband and their employee was transporting (he’s completely fine outside of that tear), despite being told not to get out of the car after he insists to come with them. Young-su and Ji-sook was already in the hospital for a medical checkup of Ji-sook’s baby. Young-su and her husband’s relationship sours further.
Cue Ki-woo meeting Eun-yi after escaping, telling her to pass a note to Ji-sook after admiring his daughter’s new ability to write and read (Eun-yi was completely illiterate up to this point);
Ji-sook then goes “Yeah, sorry, no. I’m not going back to that life, PLEASE leave.” when she meets him, sending him into another very bad violent breakdown after he leaves;
Ki-woo completely loses it. He first dine and dashes a poor ahjumma selling fried food and threatened her with a skewer, and then going through a grocery store and just ravaging it and eating whatever he comes across. When confronted by staff, he throws a watermelon and some other fruits and vegetables at them then runs off. He then... umm.. smears his face with what looks to be feces and picks up a flaming bucket;
He comes back to Young-su’s house as they are having BBQ together with Ji-sook, completely broken at this point and sets her furniture on fire in the struggle to restrain him, everyone survives but Ki-woo.
The movie ends with Eun-yi’s internal monologue to her father, stating that she’s happy now and is living well with Young-su. The movie then cuts to a shot of them after the incident, showing Young-soo and her husband embracing the two children, as they cry.

The Review
Reading the plot summary I made above, I could say that the movie was very messy in terms of its plot points.
It goes from 0 to 100 quickly, and not in a good way. It tries to portray a neutral ground on poverty and to bring awareness of it, only to end up creating this weirdly tense experience even though the first half seems to hint at a emotional drama movie rather than a thriller movie.
I’m aware that the two genres (thriller and drama) can go hand-in-hand when pulled off well (Juvenile Justice), it’s just that from the promotional material for this movie just gives a different vibe than what I got watching the end product.
So I’ll rate this movie on 3 categories: cinematography, characterization and story.
Story
The plot was very messy to say the least, it just outright swapped genres from a drama to a f!cking thriller-tragedy after Ki-woo decided to go out like that in the end.
My expectations for the movie was a pure ‘0 to hero’ kind of drama. Where despite Ki-woo and his violent breakdowns, he eventually begins seeking help and eventually gets back on his feet with the support of the people around him.
I know that this type of plot is overdone, but in my opinion it would’ve been better with this approach alongside the scenes of Ki-woo struggling.
Another problem is how his violent breakdowns are never properly explained in the movie, and it becomes a bit problematic and it ends up clashing with other plot points if this aspect of him suddenly became a vital plot point while trying to present Ji-wook trying to get back on her feet without Ki-woo through proper means. They then could’ve shown Ji-wook getting proper mental health assistance and reuniting with kids after he gets better mentally, as this life has left some obvious scars on his psyche and he clearly needs it based on how he acts after the first half. If only they went with this route instead and didn’t go with the violent prison break plot point.
This could’ve been good, but ended up falling flat hard and failing to convey anything important socially regarding poverty and the people who struggle through it.
Final rating: 2/5, this was not a good social awareness drama nor a good thriller.
Cinematography
Okay, this movie has a few saving graces, and one of them is its cinematography. It has a few good shots that stand out, with some being wallpaper worthy:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This movie seems to love playing with symmetrically balanced compositions and wide shots, which I dig!
The way the movie is graded in some scenes seem to remind me of older Korean films for some reason, though I can’t grasp exactly why.
Final rating: 4.5/5
Characterization
In my opinion, also quite weak. None of the characters stand out too much but Eun-yi, who’s overall mature, really knows how to read situations, and caring towards her troublemaking and selfish younger brother. What makes her particularly stand out is her calm and composed personality, and I personally feel like she was more fleshed out than the other characters.
Even Young-su, Ki-woo, and Ji-sook didn’t stand out this much in comparison to her, as their overall characterization was weak and they weren’t really fleshed out as the plot progressed.
Final rating: 2.5/5
Overall Rating: 3
Verdict: One size doesn’t fit all, some may enjoy this movie, but I clearly didn’t enjoy it too much. It could’ve been better with a bit of a more polished story. This movie attempted to bring empathy and awareness, only to sadly fail in doing so. With overall weak characters, there was no one I could really latch on to. The acting was good, but overall standard quality where it isn’t bad nor mediocre, but it wasn’t too great either. Granted, they were probably limited by the kinda weak script.

Sang-Woo sips his cold soda can, looking at Gi-Hun under the patterned shade. Staring up at the sky while sitting on the grass, his back supported by a white oak tree.
He studies his features from the side. The very ones he fell in love with.
Those eyes, so big and shiny that it warms Sang-Woo’s heart every time he sees them; yet break it every time they tear up.
That nose, so firm and strong it contrasts those hopeful pupils.
And those lips. Those damn lips. How dare they look so soft? How dare they be so… alluring?
His eyes linger a little lower, taking a sip of soda at the adam’s apple and then arriving at his collar. Two buttons freed from entanglement, loosened up to reduce some heat. And his heart rate rises; he can feel his cheeks reddening. He doesn’t know if it’s the collarbone or the slightly sweaty skin but whatever it is, it’s urging him to gulp.
His gaze breaks when Gi-Hun shifts his stare from the sky to Sang-Woo. And he finds himself turning his head away, like a reflex.
In his peripheral, he can make out Gi-Hun’s mouth curving up. It doesn’t go up to his ears, but it gives him a sensation. A sensation that’s warm yet bolts pleasant shivers through his entire body.
“It was worth it, huh?” Gi-Hun says, almost smug but not enough to be annoying.
Sang-Woo nods, his mouth slowly curving up too.
It was worth it. No matter how much trouble they’ll get in for this, he wouldn’t regret it.
SIX HOURS EARLIER…
Sang-Woo feels fingers tapping the side of his knees, each tap a little more aggressive than the last. He looks down to find a hand, a folded piece of paper pressed between two fingers.
Sang-Woo’s eyes turn to Gi-Hun’s face, revealing a ‘hurry’ look.
He takes the note, and ever so discreetly, opens it under his desk.
‘You wanna ditch class during break?’ it reads.
Sang-Woo flits his head up at Gi-Hun, his mouth frowned and his eyebrows slightly tilted inwards with confusion and tenuous disappointment. This isn’t something Gi-Hun would ever say. As much as he struggles with school, he would never cut class or abandon his studies. He would always try.
He takes a pencil and pushes the lead on the note. And under the offer, he writes his response: Let’s talk during lunch.
Neither of them will have to wait long, there is only a short amount of time left before the clock strikes twelve.
He folds the paper once again, but maybe the unexpected question distracted him from being careful because before Gi-Hun can spot the paper, the teacher already has.
“What is that?” the teacher’s voice seems to terminate any dregs of noise that may have been present.
Sang-Woo freezes. Both boys’ hearts sink to their stomachs.
But Sang-Woo hides his hand back, closing it to cover the note.
“Nothing sir.”
“No, no, I saw the paper. Are you trying to pass notes in class? To whom? Give it to me, I wanna see what you wrote.” The teacher’s questions fire rapidly, giving Sang-Woo no time to breathe or explain.
“Well? C’mon! I said I wanna see the note.”
Sang-Woo gets up reluctantly, wringing the note in his palms.
He glances at his lover beside him. His expression is as stiff as his, but Sang-Woo is better at hiding the nervousness.
But before he could fully get up, a voice erupts from behind him.
“It’s mine, sir.” she continues. “I just asked Sang-Woo to pass it for me.”
The couple briskly turns their heads simultaneously.
The voice belongs to Ji-Yeong. A classmate of theirs since middle school.
They’ve been good friends for a while. Mainly because she and her girlfriend Sae-Byeok (who is in another class) are the only other people in school who are in a queer relationship. And so, they became close friends. From time to time, they rely on each other. But Ji-Yeong isn’t the type to just take the bullet like this; unless if it’s for Sae-Byeok or if there’s something in it for her.
“Well Ji-Yeong,” the teacher ambles towards Sang-Woo’s seat. “what could have been so important that you couldn’t wait until after class to say it?”
The man takes the note out of Sang-Woo’s hand, releasing him from his mid-squat position.
The folds get undone, the teacher’s eyes never leaving Ji-Yeong’s with every opening. Yet, even with the intimidating shine on his eyes, she never looks away. She keeps her chin high, standing her ground, fearless.
The paper gets completely unfolded and the teacher reads the writing. And his ego prevents him from noticing the different handwritings, making him read the offer and answer as one: You wanna ditch class during break? Let’s talk during lunch.
His eyes rise from the paper and back to Ji-Yeong as a smug smile forms across his face. He puts his hands on his back, the note on full display, allowing anyone behind him to read the contents. And so, a few whispers and murmurs erupt in the class.
“Well Ji-Yeong, for passing notes in class and trying to ask someone to cut class with you, you’ll be cleaning the schoolyard during lunch break.” he commands firmly.
Mild dismay shines through Ji-Yeong’s eyes but not anywhere else on her face. She knows he’s probably not allowed to do this, but she also knows that the school committee will not do anything even if she complains to them. So, she silently nods and accepts.
The bell rings.
The teacher walks back to the front of the class, crumbles the piece of paper and throws it in the bin. He claps his hands in a vertical motion as if the note had left some dirt in his hands that he needed to get rid of.
“Class dismissed.” he announces simply and walks out the door, followed by the rest of the students except for the three.
Ji-Yeong stays seated in her seat while the other two go up to her.
“I’ll help you clean.” Sang-Woo says.
“No! I started this whole thing so I’ll help!” Gi-Hun counters.
“You can both help.” Ji-Yeong stands up and heads for the door. The two follow her.
But before Ji-Yeong can step out the door, a body blocks her way.
She looks up, even though she doesn’t need to do so to know who it is. From the fragrance and the arms she already knows it is. Sae-Byeok.
She smiles and hugs the girl in front of her, burying her face in the white button-up top.
“Hey.” she murmurs on Sae-Byeok’s uniform.
Sae-Byeok’s arms wrap around her back. “I heard what happened from the girls in your classroom. I’ll clean with you.” She pulls Ji-Yeong away and turns her eyes to Gi-Hun and Sang-Woo.
“You two better help out as well.”
くコ:彡 くコ:彡 くコ:彡
Gi-Hun coughs at the dust flying at his face caused by the sudden gust of wind.
“You okay?” asks Sang-Woo, gently patting his back.
“Yeah.” Gi-Hun says, wiping his mouth.
There was really not much to clean. Just a few litters on the ground and even those were scarce.
But they had been sentenced to this. Or rather, Ji-Yeong had been sentenced to this and it would’ve been shameless for them to not lend a hand.
They have been sweeping the same spot for thirty minutes now. (They were only allowed to eat for the first fifteen minutes of the break)
“Hey…” Gi-Hun goes up to Ji-Yeong. “I’ve been meaning to ask… why did you do it? Why did you cover for us?”
Ji-Yeong pulls a chuckle. “I’m just paying you two back.” she takes a break from sweeping and sits on the ground. “Remember just a week ago? When some assholes tried to harass me and Sae-Byeok?”
Of course they remember. It was one of the most exhilarating experiences they have ever had in their life.
Sang-Woo and Gi-Hun were walking together after school when they stumbled across Ji-Yeong and Sae-Byeok.
Beating up a group of men.
There were probably about twelve boys that were there. Five were grimacing on the ground, holding different parts of their bodies. Their faces were swollen and were covered with bruises, cuts, and blood.
Ji-Yeong and Sae-Byeok had some damage too, but not nearly as much as those five men.
Ji-Yeong was kicking and Sae-Byeok was punching. But each movement is slightly slower and weaker than the last.
The two boys didn’t know what was happening exactly. But most likely, the group of men were the ones in the wrong—so they helped out.
Sang-Woo had a nice physique so he had an easier time than Gi-Hun (who he insisted should just sit back and not get involved in the chaos, but that was too much to ask from Gi-Hun. He couldn’t just step aside.), but even though Gi-Hun had vulnerable-looking eyes, he can fight.
He landed a few good punches. Some punches landed on him.
To which Sang-Woo responded by knocking down the attacker with one direct hit.
In the end, each man was on the ground, groaning in pain.
It turns out they were just minding their own business when the sausage-fest of a squad started harassing them for no reason. Calling them homophobic and sexist slurs, asking them ‘if you’ve never tried dick how do you know you don’t like them? C’mon, we’ll change your minds’
They never had to worry about those boys telling on them. Their pride is too high to let anyone know they were beaten up by queers.
“I didn’t like feeling indebted to anyone. So with this, we’re even. Right?” she holds out her hand, offering a shake.
Gi-Hun takes her hand with a smile as Sae-Byeok approaches the two of them.
“Why the hell were you trying to cut class anyway?” she asked.
Sang-Woo has had the same question floating around his brain the whole lunch break.
“Well,” Gi-Hun looks over at Sang-Woo. He taps his hand, still holding on to the broom.
It seemed like Ji-Yeong noticed the air because she offers “You guys wanna take a little break? No one in our class is around and the yard is spotless so I don’t think anyone will notice.”
Everyone nodded and followed Ji-Yeong to the benches. Each one was only long enough to fit three people so they took two, Sae-Byeok and Jiyeong took one, and the boys took the other.
After letting their muscles rest in silence for a bit, Sang-Woo turns his head to Gi-Hun. “So,” the whole group shifts their attention to him. “do you wanna answer the question?”
Gi-Hun exhales.
“After what happened yesterday, I still felt a little bad about what you said. That you focused on your studies and sacrificed some of your fun because of me. So I wanted to give you a bit of a break from school. To help you let loose a little bit.” Gi-Hun smiles, bittersweetly.
Sang-Woo’s sight shows a flicker of iridescence. Of course this would be the reason. It's not as if Gi-Hun would just skip school just because he wants to. But Sang-Woo can't just risk getting the two of them in trouble for this. What would they even do? Where would they even go?
“Ok, so we'll cut class, and then what?” he asks, not meaning to sound so aggressive.
“Well, I've been thinking about this since last night. And I thought we could just have a little walk-date for the rest of the day. Eat a little, maybe, hang out at the bank beside the river?”
The river.
It was their favorite playing spot when they were children. Even as they grew older they would always meet there and hang out. Although recently, those sessions have been less frequent. He kinda misses it.
“We'll help you get out.” Ji-Yeong says. “Me and Sae-Byeok has cut class a few times before we know the ins and outs of the school. The best ways to sneak out.”
Sang-Woo looks at Sae-Byeok who is just lightly nodding at Ji-Yeong's statement.
“But I haven't even agree-”
“Sang-Woo.” Gi-Hun interrupts, softly. "I won't force you if you don't want to but I think it could be really fun. Just this once, hm?"
And somehow Gi-Hun's persuading smile was enough to convince him.
“Alright.”
くコ:彡 くコ:彡 くコ:彡
The four crouches down a wall, careful not to get seen by a teacher.
“Maybe this was a bad idea after all.” Sang-Woo whispers.
“Shhh! You've gone this far you can't turn back now! Now be quiet! He might hear us.” Ji-Yeong responds, even quieter.
The teacher looks around, seemingly swearing he saw something. Then, his footsteps are audible again. Slowly losing volume until finally— a slam of a door.
The bell rang a minute ago. It won't be long until people realize they're gone. Thankfully though, the back gate, which for some reason always stays open, was only five more steps away.
Five steps that they took and they were out.
“You two have fun!”Ji-Yeong says.
“Wait, you guys aren't coming along?” Gi-Hun asks.
“No, you said you wanted to go on a date with him. We'll let you two go alone.”
Gi-Hun smiles and takes Sang-Woo's hand. "Thank you." he says to the girls.
They nodded and Gi-Hun started running away from the school, dragging Sang-Woo along with him.
They ran through pavements and uphill slopes. There weren’t that many people around so it was just the two of them and the battle between the heat of the sun and the cold of the wind, passing through them as they dashed—until they were too tired to move their feet anymore.
“This should be far enough.” Gi-Hun says, through his breaths.
They put their hands down to their knees and pant. Sang-Woo looks up to see where they are.
A red vending machine beside them, a street of houses and establishments, and at the front, a bench under a tree beside a road. Next to that bench is another road, sandwiched between tall grass, that leads to the river.
“You want anything?” he can hear Gi-Hun asking, his finger pointed to the red vending machine.
“Just a sprite. I’ll buy it. What do you want?” Sang-Woo responds, taking out his wallet as he walks to the vending machine.
“A coke. Thank you.”
Sang-Woo inserts the bills into the slot, and pushes the buttons, putting one of his hands on the product dispenser. He watches as the two cans of soda fall to his reach.
He walks back to Gi-Hun and hands him the cola, Gi-Hun muttering thanks as he takes it. Gi-Hun turns his eyes at the road in front of them.
“You wanna sit on that bench and rest for a little bit?”
Sang-Woo agrees and they walk towards the seat, taking a look if there are any vehicles before crossing over and sitting on the bench.
The area was quiet like it usually is, but today it seems quieter. There was a lack of vehicles crossing the road. Normally, there would be one that passes every ten to twenty seconds but it’s less frequent today. The air was chilly and it was blowing through them non-stop, drying their sweat from the earlier sprint.
Sang-Woo hears a crack beside him and turns his head. Gi-Hun opened his can. He brings it to his mouth, taking a pretty big sip. Sang-Woo watches his throat as he swallows the liquid. He catches himself doing this and snaps out of it.
“Aren’t you gonna drink yours?” Gi-Hun asks, taking another sip from his can.
“Later. I’m not that thirsty right now.”
“After all that running? Damn you have stamina.”
They both chuckle and feel the breeze blow through them. Each gust lowers their temperature more and more. Gi-Hun closes his eyes and savors the wind, while Sang-Woo savors the sight of Gi-Hun in the wind.
After a few more minutes of the peaceful silence and the occasional motorbikes that pass through them, Gi-Hun gets up. “Well, you ready to go?”
Sang-Woo nods, takes his sprite, and follows Gi-Hun through the grass-sandwiched road.
They stride through the concrete, occasionally putting their hands in the grass, moving with the wind.
The distance from the bench to the river is about a kilometer, including the forest that you have to go through, separated by a path.
After a cozy on the head, strenuous on the feet eleven-minute walk, they finally reached it. The river.
It was as beautiful as Sang-Woo remembers. The gradient of cyan and aquamarine in the water, with rippled stripes of white flowing to the right. The river was more peaceful and had a slower flow today. The sound of the water was white noise.
Gi-Hun steps forward, half a meter away from the river. “Well!” he says, putting his hands on his hips. “It never disappoints.”
It’s true. It never does disappoint. The air was colder here, but the sun was out most of the time. And the water can vary from cold to freezing, which they liked as kids but not anymore. Back when they were children and playing here, sometimes they would soak themselves in the river and later get immensely scolded by their mothers for risking a cold and risking one of them drowning. It never stopped them from doing it, however. What did stop them though was them growing up and their care for each other growing as well. Enough to not put the other in danger, even if they have learned to swim now and their immune system has improved.
Gi-Hun sits on the ground, the way he always does, butt first then both his hands, paired with the raising of his head and closing of his eyes.
Sang-Woo follows his actions, leaning on a tree. He turns his attention to the soda can. It’s still cold but not cold enough to be as refreshing as he would want it to be. He opens the can and takes a sip.
“It was worth it, huh?” Gi-Hun asks.
Sang-Woo nods. “Maybe you'll change your mind once your mom pulls out her stick and spanks you.”
Gi-Hun frowns, but the type of frown that equates to a chuckle. “Your mom will probably beat you up too.”
“Well, that's why we're a couple.”
They laugh, even if the joke wasn’t funny.
“What would you do if you had forty-five and a half billion won?” Gi-Hun asks, looking at Sang-Woo.
“What?”
He repeats his question.
“Why are you asking that? And why forty-five and a half billion won?” Sang-Woo says, with a confused smile.
“I don’t know, I just said whatever number came to my head. And I thought it’d be interesting to know.”
Sang-Woo looks up, feigning deep thought. Gi-Hun probably just wanted to make conversation and needed a topic to talk about.
“Hmm…” Sang-Woo opens his eyes. “I’d buy a nice house for my mom and a fancy penthouse for the both of us. I’d buy a car and then… spoil you with the rest.”
Gi-Hun turns red, turning away to hide the uncontrollable curving of his lips. “But I want to spoil you.”
Sang-Woo scoffs, playfully. “As if you’d ever be rich enough to do that.”
“Hey! That’s mean!” Gi-Hun says, half words, half-laugh.
He gets up, and picks a few pebbles off the ground. “Let’s skip stones.”
“Right now?”
“Yes, right now!” He drops the pebbles in front of Sang-Woo. “Whoever skips the farthest, gets to order the other to do something.”
Sang-Woo’s heart warms up. He’s reminded of the honeycomb game he made them play to confess his love.
“I’ll go first, then.” Gi-Hun picks up a stone and walks towards the river. With one swift motion, he throws the pebble onto the water.
One. Two. Three. Four. Five. Six.
Six times, the pebble bounced and skipped, before sinking to the water, just shy of the halfway mark of the river.
Gi-Hun smiles at Sang-Woo, smug. “Well, your turn now.”
Sang-Woo gets up, claps his hands, and rubs any dirt off his pants. With his right hand, he takes a pebble from the ones in front of him. He puts his left hand on his right shoulder, massaging it a little. Then-- he swings his arm around and lets go.
The pebble doesn’t skip. Instead, it flings to just a few feet away from the other side of the river.
Gi-Hun grins. “I won!”
“No, you didn’t.” Sang-Woo counters, almost immediately. A devilish smile growing on his face.
“What?”
“You didn’t win. I did.”
Gi-Hun furrows his brows.
“You said whoever gets it the farthest wins, right? Not the one who gets the most skips?”
“No I didn’t.”
“Yes you did.”
Gi-Hun frowns. “Even if I did, which I didn’t, you would be cheating. So, I’d still win.”
“How is that cheating? You never said I couldn’t do that!” Sang-Woo smiles. “Now… what to tell you to do?”
Gi-Hun’s mouth was about to open in rebuttal when–
“Gi-Hun? Sang-Woo?”
They turn to face the voice. Followed by their hearts sinking.
It was their mothers.

To My Star - Season 2 Episode 2
How dare you Han Ji Woo?
I know he didn’t mean those things he said to Kang Seo Joon, but those things will stay with Seo Joon, even once they get back together. He will overthink every time he wants to pop Ji Woo’s pimple or wake him up at night. He will overthink every action worried that this will be a reason used for a break up again.
It’s also making me ache to think Ji Woo practiced saying all those things, knowing Seo Joon would find him for answers. This means he knew this was inevitable. He knew no corner of the world would keep him from Seo Joon.
Ji Woo kept his jumper on his bed which means Han Ji Woo is missing Kang Seo Joon to the extent that he is sleeping with a belonging of Seo Joon’s, just to feel his presence again, just to inhale a hint of his scent that has long-ago faded.
Ji Woo is living a pitiful life: Alone, with a failing restaurant. He may have brought this on to himself but he is not happy even though he clearly will stubbornly stick to this decision no matter how much he is suffering. He is probably suffering more than Seo Joon but silently, as is always the case with Ji Woo. Seo Joon has people around him, he has constant business to distract him; Ji Woo doesn’t have any of these things so I believe he is worse off in this situation. Maybe Ji Woo knows that, so he’s willing to suffer like this, believing Seo Joon will get over him with ease over time.
It was heartbreaking seeing Seo Joon paying for a meal that Ji Woo created for him, which is reminiscent of the first time they met and it gave me some hope, though it was a bittersweet feeling.
I also noticed Ji woo’s disposition has reverted to being even more silent than it was when he first met Seo Joon. He barely gives a response and prefers nodding or shaking his head. This shows how much of a toll the break up has taken on his energy.
Was I the only one who thought that idiot from last season was going to invite Ji Woo to go to Italy with him? I was so relieved he didn’t. Ho Min’s reactions to him were amazing, but I really want to see him put his foot down and be assertive so I know why he’s Seo Joon’s manager.
That ending scene broke me. I thought it was them in the apartment because of the break up. It was instead a domestic argument about hangers of all things. It hurt me to see Seo Joon’s little smile and the way he made things better by hugging Ji Woo. It made me wonder what would happen if he hugged Ji Woo like that again. Would it be the same reaction as last season, where he would try to shrug him off? Or would he finally crumble and break knowing Seo Joon is holding him together?
Whatever this is that caused the break up better be worth all this pain he’s put them both through.
Theory time:
Ji Woo had to urgently return home due to an emergency. However, there would be no reason he wouldn’t be able to tell Seo Joon. Maybe it is something that made him feel embarrassed and worthless, something that reminded him of his social stature compared to Seo Joon’s and making him feel as though he was dragging Seo Joon down.
Ji Woo wanted to make it in the world without the help of his superstar boyfriend. He was sick and tired of being defined by his association with Seo Joon and wanted to make something of himself without Seo Joon’s help. (Yet there Seo Joon is helping his business anyway).
Someone stated to Ji Woo that he is basically a parasite in Seo Joon’s life, using his wealth and social status for free. As we know Ji Woo doesn’t like to earn money for free. The only thing he can think to do is leave immediately to stop taking from Seo Joon again again. (Not realising that he’s taking Seo Joon’s heart away instead).
He is afraid people will find out about the relationship and Seo Joon will have to suffer. We know Ji Woo is wary of being found out, since he was worried about the camera in the dressing
Main questions:
Who is that girl and what is her relation to Ji Woo?
HOW FUCKING DARE YOU HAN JI WOO? Why would you put yourself and Seo Joon through this.
Essay over. I am sorry. I just have so many feelings.

2nd leads that should have ended (or had a shot) with the first lead
Admittedly, one of the many things that make kdramas very interesting is their love triangles or second lead. Although I always fall for the first lead, it was these dramas below that made me say "the 2nd lead deserved the main character more". Please don't attack me on this! HAHA These are just my opinions but you can say why the first lead deserved them more.
1. Start up
Both characters, Nam Do San (Nam Joo Hyuk) and Mr. Han Ji Pyeong (Kim So Heon) both had the looks and the brains but if Ji Pyeong wasn't afraid to make a move, he definitely deserved Dal-Mi more. Ji Pyeong was there for Dal-Mi for the longest time, was supportive, and was really loved by her grandma. However, this drama made me realized that if you don't admit your feelings about this person that you dearly liked right away, then you might miss out on having a relationship eventually. Ji Pyeong was just too slow in coming clean with Dal Mi about who really wrote those letters. He had the opportunity to do so in the beginning but he didn't. He also had the opportunity to pursue her when Do San when to San Francisco... BUT NOOO!! HE WAS A CHICKEN I CANT!!!  However, if he did come clean, then there wouldn't be a drama after all 😂
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I thought Ji Pyeong would end up with Seo In Jae (Dal Mi’s sister)  but I guess being friends isn’t that bad!
Tumblr media
2. True Beauty
I'm a big fan of Cha Eun Woo but i think Hwang In-Youp's character, Han Seo-Jun also had a big shot in being Lim Ju-Kyung's leading man. Yes, Lee Su-Ho (Cha Eun-Woo) knew how Ju Kyung looked like bare faced before seeing her with makeup and eventually still fell in love with her with and without makeup, Seo-Jun was that type of guy that despite being notorious, had that soft side in him that can take care of women. This show was definitely about how it is really the personality that makes you fall in love with a person. Seo-Jun met Ju-Kyung when she had full make up on but still liked her when she saw how she looked without makeup. Liking someone is surely about how one makes you feel, aka how their personality affects you.
Tumblr media
^When Jung Kyung did this to him IT WAS SO CUTE! Like he really fell for her lol.
Tumblr media
Oh well, they would have been cute together.  Sorry Su-ho! ✌🏻
3. Itaewon Class
Another Park Seo Joon kdrama that i liked but i did not like who he ended up with! Park Seo-Joon's first love is Soo-ah, is a career driven woman.  Soo-ah had a lot of conflict of interest, having to choose between Jangga Group, where she works, and Sae-ro-yi (Park Seo Joon). It sucks though that Soo-Ah led Sae-ro-yi for the longest time that he ended up falling in love with Yi-Seo. At some point, I truly believed that Soo-Ah should have given up Jangga Group especially during the time when it was affecting Sae-ro-yi. When you really love a person but also love your career, you really have to choose which one you are willing to keep and give up. Although (i think) she was already willing to sacrifice her career to be with Sae-ro-yi, it was already too late. He already fell in love with Yi-Seo. This drama taught us that life really gives you battles such as choosing your career over your love life or vice versa. However, if you choose one over the other too much, you really miss out the opportunity of the other.   Nevertheless, with the perfect timing, you will eventually get what you deserve (I think Soo-Ah ended up with Park Bo Gum in that drama, they would be really cute) .
Tumblr media
YI-SEO REALLY HAD TO RUIN IT SO ANNOYING!! HAHAHAH
Tumblr media
In this scene though I disagree with Soo-ah. She’s the biggest fool for leading him on!
Tumblr media
^THEY WERE SO CUTE HERE I WAS FANGIRLING SO HARD
Anyway, I will be posting more about these in the future! My next line up would be Reply 1988 (even though I love park bo gum), She Was Pretty, and Love Alarm season 2.

here’s a list of the best, mediocre and worst kdramas i watched in 2020
no one asked for this but it’s happening because i have thoughts (also all opinions are my own if you disagree then get well soon i guess... no i’m kidding make your own posts about it don’t hate me please) ahsjsj anyways click to read a lengthy post and if you actually read the whole thing then thank you i hope you enjoy this wild ride!
THE BEST KDRAMAS -
mystic pop up bar - this show had everything i ask from a kdrama literally i can name it all found family (to real family), well thought out characters, a mystery plot, special effects, soft romances that were well written, a happy ending! no show in 2020 even comes close to how good this one was! the writers literally guided you throughout the whole thing so you could come up with theories and didn’t do a ‘aha! gotcha’ thing where they want to prove the audience wrong but they wanted us to be right and satisfied! the worst part about the drama is that it’s still so underrated and people just brush it off as some random fantasy show but it’s so much more than that! 1000/10
flower of evil - who doesn’t want to see lee joon gi being the son of a serial killer, living with the name of a man who is in a coma, and hiding his real identity from his wife who is a detective? this show constantly had me at the edge of my seat on a weekly basis so the emotions i went through while watching this are unparalleled! the writers also did such a good job on writing a coherent story that made sense and tied up all the plot points in the end. just a really satisfying show to watch! 10/10
where your eyes linger - i literally bought a $8 viki pass to watch this show so it should tell you everything you need to know about how i feel ahsjsj the episodes were 10 minutes long but we got a good story with well written characters who got character development in a total of 80 minutes it’s insane! honestly it’s still hard to believe this show had rookie actors because they were just so emotive that you could feel all the happiness, sadness, yearning and pining! probably one of my fave kdramas this year because of the acting that i always constantly rewatch! would recommend 10/10
crash landing on you - okay so this drama was actually released on my birthday last year and it was a time in my life when i was going through a lot so maybe it’s the comfort this show provided me through that time this is why i have such a soft spot for it? like the romance was good, it was funny, there was found family, the nk soldiers were all softies, there were strong female leads, soft male leads!!! ahh!! no other show on this list made me think about the unification of south korea and north korea irl because i wanted se ri and jeong hyeok to be together 4ever! but the only issue i had with this show was the ending they gave seung jun if they didn’t do that i’d give this show a 10/10 but just for that they get a 9/10
psycho but it’s okay - this was one of those shows where you’re literally like ‘wow everyone here needs therapy’ but this show was amazing i loved the story telling and how each episode related to children’s book/fairytales! the writers also did a good job with how carefully they talked about mental health in depth without villainising their characters but actually tried to make the audience understand why they were this way which included all the side characters too who had a well thought out story in each episode! also the dynamic between moon young, kang tae and sang tae was everything to me the actors all did an amazing job portraying their characters, it truly was a healing drama. the only thing i didn’t like about this show was the whole plastic surgery plot with the mother like that was very far fetched but it provided drama so i’ll let it slide because the rest was amazing. this show is a solid 8.5/10
18 again - another underrated gem! who would’ve thought a remake of that zac efron movie could be this good!! lee do hyun stole this show for sure the way he portrayed his character and gave heart eyes to his kids (when he’s only 25 irl was the best thing i saw this year ahsjs) i loved the family dynamics in this show, i loved how it talked about what it’s like to be young parents and how society still think it’s taboo to be divorced! it’s a show that makes you laugh and cry at the same time and that’s why everyone should watch it! however, the biggest clown thing this show did to me though was that i got sls for the first time while watching a kdrama... hwang in yeop if u’re reading this i love u and u deserved better 🤡 that aside this show was a 8/10
itaewon class - i actually didn’t watch this drama as it was airing because i thought i wouldn’t enjoy the plot but when i watched it i binged the whole thing in 2 days and my biggest regret is i didn’t watch it sooner! everyone knows i have a soft spot for park seo joon since he’s my favourite actor i’ve literally watched all his dramas like he could star in the trashiest drama out there and i’d still watch it and be like wow (looking at she was pretty 👀) this show aside from the acting had one of the best revenge plots in a kdrama! just watching a character realistically hustle his way to reach the top while fighting the corrupt man whose son killed his father was so so satisfying to watch! however, the love triangle in this show was questionable idk what they were trying to do with that but it personally annoyed me! but still i’ll give this show a 7.5/10 because i enjoyed it a lot!
do you like brahms? - kim min jae and park eun bin.. that’s all you need to know about why this is a good kdrama! i’m usually not a big fan of melodramas and everyone knows i prefer rom coms but this show was just so perfectly melo that i loved all the angst and pain we got!! also just watching two introverted people awkwardly fall in love was amazing! the characters story arcs were also handled pretty well with song ah finally learning to speak up for herself and joon young learning to express how he truly feels! but... the love square? was probably the most annoying thing the rest in my opinion was nicely done! i know people had mixed feelings about the ending but i loved that after all the pain joon young and song ah went through they got a happy ending together! 7/10
find me in your memory - okay this show started off very slow and it was confusing at the start but as it progressed everything in the plot started to fall into place! i mean this show really took opposites attract to a new level where the male lead could remember every single detail from his life but the female lead had to forget some of her traumatic memories to help her cope with her life! they were also tied together through a mutual character who was a big part of their lives in a different way! just an interesting melodrama with interesting characters i liked it! and moon ga young... i love you queen!!! 7/10
THE MEDIOCRE KDRAMAS -
more than friends - was the storytelling in this show groundbreaking? no. was the acting decent? yes. also probably the main reason i stuck with this show until the end! i think we can all agree lee soo had the best character development on this show he started off as a bad boy who wore one ear stud to actually becoming a well liked character... who else did it like him? no one. also the chemistry between the mains was 🔥 but the second male lead was so annoying is there a opposite word for second lead syndrome because i had that for sure! i think the best part about this show was the people i watched it with on here... shoutout to the five of us ahsjsj also this show introduced me to a talented actor/singer like ong seong wu (y’all know my kpop knowledge is nonexistent so no i didn’t know he was in a band called wanna one) all in all a predictable show but i had fun watching it so 6.5/10
tale of the nine tailed - i didn’t actually watch this show i watched it through gifs and instagram posts ahsjsjs so am i qualified to talk about my opinion definitely no... will I talk about it anyways yes lmao. lee rang deserved better that’s all goodbye and take care. 5.5/10
start up - probably one of the most awaited opinions. y’all thought this would be in the worst kdramas section but i decided to give this show some rights. the show started off strong, lost it’s way after episode 6 and then the last episode gave me what i wanted so i have mixed feelings. the writing was not the best i think we can all agree, love triangle as a plot device? wow so groundbreaking 🤡 the characters on the other hand... i loved every single one of them i mean ship wars? i don’t know her. the show had a lot of potential that was wasted but we also got some cute moments between the characters so there was really no winning or losing with this show? but in all honesty you can’t put a talented cast together like this and then just decide to give the audience a mediocre plot but the writers did exactly that! i think i can redirect y’all to my ‘crimes this show committed’ post for a in-depth analysis. lastly nam do san was a GOOD and REFRESHING male lead and ji pyeong was also a GOOD and FUN second male lead!!! this show gave me the ugliest ship war ever that i was transported back to my high school tvd days so thank you for that!! but the cast was loveable and all had a lot of chemistry together so here’s a 5/10 maybe that's too generous but... i think the reason why i didn't enjoy watching this show as much was definitely because of the tag on here lmao
THE WORST KDRAMAS -
the king eternal monarch - i miss clowning this show so much. the amount of braincells i lost while trying to understand this plot... i should be compensated by the writers. however, woo do hwan was a treat to look at on a weekly basis... however the writers kept decreasing his screen time even though he had a dual role... make it make sense? and i cannot comment on the plot of this show because i still don’t understand anything? also in my opinion tae eul and lee gon were the most bland couple of 2020, there was no chemistry between them and there was just a random kiss in episode 5 and they randomly said i love you... where was the development? also lee gon was soooo boring and such a one dimensional male lead! literally all the side characters were so much more interesting and the cast was good... but this plot. 2/10
do do sol sol la la sol - i wanna fight the writer who decided that the plot twist on the show would be that jun is a minor? i had no expectations from this show but it looked cute and nonsensical but that plot twist made me run the other way so fast that i never looked back! just because jun is a boy they really thought this would be excused like lmao we all have critical thinking skills???? the clown behaviour. a solid 1/10
record of youth - i hate this show so much. imagine not utilising park so dam who just starred in the biggest oscar winning movie to her full potential. imagine just making her a love interest to park bo gum’s character in the year 2020. i watched it up until episode 6 and i kept waiting for her character to get development... but it never happened so i dropped this show. also this show featured the MOST useless love triangle i have ever seen in my life like what was the point? also park bo gum’s characters family was straight up annoying (minus the grandpa) but they got so much screen time like that should’ve been given to park so dam... also villainising a gay side character for no reason at all in the year 2020? this show was a waste of my time i want the 6 hours i spent watching this back. -100/10
backstreet rookie - i watched one episode of this and literally wanted to rip my eyeballs out of my head. idk what ji chang wook was thinking when he signed this drama i think he lost his ability to read because that's the only reasonable explanation for why he chose to star in such a dumpster fire show! this show had a racist character... had a high schooler kiss an adult... sexist jokes... just the worst things you can think of in a drama... this show had it. i still can’t believe so many people watched this show to the point where it had better ratings than pbio... really made me question everyone’s taste? but sorry can’t relate my taste is excellent so here’s the rating this show actually deserves -1000/10
if you made it this far... thank you for reading. let’s continue to love some kdramas together and get clowned by others in 2021! looking forward to it 😅

Game time!
Most to least likely to argue with a kid, How to Fight characters 👌
—Crazy Ghost
HtF Characters Most to Least Likely to fight Argue w/ Children:
(sorry this also turned "how they act with kids" headcanons haha. enjoy~)
Most- Lee Hyunsoo. absolute bratty bastard man. would even fight a kid if he had to.
Han Gyeoul. she'd fight just about anyone, if a kid was being bratty she'd threaten them, lol.
Ga Eul. think of how she interacts with her dad. that'd be her with kids. angry old man~
Choi Bomi. she's a kind girl, but wouldn't hesitate to argue with a kid if they were being difficult.
Ji Yeonwoo. he's nice, but probably not good with kids. would scold a child, forget they're a kid, and argue as if they were the same age as him. he'd give up if they're too hardheaded.
244. would argue with a kid, but in a playful way. doesn't care about them otherwise.
Baek Seongjoon. doesn't give a sh!t about kids. tells them to go f*ck off and run to their mommies. on camera, however, he knows how to act as if he's the nicest papa in the word.
Kim Moonseong. doesn't care for kids, but is nice to them.
Seong Taehoon. are you surprised he's not higher on the list? he's like his dad, lightly whacks them if they're being naughty, but other than that just lets them do whatever. if i recall correctly, @kaasjee has a post about TaeYeon with kids, so check out her blog!
Han Wangguk. he's best oppa, knows how to take care of children and quietly supervises them.
Woo Jihyeok/Jiksae. a little awkward with kids, but enthusiastic enough that kids will think he's fun to be with.
Yeo Rumi. best auntie to kids, kids would have a crush on her type thing. gives them treats and shows them fun games to play.
Yoo Hobin. surprisingly good with children! knows how to play with them, doesn't argue but will ignore them if they're being bratty, so the kid will feel bad and apologize.
Hwang Mangi. really good with children, super nice and gentle, but tends to avoid them 'cause his appearance scares them off :( Mangi, UP!!!
Least- Lee Dowoon. beautiful cinnamon roll too good for this world, too pure. the most wholesome with kids.
thanks for the suggestion, crazy ghost! this was super fun to do ^^ let me know what you guys think!

Squid Game Thoughts
Warning: SPOILERS!!
Tumblr media
Red Light, Green Light Rules: Move when you hear Green Light and freeze when you hear Red Light. Keep moving until you reach the goal. Easy, right??
Well, apparently not, move and you get shot in Squid Games
So…would the players get shot if the doll is facing away and hasn’t said Green Light??? Like can they move during Red Light as the doll’s head turns away from them??
I guess they can’t move during Red Light or when the doll turns away since there are guys with PlayStation buttons on their faces with GUNS watching them
Tumblr media
Player 001 is just having the time of his life while almost half of the 456 players got massacred playing Red Light, Green Light
Tumblr media
Goblin???
Ji Eun-tak, collect your man
Grim Reaper would have left him to rot lol
I’m a little curious as how he convinced show villain Jang Deok-su (Player 101) to get into Squid Game in the first place lol
Tumblr media
Say what you will about Sang-woo, but his characterization was interesting to watch
I don’t necessarily agree with the things he did, but he learned very quickly that Squid Game is a kill or be killed environment and one needs to survive in order to get ahead
Deok-su is an obvious show villain. Yes, he still sucks as a person and is in no way a decent human being, but he lacked the charisma and cunning nature of a true antagonist
With Gi-hun as the main character, he needed someone to match with his protagonist role and Sang-woo fulfilled that perfectly as the true antagonist
Tumblr media
Also, fuck you Sang-woo for this game
He fucking knew what game they were playing next and he choose the triangle like the ambitious and opportunistic villain that he is
Tumblr media
You know Gi-hun got screwed over the moment he chose the umbrella
Ok…when Gi-hun started licking the dalgona…is that a loophole or a technicality??
Because the rules state that he needs to remove the shape from the dalgona. Every player was given the needle (??) to remove the shape they chose, but the rules did NOT say HOW the shape needed to be removed
Or, I simply don’t remember if they mentioned how the player is supposed to take out the shape
Either way, it seems like a loophole to me
I guess Squid Game overlooks loopholes but does not condone to cheating
Tumblr media
When they started purposely giving the players less food, I thought that was one cruel yet ingenious way to weed out the weaker players
Kind of like proving that the worst in humanity comes out in the moment when it’s survival of the fittest
Tumblr media
I am still on the investigation of how Jun-ho’s phone didn’t need to be charged for like four days
Theory 1: I noticed his battery got lower the more risky or life-threatening the situation became for him. So I concluded that his phone battery symbolizes his lifeline, the moment his phone died then he did too
Or, it could simply be his battery is low cause he hasn’t charged it haha
Tumblr media
I will forever hold a grudge for Sang-woo no thanks to this moment
Sang-woo you bastard. It was brilliantly cruel and selfish. In a way, I think he walked away so he wouldn’t see Ali’s face when he realizes that Sang-woo betrayed him and even flinched when he heard the gun shot, because if he didn’t truly care about Ali then it wouldn’t affect him at all if he died
That plus adding Gi-hun’s not-so-heroic moment of trying to take advantage of Player 001’s loss of memory due to his brain tumor during this game
Then that old man played us by knowing Gi-hun was doing this and wasn’t mad at him, cue tears that will soon dry
The glass bridge is probably where I would be scared out of my mind if I played this game
Sang-woo continues to be a villain by pushing that guy in the end. Tbh, he’s been developing into the villain role since like Episode 3
Of course it all narrows down to the true antagonist Sang-woo, beautiful yet deadly Sae-byeok, and ridiculously lucky protagonist Gi-hun
KDrama logic dictates that Gi-hun will win since he’s the protagonist
Can I be angry about how Sae-byeok got eliminated?? That was injustice
Ding ding ding!! Sang-woo is officially our antagonist. I knew it!!!
Jun-ho dies. Well, damn……he hasn’t told me the secrets of how his phone didn’t need to be charged for four days
The Frontman was a former winner of Squid Game. WTF?? Okay! We need a season 2 to explain this
Sang-woo dies. Damn, a character that developed into a great villain died too??
Gi-hun is 45.6 billion won richer but 455 people had to die for it which makes the phrase blood money quite literal
He’s also traumatized for life as an added bonus
Player 001 proves to us as to why we shouldn’t have wasted our tears on him
Tumblr media
This is random but Gi-hun looks good with red hair
According my research, his red hair is supposed to symbolize his inner anger
This is the end, really???
GET ON THE FUCKING PLANE!!!!!
End

Chapter 11.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We got Hyun Ji & Si Woo + Mi Soo Unni & Joon Oppa GIFs cause these 4 are front and centre this chapter.
Chapter 12.
You looked at your best friends, their faces were a blank slate. Nothing could give away what either of them was thinking.
Both of them wouldn’t look at you. Instead of looking at the pictures on the wall behind you. However, you could see them holding hands. If anything, good came out of today, it was that Si Woo and Hyun Ji were finally a couple. You sighed, they looked at each other. Opened their mouths to say something before closing them again.
You rolled your eyes at them, before looking at Mi Soo Unnie who was standing behind the sofa. Mi Soo Unnie nodded her head and came to where you were standing in front of the sofa.
“So, Monica and Chandler how are we figuring this out?” Unnie asked bluntly. You couldn’t help but laugh at the Friends reference. Mi Soo Unnie was a big fan. Watching Friends episodes were her way to destress from wedding planning.
In the last few months, Mi Soo Unnie had made many a comment about how Si Woo and Hyun Ji were similar to Monica and Chandler.
The two in question looked at each other and then pointed at you. You looked at them confused but they just shrugged their shoulders in unison. You shuddered to see them be so in sync with each other.
“Nah this is not fair, why am I the only one who has to deal with this. What happened to all for one and one for all” You exclaimed frustrated. Hoping that seeing you get frustrated.
Si Woo and Hyun Ji would change their mind. It made no difference, however; they kept their poker faces but did reply to you.
“Well, all for one and one for all still counts YNie but not when the issue at hand is Lee Hae Sung, we’ve never claimed to be his best friend and quite frankly I don’t want anything to do with the dickhead but eh we put up with him for you and it was probably the same for him too.” Si Woo told you calmly, with Hyun Ji nodding her head in agreement.
You knew that Si Woo was right. No matter how much you tried to get Si Woo, Hyun Ji and Hae Sung to get along, they didn’t. You knew that most of the time it was the four of you, they all just pretended to care about one another.
Asking and talking enough to make anyone think that they were good friends.
“YNie, Si Woo has a point. I’ve seen you four hang out and it was clear to see that Lee Hae Sung didn’t want to be there with them. His duality is madness. One minute he would happily be talking to you and then Si Woo says something and there’s a look of disgust. But in a flash that expression has changed into a fake smile” Mi Soo Unnie said. You frowned, in all the years of being best friends with Hae Sung. How have you not noticed this. None of what has been revealed to you makes any sense to you. You just don’t understand why Hae Sung would do any of this.
Seeing your expression change. Hyun Ji got up and hugged you, you held on tight to her and burst out crying. Shocked at this sudden change, Si Woo and Mi Soo Unnie hugged you too. You were being hugged from all sides, it wasn’t until you calmed down, that the impromptu group hug ended. Now you were sitting on the sofa in between Si Woo and Hyun Ji, with one arm around your shoulder and the other holding your hand. All three of you looked at Mi Soo Unnie but before anyone could say anything.
Joon Oppa and your Eomma came into the house. Eomma going straight up to her room and Joon Oppa stood next to Mi Soo Unnie in front of you three with a thunderous expression. Unnie alarmed at his expression immediately hugged him, Joon Oppa hugged her back and started whispering to her. You tried to listen in, but they were talking too fast for you to even understand the conversation.
Getting tired of being out of this conversation that was about you. By the way, both Mi Soo Unnie and Joon Oppa would turn their heads to look at you. All three of you on the sofa cleared your throats. Laughing your Unnie and her fiancé let go of each other and turned to face the three of you sat on the sofa.
“So YN, you know how we thought the video was as bad as it got” Joon Oppa started to say but never got to finish as you interrupted him.
“Lee Hae Sung’s Eommoni has been controlling my life through education for the last few years.” You say calmly. After watching the video, a lot of things that had happened in terms of getting into schools and scholarships or in your case not getting them made a lot of sense.
“Wait, how exactly has she been controlling YN’s life through education?” Hyun Ji questioned. While she had watched the video that Jae Yi had, she was under the impression, that this was the only time Lee Hae Sung had interfered in your life by going to his Eommoni to get something done.
“Ah my dear Hyun Ji, let me explain how that little shit has been controlling my dear little sister’s life,” Joon Oppa said. At that, all three of you got comfortable on the sofa. Knowing Joon Oppa’s love for theatrics, he was going to make this into a big ordeal, make a whole spectacle of this.
Laughing Mi Soo Unnie told Joon Oppa to wait as she would bring Popcorn for this. Letting her get settled with her bowl of Popcorn that you ate out of despite her protests. Joon Oppa cleared his throat and you all turned to him, ready to listen.
“So, from the video, we know that Hae Sung’s Eommoni Kang Soo Hee was the one who made Gong Jae Yi’s principal choose him for that School exchange, even though he hadn’t applied and didn’t want to go but his principal forced him to go anyway.”
“Well, this meeting that we had with the Private Investigator the Gong’s hired to look into if Kang Soo Hee had done similar things to others or it was just a one-off and well the results were surprising but not at the same time.”
“Every scholarship that YN applied for that was rejected, had initially been accepted but it was because of Kang Soo Hee that all the schools were forced into rejected YN’s application or face losing funding and support from the local education board. That time she applied to change to Gong Jae Yi’s High School, her application was accepted.”
“The principal was proud to have such a topper as one of his students in his school but again due to pressure from Kang Soo Hee. Her application was rejected. From what the Private Investigator said, Kang Soo Hee was already making plans to interfere with YN’s University applications as well.” Joon Oppa laid it all out for us. Sure, you guessed this was the case but a part of you still didn’t want to believe it. A last-ditch attempt at hoping, that Hae Sung wasn’t as bad. As you all were assuming from this news.
“But Oppa, just because Kang Soo Hee was doing all this, that doesn’t mean it was because Hae Sung was telling her, she could just be doing it herself.” You said slowly. This was a feeble attempt to not be assuming that Hae Sung was the real mastermind behind all this.
You were hoping to be right, that Hae Sung wasn’t involved in all this. Even if Gong Jae Yi yesterday had said that he thought Hae Sung was the reason for his leaving, the end of your relationship. That didn’t make it true. Hae Sung could be completely innocent in all this. He might not know that his Eommoni was doing all this, abusing her power this way to make sure you never got any of the scholarships you applied for or schools you applied for.
Joon Oppa sadly shook his head. He knew what was going through your head and as much as he wanted to lie to you. Tell you what you wanted to hear. He couldn’t do that. You needed to know the truth. Joon Oppa didn’t know what exactly you would do after finding out, but he was sure that Lee Hae Sung was out of your life for the foreseeable future or even forever.
“I’m sorry kiddo, there’s evidence that the Private Investigator found of Hae Sung being the one to tell Kang Soo Hee about your scholarships, school applications and Gong Jae Yi. He told her to make sure that you didn’t get accepted for anything. Nothing that would mean you went to a new school away from him and in terms of what to do with Gong Jae Yi. Hae Sung just told Kang Soo Hee to make him leave. For being the head of the local education board, Kang Soo Hee’s way of hiding everything was to just have a backup phone that could be hacked into. I’m sending you everything you need to confront Hae Sung with” Joon Oppa told you. You were crying again and not even hiding it. Again, everyone surrounded you in a group hug, which somehow ended in all five of you falling onto the floor.
As much as you hated confrontation, you knew like the time you confronted Hae Sung about almost hurting Hyun Ji, you would be doing this again. Unlike last time where you knew that at some point you would forgive Hae Sung. After all, you’d found out, there was no forgiving Lee Hae Sung now. How could you even forgive someone who had been taking away opportunities from you. Things you worked hard for, applied for, and then cried to Hae Sung about not getting them. Hae Sung let you cry on his shoulder for being rejected, feeling like you would amount to nothing. Meanwhile, it was his fault that you were being rejected, that you broke up with your boyfriend.
For what, so you wouldn’t leave him. Hae Sung was in for a reckoning because you weren’t going to let his anger or your fear for his mean words get to you this time.
Your friends and Seo Jun had helped you in realising that you were more than the mean words Hae Sung would fling at you in anger. You were confident in knowing that you would have everyone’s help in confronting Lee Hae Sung.

Our Beloved Summer (2022)
Tumblr media
Summary: Ten years after filming a documentary about their high school days, two former lovers are once more put back in front of the camera and must now deal with unresolved feelings.
My Rating: 10/10
Pros: This show has everything. Amazing lead couple. Second lead to die for. Funny and relatable side characters. The most amazing parents on film. Heartbreak. Happiness. Falling in love. Dealing with family. What it means to grow up. Honestly it’s just perfection, and so are Choi Woo-shik, Kim Da-mi, and Kim Sung-cheol. The cinematography and soundtrack are some of the best and take this show to the next level.
Cons: Get your tissues ready because this show is an emotional roller coaster. I would need to set aside time to watch new episodes because I knew the show was going to shatter my heart and then reconstruct it every week.
Fanfic-ability: 10/10. The ships, the dynamics, the backstories are a gold mine for angst, fluff, and everything else.
This show is honestly the closest to perfection that I’ve watched. It takes the tropes of former lovers and enemies to lovers and presents them with so much heart and care that they don’t feel stale at all. Even the love triangle? rectangle? was so well crafted that there were no villains, no misunderstandings, just a well-plotted story that evolved naturally. The family dynamics were so heartfelt, and I cared deeply about every character. I can’t say enough about this show except go watch it! More under the cut.
Kim Sung-cheol was just incredible in this show. Ji-ung’s story broke my heart so many times that honestly I was rooting for him at one point. Everything about his mother and his childhood just hurt so badly, but the love that Ung and his family showed him made it bearable. I am so grateful the writers did not choose to give us a dramatic showdown between the two brothers. They are better than that, and the audience is better for it.
The family dynamics were very relatable, and watching the three leads deal with their caregivers as children and then adults was amazing to watch. And I am SO happy that Yeon-su’s grandmother and Ji-ung’s mother ended up living. The show didn’t need the plot twists, and by doing the opposite of what you would expect made the show seem so fresh. I particularly liked how Ji-ung was honest with his mother that he wouldn’t forgive her, but that he wanted her to live so he could one day. Such a great way to wrap up that story and leave everyone with hope and healing.
I have an official crush on Choi Woo-shik. Ung was the absolute best boyfriend ever, and although I’m not a person who likes cute fluff he got me right in the heart every episode. His acting is no joke, and the chemistry between him and Kim Sung-cheol and him and Kim Da-mi was the absolute best. I love how his growth was as real as everyone else’s, even if it was quieter. And he gave the best quotes as the most relatable character.
I could gush all day about NJ, Eun-ho and Sol-i, Yeon-su’s team, the documentary crew, but just go watch it and see for yourself. And don’t forget to check out the OST, especially “Christmas Tree”, which I’ve had on repeat for weeks.
