In any Omegaverse AU where Jiang Cheng is an omega, I imagine that Yunmeng Jiang has a much higher ratio of omega cultivators (and cyvillians) than any other sect. It kinda makes sense to me that omegas would chose to go there is given a choice - with the Yunmeng sect being so very defensive, build around an omega leader that had no time for shit and protected his own with his life.
Where else would they go?
To the Lan, that are so repressed that heats happen in seclusion and everyone is required to mute their scent 24/day and you can't openly find an alpha to fuck out of wedlock?
The Nie, led by alphas and basing their hierarchy on physical prowess? They don't discriminate against omegas - not in the usual way at least. But being the "weaker gender" never worked for anyone in Qinghe.
The Jin? Please -___- Jin Guangshan left the sort of a legacy that no omega worth their salt wanted to risk.
Yunmeng Jiang it is.
And the choice is a good one, because while Jiang Cheng doesn't cosnider his secondary gender anything pay attention to - he's okay with allowing his disciples the freedom to express it how they want. As long as the job is being done and no one disgraces the sect, the omegas can do what they want with their heats, the alphas can woo uninterrupted, children happen in and out of wedlock (more people, yay!). When out of wedlock, the kids are claimednby the Sect and raised by a flock of aunties (older omegas that lost their families in the war and needed to be givena job - JC found them a job) and it all kinda goes on.
Merging it with the idea that most of the Jiang disciples are basically Wei Wuxian 2.0. Jiang Cheng is the one outlier ruling over a pack of Wei Wuxians that think he's the bee's knees!
So, he ends up with a pack of gender-varied disciples that adore him and want the best for him, and are incredibly pushy about helping him with anything and everything.
And it all comes to head when post-novel, the disciples see their Leader brought to a lower point that they've ever seen him. And, the worst part, he's not healing.
The omegas in the pack instantly pinpoint the issue - with the pup (Jin Ling) gone, their sect leader has nothing to distract him from the dark clouds hanging over him. Nothing to make him want to wake up in the morning, apart from running his sect. It's a very dangerous position for an omega to be in.
Zgonghzu didn't even go through a heat in ages! There's nothing to take his mind off things, not even a bit of physical pelasure. That's very bad.
They are the only thing Jiang Cheng has left, so they have to start pulling their weight. They have to save their sect leader!
The plotting begins.

the lotus pier of jiang chengs childhood is gone, its disciples and vendors, even its stray cats ran off or died in the fires. but the world repeats itself in funny ways and as the years go on from its rebuilding some of the things he remembers come back. one day jiang cheng notices that the shimeis use the same pond as their predecessors to get away from the boys, without having ever met them, the new merchants that move into town find themselves laying out their stalls in the same formation, he finds a stray with her kittens tucked away into the same corner as the cats from his childhood had used, despite the whole area having been burnt and rebuilt. his youngest disciples sit in the same corner of the food hall, the older ones find the same inns to drink at, the teens still dare each other to jump from that one tree into the lake. the lotus pier of his childhood may be gone, his parents, sister and brother too, but things have a funny way of repeating themselves that are both excruciatingly painful and warm at once.

Fun idea:
Wei Wuxian gets his own Yunmeng Jiang disciples in disguise squads. This is because one time Jin Ling mentioned that Wei Wuxian was hurt on a night hunt and Jiang Cheng's anxiety levels hit a new peak, so he, in the fashion of people who take their hot iron on vacation, put assigned a squad of Yunmeng Jiang disciples as a protection detail.
YMJ disciple: So you want us to observe Wei Wuxian to study demonic cultivation?
JC (dead serious but also lying through his teeth): Absolutely, WWX is the foremost expert but he'll never tell us his secrets. It is of utmost important that he remain alive and well, so we can study him to ensure we are prepared for new demonic cultivation inventions.
YMJ disciple (not buying this for a second but willing to give the SL some face: Sounds legit.
-
A few months into the assignment.
YMJ disciple A (distressed) about WWX: He totally knows!
YMJ disciple B: He knows nothing.
YMJ disciple C: I've been a random rogue cultivator, a helpful villager and then a conveniently wandering on the same night hunt. That man can't remember faces for shit.

And now updated Sect Leader Jiang a la El Jaleo by John Singer Sargent. I’m glad you all liked this concept from when I posted the value study earlier (seriously I didn't expect that many people to like a simple value study but such is the genius of Sargent)…the enthusiasm made me more excited to finish the piece!
Sure he’s not gripping Zidian very well and I don’t see how he wouldn’t slice off his own leg with Sandu positioned like that, but it looks awesome so it all works out. Probably. Sargent has always been willing to make stuff up for the aesthetics.
Now for a detail view of Sandu Shengshou:
See under the cut for my head canons for the OG JC stans, the gremlin disciples.
Which disciple are you?
(1) Xichen?! He let himself in I had no say 2) Having a good time 3) Probably a Spider from Yu Sect. V proud of SLJ 4) Jiang Sect musician. San xian [a traditional Chinese instrument] which is made of snake skin 5) Always wants a glimpse of Sect Leader but is subtle about it 6) Wants a glimpse and is LOUD and PROUD about it 7) Hype squad! Particularly hypes feral JC even more 8) VP of SDSS fan club. Jin Ling is Prez obvs.)

If Wei Wuxian's parents were still alive, you can bet that he wouldn't have to hide scars that came from zidian, he wouldnt have to smile away his pain because that was the only way to get throught, he wouldn't have to listen to people speaking ill of his parents and he probably wouldnt have felt that he needed to give up his golden core either.
He would have probably had scars that came from tripping or falling like all children do, he wouldnt hide them either. He'd just smile and recount the story with joy. If he felt pain, he would go to his parents and they would comfort him with warmth and reassurance that they were there for him. And he would only hear laughter and loving words from his parents, because they would never need to tell him harsh, unforgiving words.
