Fair enough. You have facts so do I. I can't vote because I am a resident alien and proud of it. You're entitled to your opinion and I'm entitled to mine. You never answered my question though; I asked what Phil Ochs had against Malcolm X and why in the song he clearly states Malcolm deserved to be shot dead. Why did Malcolm deserve to be shot dead? His role was Muslims and any means necessary. Keep that in mind Mr. Satire.
it’s not a matter of opinion. the song is satirical, no doubt about it.
he had nothing against malcolm x, he very likely was a fan of malcolm x. he is singing from the point of view of someone who pretended to care about social justice until it became “too radical”. he didn’t mean literally any of the lyrics in his song, and he was making fun of those who think things like that. that’s what satire is, using ironic comedy in art in order to criticize poor behavior.
despite what the lyrics of the song say, they aren’t actually the opinions of phil ochs. if you listen to his other music, or research his life, you’ll find that he was very far left in his political standing, and would have fervently supported malcolm x. he was a big advocate of civil rights.
please don’t call me “mr.” by the way, i’m a girl.
