Much like everything in his life, James Potter was quick to catch on. He could see the red string on his pinky finger from the moment his parents’ owl nipped at it. The boy could not have been more than three feet tall. Surprising his mother with the question. Surprised by the fact that she could not see it. When she explained to the precocious four-year-old that it would lead to someone he’d love, he tied it around his mother’s wrist.

When Euphemia Potter tried to explain that it did not work that way and that it led to someone very special, someone that, if he were very lucky, he would meet one day. And he would feel a tug pulling him to them, and they would fall in love.

And just for good measure, James tied the string around her wrist again. Because who could ever be more important than his mother? He could not imagine.

Growing up, James made sure to tie his fate to the people he cared about most. To love that he hoped would last forever. His father, who looked at him, endeared. The family cat, who had hissed at him as he twisted it around its tail. His first broom, because he could not tie it to the sky itself.

It wasn’t until he stood on platform 9¾ that he felt it tug for the first time. A distinct pull at his finger. His eyes were shooting around the crowd of people—students and parents. String tangled up in the mess of them, in the intricate web of knots and bows he’d created throughout his life. While he could not tell who tugged at him, he knew they were there.

His person. 

It would take years for him to find the end of the string. Despite the tugging, despite knowing that this person was somewhere there, he tied it to others. Though not before thoroughly inspecting their hands, just to make sure these were not it.

First, Sirius, on their second day, just as they woke up, piled into the same bed after the sugar crash. He wound it around his friend’s thumb, who sat staring sleep drunk while he worked it around his thumb. He could almost feel it when he wriggled it, trying to see it as well.

Then Remus, the first time they visited him in the hospital wing, His heart was aching as his friend insisted that it was nothing. Just a headache. A migraine. He’d be back soon. He wrapped it around his index finger, and for a moment, he swore Remus could see it, too. Telling them through foggy eyes to sod off and take notes in class for him.

Peter’s tied around his middle finger as all four of them huddled, breathlessly, in a secret passage they found. Hiding away from the caretaker after a minor incident involving a suit of armour and a simple movement charm. Panting that they should really have a map of the place, just before Remus’s hand clamped over his mouth, keeping him still at the sound of heavy footfalls passing them by.

But the sting kept tugging, a distraction during class and dinner, and never more than when he argued with the stubborn redhead in his year. Making him wonder, which eventually turned to hoping. Drawing her closer and closer to her until one fateful Christmas party. Fuelled by a healthy dose of mead, he asked Lily Evans to dance.

Her hand lifted to meet his, and for a moment, he could see it. A flash of red was around her pinky finger when she placed her hand in his. Knowing then and there that this was it for him. The person he was meant to fall in love with.

His person.

ABSTRACT

Sirius Black often received oddly-shaped parcels in the mail, usually parts for the motorbike he kept "hidden" behind some Charmed shrubbery on a far corner of the grounds. The package he received on September ninth, 1978, was slim, flat, square, and quite obviously a record. He managed to snatch it from the leg of his raven before the ill-tempered bird purposefully dropped it in his porridge, and held it aloft like a trophy.

"Could do to develop your battle cry a bit further, Padfoot," James said, wincing and working a finger into his ear canal as he attempted to re-orient himself after a piercing whoop loosed in Sirius' excitement.

Sirius ignored him and proceeded to rip through the paper, cooing softly as the cover art was revealed.

"What've you got?" asked Peter, leaning over the table, but Sirius just clutched the album protectively to his chest like one would a small child.

"Only the most anticipated single of the season, Pete, by the most talented group to ever exist," Sirius said, caressing the edges of the album.

Remus didn't even need to look up to identify that one. "The Whizzpricks?" he said, hiding a smile as he braced himself for the inevitable reaction, ducking a sausage automatically.

"The BUZZCOCKS! Honestly, Lupin, how many times do I have to tell you—oi, stop laughing, you monarchist asshole—"

Okay okay I hear ya. I'm an OG, 30+ fan who agrees with you on Jily.

But the question I need to know is Wolfstar - virtually canon or a fan fever dream?

Please base this on your experiences as an OG fan and not in the hellscape that modern Wolfstar has become!

I’ve always liked wolfstar, I think it’s fun, but it’s not my be all end all! Also, a lot of the newer wolfstar seems to have changed the Remus and Sirius characters a ton, which is interesting to me because the characters were a good match without the gradual fanon interpretation in the last five years.

Anyways, based on what canon gives, I have my own opinion on all four marauders below:

James is Straight. He dates girls, loves girls, and marries Lily aka HIS SOULMATE. The man honestly took one look at Lily and said “I’m gonna be an idiot for the rest of my life just for her” and I support that jocks choices with every fiber of my being. That being said, I love reading modern AUs with bi James as long as he’s not with R3gul*s, Sn8pe, or other Slytherins who join the DE. I’d be defending Prongsfoot faster than I’d get with wolfstar tbh

Sirius is Asexual. He don’t give two flying fucks. I have one sentence in the entire series to go off of for this so no one get mad at me if you think I’m delulu for this one okay. I like my delulu land where Sirius is asexual even if everyone else in this fandom wants him with Remus or Marlene McKinnon. let me have more asexual Sirius in more fics!!! fellow asexual Sirius writers help me out with this plz!!!!

Remus is Straight. I mean, he doesn’t stand up to his school buds when they’re being dicks because he likes being included, he falls in love with a manic pixie dream girl despite her being younger than him by several years, he desperately needs therapy due to PTSD but doesn’t go, he turns into a wolf once a month but is honestly probably so hairy even when it’s not the full moon, he has a baby and immediately forgets child support is a thing because he wants to run off to war with his dead best friends kid…I mean… idk. Don’t get me wrong I love Remus Lupin, my stupid son, but he screams straight to me.

Peter is Gay. I definitely think closeted so he dated girls to keep up with the straight persona. I don’t think this is a widespread thing that people agree with; I just have a personal head canon that he is actually in love with James due to the way he’s described by the adults in canon HP and the way he is depicted in the flashbacks in canon HP. Plus it makes his betrayal more fueled by something other than being a big baby coward. And I mean he still is a big baby coward, but I’d like more emotional depth with my betrayal plots.

The next chapter on this one is ALMOST done. Like, half a smut scene. I've been at like half a smut scene left for like a month, though, and I'm not sure why I can't get this one out. We meet James and Regulus next chapter, which is exciting!

Give Me a Sign - Wolfstar - Deaf Remus Soulmates

This one needs more work. The next chapter should include meet the parents (that the Potters and the Lupins), but what I'm most excited for is writing Sirius dancing around his kitchen, singing and signing to some song on the radio to Remus's amusement.

Summer Boys - Wolfstar Childhood Friends to Lovers

Again, this one is just one chapter, but I think I'm going to have to redo basically all of what I have drafted of Chapter 3. Exiciting things coming: Wolfstar double dating Jily at a carnival.

The Moon that Calls Your Name - Jily - Werewolf Lily AU

Coming up in this one is Lily's first full moon, but also some discoveries she makes when she transforms. 😉

Hello everyone! It’s still hard to believe that I’ve hit 6k followers this month! I can’t believe there are so many of you interested in my silly little stories!!

In order to celebrate, I’ve asked you what kind of event you wanted, and you’ve voted for the tropes/AU event! So, here we go! I’m going to use the same prompts as a previous event, as I prepared a pretty thorough prompt list already.

Carole, what is all this new mess now?

The idea is simple: you can make a request for a character I write for (the list of characters is under the cut) by choosing a prompt in the lists that are (also) under the cut. You can add specific details if you have a more precise idea (but please, remember that I do not write nsfw content). In the coming weeks, I’ll write all your requests! I will accept a maximum of 15 requests, or as many requests as I will have received in the next 72 hours, depending on how many requests are submitted! The requests for this event will thus be open between today (August 14 2023) and Thursday (August 17 2023).

How can we request a fic?

You can request a fic by sending me a message through my inbox. I will not accept requests sent through private messages because it is very difficult for me to keep track of them that way. You can, however, request a fic on or off anon. So, if you’re a little shy, don’t hesitate to send me an anonymous ask!

You must choose a character in the list under the cut, for whom I will write a one-shot using the prompt you have chosen (the list is also under the cut). You can write down only the letter/number corresponding to the prompt you’ve chosen instead of copying them in full if it’s easier for you. You can choose an AU or a trope or an AU and a trope. You can also add whether you would prefer some fluff, angst or hurt/comfort.

You can include additional details if you have a specific idea and want to see it included in the fic ; however, I can reject a request if I don’t feel comfortable with the details you’ve added.
