I strongly headcanon Alois and Luka to be a just a little slavic. Just a tiny bit. Not just bc I'm slavic but like. Their names... Alois real name is Jim which was common in English speaking countries at the time yea yea whateves. But Luka? That's one of the most common slavic names from south slavic countries... And from what I gather it wasn't a common name in English speaking regions esp in the Victorian era.

The boys' last name Macken is of Irish origins so my personal headcanon is that they are of slavic/Irish descent. Considering how slavs and the Irish were treated during this time period and how a lot lived in poverty I'd say it's a pretty informed headcanon.

I know the s2 staff likely did not put any thought into naming them but let me have this

Earl Alois Trancy's Character & Personality

Alois is the earl and head of the Trancy household. His real name is Jim Macken. Alois changed his name after being adopted by the former Count Trancy. Since the Countess Trancy committed suicide upon their only son going missing, Alois became the soul heir. In the underworld, the Trancy household is a secret executive agency controlled by the Queen, in which the current head is the Queen's Spider. Thus, it's Alois' duty to destroy all the Queen's distresses in the underworld. The Spider either erases people's pasts or replaces them with false memories to cover up crimes. In spite of his hardships, Alois has an effervescent and cheerful disposition. However, his emotions are quite unpredictable and suspicious. Alois will fluctuate from enthusiastic and hyperactive to angry and cantankerous. He also loses interest in things fairly quickly. Alois often uses harsh and impolite language, like swearing, regardless of whom he's speaking to. Beyond this, he's attached and dependent on his butler, whose attention he's frequently trying to attract. Alois' extreme need for affection and acknowledgment is the result of having no parental figures in his life. Although his harsh temper has always been present, his sadistic streak, bizarre promiscuity and crude language stem from sexual abuse. Alois enjoys the authority of being an aristocratic noble. He utilizes his power in a deliberately vicious, barbarous, sadistic and contemptuous manner. In order to feel dominant, Alois abuses others by making them feel uncomfortable and inferior.
