What are your top 5 favorite episiodes of all american and why?

I'll do in descending order. They will, of course, be Jordayla-skewed. I'm also very partial to 4B. I tried to choose the ones I enjoyed the most overall, not just specific scenes. I could talk on and on about these, but I tried to highlight key things I loved.

#5 - 2x10 - Protect Yo' Neck

This was SO good! Might be my favorite episode of Spelivia's. The cotillion, the dance sequence???? The ending???? Kia!! We also got two very important Jordayla scenes. I was already shipping them, but these scenes kicked it into overdrive. He's just always been looking out for her. And she's never minded and has also been low-key keeping tabs on him. OMG. This episode is fun, funny, gripping, sad, tense, and WTF. Love it!

#4 - 4x18 - I Came Back For You

I really love the messiness of this episode. We got the return of Simone and the end of Jimone. I love everything at Slausson's with the "No Surprise" song going on in the background. I love Layla's apology tour and how she seems so much healthier. All the quiet Jordayla moments?? Like, their flirting was something else this episode. They both had stars in their eyes. And the stuff with Jenn and Liv was so good and sad. And one of my favorite episode enders – the core four playing football. Really, really good episode.

#3 - 4x16 - Labels

If it were just Jordayla, it'd be number one. But the other storylines slightly bring it down for me. The Jordayla stuff is so strong though, that it skyrockets up to top episodes. That fight is my favorite scene of theirs ever. And then they had like, 7 more scenes in this ep??? And then that bleeds into trouble for Jimone in Homecoming, OMG. JoJo is super fun. Dylan is always a treat. Also, I really like Skye.

#2 - 5x04 - Turn Down for What

This episode is a joy!!! Not just Jordayla, which was awesome, awesome, awesome. From the top, they were all over each other. Love all the wedding stuff, all the night before stuff. Love seeing Grace, Laura and Denise together. Love watching the line dancing, the slow dancing. The ceremony??? OMG, Jordayla's hands. All the Spelivia stuff, whew!!! Patience's cover was gorgeous. I love that song. Game night. They packed so much in this ep, and I loved it all. Also, the episode ender is the best one yet.

#1 - 4x20 - Champagne Glasses

OMG, I love this episode. All the angst with Jordayla and Spelivia is so good. Episode kicks off directly from previous which immediately gets me into it. Best moment of Coop's. The entire football game is so fun. Asher's growth as Coach Montez's assistant. The KISS??? A slow-mo, bass drop kiss??? All the cliffhangers. It's such an enjoyable episode to watch.

Jordan and Simone being soft as fuck with their current relationships bc they did that with each other first. HELP! They brought that out of each other. It’s a little fast for some of these lines but… some how it’s fitting bc Jordan was always the girl obsessed boyfriend. Now PLEASE PLEASE! Send both Limone and Jordan / Layla on a damn date in a public setting. If I see that studio one more time.

I truly want to see Layla with an actual storyline. Like I am so serious. A stan got mad that I asked but like what is it??? She’s been doing music since what s2??? She had the depression one / almost dying one but outside of this music, what else is there??? Give her something! Sure there is Jordan but come on now. Girls can be more than a love interest!

I want to see her connect with Liv again and work on rebuilding their friendship. It just feels like they are roommates. Even Layla didn’t believe Liv 😭

I want to see her maybe explore college even if it’s just online or night classes. I want her to go to therapy for her issues with JP’s raggedy ass. We need to see it on screen. It just feels like she had lost herself then found herself again then it just stopped. These are 18 / 19 year old young adults… who was career orientated at that age lmao.

It was great to see Patience do something. However, her story line still sucks and she still has no love interest. why does coop get one?! I do not trust that fan girl. It’s giving Carrie 2.0 and VORTEX FANDOM? Nasty. They need to dead that work immediately, I am so serious. It’d be nice to see Patience bond with Jaymee or something.

She is mostly seen with Layla obviously ( Latience rights granted it will never happen!) but we need to move on from Catience and have P do whatever she wanna do musically bc a tour?? When the album flopped does not make sense. If they want drama for Patience, have Clay snatch her up.

I need all the girls to flourish and have fun on this show ( HC too! Coop too!) bc the men having fun / throwing parties / having story lines etc is very very annoying at this point. I get it’s necessary for Spencer and I am so happy that my baby girl Simone has found a potential sister hood in her line sisters but the beginning scared me bc simone and hazing? NO! SHE HAS BEEN THROUGH ENOUGH!

Back to my babies, Jimone not have been the ideal relationship to some shippers but they had so many soft moments and it was just as cute being that it was a fast burn. She altered his brain and made him grow up no matter how you spin it. I love that for him, we need to see more mature Jordan bc WHEW!

-I don’t like Tenma, I’ve said it before but I just think he’s a bland character who whines too much, the whole “football is sad” shit is just grading.

-Season 2 should’ve had more team line-up changes than it did, I’d rather have characters like Kidou, Gouenji, Domon, Ichinose and Kabeyama get injured and join the Emperors so the team actually feel like underdogs battling superhumans and not just struggling for plot convenience.

-Matsuno should’ve joined Inazuma National instead of Kurimatsu, it’s not another “grrr I hate tod aaahhh” thing but Tod was already in both seasons prior and did nothing, give some other characters spotlight.

-Inazuma National kinda sucks as a team when you realise there’s 6 forwards on one team and because of that they had to bump Sakuma and Fubuki down to the Midfield, if Tachimukai wasn’t there you could fill the whole bench with Forwards lol.

-Saginuma and Yamino just wasted potential honestly.

-There’s too many gimmicks in GO, spirits, miximax, totems AND special tactics.

-I’ve said this before but until I actually started consuming fan content properly I never cared much for Kazemaru, which is funny now considering how much I post about him.

-Genda should’ve been in GO with Sakuma and Kidou, if not him then Jimon or Henmi.

-Did you guys know Nishigaki is the only member of the Dark Emperors to not be in the GO games?

My biggest flex is that I called out Shondaland and cvds shit ever since the beginning when critics said how they riled up S2, didn't use kathony enough, and absolutely ruined Edwina. Some losers tried so hard to say that wasn't the case BUT it was the case and to top of it off- kate and Simone got a bad treatment. It's so funny to see how those are the ones resorting to calling analysts as lame or bad because they make valid point, mostly about how kate was mistreated and unused as a protagonist and how Edwina was such a bore and hypocrite. Need the same to happen to penelope.

Neither did I. And not that I know who exactly these people are who brush off analysts when they make proper points or who just brushed off the critics (especially when ALL the critics had the same complaint), but I think I have some idea because my moots sent me some screenshots of people shaking crying throwing over us complaining about what CVD did to season 2.

And try as you might, simone was not used to her best potential, was not promoted property, Jimone's chemistry was left stranded, Edwina or should I call borewina makes no sense, but go kiss her or rather CVD and Shondaland's ass, Penelope is not the sweet and clever bean y'all make it out to be, she was just a step away from pushing Marina and Eloise to the gallows.

another s2 only watcher here. I watched the Tudum panel and it was basically my intro to the show. My 2 big takeaways were Simone and Jonny’s chemistry is 🔥🔥 and Nicola talked over everyone (the 🤧 insertion was pathetic). Her crying over the show’s diversity on KC, saying she “let” s2 have its moment, the constant clout chasing, etc really turned me off of her. And she shaded RJP huh? Honestly aside from the NC of it all, that's a pretty good intro to the show. I wish I could back to that moment. I was so happy and excited to have Jimone as Kathony who had amszing chemistry. Sweet Chari as the lovely and wholesome Edwina and a wonderfully adapted version of TVWLM that was similar to S1's close adaptation and I was interested to see how the sideplots would connect to the main story and romance while elevating the characters and setting Ben up for his season.

Because let's be real it was founded and is being run by a black woman, the titular Pat, you think she wouldn't jump at the chance to promote the products catered to darker skin people??? So that one I fully blame production and their brand coordinator for deciding a white woman was a better representative for a black owned make up brand over their literal Indian Lead of that season.

Also for this alleged current deal - not trying to excuse it but rather explain why NC got it again - it's finally her season 😒 how can we forget they remind us every fucking second and she's friends with JVN so she has that personal connection. He probably knows her best out of the cast and asked for her. And of course as Production's Sweetheart, the show sent her to do it.

As for the kid gloves thing, it's mostly with her fans. Most people I know who dislike her now like I do after being burnt by her, we're pretty scathing towards her actions. But I will say we are very cautious of how we talk about her because her fans LOVE to scream about how every single person crictising her racially ignorant bullshit is fatphobic. I don't disagree that there is a nasty part of the fandom that is fatphobic towards her but not most of us. Like we literally do not care about her weight, that was never in the question, her personality and behaviour is. All in all I assure you there's no treating her with kid gloves here.

I agree with your thoughts on Layla! I dont think she's unloved on the show, maybe she herself has felt that way, but i dont think that's ever been the reality. Now the viewers, that's a different story. She may not be one of the more liked characters, but she definitely has her niche of fans. I agree with you, i do think the audience just basically saw her as a roadblock to spelivia and was just waiting for her to get out the way. Same with jimone, regardless of the outcome, she became a roadblock for them too, and ended up being the same thing she criticized Liv for in 3x08 (not being loyal, honest, sucking as a friend). So there's hypocrisy involved. But the most common reason, as the seasons have gone on, have just been that the audience is just bored, because her character has been doing the same thing since season 3. Yes there was more to her story like the Carrie of it all etc, but all of that was still attached to her in that music studio. And overall the music storyline is one of the weakest parts of the show, and thats her main purpose every season. So people will naturally associate the character to the aspect of the show that is uninteresting to them. Unless you're a fan of Layla, a lot of the audience are simply just not invested in that entire storyline and everyone involved. I think in the earlier seasons people definitely had an issue with the character, but now, i dont think it's the character, it's just apathy for her overall storyline every season.

This is something I haven’t thought about, and it’s pretty funny. As much as I want her to live her dreams, the music stuff can get so boring at times. I’d love to see her go to school, but that doesn’t seem to be what she wants.

But luckily, they’re more heavy on her interaction with others than the studio stuff. And I really love scenes she has with other characters.
