Journey spoilers under the cut but I wanna talk about the Kukui/Burnet baby and what this means for my current Kukui/Burnet fankids
Baby Lei is so adorable let’s get that fact out of the way first
Tumblr media
Anyway I was totally ready to retcon a sibling into my EternalHoneyMoonShipping family but having a Lei and Leilani right after each other so my now second eldest Burnet/Kukui kid is named Iolana. I thought it was pretty and fit her well. I also decided to change Haukea to Haunani, that was because I wasn’t vibing with the kea in her name anymore idk why. Also Haunani and Mikala can both have cute nicknames “Nani” and “Mika” and I wanted that for the twins. I also am going to change my foster kids name from Amanda to Edith. Both my fan name for Burnet “Yume” and Edith have rich connotations. Also my Japanese name for Amanda before this was Rei which is how Lei was sounding in Japanese.
I also am reusing the Leilani name since it’s an important name for me. I changed the name of my Lana/Kiawe kid from Kalei to Leilani.
Anyway that’s all I’ve actually been writing and need to figure out what platforms I will be using to post my fankid story. Look forward to that.

Right now I'm staying off my Main Blog to avoid Pokemon JN037 Full Summary. Since the small summary was never really revealed, I want to wait until the preview to know if anymore Sun and Moon Characters besides Kiawe will appear.

I’m not saying that we need to draw any parallel between Bonnie attempting to romance women for her brother by asking them to “take care of” him, and the fact that every time Goh meets members of Ash’s family, they ask him to take care of Ash, but...

Gou Was Requested!
My Response:
 Random and/or Obscure Facts
Gou has a long list of ‘main character firsts’, but some of the more significant/unexpected ones are:
·      The first main character other than Satoshi to own three starter Pokémon from the same region.
·      The first to have an episode in the main series entirely focused on him with no Satoshi in sight.
·      The first to travel with Satoshi to and through more than eight regions—those regions being Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova/Isshu, Kalos, Alola, and Galar.
·      The first to catch more Pokémon than Satoshi.
Gou has met more of Satoshi’s close(ish) friends, family, and reoccurring acquaintances than any other character besides Pikachu. This is because Gou has been introduced to:
- All of the Pokémon Satoshi keeps at the Oak Lab
- All of Satoshi’s Alolan Pokémon
- Every main character from the Sun and Moon series besides Lillie and Gladio(n)—plus Lei/Rei, Satoshi’s little brother and their Pokémon.
- Dawn/Hikari from Sinnoh
- Iris from Unova/Isshu
- Gary Oak/Shigeru from Kanto
- The same Mewtwo and Mew from the first Pokémon movie
- Various other significant Pokémon characters that were introduced in other seasons: (ex: Delia, Professor Oak, Mimey, Gym Leader Korrina, Elite Four Wikstrom).
- Many ‘Characters of the Day’ and reoccurring characters such as the Cerise family, Gym Leader Bea, Champion Leon, and Chairman Rose.
Despite all this, Gou has never met Brock, who comes in second for having traveled to and through the most regions with Satoshi and having met the most other characters.
Gou/Go/Gō are all canon ways to spell his Japanese name, but ‘Goh’ is the only English-dub canon spelling.
Gou was introduced as the Pokémon anime’s first true deuteragonist. A deuteragonist is the character second to importance to the protagonist and their role is traditionally to assist the main character in achieving their goal. However, in JN037, when the Alola gang refer to Gou as Satoshi’s rival, Gou asserts that he is not a rival or sidekick, but that he is Satoshi’s equal and close friend who has his own goals, and those goals are not about helping Ash achieve his, because he believes Satoshi can achieve them on his own. So, Gou goes from deuteragonist to the co-protagonist, again being the first in the series’ over two-decade long history.
The manner in which Gou catches Pokémon reflects the way player characters/protagonists do in Pokémon (main) games and (most) canon mangas: he aims to fill his Pokédex, he usually (but not always) needs to battle his opponent first, and he does not shy away from trying to catch legendary Pokémon.
Headcanons
Gou is nonbinary and uses he/him/his as well as they/them/their(s) pronouns.
Goh’s full name is ‘Gō/Gou/Goh Ichinose’ or 一ノ瀬ゴウ based off this guy: https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/G%C5%8D_Ichinose.
Gou is fascinated by TR’s Meowth. He often asks Satoshi questions about it at random occasions, like as they are lying in bed at night or having a meal.
Gou starts letting his hair grow out as a preteen and often wears it in a ponytail or bun.
Gou eventually becomes a professor, but still goes on adventures with Satoshi, in part for the purpose of research. His specialty is similar to Professor Oak’s: studying human and Pokémon relationships, but with a more personal focus.
Gou has a major crush on Satoshi. Satoshi suspects this (eventually) but isn’t sure until the two are (at least) teenagers.
Koharu/Chloe mostly spent time with Gou because (A) Gou was obsessed with her father’s research, (B) She felt sorry for him, and (C) She didn’t have many friends either.
Gou and his family are Ryukyuan Japanese and Hmong.
Gou is adopted. I have a whole fanfic draft in-progress…
Again, not icon, but have a freshly made gif:

JN037 Plot Prediction
Here’s something new I might try: me predicting the plot of an upcoming anipoke episode using what we know from leaks and previews. With that said, here’s how I think JN037 might play:
- Goh’s Exeggcute finds a Leaf Stone and evolves into Exeggutor. Goh adores the new evolution and this causes Ash to tell him about Exeggutor’’s Alolan variant. This perks Goh’s interest and makes him want to go to Alola to catch an Alola Exeggutor himself.
- Ash and Goh fly over to Alola, with Ash brining his full roster and Goh bringing only Raboot and Sobble to save room for any additional captures.
- Upon making it there, Ash and Goh stop by a random beach as Ash reminisces his adventures at Alola. They then split up so Ash can meet up with his old friends while Goh looks for an Alola Exeggutor.
- On Ash’s part of the plot, he reunites with Professor Kukui who takes him back to his lab home. There, Ash is promptly group hugged by his Rowlet, Lycanroc, Incineroar, and Melmetal and then greets Munchlax and Professor Burnet, seeing the latter pregnant or with a baby of her own. Ash congratulates Kukui and Burnet and then introduces his four Alolan mons to his four new additions from Journeys.
- Going back to Goh, he wanders around for a bit, looking for Alola Exeggutor. Along his search, he captures some other mons like Pyukumuku and Pikipek to add to his collection.
- Goh eventually finds an Alolan Exeggutor, but he fails to capture it and somehow winds up falling in the sea or a river, when then leads him to get captured by Lana’s fishing rod.
- Lana takes Goh to the Pokemon School, where all of Ash’s old classmates (minus Lillie) are there, hearing about Ash’s arrival from Kukui. They tell Goh about their many adventures with Ash, as well as the fact that he’s the regional champion, much to Goh’s shock. They also talk about their old friends, Lillie and Gladion, who are still looking for Mohn, but still keep in touch with the gang on a daily basis.
- During the classmates’ time with Goh, he mentions his friendship with Ash and his own goal of catching every Pokemon. Kiawe seems to not like his own ambitions too much and makes it clear with his intense stares towards Goh, which he notices.
- Ash and Pikachu make it to the school, where they happily greet all their old friends with a good ole’ “Alola!”.
- Kiawe then challenges Goh to a battle to prove he’s worthy of being on Ash’s level. Goh, while shocked at first, accepts, facing Kiawe’s Turtonator with his Raboot. Raboot, however, due to Kiawe’s experience, doesn’t last too long and is ultimately taken out by Turtonator’s Inferno Overdrive.
- Despite winning, Kiawe accepts Goh being worthy enough to be on Ash’s side, seeing how determined he was to win despite all odds being agains this favor. The two then declare to battle again someday.
- While everyone says their final goodbyes, Goh finally comes across an Alola Exeggcutor and successfully catches it. He and Ash return home and introduces all his Alolan captures to the lab and the rest of his mons.
- At the end of the episode, Goh, now realizing Ash is a champion and thinking back on his fight against Kiawe, starts considering improving his own battle prowess.

Ok, after watching that JN037 ep, I need an episode of big bro Ash babysits Lei.
Maybe something like Ash is in Alola without Gou, also the Professors are going away and leaving their adopted son taking care of their baby.

Also, just for people who never really studied Japanese. “Tadaima”, which Ash said routinely when he met the Alola gang, is not how you say “I’m back” - it’s how you say “I’m back HOME”
