Thinking about how in a single gameplay Jason (who already has blood on his hands and conscience from an incorrect call) can be faced with the decision to:

let Merwin face the vampires alone

stab Joey

shoot or abandon Clarice

shoot Rachel

lie to Nick about his chance of survival

leave Salim to die

And then thinking about how they find Balathu or Kurum half preserved and suffering and Salim decides they must put him out of his misery. And how when Jason automatically moves to follow through, Salim puts a hand on his gun and says “I’ll do it.”

It’s a choice born of practicality, not kindness. But to Jason, who’s made the call so many times he’s gone numb, it must also be a lifeline.

#it still astounds me that they dumped all that on one character #and i know they’re all under a lot of stress but salim’s the only one that doesn’t really turn on him for making the ‘wrong’ choice #the worst part is #even when you’re not playing as jason you have the option to talk him into or out of the death sentence #but ultimately the call is his to make and he takes full responsibility for it #and in that moment with kurum/balathu salim says ‘you don’t have to be the weapon this time. i’ll do it.’ #i can only imagine what relief that brought jason #sorry y’all i’m back on my bullshit #house of ashes #jason kolchek #nathan merwin #joey gomez #clarice stokes #rachel king #nick kay #salim othman #jalim if you squint #addition bc i’m not redoing all those tags: i forgot he does tell rachel it’s on her if clarice turns

I've been thinking up a "The Quarry" AU for house of ashes where the characters of House of Ashes got to work at Hackett's Quarry to give the kids an insight into military training. The characters will have the same personalities (aka, nobody deliberately brakes the car, teen drama is toned down, they all have more skill with weaponry, etc)

Ryan = Jason Kolcheck.

Dylan = Salim Othman (obviously).

Kaitlyn = Clarice Stokes.

Jacob = Eric King

Emma = Rachel King.

Nicolas = Nick Kay (again, for obvious reasons).

Abigail = Joey Gomez (not to ship with anyone, but who knows, I sure as hell don't).

Laura = Nathan Merwin.

These are just rough guidelines for their encounters with the werewolves. Jason, with his killing curiosity to touch things he shouldn't (the fossilised alien) he'd be more likely to investigate Chris' room than Salim, but the bisexual jokes about him, Salim, and Clarice are too good to pass up on.

I'm thinking that this takes place in the same universe as house of ashes just to be like "WEREWOLVES??? THE FUCK??? FIRST VAMPIRES, NOW WEREWOLVES. WHATS NEXT, ZOMBIES???"

"Jason, if you jinx this, I swear to Allah above I will end you."

She holds him by the neck with her wide tongue choking him. But before she can kill him, Salim appears, dropping a load on her head, which ends up throwing Jason to the other side of the map.

Rachel - Are you turning against me after I helped you? Now I will teach you to have good manners!!

Salim - Well... can we solve it in other way?

And with one blow she hits Salim's leg, hurting him,Who stumbles and ends up falling.

On the other side, Jason is thrown towards the greenhouse, hitting the floor, causing it to crack. Joey who had also been thrown there was waking up from his faint.

He slowly gets up for a second to observe his injury and continues walking on the opposite side...He finally arrives at the cafeteria...

Nick - Wait, if you're all fucked up then you're not supposed to be the impostor, right? You wouldn't be able to hurt yourself just to play innocent if that's the case then who is the (Real) impostor?

Salim - Oh...Rachel! She killed everyone, she was the one who attacked me! And she attacked Jason and Joey! And she killed the rest of us!, She's the impostor!

Nick - Was I wrong all along then?... I'm sorry then for accusing you...

Salim - Okay, this game is about accusation and execution! We can still save the game!

Nick - You are sure!

before anything happens Rachel appears impaling salim in the belly. Blood starts to flow and he falls on top of Nick, already dead.

Rachel - And I WON!

Rachel - It wasn't supposed to end, I already killed everyone... Do I have to kill you too??

the cafeteria windows break with a bang and a knife is thrown at demon Rachel who throws herself back.

Jason - When you threw us, Joey's leg got caught in a rope. And since I'm not stupid or anything, we used that to get back here!

RACHEL - HOW DARE YOU CHALLENGE ME??? I WILL DESTROY YOU!!

Rachel gets up and jumps close to them, Jason manages to dodge and runs close to the table, Joey jumps into the room with a grenade in his hands...

Jason - Why did you take so long?

Joey - Hey, it takes a while to get up, okay?? my God..

Nick - Guys, she's still here!!

Joey - Relax, I have it here!Take This!

RACHEL - A GRENADE?? Unbelievable...

Jason - It's because we're in an emergency meeting It's impossible for us to die... brilliant!
