Today it’s the Constitution day in Norway, which made me look closer at Norwegians putting their stamp on POTO in different ways
Johanne Brochmann, Stockholm: OK, so she is Swedish, or half Norwegian if you will, with her father being Norwegian. She was possibly the first ALW!Christine of Norwegian descendant, which makes her a perfect candidate for this photoset.
Solveig Kringleboth, Oslo: Apart from being a kick-ass principal Carlotta in the non-replica Oslo production, on the former opera stage where she had previously sung many lead roles, she was also once Christine in the Norwegian Ken Hill production.
Charlotte Brænna, Oslo: Principal Meg Giry AND u/s Christine in Oslo, and also the one who had the honour of doing the very last Christine performance in Oslo.
Sindre Postholm, Stockholm: Replaced the originally-cast principal André in the Stockholm revival without a word. Owned the role. And also featuring the most dreamy blue eyes an André ever had.
Maria Bjørnson: OK, so another of mixed nationalities. Norwegian (and estranged) father, Romanian mother, born in Paris, lived in London for most of her life. She expressed that she felt like neither nationalities. Still, as a great granddaughter of the man behind the Norwegian national anthem, Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson, she must be included in this list.
Tuva Semmingsen, Copenhagen: She was a shared principal Madame Giry in the Copenhagen revival, but I never got to catch her in the role. Few photos also emerged. Principal, yet not it felt like. Anyhow...
Astrid Giske, Oslo: The super trouper u/s Christine who became a secret principal one week into the production, and was officially announced so a month later. Outstanding Christine, voice, dancing, acting, understanding the role. Yes.
Arvid Larsen, Oslo: The only principal Norwegian going from the Oslo production and to Greece to repeat the role. Which is curious and cool. But he was fab as Monsieur André.
Stephen Brandt Hansen, Tartu/Tallin: The (so far) only Norwegian principal Phantom abroad, premiering the Estonian production and also singing in Estonian. Hats off.
Espen Grjotheim, Oslo: The (so far) only principal Phantom in Norway in a legitime production, and with some impressive vocals. If also counting illegitime, we could add Øystein Wiik in the Ås production. But we won’t this time around...

I was tagged to do this by @julian-dahl, @leoniejulie and @jly-u (all with slightly different questions, but it’s the same tag, so I combined it all), thank you so much!
Rules: TAG 9 people you want to know better.
Relationship Status: You know when you book a train ticket in the UK and it says “Advance Single”? That’s me.
Favourite Colour: Yellow. I own way too many yellow clothes and it doesn’t even suit me, but guess who doesn’t care.
Top 3 ships: This is a terrible question. I can’t not say Davenzi. Also Simon and Baz from Carry On. And thirdly, even though it probably doesn’t really count, Rebecca Bunch/happiness (I’m emotional about Crazy Ex-Girlfriend ending, okay? Also this is canon now and it’s the only thing from that show that really needed to be canon.)
Lipstick or Chapstick: I always use chapstick and I never wear lipstick, but somehow, I still prefer lipstick.
Last Song: “Being Alive” from Company.
Last Movie: Mulan. (For the first time ever. Sue me.)
Current book: Bold of you to assume it would be one. Seriously, I’m reading about 12 books currently. But the ones I’m actively reading are Incidents Involving Warmth by Anna Livia (a great second hand bookstore find), Viva la Vagina! by Nina Brochmann and Ellen Støkken Dahl (this book brings me so much joy and I’ve also learned a lot from it, so what’s not to love?) and Historia von D. Johann Fausten (I’m not reading this one for fun, believe me).
I’m tagging @catofthebarricades, @anotherobsessedfangirl, @floraflorenzi, @thealpacalypse, @procrastinatingbisexual, @yoiaintshitbutimqueen, @miawiinter, @druckskam and @itistimeforusalltodecidewhoweare.

Christine wardrobe in the original Stockholm production
Being one of the first Phantom productions in the world, in 1989, it didn’t only include things like a full orchestra. There were also some leeway in terms of costumes. For example, they did red Elissa skirts, huge-ass tiaras, mint Serafimo skirts, and blue Rooftop dresses. But the overall style is very similar to the contemporary costumes in West End, Vienna and Tokyo, especially in the silhouettes and decorations. Many of these costumes, albeit pimped, was later used in Copenhagen - the red skirt and blue Rooftop dresses as late as 2019, which means they were 30 years old at the time. That’s true stayers!
The four principal Christines were: Elisabeth Berg, Tua Åberg, Inger Olsson Moberg and Johanne Brochmann

Note
Although I feel like you've seen every Phantom, Christine, and Raoul, can I just ask if there are actors and actresses you haven't seen a bootleg of but want to?
Oh, so many, there are lots of cast members who weren't recorded, or fully recorded, and who I would love to see or hear. A short list (and I do mean this is short, because I basically eliminated anybody who had a full bootleg of them, whether audio or video, solely for the sake of my sanity):
Phantoms: Andre Schwartz, Juan Pablo Skrt, Nicholas Nkuna, Kalle Sepp, Hugo Laporte, Nikolai Dogramadzhiev, Vladimir Grudkov, Momchil Stepanov, Joel Zerpe, Daniel Koek
Christines: Maria Kesselman, Raissa Katona, Tua Aberg, Johanne Brochmann, Lori Broderick, Gay Willis, June Crowley, Tamra Haydn, Amy Jo Arrington, Beverley Worboys, Annalene Beechey, Susanne Elmark, Agnete Munk Rasmussen, Lana English, Amy Hudson Holder, Mona Botha, Magdalene Minnaar, Mercedesz Csampai, Tereza Marshall, Mirjana Matić, Anne-Marine Suire, Micaela Sjöstedt, Hanna Ulvan, Mira Ormala, Charlotte Brænna, Vesela Delcheva, Raquel Paulin, Cassandra Lemoine, Sara Ollinen
Raouls: Brennan Holder, Tobias Ahlsell, Jonathan Böiers
And probably many, many more.

Tiaras in use in Stockholm (left) and Copenhagen (right)
Though the tiaras might not be 100% identical in each row - either because they had several variations over one style, or because tiaras has been altered - it at least shows the stamina of this style. It was made for the original Stockholm production in 1989, and was last seen in Copenhagen in 2019. That’s some 30 years of use! The biggest difference that’s happened to them is that most earpieces and “dangling” pieces has been removed. Sometimes the pieces has been mounted higher up, sometimes they’ve been removed alltogether, maybe used as spare pieces. But the style itself is recognizable, with the “spiky”, colourful look and the distinct forehead plate.
Row 1: Inger Olsson Moberg and Mia Karlsson
Row 2: Unidentified and Victoria Paine
Row 3: Unidentified and Isabel Schwartzbach
Row 4: Martina Langas and Nahia Gil
Row 5: Johanne Brochmann and Louise Fribo

Note
Do you have any pictures of Carlotta’s Hannibal tiara from Vienna? They were beautiful! I saw a documentary about phantom Vienna years ago in which Pritti Coles was interviewed in her Elissa costume. The tiara was amazing - it had little dangly bits on it that tinkled as she moved.
The early European tiaras (West End, Stockholm, Vienna) were quite amazing. Spiky, detailed, grand, glittering, with a forehead piece and dangling details. There is so myc going on, they are so ornate. Alas I don’t have any GOOD photos of the Viennese version of Carlotta’s Elissa tiaras:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Buuuuuuuuut the Stockholm tiaras were in the same vein, and they were later inherited by the Copenhagen production. And lo and behold! Louise Fribo wears a very similar one in the current Copenhagen run:
Tumblr media
What she wears is probably one originally donned by Johanne Brochmann, Christine in Stockholm. Here’s a closeup of her and Inger Olsson Moberg:
Tumblr media
I hope this total at least gives you an impression of what’s oing on. And I’m thrilled you like these tiaras! They are pretty much my holy grail.
