I.AM.TALKING.ABOUT.EVERY.SINGLE.FACE
(As we know this is from the scene where branch tells them grandma died and he raised himself)
So bruce..I don't need to talk about Bruce
Jd, that's guilt...
Obviously they're all guilty and I would read 1000 fics of them being guilty (WHERE ARE THE VAN RIDE FICSCJDNSBS)
But he is the one who left first (despite clay leaving the band first)
He was the first domino to fall that led to such a ruined man
It also looks..pitiful? It's probably not all pity but it could be
If it was a smoothie it would be guilt, pity, regret, concern...worry maybe?
CLAY LET ME TALK ABOUT CLAY
...again
It's guilt...obviously
But I think it's different guilt..
I think (it's canon to me) because he could've gone but didnt...
It's a man who had every chance to just do something more than nothing and because he did nothing it had horrible consequences (branch's years of self blame for his grandma's death and the years alone because of it)
If he had just gone to see branch when he was like...6...the impact it could have had on a CHILD that is all alone and saw his grandmother die.
And he knows it...
BUT THATS NOT ALL THATS THE BEGAINKMG
It worry...or shock..or a mix of both
Because like
Branch hasn't done anything up until that point to raise eyebrows
He quite frankly hasn't done anything other than sing, be upset, and make clue board
Like yes he showed displeasure seeing jd
And told jd how he felt about seeing him
But jd brushed it off
And he ONLY told jd about how he felt, clay and Bruce have no idea branch is mad at them for leaving.
THE BROTHER THEY DIDNT KNOW WAS HOLDING IN ALOT OF RESENTMENT FOR ALL OF THEM
To them he snapped out of nowhere...
He showed that their attempts to change did change them , but changed branch the most,,,in ways that none of them expected

i just think that the first saw apprentices are victims, like, lawrence and amanda endured so much, following the rules and literally finding purpose and a will to live. lawrence cut off his own foot, amanda killing a man. they suffered and passed their games. they learned how to make people suffer and atone because that is what they had to endure. they are as much jigsaw's apprentices as much as they are victims. mark hoffman is iconic. he just decided to saw trap his sisters killer because he deserved it. his victim wasnt meant to survive because he never suffered the same pain as a victim. he missed the point, and when he was allowed to apprentice, he thought he would go untested. even john kramer suffered before he made his first trap. jill suffered the loss of gideon and the death of john himself. mark never did. mark thought he would never suffer.
but thats a part of being an apprentice. you have to suffer. you have to be tested.
