We see Gideon speedrunning discovering who both her parents were and watching them both die (again), before the horror of watching her dad reassemble himself.

John is particularly horrifying in this scene, and plenty of people have discussed how appalled and violated he must have felt to learn about what his friends did, and that his sperm was used to impregnate the woman who represented everything he wanted to destroy.

It's hard to feel entirely sorry for him as he Dr Manhattens himself back together and brutally murders Mercymorn, but I can't help but wonder about how it felt to discover he had a child. And then to discover that child, dead, staring at him from Harrow's body with Alecto's eyes.

Did he ever think about the fact that his daughter died because of his regime? As he made her an impenetrable construct for his own protection, did he ever think about that awful irony?
