Discharge Petition for H.R. 7152, the Civil Rights Act of 1964
Record Group 233: Records of the U.S. House of RepresentativesSeries: General Records
This item, H.R. 7152, the Civil Rights Act of 1964, faced strong opposition in the House Rules Committee. Howard Smith, Chairman of the committee, refused to schedule hearings for the bill. Emanuel Celler, Chairman of the Judiciary Committee, attempted to use this discharge petition to move the bill out of committee without holding hearings. The petition failed to gain the required majority of Congress (218 signatures), but forced Chairman Smith to schedule hearings.

For All Of Us That Love Sinn: I just discovered earlier today that Tanner will be in a Christmas movie for Hallmark. Even though the promo isn't out yet, I know he will be amazing in it like he is as Dr. John Matthew "Finn" Finnegan every day on Bold. The title of his Christmas movie is called Christmas Class Reunion and the synopsis of his movie is this: High school classmates, who once dubbed themselves the "cursed class", reconnect at Christmas for their 15-year reunion. Over the course of their time reconnecting, the classmates challenge each other to remember who they were, who they are, and who they want to be. The movie premieres on Saturday December 10th at 8:00/7:00. With my prior experience of Hallmark Christmas movies, the promo will probably either come out in late November. We can also expect to see it again on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. It will be time for all of us to mark our calendars so we can see Tanner on TV just like I know we would do the same if it was Jacqueline as they are perfection no matter what. #BoldandBeautiful #Sinn https://www.instagram.com/p/Ci0zAwDPzKc/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

🥋 What an amazing day. 😀 Everson's Karate students, parents and John Finnegan of Robbinsville Clean Team spent the morning going around Robbinsville picking up trash. 👍 Look at that big pile of trash. 👀 I am so proud of the parents and students of EKI. 👏 This is what the Martial Arts is all about. 👍 I'm a blessed man to be apart of such great community. Thank you John for putting this together. 😀 After a day of cleaning up Robbinsville we all sat down and enjoyed each others company with a slice of pizza. We had a total of 90 Students, Parents and Friends. Feeling Blessed, Master Dusty Everson Mrs. Diane Everson https://www.instagram.com/p/ChyG2AErFHF/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

May 23, 1962 - The New York Civil Liberties Union today asked New York Police Commissioner Michael J. Murphy to institute disciplinary proceedings against Captain Albert Seedman (left) and Assistant Chief Inspector Raymond V. Martin for “excessive and improper use of force” against Anthony Portelli and Anthony Dellernia (right). Portelli and Dellernia have been charged with the slaying last Friday of Detectives Luke Fallon, 56, and John P. Finnegan, 28, of the Parkville Precinct in Brooklyn. The double murder occurred during a hold-up in the Boro Park Tobacco Company in Brooklyn. The Civil Liberties Union said that Captain Seedman and Inspector Martin had used excessive force in making “the suspects pose for photographs in pictures later used in television newscasts and in newspapers.” No one was available at Police Headquarters to comment on the complaint. It was the first time a pair of NYPD officers had been killed on duty in 30 years.
