(Doing this because John Preston needs some love)

Warnings: FLUFF

It was late that night John had just gotten back from the nether lands (outer border) you were already in bed waiting patiently for him, and you heard the sound of the bedroom door opening, you pretended to be asleep that’s when you felt an arm wrap around your body, John’s nose in the crook of your neck, and he breathed in your shampoo, closing his eyes at the sweet smell and pressed his lips against your neck, he knew what he was doing since you reacted, he chuckled deeply, planting kisses up to your jaw, “John-”

Before you could speak a full sentence he sat up and you laid on your back looking up at him, his hand ran through your hair, and he looked down at you, “Hello love.” John laid down next to you, his fingertips smoothly gliding against your skin, you looked over at him and smiled softly, “Hi honey.”

The both of you lay there smiling at each other the blanket draped over the both of you wrapped up in each other’s arms and just enjoying the simple yet comfortable embrace, “You're so beautiful, sweetheart.” John spoke quietly he looked at you with sweet brown puppy eyes, and you gave him a small kiss on the lips, watching as he drifted off slowly, you began to fall asleep as well but it was real this time, the both of you just slept there peacefully in each other's embrace.

In the middle of the night, John woke up from a nightmare, sitting up quickly sweat covering his body, and his chest heaving as he breathed in, his hair was disheveled, he looked over at your peaceful sleeping form, not wanting to wake you up he got up, heading to the bathroom to splash cold water on his face, he didn't hear you walk in, he felt your arm wrap around his torso and your head leaning on his back with a light grumble, “Hey… What’re you doing awake? You should go back to bed.” John spoke quietly as he chuckled at the sight of you all sleepy and messy-looking, “Noo… Come back to bed…”

“I’ll be there in a second, go on honey.” John laughed a little bit as you clung to him like a baby Koala, he always thought it was cute how you’d refuse and cling to him, “Noo… Come with me..” There was that little resistible pout and he sighed softly before hoisting you up with his arms, making sure you were nice and secure and he carried you off to bed, setting you down first and then laying down next to you, looking at you, “You're cute you know that?” John smiled softly and then he snuggled up close to you, “I love you.” He spoke quietly kissing your forehead and watching as you closed your eyes drifting back off to sleep.

“Sweet dreams.”
