after seeing that one post about people not working out because its fucking boring and how it would be so much easier to get people to exercise if it was more like play ive been thinking about how an adult play center would look like

i think it would be in a warehouse kind of structure and try to mimic an outdoor environment with playground tools

primary games that can be played:

floor is lava/wipeout

tag/condensed tag*

capture the flag and other team games like it

floor is lava and wipeout would be a theme throughout the thing where there should be paths to climb around monkey mode to avoid the lava, but also there being a dedicated wipeout/parkour warrior on dry land area

capture the flag would add one tall and one short “objective” where the tall one is the more important because they would be on the high ground and being up high and seeing the entire field is fun on its own but also has tactical purposes and fun is the name of the game. capture the flag could also add “sand” pits where the floor changes from that weird foam rubber that playgrounds have to instead be foam pads or something so you just sink in ever so slightly more than normal and have to think around the pit

tag would thrive in this environment already with the floor is lava structures and the capture the flag environment but adding clear and hidden movement paths through everything is also an obvious step to elevate the play

something I’m also thinking about is like having certain areas that have more traditionally working out things as shortcuts like rock climbing up to the lookout point or monkey bars or hoops to get from one lava spot to the next

the space would be generally open but have Some walls for the sake of sight lines and I think it would be better for climate control there would be “pause” buttons in all major areas in case of emergencies or the like seeker having to leave suddenly

it’s also important to me specifically that there are rest spots in the play area like those nets all the kids used to climb up into and just sit and chat shit in at school break

thered probably be a like cafeteria and small baby normal gym in the same location that has like treadmills and smaller elements from the play area to practice like the rock climbing or hoops so people can practice at the same time as others are playing or work their way up from not wanting to play cuz playing is for kids to wait hold on my friends who did play have worked out so much more than me

for theming its important that it gets taken seriously so it cant be playground bright colors theme but there needs to be Some justification for all the structures

post apocalyptic, all the buildings are buildings, structures are rubble or plants because its overgrown easy peasy

"oh but what about strength training" you cry, miserably, and onto you i say "payload missions" you tell the main desk and they give you a like sack of Weight TM and that will now be your payload that you have to escort from whatever you decide point A and B are, or alternatively they can be used as the flags in capture the flag so you gotta haul these heavy ass things back to base
