To get my one complaint out of the way:

The Young Avengers were not formed because "Hey there are multiple superheroes under the age of thirty"

They were formed because the Avengers were literally destroyed, and New York needed heroes

It was not this after school club

It was "there's so much villainy going on in this city, and Kang the fucking Conqueror is coming in three days. we are the only people with some link to the Avengers therefore we must stop this"

Eli became Patriot to honour his grandfather and fight crime

Teddy became Hulkling to protect people and figure out his identity

Billy became Asgardian/Wiccan to stand up for the little guy and to honour the Scarlet Witch

Kate became Hawkeye to beat up bad people and save the people with powers

Cassie became Stature to honour her father and carry on his legacy

Nathaniel became Iron Lad as an attempt to stop his evil future from coming to pass

Vision became a Young Avengers to honour Nathaniel and the original Vision

Tommy became Speed to right his wrongs

It was never "you're under thirty, I'm under thirty, wanna team up?"

I do want Jonas back but I feel like the mechanics of bringing vin back would be more complicated—vision tried to bring back viv and it went awry, if vin came back there would be no real reason not to bring Virginia back and I can’t see that happening.

If they do ever bring vin back I kind of feel like he should be more or less a civilian (he didn’t strike me as the superhero type). I think he should be viv’s younger brother now (I imagine Viv was designed to age and I really want them to address twins becoming different ages by virtue of one being dead for a substantial amount of time since it happens so often)

I do desperately want to see Viv’s interactions with jonas and her living brothers (Billy and Tommy were officially classed as such in her pride data page which is great but can we see that?) maybe a reconciliation with Victor

Yeah, I mean, Vin and Virginia's deaths have more narrative importance. They were probably always intended to die, and their continued absence is necessary to maintain a certain status quo with those characters who survived them-- especially Virginia's. Compare that to Cassie and Jonas dying at the end of CC-- the emotional fallout got solved pretty quickly, and Cassie was back in less than two years. Jonas's continued absence doesn't actually serve any purpose, and it's been a decade. I figure, next time there's any kind of Young Avengers story, there's not reason not to bring him back.

I'm not trying to litigate the choices that Tom King made with Vision, because that would be a much longer conversation, but I understand why, in the context of that book, it was necessary for some characters to die. That said... Victor is already back, and neither Viv nor her father are in the same dire positions that King left them in, so I think you could get away with, you know, easing up on the tragedy a little. I don't know, in general I do think that more deaths should be permanent, and stories need to have longer lasting consequences, but Vision was just really grim and punishing, and I just really want Viv to be happy.

It's a little unclear, but Cassie and Kristoff Vernhard may or may not have recovered Jonas's AI from Iron Lad at the end of Oliveira's run on Voices Infinity. Theoretically, he is back, he just needs a new body-- he's saved in that little gauntlet Kristoff is wearing ^

Once someone replied to me saying Nate killed Jonas with "oh but he brought Jonas back in the infinity comic!" and I'm sorry but NO!!!!! NO HE DIDN'T!! Jonas is a whole person, a separate entity from both Vision and Nate (who according to canon designations are his brothers), he can't just simply be reduced to Nate's shitty Siri, and if you think so you simply haven't read enough Ultron-fam or Marvel A.I. comics. Jonas deserves respect, to be brought back PROPERLY, and to get the fuck away from the young avengers forever, to find people who actually care about them, and also deserves a chance to reinvent himself as his own person (*coughs* Jocasta), not a copy of his brothers (like he was trying to do in his YA Presents, but Marvel lost the plot and then he died)

Bottom line Marvel please get a queer black writer and make an ongoing A.I. team book where characters like Jonas finally get to be explored properly
