both men love their work but it still stresses the hell out of them. they’d enter and leave work exhausted. but then you started working at alchemax. you - with your bright smile and glittering eyes. most of the scientists and associates were drawn to you, but miguel and johnathon were on a whole nother level.

johnathon definitely fell first. it was daunting when someone he found attractive was being so sweet to him. jonathon’s usually too stuck in his own little world to care about such frivolities, so you were something special.

★ he’s been late so many times because he’d chat with you for too long at your desk. at first he stumbled on his words with you, struggling to maintain eye contact while simultaneously trying not to stare too hard. now you’re one of the few people he feels comforting rambling to, because he knows you’re listening ★ johnathon loves it when you’d call him “doctor,” despite him insisting on his first name. sensing that air of respect from you makes him feel good about himself. ★ he takes great pride in making you laugh and smile with every chance he gets. this physicist has a vast arsenal of cheesy jokes, bad puns, and cute pick-up lines. ★ he visits you throughout the day whenever he can, and tries to muster up the courage to have lunch with you. you’re young and gorgeous and out of his league but he’d be damned if he didn’t try. and then miguel o'hara came back from his business trip.

miguel didn’t care for the last receptionist. she was rude and lazy and got his name wrong. so it was a pleasant surprise when he was greeted by you instead.

★ at first, your peppiness was too much for him, especially in the morning. he’d brush off your attempts at conversation and only mumble back to you when needed. such is the way of the resident grump at alchemax. but eventually, you wormed your way into his heart by remembering how he likes his coffee and staying up to help him on late nights in the lab. ★ miguel had to admit, you were a joy to have around. …and very very nice to look at. miguel's had a few serious relationships in the past, but they never ended well. since then he’s only indulged in one-night stands and temporary hook-ups. but he refused to look at you so fleetingly. ★ miguel started bringing you expensive bouquets of flowers for your desk, along with sweet little notes. he’s obsessed with the scent of your vanilla perfume. he wants to be your hero, there to open every door, pull out every chair, and drive away any creep. for him, creeps include johnathon.

johnathon wasn’t concerned when he’d see other scientists and workers flirt with you. he wholeheartedly believed you two had a special connection that couldn’t be replicated. but seeing miguel turn you into a blushing stuttering mess proved him wrong. there was competition closer than he thought, and if he didn’t act quickly, he’d lose you for good.

★ johnathon felt deeply insecure in comparison to miguel. dr. o’hara’s movie star face & dreamy hair made him feel like crap. ★ miguel clearly had way more experience in dating, always flirting with you so smoothly. johnathon on the other hand, is pretty sure he’s stuck in the friendzone with you. so he decided to experiment with bolder methods of winning your heart. ★ jonathon’s been more direct, showering you with compliments and buying you lunch whenever he could. he made it abundantly clear that he was single and that he liked you very much. you were his favorite person at alchemax, and for good reason.

miguel honestly thinks johnathon’s annoying as fuck. once john accidentally spilled hot coffee onto miguel on a very bad day, and he’s been bitter ever since. in the past johnathon would be friendly, but miguel would brush him off. who the hell is this lanky ass nerd and why is he hovering over him in HIS lab?

★ now he’s wondering why the geek is messing with his love now. it pisses him off, not just because johnathon knows he feels the same about you, but how john makes you happier than he’s ever seen you be. miguel’s flirty, and funny in his own, stubborn way, but he lacked johnathon’s endearing dorky nature that had you hooked. ★ miguel is soooo grumpy lmao ★ really johnny is such a silly sweet guy while miguel, mr. give everything 1000% over here is fighting for his life. it took miguel a whole ass week to come up with a joke as good as johnathon’s that made you laugh your ass off. my guy is trying waaay too hard.

at first, miguel confronts johnathon kindly. he’s sympathetic and straight to the point - they both hold the same intentions towards you, but only one of them can win. he can tell that johnathon’s a good guy, with a big heart, so he’d understand… right?

although it’s not like johnathon isn’t cunty either. when he makes you laugh sometimes it’s because he’s making fun of miguel behind his back. he has a killer miguel impression that puts the original to shame.

Flufftober Day 22: Haunted House

Modern AU: Eddie Munson x f!reader

AN: This was inspired by a real-life experience I had at one of those scare experience places that are like hainted houses on steroids. I wish I had had an Eddie Munson to protect me, but alas I had to do it myself. Feedback and Reblgs are much appreciated. See y'all tomorrow!

“You guys are fucking sick, you know that?” You spat out at Robin and Steve who were over on the sidewalk laughing their assess off.

This was their idea, doing the Scare Factor Experience ™ and you were totally not afraid to admit that when it came to shit like this you were a wimp. You had told them so right after they suggested the Saturday night outing and yet, here you were. Waiting on the sidewalk outside this warehouse-looking place with a bunch of other young adults in various states of intoxication. It was halfway to freezing out here and you were in a simple jeans and sweater-combo. Which would have been sufficient for hanging out at Steves as the plans had originally been.

Robin had seen the ad on her phone while scrolling on the couch and immediately started convincing the group that it would be “So fun” and “a great idea”. Bullshit. You didn’t consider being scared by weird people in makeup was a great way to spend your night.

But you’d been outvoted and unceremoniously shoved into the back of Steve’s car so you apparently didn’t really have a choice.

When you’d arrived and seen how long the line was you’d tried to convince the others that it would be too long and you should just go home, which only caused another round of booing at you and some minor bullying that you wouldn’t put up with form anyone except your friends.

It was obvious you were on edge, which to the dumbass duo over there meant that you were free game apparently. They’d been trying to jumpscare you in line every ten minutes for the past hour and had successfully gotten you a few times.

“C’mon guys, leave the scaring to the professionals.” Eddie had told them, wrapping his arm around your back and pulling you into his side.

“I thought you liked scary things?”

“I do, but you don’t. I don’t want to force you to do this but I also don’t want to leave you out here where I can’t keep an eye on you.”

“Aww Eds. I’ll be okay I promise. I’m just a little scardey cat sometimes.”

“You shouldn’t have to be okay about it. Tweedle dee and tweedle dum over there should’ve taken no for an answer and planned to go another time.

“Thank you for sticking up for me Eddie, but seriously It’s not that big of a deal.”

A few more minutes went by, during which your little group shuffled closer and closer to the doors. At one point, Nancy and Jon joined your group. You don’t know who had texted them but they were here now. You loved hanging out with them but weren’t too excited at the prospect that more people were going to see you freak out in a few more minutes.

Eventually, your group made it to the doors and listened to the guy at the entrance explain the rules. No pictures, no running, and definitely no putting your hands on the scare actors. Apparently, some people punched when they were scared.

You and Eddie were smack dab in the middle of your group. Robin and Steve had locked arms and were raring to go at the front. You and Eddie were right behind them, Eddie still having his hand on your back, attempting to rub soothing circles into your skin. Nancy and Jonathon were behind you too, whispering back and forth between the two of them and giggling. You had no idea what could possibly be funny right now.

The guy who had told you the rules pulled back a thick black curtain and told you all to go ahead into the starting room.

Stepping past the curtain submerged your group into a sea of darkness. There was no light except for the faint glow of the fire exit sign right behind you.

Steve and Robin marched confidently towards the other set of doors in the room, past that was the haunted house, which didn’t have any exits you could take once you went through it.

Together they pushed the doors open and a dark red light could be seen on the other side but not much. You were trembling in your boots at this point. You could feel your tears begin to water and your breath begin to pick up and Eddie did too.

“I got you, Princess.” He whispered into your ear, and you calmed down even if it was just lightly. Slowly and with a small push from Eddie your feet began to work again and you started shuffling forward and into the first room.

This room wasn’t really a room, more like a hallway. The walls were made of some kind of metal sheeting and above your heads were red pulsating lightblubs. The hallway wasn’t very wide, meant for only one person to go through at a time. Eddie grabbed your hand and took the lead. Slowly pulling you behind him but turning his head back a couple of times to check on you. Behind you, Nancy was looking around, without the need to hold her boyfriend’s hand and you were suddenly distracted by the feeling of fear, as it was quickly replaced by embarrassment.

However, the feeling faded just as quickly as it had come when you entered another room. One modeled after a kind of run-down hospital. There was a woman behind a counter, dressed in a blood-covered nurse's outfit. In her hands was the largest needle you had ever seen, her head was tipped back and she was laughing like a maniac.

You were absolutely terrified. It was all too much, the low lights, the creepy soundtrack in the background. The fog that was being pumped into the building made it hard to breathe and you could tell you were beginning to panic. That was until you heard, “Do you take walk-ins? I don’t think I have an appointment,” come out of your boyfriend’s mouth. You couldn’t help but smile. If Eddie had a superpower it would be his humor, it was one of the many reasons you loved him.

Room after room, Eddie would make you laugh and feel better by cracking some jokes. A room that looked like a butcher, complete with fake hanging pigs? “I’m a vegetarian, do you have like a salad or something?” A dentist’s office “Will I get a sticker when I’m done?” And so on and so on. Every time an actor would jump out at you he would say “Hello!” in a cheery voice. Once or twice you heard him say “Happy birthday”.

By the last room, you were laughing more than you were screaming and your heart was warm with the love you held for your goofball. He held your hand the entire time and made you forget all about the terror that was supposed to be flowing through your veins.

The last set of doors opened up and immediately you could breathe better, the fake fog not following you into the outside air.

“That was awesome!” Robin yelled, turning to look back at the rest of you.

“It was fun, I could’ve gone without Munson’s commentary though.” Steve ribs, sending a wink your way to let you know he was just joking around.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about Harrington, I’m hilarious,” Eddie replies.

“You really are.” You pipe up, placing a kiss on your boyfriend’s cheek and sticking your tongue out at Steve one more time.

in my mind steve isn't all that physically demonstrative in public beyond bro/jock-ish stuff like slaps on the back or bonking shoulders together or maybe if he gets really excited those chest bumps and friendly jostling - except his friends, robin and argyle and eddie especially, are more likely to completely ignore personal space and give hugs and just be physically comfortable with people they like and trust, and there are all these kids he's happy to give hair-ruffles and half-hugs even though half of them are taller than him these days and the other half are very willing to punch him in the ribs for his troubles. so most of the time, he's happy to get an argyle hug when he and jonathan come back into town and let robin grab him and shake him when she's excited and just hang out, but sometimes somebody is dawdling while steve is trying to get people from point a to point b and he starts just. picking them up. he puts robin down pretty quickly because she has Opinions on being thrown over his shoulder like a sack of rice but after the first few times eddie just makes himself comfortable and continues his conversation while steve does the walking.

HELP THIS IS PERFECT!!!

Before they are properly together Eddie actually goes slow on purpose knowing that Steve is going to give out a big huff of a sigh after telling Eddie to hurry up for a third time. Eddie smirks to himself behind his hair, waiting Steve out until finally Steve comes along and makes a grab at Eddie. He doesn’t always pick him up, sometimes it’s forcibly pulling him to his feet, other times it’s grabbing his hand and leading Eddie out the door, on the occasions when Eddie just complains that he can’t be bothered to move Steve gives him a piggy back and Eddie has the biggest goofiest grin on his face the whole way to wherever they are going, he didn’t take in the details, just knew he wanted Steve to touch him.

Now what Eddie doesn’t know is that Steve is silently begging for Eddie to make a reason for Steve to touch him. Steve worries that people don’t want him near them so when he has an excuse he latches on. Especially when it comes to Eddie. So during the piggy backs Steve is wearing an equally ridiculous smile while trying to hide it. Because of their positions they have no idea the other person is grinning wide enough to split their face. That is, until Jonathan captures of photo them together in piggy back euphoria. Jonathon makes sure to give them both a copy in hopes of helping them to see how well they fit

“I’m Will… Byers. Will Byers. I just moved here with my mom and siblings from Indiana.”

“Okay Will Byers. I’m Y/N L/N. Local gay. Show me your schedule pretty boy, I can take you to your next class.” You wrap your arms around his neck and walk with him. You were towering over him, and he was 5’9.

Will knew where his next class was, it was two weeks into the school year after all, but he let you show him where it was because 1. You were hot. 2. You were gay. 3. You called him pretty boy.

After that you guys talked all the time, and you constantly walked him to class.

You met Jane quickly after meeting Will because she was in a few of his classes.

You thought she was cute and all, but you weren’t vibing with her clothes or style or anything, really.

You definitely gave her a makeover.

Now shes really bitchin.

You also vibe with Jonathon cause he smokes and you think thats cool.

But most of all, you’re like. head over heels for Will.

Constantly over at his house and when you ask him out and he accepts…

Like if you aren’t touching each other in some way you get anxious.

And he just doesn’t like them on himself much.

He loves them on you though.

When you meet Joyce as Will’s boyfriend, she was accepting of you immediately.

She doesn't understand you, but she likes you.

You love her so much.

When shit happens back in Hawkins you go with them.

Cause you're always at their house so it was unavoidable.

And you definitely throw yourself into shit before you even get an explanation.

Like.. you throw yourself in front of Jonathon, Mike, Jane, and Will.

And you carry the guy that got shot out to Argyle's van, although you are a tiny bit upset because you got your clothes bloody in the meantime.

But speaking about Argyle!

You and Argyle are acquaintances.

You definitely get him to add "slay" to his vocabulary.

"I have purple palm tree delight! I'm set! I'm slaying!" He exclaims while driving you guys to Hawkins. Jonathon looks at him as if he was crazy, Will looks at you knowingly, Mike and Jane just sit there confused.

"Your.. slaying?" Jonathon asked, curious about what that meant.

"Yeah! He's slaying!" You put on a wide smile and turn to Will, who is smiling and shaking his head.

You also play Doja Cat and Cardi B on the way to Hawkins which is a slay tbh.

omg and back to the lovey dovey shit:

If you wear makeup or lipstick at least,

Will and Jane love it when you do their makeup.

And you are constantly wiping lipstick off of Will's lips/reapplying your lipstick to yourself cause of kissing.

Oh and you definitely got Will a bunch of skincare stuff, not cause he needs it but because of course you did?

Lets grab a drink.”

Your body stiffens, you knew Jonathon could feel it.

You weren’t ready, he andJungkook were about to be in the same room, with you. Together, breathing the same air.

“I’ll get them.” You say, pulling away.

He pulls you in by the waist.

“No, lets go together.” He insists, pulling you through the backyard into the house, before position you in front and wrapping his arms around your waist.

You waddle into the kitchen, stuck together, like a mutated creature with four legs, arms and two heads.

That’s when you saw him for the first time in a while, a breath hitched inn your chest. His hair had grown, the ends now tickling his shoulders. He had added a new piercing under his already gleaming one. He was wearing a plain black t-shirt that was stretched beyond its limits over his built body. His tattooed arm made your chest tighten.

Then he looks up. His eyes meet yours. Your heart skips several beats.

He says your name and drops the knife he was using to slice lemons.

“Hi.” Your voice comes out quieter than you anticipated.

Jonathon squeezes your waist and yanks you out of the moment you were sharing with Jungkook. He lets go of you and extends his right hand.

“I’m Jonathon, the boyfriend.” He waits for Jungkook to shake his hand. Which he never does, leaving his hand hanging in the air.

“Jungkook.” He nods, his hair falling into his face. He swipes his hands and tucks the fallen strands behind his ear, his piercings shining under the fluorescent lights of the kitchen.

Jonathon retracts his hand and looks at you, his eyes growing in size. He opens his mouth, about to say something when two of your friends, clearly tipsy, stumble into the room.

“We need borrow your tall b-boyfriend. The fairy lights have fallen down and we can’t get on the ladder.” One of them chokes out, still sipping her drink.

Jonathan stares Jungkook down. Not paying any mind to the two girls who were waving their half empty drinks in his face.
