The Minnesota Twins are embarking on an American League Central Title. They headed out on a seven-game road trip tonight in Chicago against the White Sox. A pitcher's duel broke out as Kenta Maeda and Jose Urena threw up zeroes for the first three innings of play. Eddie Julien led-off the fourth with a blast off a Urena fastball out to right for a solo homer. With two outs, Royce Lewis belted a Jose Urena slider out to left for a solo shot. This put the Twins up by two after four innings of play. The Twins added on in the seventh as Alex Kirilloff lined a single to center and Willi Castro doubled to right. Matt Wallner plated a pair with a base hit to right and Kyle Farmer smoked a Jose Urena slider out to left for a two-run homer. The Twins had a six-run lead and Kenta Maeda tossed six shutout innings. Yoan Moncada started a seventh inning rally with a one-out walk. Andrew Vaughn then smacked a Maeda slider out to left for a two-run homer. This pulled the Sox within four after seven innings of play. The Twins would get an insurance run in the ninth when Kyle Farmer reached on a strikeout wild pitch and Christian Vazquez walked. Jorge Polanco then reached on an infield single and Farmer scored on the play. The Twins eventually loaded the bases and Royce Lewis drew a walk. Alex Kirilloff knocked in two more with a base hit to center. Brent Headrick thew a scoreless ninth and the Twins picked up a nice win in Chicago tonight.
-Final Thoughts- Kenta Maeda had a great start logging seven innings. He allowed two runs on four hits with a walk and eight strikeouts. Josh Winder had a scoreless eighth and Brent Headrick put up a zero in the ninth. Alex Kirilloff and Matt Wallner led the team with two hits each. The Twins hit 3-for-8 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. The Magic Number is down to eight with the Indians having an off day today. Tomorrow Bailey Ober faces Jesse Scholtens in Game 2.

Alex Cobb is coming from San Francisco (4-6, 3.99 ERA) Cobb has been a reliable performer in the rotation despite the Giants' struggles to maintain consistency for the most of the season. In his first year with San Francisco, Cobb played his first 11 seasons in the American League and had never suffered a defeat against the Rockies. In three starts versus them, two of which were at Coors Field, he is 3-0 with a 5.71 ERA. In his most recent start, a 6-1 victory against the Diamondbacks in San Francisco, Cobb, 34, performed effectively. In each of his previous four appearances, he has allowed three runs or fewer, which has helped the Giants climb back into the postseason race.
Jose Urena (1-4, 4.80) of Colorado will start the first game of a three-game series on Friday. Colorado, which has dropped five straight games overall after being swept in three games by St. Louis, returns home. Due to the injuries to outfielder Charlie Blackmon and pitcher Antonio Senzatela, a 13-0 loss on Thursday was extremely difficult. Despite missing Friday's game due to a leg injury, manager Bud Black indicated Blackmon won't need to be placed on the disabled list. Senzatela appeared to have more serious leg damage.
