Otra de las joyas del modernismo español en Barcelona, lograda combinando el gótico catalán y el flamenco, es la vecina colindante de la Casa Batlló: la hermosa Casa Amatller, obra del afamado arquitecto Josep Puig i Cadafalch, edificada entre 1898 y 1900, y declarada monumento histórico-artístico el 9 de enero de 1976. Su característica fachada exhibe un inmejorable esgrafiado sutilmente unido a la cerámica, destacando dos puertas asimétricas, ubicadas cada una a un extremo de la fachada, enlazadas por un San Jorge, obra del escultor Eusebi Arnau.

Instituto Amatller de Arte Hispánico

The Institut Amatller d’Art Hispànic was created in 1942 by Teresa Amatller (1873-1960) to support art historical research from mediaeval to modern times. Modelled after the Fick Art Reference Library by its first director, Josep Gudiol (1904-1985), it provides scholars and students with a photo archive of over 360.000 negatives (including those made by Arxiu Mas between 1900 and 1941) plus some 100.000 digital images and a specialized library with more than 30.000 titles.It is part of a private foundation which also has the aim of preserving the house built by the father of the founder, Antoni Amatller (1851-1910), one of the leading chocolate makers in Spain in his times, a widely travelled amateur photographer and art collector. The casa Amatller, built in 1898-1900 under the direction of architect Josep Puig i Cadafalch, is one of the most relevant art nouveau buildings of Barcelona, with the original furniture and decoration, including the collection of some 750 glass pieces covering more than 3.000 years of its history.

Photograph capturing the astonishing details of two beautiful buildings: Casa Amatller (on the left) and Casa Batlló (on the right), which are located on the Passeig de Gràcia in the centre of the Eixample district of Barcelona. The former was designed by Josep Puig i Cadafalch, and the latter by Antoni Gaudí. Along with the Casa Lleó-Morera (designed by Lluís Domènech i Montaner; all hailed from Catalonia), they make up the three most important buildings in the city's famous 'Illa de la Discòrdia' ('Block of Discord')*.

The photo was taken last year by my friend, Andy H-B, and is way better than mine! I did ask Andy for his permission to share the photograph on here, but ever-impatient me couldn't wait for his reply, so I'm posting it anyway! I'm sure he won't mind as he's been fine with me posting other photographs of his before on this blog.

I don't know how he did it, actually. Ok, he's a bit taller than me, but still. He must've been standing on tippy-toes. This is my effort:

Su apertura fue en el año 1902 y cerró el año 1911. Estaba ubicado en el Passeig de Gràcia.Fue una obra hermosa del modernismo. Intervinieron en el proyecto Pere Falqués, Josep Puig i Cadafalch, Ricard de Campmany, Antoni Gaudí, Michael Thonet etc. Cuado cerró la fachada fue desmontada y traspasada al restaurante Grill Room de la calle Escudillers.Algo bastante "corriente" en aquella época, como pasó con la casa Trinxet hasta que se fue perdiendo definitivamente. El bar era propiedad de Flaminio Mezzalama, italiano y dicen que allí se servía el mejor vermut de Barcelona. Debía ser un deleite tomarlo en ese lugar en que tantos maestros trabajaron en él. Pasado el tiempo estuvo durante muchos años la joyeria Roca y en estos momentos está una de las tiendas de joyería de la casa Tous .

Antoni Gaudí i Cornet fue un arquitecto catalán que ha sido reconocido internacionalmente como uno de los expertos más prodigiosos de su disciplina, además de uno de los máximos exponentes del modernismo.(CATALÁN Y ESPAÑOL) fue artífice de un lenguaje arquitectónico único, personal e incomparable difícil de etiquetar. Η Μιρέλα Πάχου δεν σταματά να (μας) ταξιδεύει #challenge_valitsa

Εμάς, με την φωνή και τις ερμηνείες της, την αστείρευτη επί σκηνής ενέργειά της, το τρυφερό της ταμπεραμέντο. Τον εαυτό της, με βαλίτσες, με σακ βουαγιάζ, εντός και εκτός Ελλάδας, για συναυλίες ή για αναψυχή, για όλα.

Υπάρχει κάτι που δεν γίνεται να λείπει από τις αποσκευές της-ε, όλοι και όλες έχουμε κάποια εξάρτηση. Έχει χάσει και αεροπλάνο και καράβι. (μ’ αεροπλάναααα και βαπόοορια). Δεν έχει κάνει ποτέ διακοπές μόνη.

Αυτά και άλλα όμορφα αφηγείται η Μιρέλα Πάχου στην πιο ταξιδιάρα στήλη του followgeorge.gr, λίγο πριν την έναρξη του φετινού καλοκαιριού, το οποίο ευχόμαστε να είναι για εκείνη όσο μελωδικό, ανέμελο και εκρηκτικό της αξίζει.

Πού σχεδιάζεις να περάσεις το φετινό καλοκαίρι, Μιρέλα;

Σε όλη την Ελλάδα και την Κύπρο, σε συναυλιακούς χώρους και μουσικές σκηνές. Με προσωπικές συναυλίες, αλλά και μία παράσταση με τίτλο «Τα κινηματογραφικά ντουέτα», μία ενδιαφέρουσα μουσική συνάντηση με τον αγαπημένο μου Αδάμ Τσαρούχη και μία υπέροχη ομάδα μουσικών, με όμορφα τραγούδια της μεγάλης οθόνης που όλοι έχουμε τραγουδήσει. Και τώρα που το σκέφτομαι, νομίζω πως όλες αυτές οι μουσικές καλοκαιρινές  βραδιές με την αλμύρα και την ανεμελιά, το αεράκι που παρασέρνει μακριά τις στενάχωρες σκέψεις και την ξεχωριστή σύνδεση με το κοινό, έχουν κάτι από τη μαγεία της μεγάλης οθόνης!

Ποιο ταξίδι σου δεν μπορείς να ξεχάσεις με τίποτα;

Ο αγαπημένος μου προορισμός είναι η Ντίσνεϊλαντ, όσες φορές κι αν την επισκεφθώ. Πήγα δυο φορές με την οικογένειά μου όταν ήμουν μικρή και από τότε επιστρέφω ξανά και ξανά.  Πριν λίγες μέρες ήμουν πάλι εκεί και ήταν μαγικά, γιατί φέτος η Ντίσνεϊλαντ γιορτάζει την 30ή επέτειό της. Για μένα είναι μια επιστροφή στη (χαμένη μας;) παιδικότητα!

Προτιμάς να ταξιδεύεις εξωτερικό ή να γυρνάς σε γνώριμα κι αγαπημένα μέρη της Ελλάδας;

Και τα δύο αγαπώ: να ανακαλύπτω και να εξερευνώ καινούργια μέρη στην Ελλάδα και το εξωτερικό αλλά και να επιστρέφω σε αγαπημένους προορισμούς, όπου έχω περάσει όμορφες διακοπές. Και βέβαια, η χαρά του ταξιδιού, πέρα από τη στιγμή που ταξιδεύεις, υπάρχει και στο μετά, στην αναπόλησή του.  

Τι δεν λείπει επουδενί από την βαλίτσα ή τον σάκο σου;

Το λάπτοπ μου. Όσες φορές έχω πει στον εαυτό μου «αυτό το τριήμερο θα τα κλείσω όλα», λίγα δευτερόλεπτα πριν βγω από το σπίτι, ξαναβάζω το λάπτοπ στη βαλίτσα (γέλια). Πέρα από αυτή την εξαίρεση πάντως, στο κάθε ταξίδι ξέρω καλά τι θέλω ν’ αφήσω πίσω μου -όχι τι θέλω να βρω.

Τι σε εκνευρίζει (λίγο ή πολύ) στα ταξίδια;

Οι καθυστερήσεις και οι ατέλειωτες αναμονές. Κυρίως στην επιστροφή, που είναι το πιο άχαρο κομμάτι. Για να περάσουν όσο γίνεται πιο ανώδυνα, βρίσκω ευκαιρία να σβήσω άχρηστα αρχεία από το λάπτοπ που λέγαμε.

Έχεις χάσει ποτέ καράβι/τρένο/αεροπλάνο; Πώς συνέβη, αν συνέβη;

Εννοείται πως ναι. Τα πιο επίφοβα δρομολόγια είναι συνήθως τα πολύ πρωινά: έχω χάσει πτήση για Λάρνακα και καράβι για Πάρο. Ευτυχώς και στις 2 περιπτώσεις μπήκα στα επόμενα δρομολόγια και έτσι τα λάιβ έγιναν κανονικά!

Σε ποια μεγάλη πόλη της Ευρώπης θα ήθελες να δώσεις συναυλία;

Στη Βαρκελώνη, στην Plaza de Josep Puig i Cadafalch.

Ποια η σχέση σου με την θάλασσα;

Απόλυτα βιωματική. Γεννήθηκα και μεγάλωσα στη Ρόδο, σε ένα σπίτι που έχει απόσταση τρία λεπτά από τη θάλασσα. Η σχέση μου με τη θάλασσα είναι σχέση ζωής.

Θα ταξίδευες ολομόναχη; Το έχεις κάνει, μήπως;

Ταξιδεύω πολύ συχνά μόνη, αλλά μέχρι στιγμής όχι για διακοπές. Λες να το προγραμματίσω;

Οι φίλοι σου θέλουν να σου κάνουν δώρο ένα ταξίδι, όλα πληρωμένα. Πού θα ευχόσουν να σου κλείσουν;

Χριστούγεννα στη Νέα Υόρκη! Παιδιά βιαστείτε, γιατί τα εισιτήρια ακριβαίνουν!

The work of Catalan architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner (21 December 1850 – 27 December 1923). Domènech i Montaner is a key part of the Modernisme "trinity", along with Antoni Gaudí i Cornet and Josep Puig i Cadafalch. He designed many beautiful buildings during his working period, and was a key influence of the Modernisme movement - which was the Catalan version of Art Nouveau

Declarada monumento histórico nacional en 1976, la Casa de Terradas, conocida popularmente como la Casa de los Pinchos, en catalán la Casa de les Punxes, diseñado por el arquitecto modernista Josep Puig i Cadafalch, en la avenida Diagonal de Barcelona, es un reconocido edificio de aspecto medieval, con elementos propios de la arquitectura gótica europea. Esta obra fue un encargo de las hermanas Terrades, las tres hijas de Bartomeu Terradas i Mont, reconocido empresario textil catalán, quienes querían unificar tres inmuebles de su propiedad. Para la construcción de la fachada se utilizó ladrillo, y en ella pueden verse algunos plafones decorativos.
