Virgil doesn't go on testosterone despite being Masc-leaning presenting.

The reason? They don't feel the need to.

Their main dysphoria was top dysphoria and the fact that they were AFAB and could carry a pregnancy.

They went on to get top surgery and a hysterectomy but they never went on T because they feel comfortable with their body now that they've eliminated their main causes of dysphoria.

Even if their voice is "feminine" they just do vocal training with a coach to make their voice deeper (And they had a pretty deep voice for someone AFAB)

The Moment They Fell

Warnings: I promise this is fluff, but it also has Villiany, mention of crime, killing, murder

Summary: Phantom au Virgil fell in love with Roman at some point… so when was it? This writing shows plenty of times that they possibly fell in love with him.

A/N: this is my and @shapa-likes-art’s shared au, the Phantom au! Roman is a villain and Virgil is a journalist who falls for him. Virgil also uses they/them pronouns in this au! - I quite literally thought of this and couldn’t stop myself from writing this and wrote and edited it all in like… an hour or so. I was just so inspired haha. Anyways, enjoy!!

When did Virgil fall for Roman? Well… there’s not one particular moment that anyone can pinpoint. It was like a bunch of different moments that made up their love for him in the end. So what was the first time they were in love with him?

Maybe it started in college. Their eyes fixed on their laptop screen as a new villain appeared in Cardenia, only 40 minutes away from their college dorm. The Phantom. He was strong. So unbelievably strong. And he had tech that would put any genius technician to shame. He was smart and snarky and intimidating. He made a shiver run down Virgil’s spine at the way he spoke and the crazed but calculated movements he was making.

Or maybe it started when they got fired from their first journalism job and they went full time on their blog and researched nothing but the Phantom day and night. Maybe it was analyzing his every move and slowly realizing that this man was the smartest and most calculated person they had ever had the pleasure of laying their eyes on.

But back then he was just a fantasy. More of a celebrity crush. They loved him in the same way they loved the idea of the world ending. He intrigued them, more than anything. He danced across their mind and they wondered what it would be like to meet him, but it was a fantasy. He was a mystery. He was dangerous, but Virgil knew he would be gorgeous and impressive, much like they thought of the end of the world.

So maybe it was when they were interviewed by billionaire CEO Roman Prince for their job at Kingdom Ent. Maybe it was the way he asked them about their theories and listened to them rant about theories that were already proven false, but they hadn’t written about yet. Maybe it was the fact that, no matter how hard they tried, he was the one person who had ever been able to avoid their analytical eye. He was the one and only person to ever confuse Virgil. He was the one person that Virgil couldn’t read the moment they laid eyes on him. It took more than that to read Roman Prince. And that made Virgil more intrigued in him than they had ever been in anyone else.

But he was just a charmer back then. Sure, they flirted with him, but they definitely wouldn’t say they were in love with him. They were simply scoping him out. They were trying to read him. Sure, he was attractive as any man that Virgil had ever met, but he was just that at first.

Maybe the moment Virgil fell was when they realized how fucking smart Roman was. Maybe it was when Roman showed off his genius casually and Virgil realized that they were more similar than they had thought before. When they realized that Roman wasn’t just some golden child rich boy who got anything he wanted and was stuck up.

Maybe it was when Virgil first heard Roman Prince use the voice of the Phantom in casual conversation. Maybe it was moments later when Virgil realized the tone in his voice from the way it sent shivers down their spine and the way that their heart skipped a beat. Maybe it was when they had gone home and connected all of the evidence and knew that Roman was the Phantom. Maybe it was when he showed up at their apartment to threaten them and they knew he could kill them in that moment, but they didn’t care.

But, no… it wasn’t that either….

So when was it?

Was it when they first made out?

Or perhaps their first date.

Or their second, third, or fourth.

Maybe it was when Roman and Virgil moved in together and they got to spend every waking moment with each other from work to home…

Maybe it was when the simple touch of Roman made Virgil’s stomach flutter with butterflies and made their heart race.

Maybe it was when they noticed just how gentle and caring Roman was and they realized just how happy that made them feel.

Maybe… maybe…

It was all of that. All of the moments that they had seen or known of Roman and the Phantom… they all added up to the love that Virgil developed for Roman. It was all of the firsts, seconds, and so on. It was the soft touches. It was the teasing. It was the jokes. It was the kisses. It was the caring. It was…

It was Roman. All of Roman. All of the time.

They loved everything about him. No matter what time of day or what season or what emotions they were going through. They loved everything about him.

So when did they fall so madly in love with him?

They couldn’t tell exactly, but they now knew when they first realized that they were in love with him.

It was simple. It was simply when they were sitting in their office before they even started dating. They sat there as the work day started to near a close, and as they worked, they started to feel their heart race and a smile creep it’s way onto their face simply from the thought of Roman coming into their office and convincing them to stop working and go home and get some sleep. When they heard footsteps down the hall and then got upset when they realized it wasn’t Roman’s footsteps coming to greet them. When they realized they wanted him around them all of the time. When they were willing to not be working so much to be able to see Roman at whatever time they could…

But, of course, they didn’t let themself know they were in love with him until much later. They just pushed the thought of loving him away and waited for him to show up in their office. They didn’t let themself realize and actually love him until much later. Until they were dating and they let themself realize that he wasn’t going to leave. That he loved them back. That they were safe and comfortable with him.

We may not know when exactly Virgil fell in love with Roman, but we do know that they did fall eventually. We know that Roman and Virgil are madly in love and they will never let each other go. No matter the cost of their relationship. Because they love each other to a fault.

WHAT A HAPPY DAY FOR US LIVERPOOL FANS!!!

Liverpool beat Chelsea 0-1 with an amazing goal by Liverpool captain Virgil Van Dijk at the 118th minute!! An amazing bounce back from the Dutch man himself with his first goal being ruled offside but later coming back with the winner!! Van Dijk was also chosen for MOTM for his phenomenal performance! Even with Ryan Grevnberch being subbed off due to injury all players still gave it their all! A big congratulations to all youngers who debuted and youngers who played their first final today leaving with their first professional trophy/medal!

I need to talk about Virgil in Deja Vu for a moment because he's the light of my life (I really love Virgil in all your fics but in that au especially he's SO GOOD)

The way he's so snarky and done with everyone's shit, but he gets all starry-eyed when he's talking to Remus and has adorable little quirks like pronouncing gif as jif. He brings me so much joy

Occasionally all you need in life is Virgil with fangs. Scientifically proven, as Remus is about to find out, because he just met his number one fan and Virgil is not going to shut up about it.

Virgil is 10000% that person who is like “leave me out of your shit” but also secretly “tell me all the drama about it first”.

I’m so glad that people love him. He deserves all the love for what Janus and Remus are about to pull him into >:D

This interview with Virgil is so entertaining and the journalist, Polly Vernon, is slightly unhinged in the best way:

Virgil van Dijk walks round the Cavern Club exuding Big Captain Energy from every pore. He raises the excitement levels of the assembled crowd of journalists and PRs and marketing managers, jollies along those who require jolliment, calms those who are a touch overexcited and loud. He listens to those who need to be heard, herds everyone in the right direction should they need to be moved, perks things up with a well-timed gag should they flag. Van Dijk is 6ft 5in with a muscular charisma only ever deployed for the greater good.

Van Dijk’s not flirty with it, mind. He has no interest in being reassured of his handsomeness or of leveraging it; just accepts it — accepts that it makes for a better shot of him playing drums on stage at the Cavern or standing in the bow of the boat that tours the docks, all of which again serves the greater purpose of the day. Big Captain Energy, see? Which should be annoying — lacking in snide edge and cynicism and all the things I value, generally speaking — except I appear to be in Van Dijk’s team currently, experiencing what it is to be captained by him, to be rallied, supported and included by him, and I gotta tell you: it feels really good.

…then he and I sit down for our interview. I only just resist saying, “Alone at last,” though this has less to do with my guiding sense of propriety (I have none) and more with us being very much not alone.

Louis has a stylist for all his public events. His stylist goes to all the top fashion shows in Europe yet he seems to be the celebrity whose fashion seems to be least influenced by his stylists taste and brand loyalty.

Helene styles so many other celebrities and her outfits for them are so different to what she picks for Louis both in terms of fits and brands.

She doesn’t seem to favour Blackberry, Stone Island or Lacoste as much for anyone else as she does for him. It almost looks like it comes more from him.

I wonder why that is.

I’m just guessing but:

1. There is a definite crossover between English football culture, specifically Northern English football culture, and certain fashion brands. Louis has called himself a “chav” from the North as a badge of pride (reclaiming it from British derogatory classism). You can read up on the co-opting of the Burberry brand in the 1990's as signifier of this phenomenon. It's not all good: you'll see plenty of xenophobia and racism in the mix too. Anyway, indie UK rock has a huge presence in football, and fashion is important for the men (they're mostly men) involved. Stone Island, Lacoste, Wales Bonner, and lots of designers that Louis favors are designers who pay attention to high end football prêt-à-porter.

2. Sometimes haute couture brands have a rock personality in their past. Virgil Abloh (Off White) worked with Demna Gvasalia who is now head of Balenciaga. They both worked with Kanye West at Vetements. Yeezy (the brand) did alright in sales (to put it mildly), and made Kanye a $hundreds millionaire. It’s not a bad model to follow if a rock star were to, say, launch their own sports-oriented fashion brand.

3. Louis’ interest in fashion also skews avant-garde, edgy, and Japanese. His love of deconstructed shirts, of wry references to punk or pop culture, and minimalist, futuristic brands like Yamamoto’s Y-3, Kawakubo’s Comme des Garçons, Dries Van Noten denote his dry sense of humor. Louis doesn’t wear clothes to shout out, “Look at me! I’m a real celebrity!” His quiet luxury is so quiet, it doesn’t even look luxurious except for the people in the know. This is why journalists called his Melbourne airport look “lazy baseball cap, sweatshirt and pants,” when it’s actually a $2000 outfit.

So in short, Louis has a real interest in his fashion niche. He’s studied it and he’s been very consistent over the years. Louis wears the clothes; they don’t wear him. This is part of the reason that designers want him to wear their clothes: Louis makes the clothes look smarter, better, more expensive, cooler. That’s all on Louis, not a stylist.

"The Breed" starts out relatively light-hearted, with Frieda wanting to write an article on a star of the track team for the school newspaper. I'm not entirely sure if her being called Lois Lane in response is meant to be referencing an in-universe journalist or if the 'mainstream' Justice League weren't considered to be part of this show's reality at this point. There's also the possibility that the writers were deliberately ambiguous in case they wanted space to change their mind later on.

Most of the episode centers on Virgil trying to convince the newly altered Derek that he has options outside of joining the 'Meta-Breed', a gang currently consisting of Ebon, Talon, and Shiv. Between Derek's mother being firm but supportive and Robert's own behavior, I think the show is trying to convey that getting teens not to join gangs would take more than the teens having supportive parental figures- that there are larger societal issues than what's going on in immediate families which cause teens to join gangs.

Simply put, Minneapolis did not defund the police. It’s the opposite. The police are defunding Minneapolis.

How? Well, first there are the costly settlements from the violence the police committed: $27 million for George Floyd’s family; $2.4 million for protester Soren Stevenson; $650,000 for journalist Linda Tirado. Tirado and Stevenson both have an eyeball missing as a result of the police firing so called “less lethal” rubber-coated steel bullets at them during protests. There is $1.5 million for Jaleel Stallings, a Black army veteran who was hit by a less-lethal round from MPD officers riding around in an unmarked van five days after Floyd’s murder. Under the impression it was a real bullet, Stallings fired a real gun in self defense. He was beaten by the cops and charged with attempted murder only to be acquitted on all charges. His friend Virgil Lee Jackson Jr., who was with him and beaten and tased for two minutes, also received a $645,000 settlement. The total is staggering. An actuarial study by the city in 2021 estimated that legal claims made in the fifteen days after Floyd’s murder would lead to Minneapolis paying out $111 million in lawsuit settlements.

Then, there is the cost of the police officers themselves. Nearly 300 officers have left the department since Floyd’s murder, over one third of the force. Over 200 have left with workers’ compensation settlement checks and lucrative disability pensions, based on claims that policing the protests gave them post-traumatic stress disorder. Are these civil servants reaping the benefits of hard-won public-sector labor protections after bravely fulfilling their duty? Or is this a permanent version of what labor organizers would call a “sick out”?

Either way, some of these cops are getting generous retirement packages (costing the city money) after a career of complaints (costing the city money). One officer racked up more than $344,000 in misconduct settlements over the course of 12 years. He’s now receiving $56,000 a year in disability pension, on top of $195,000 in a workers comp settlement, according to records reviewed by Winter. Another officer—one of five involved in the 2013 SWAT Team killing of a Black man named Terrance Franklin (after new reporting by Time the case has undergone renewed scrutiny)—is making more than $128,000 a year on disability pension, on top of $195,000 in his workers’ comp settlement. Those officers who fired at Stallings from an unmarked van, and fractured his eye socket? Three of them are getting a combined $22,000 a month in disability pension for the trauma inflicted upon them.

Since Floyd’s murder, Minneapolis has paid more than $23 million in workers’ compensation settlements to police officers, according to the Star Tribune. Ronald Meuser, an attorney representing 200 MPD officers (a large portion of which he says were inside the 3rd Precinct station, and were forced to flee the building before the station eventually was set on fire by protesters), estimates that the city will eventually pay out $35 million dollars.

This is a great deal of money. The combination of these payouts and police misconduct settlements is approaching $150 million dollars. That’s more than three fourths of what the MPD’s budget was in 2020. The city’s self-insurance fund, which it uses to pay out settlements, is expected to be at negative 94 million dollars by the end of 2022.

1. I feel like Skye (@thunderholtz ) and I have talked about it before but I can't remember clearly haha

I feel like they'd feel kind of betrayed but I can't recall much about how exactly it would go I feel like skye would be better equipped to answer.

Roman would probably be very calm and resign himself to accepting that Virgil might leave him and they they'd be hurt and angry and so he's prepared many methods on keeping Virgil with him or having them keep secrecy.

2. Their first date wasn't all that classy imo

Roman knew that Virgil would probably prefer a more chill and casual date than to a big and extravagant one. He might reserve a table at One of Virgil's favorite restaurants and after they take a small walk and then they go over to Roman's to cuddle and talk while they watch a show. Very sweet and chill.

You're not too far off! :D.

3. They do not <3

They might bicker sometimes and challenge each other with stupid and silly stuff but they almost never get into huge arguments.

Both of them are very logical so whenever they start to have a beginning of an argument they pause and go into separate rooms to calm down before meeting back up in the living room and calmly and carefully discuss and talk it out.

They get resolved so quick and without much frustration you can barely call it an argument. They just end up cuddling and exchanging affection.

They might have play-arguments however because they don't have any often. Its mostly them being silly and overdramatic bddjdbfb

Skye and I joked that they once had a "breakup" where they did one of their play arguments that ended with "GAAASSP how dare you, we're over >:0!!" and both know it's all a joke.

One of them acts offended and leaves and they pretend that they're spending time away from each other before they get bored and call the other back and they reunite with a playful kiss and monologue and they continue their lives like normal hahaha

4. Skye and I have many aus of this au it's insane

Right now we're talking about an AU where Roman's royalty and Virgil was hired to be his assistant. Because of circumstances, they start fake dating and because of Dominic and Analyn they get engaged.

We like to do silly things and concepts with this au. In every au of this au, Roman's still phantom and still some sort of heir and Virgil's still Nonbinary and still some sort of Journalist.

We also had an au where they met in high school in a boarding school and they were kind of Rivals <3.

I just randomly came up with an au idea…

Logan, a journalist, finds himself interested in writing about the recent crime spike in his city, and more importantly, the person behind it all. The crime has been linked back to a large group (a gang, if you will) of people. They seem to execute these crimes flawlessly, as they’re good at covering their tracks to the point that no investigator can identify any individuals, just the gang itself.

Roman, Logan’s best friend, is apart of that group of investigators with his partner Patton. He begs Logan that if he finds any kind of information to bring it back to him before he makes it public. Logan agrees.

However, Logan’s method of getting the information is a bit dangerous. He actively goes looking for the gang, wanting to have some kind of interview with them, not entirely understanding how bad of an idea that is, especially with people who could probably get away with murder if they wanted to.

Remus is the leader of said gang, with his bestie and expert thief (and probably a good hitman) Janus. The two started the gang in hopes to bite back at society and, in Janus’ case, just the authorities in general. Neither of them have ever done well following rules or being generally good people, so they figured why not. And hey! They got more people who think just like them! The two agreed, however, that they need to remain hidden during the day, and cover their identities as much as possible so as to not get caught. They’ve done well so far! (Virgil is also apart of said gang, but joined more so because he hates a specific person and wants to rebel against them.)

But what happens when Logan stumbles upon Remus during daylight hours, unknowingly chatting with the leader of the gang he’s trying to find?

This was the first piece that I put out there, so naturally it has a special place in my heart. It's a short work following Jeff in the Oort Cloud. He reflects on life and love and loss.

International Rescue, We Have A Situation (Part of The Long Game fic)

This fic is currently on an unofficial hiatus because I got stuck on it (mainly because I didn't plot it properly but that's a whole other story), but the opening chapter is still one of my favourite pieces.

This is from Virgil's POV and is set in the aftermath of Jeff coming home. Tensions are rising in the Tracy household and Virgil, once again, is the one having to try and smooth things over.

Aliens in Control? Who really leads International Rescue? (Part of the Tabloid Trash series)

This one has probably been the most fun I've had writing a piece of Thunderbirds fiction (that's been published anyway). It was spawned from wondering what kind of ridiculous headlines that tabloids would write when given the topic of The Tracys. The title, I think, is pretty self explanatory on which topic this particular article is about.

Haunted

Wayne Rigby's muse caught me one night when I couldn't sleep, so I decided to indulge it and this was the result. I do have some more ideas going forward for this, even wrote a little more after I posted this specific one, but I'm not sure if they'll pan out. We'll see.

But this is a very short piece where Rigby is being haunted by the events of his past. His anxieties are keeping him from much needed sleep and, lost in his thoughts in the dead of night, he's becoming lost in endless worries over things he cannot change.

RÉVOLTE POUR NAHEL : UNE RÉPRESSION D'UNE VIOLENCE INÉDITE

- Un bilan provisoire à faire connaître, pour ne pas oublier -

Nous avons tenté de recenser les victimes de la répression de la révolte après la mort de Nahel. En quatre nuits seulement, la police a tué un homme, brisé plusieurs vies à tout jamais, procédé à des milliers d'arrestations. Sans compter le nombre considérable de blessés qui ne se signaleront sans doute jamais. Voici donc un bilan provisoire de cette répression militarisée dans banlieues :

🔴 Violences physiques 🔴

➡️ Un mort à Marseille

Dans la nuit du 1er au 2 juillet : Mohamed, livreur de 27 ans, père d'un fils de deux ans et qui attendait un autre enfant, a été tué par un tir de LBD. Alors qu'il circulait à scooter ce soir là, il est retrouvé mort, avec le choc d'une balle en caoutchouc dans le thorax. Les dernières images retrouvées dans son téléphone sont une vidéo de policiers arrêtant un homme, filmées quelques minutes avant qu'il ne soit retrouvé. Un policier a donc abattu Mohammed avant de le laisser agoniser sur le bitume.

➡️ Deux personnes dans le coma

À Mont Saint-Martin, en Lorraine, le 30 juin. Aimène, agent de sécurité de 25 ans, rentrait du travail et venait de rejoindre ses amis. Alors qu'ils sont en voiture, le jeune homme reçoit un tir en pleine tête : un «bean bag», une cartouche contenant du plomb, tirée par le RAID. Il est plongé dans le coma. Les habitants de la ville racontent une nuit «terrifiante» durant laquelle le RAID «tirait à tout va», dissimulé dans les buissons. Un habitant a filmé une scène dans laquelle on voit trois voitures roulant à faible allure, puis le RAID tirer en leur direction.

À Marseille, le 1er juillet, Hedi est laissé pour mort. Il sort de son travail en hôtellerie vers 1h30 et rejoint un ami. Coincé dans une ruelle par des policiers en civil, il reçoit un tir de LBD dans la tempe avant d’être passé à tabac. Il fait une rupture d’anévrisme, puis sombre dans le coma. Miraculeusement, il se réveillera après une prise en charge en urgence absolue. «Selon les médecins, j’aurais dû être un légume» dit-il à la presse. Il garde de lourdes séquelles et devra être réopéré.

➡️ Cinq éborgnés

Virgil éborgné par LBD à Nanterre, le 29 juin. Après la marche blanche pour Nahel appelée par la mère du défunt, cet ancien militaire part s'acheter à manger. «Hé toi, casse-toi !» lui crie un policier. Virgil relève la tête en direction des agents. «La dernière image enregistrée par mon œil gauche est celle du point lumineux du LBD avec lequel le policier me visait». Il perd un œil sur le coup.

Le 27 juin, un autre jeune homme est éborgné à Nanterre. Une vidéo montre un très jeune garçon évacué sur un fauteuil avec une blessure saignante à l’œil, dès le premier jour de révolte suite à la mort de Nahel. Son nom n'est pas connu.

Mehdi a été éborgné par LBD à Saint-Denis. C'était le mercredi 28 juin au soir. L'impact du tir l'a gravement blessé à l’œil et à la tempe droite. Il est laissé au sol, se réfugie dans une école et appelle les secours seul.

À Angers le 3 juillet, un homme de 32 ans est éborgné par un tir de LBD dans le centre-ville, alors que la police protégeait un local d'extrême droite. Au même moment, un autre homme est gravement blessé par un autre tir de LBD qui lui fracture le visage.

Aux Ulis, en région parisienne, une femme qui rentrait du travail a reçu un tir du RAID dans sa voiture en pleine tête.

➡️ Une main arrachée

Le 30 juin à Villejuif, des morceaux de main sont retrouvés dans la rue. Un journaliste de Cnews, informé par la police, parle d'un «morceau de phalange et les restes de grenade» qui «ont été prélevés» par la police pour retrouver la victime, qui ne s'est pas manifestée.

➡️ D'autres cas nous ont été signalés, mais préfèrent rester secrets pour le moment, notamment un hématome intra-crânien par un tir de LBD. Des dizaines d'autres personnes ont subi des passages à tabac au moment de leur arrestation. Lors de nombreux procès, les personnes arrêtées arrivaient avec des hématomes et des plaies dans la salle du tribunal.

🔴 Violences judiciaires 🔴

➡️ La police a procédé à 3400 arrestations en 4 nuits.

➡️ En 2 semaines, 1278 jugements ont été prononcés, avec un taux record de 95% de condamnations. 63% ont été condamnés à de la prison ferme, avec une moyenne des peines de 8,2 mois. Il s'agit très souvent de simples vols en marge des émeutes. Par exemple des personnes qui ont été interpellées après avoir récupéré de la nourriture ou des vêtements dans des magasins.

➡️ Pour le moment, près de 600 personnes ont été incarcérées.

Et ce ne sont que les interpellations immédiates. Les enquêtes, perquisitions et arrestations a posteriori vont continuer pendant des mois.

🔴 Une violence inédite 🔴

En comparaison, en une année de révolte des Gilets Jaunes, 3204 condamnations ont été prononcées, pour un total de 440 Gilets Jaunes incarcérés. Ce qui était déjà énorme, et qui le reste : une violence judiciaire extrême pour l'époque.

Sur le plan des dégâts humains, du traitement judiciaire et de l'arsenal déployé, la répression de juin/juillet 2023 est tout simplement inédite depuis la guerre d'Algérie. Surtout sur un laps de temps aussi court : un mort, deux comas, autant de mutilés et de peines de prisons pour quatre nuits de colère seulement – suite à l'exécution d'un adolescent, rappelons-le. C'est bien plus violent que durant la réforme des retraites, les Gilets Jaunes, Notre-Dame-des-Landes ou même les émeutes de 2005.

Et le pire ? Les médias ne parlent quasiment pas de cette répression inouïe, ou alors pour la trouver insuffisante. Elle est considérée comme normale, légitime, incontestable puisqu'elle s'exerce sur des corps non-blancs, habitant les banlieue, et contre une révolte qui n'emprunte pas les formes «classiques» de la contestation.

Pourtant, tout le monde devrait regarder avec gravité ce qu'il se passe, et exiger réparation pour les blessés et liberté pour les inculpés. Car ce qui a été testé pendant ces quatre nuits d'été dans les banlieues française sera, soyez-en sûrs, généralisé contre toutes les formes de contre-pouvoirs.
