Shoutout requests from my Private Collector folks! I don’t know who some of these characters are but it’s always fun to draw ones I’ve never seen before (except for Mikael and JP at the bottom, I could draw them with my eyes closed). Every month that someone’s pledged to my Private Collector tier on Patreon, they get an inked request that appears in my monthly sketchbook The request acts as mini commissions and folks can ask for their OCs, my OCs, or any kind of fanart.

Wild card Oliver Okonkwo (graduate student) and Lucas Horve (senior) are currently studying in the University of Illinois, playing doubles together throughout this academic year. Interestingly, they came all the way to the finals by stunning second seeds Hans Hach Verdugo/Luis David Martinez 5-7, 7-5, [10-8] in the quarterfinals and fourth seeds George Goldhoff/Alfredo Perez 7-6(3), 6-4 in the semifinals before setting up a clash against first seeds John-Patrick Smith/Sem Verbeek, who won the Charlottesville Challenger a fortnight ago, defeating Ezekiel Clark/Evan Zhu 6-4, 6-4 in the quarterfinals before defeating Alex Rybakov/Pedro Vives Marcos 6-4, 6-7(5), [10-8] in a classic encounter. On paper, this could be a neat meeting, but experience might have proven itself in the first set.

After two consecutive holds, JP/S. Verbeek tried to press O. Okonkwo/L. Horve more from the lines as S. Verbeek’s down-the-line returns created the chance for him to secure the break point before it was converted over L. Horve’s down-the-line error to 2-1. Without any further ado, JP/S. Verbeek held their service game to 3-1, and doubled the break thanks to S. Verbeek’s forehand return ace that created the preceding break point. This was followed by two consecutive service game holds before JP/S. Verbeek had the opportunity to serve for the first set, where they held to 0 to take the first set 6-2, with an unreturned serve to top it off to kick off this match in a solid manner.

10 Years of Dead City

Dead City's 10th anniversary is tomorrow (October 31st) and while the comic is over I'm so happy to have done it! My celebration towards the comic was making and printing the omnibus book, a version of the comic that's been revamped with all new lettering, layouts and some art edits. It's so beautiful! Ending two long-standing webcomics in one year is a lot. But I’m so happy with how Dead City turned out. I love these boys so much and I never could have made it this far without my partner Michelle who stuck with me through the whole thing and wrote such a great wholesome comic. I know a lot of people were expecting more from it. More zombies, more action, more drama, but that’s not really what Dead City was about. We knew from the start that it was going to be pretty zombie-free, we wanted to focus more on the characters and them growing closer than make it another “Walking Dead”. Mikael and JP would meet, grow closer, fall in love, journey through Toronto to JP’s fancy apartment and be safe together with a hint of hope at the end that everything’s going to work out. This was a way for Michelle and I to learn how to create comics together and it was never going to be a 1000 page epic, we didn’t want that for our first story but even still it did manage to get pretty long at 330 pages. I also think ending it during a world pandemic is pretty powerful. It’s hopeful. Everything’s going to be alright! I hope everyone enjoyed our first comic and I’m really looking forward to what’s up and coming for us in the future! In the mean time you can check out all the Dead City art I’ve posted up here. I can’t thank everyone enough for reading this and supporting us. Thank you!
