!! CHAPTER 7 / DIASOMNIA ARC SPOILERS !!

I am not in the mood to study so yeah (Part 3):

The senate (which are just these 3 floaty thingies) start to blame him for Meleanor's death and they punish him by banning him from the capital (which makes Silver and Sebek realize why Lilia can't do certain things). BUT BAD NEWS GUYS THE BLOT IS BACK and it's forming around Lilia with him muttering that he'll join them (Meleanor and Leverne) soon...

All of a sudden the ring (yknow the one Silver has) teleports them to another old memory, taking place 10 years after the war where Lilia was secretly called by Maleficia. Apparently Malleus eggo stopped accepting her magic and that direct touch and love would be more efficient

Baul wants Lilia to travel to various to find ways to hatch Malleus eggo and also reminds Lilia of Meleanor's last words where if she's gone, Lilia will be the one in charge of hatching him (as well as acting like a married couple with Leverne OKAYYYYYY)

Lilia tells the eggo that if he ends up in the stars before Lilia returns, eggo's parents are going to scold him so he asks Malleus to hold on AND MOTHERFUCKER

Lilia travels around the world, but everytime he brings up the egg people immediately shum him out, saying that dragons only exist in fairy tales. But every time Lilia comes back to Malleus eggo, Baul notices that the magic increases. Then Lilia suddenly brings up that Meleanor was a picky eater while Leverne was a honor student but in reality the dude hid his veggies under the table 😭😭😭

A rumor goes around that there was a castle holding dragons so Lilia goes to check it out, but he was too late. He then breaks down asking if anyone knew how to hatch the egg until magic suddenly overflows and boom we got the origin story of Lilia's UM. He uses this to his advantage to find more research to hatch Malleus

200 years has passed and Lilia was succesful

MALLEUS COMES TO LIFE LET'S GOOOOO (AND LEONA WAS RIGHT HE DOES LOOK LIKE A LIZARD (AFFECTIONATE))

Lilia breaks down cuz after 200 YEARS MAN HE FINALLY DID IT , MALLEUS GAVE HIM HOPE 🥹

Silver finally understands why the dream turned out like this, Lilia lost everyone but his happiest moment was bringing Malleus to life. The senate praise Lilia for being a hero but something happens

OVERBLOT MALLEUS IS BACK AYEEEEEEEEEEEE I MISS YOU BOO

LILIA LOOKS AT OB MALLEUS AND THOUGHT IT SOUNDED LIKE LEVERNE BUT MALLEUS LOOKS LIKE MELEANOR

Malleus pretty much goes nuts here because the senate and Maleficia were lying to him. He then asks Lilia what dream does he want: One where Meleanor and Leverne lived or something else that makes him happy BUT SILVER AND SEBEK MANAGE TO INTERVENE AND SNAP LILIA BACK TO REALITY YEYYYYYY

With Lilia now back to us, the group proceeds to run away but while that was happening Lilia mentioned this

Then Silver promises Lilia that they will meet again and activates his UM BUT THEN A HOLGRAM OF ORTHO APPEARS TO THEM

THEY'RE ALL BACK AND IGNIHYDE WITH IDIA SAYING "time for the main event~~~~" LET'S GOOO THE SHROUD BROS ARE BACK BABY

Manifesting real hard for the next update being the Shroud bros segment cuz if you think about it Idia didn't need any assistance to escape the dream LIKE BRO ACCEPTED THE FACT HIS BROTHER IS DEAD AND THAT'S HARD

This was surprisingly short (or maybe I was rushing) with only 3 parts but hope you guys enjoyed it!!

My gift for @thewholekittyandkaboodle for the @lwasanta secret santa gift exchange. Both art, and a fanfic! I was assigned to make a a fic centered on the red team, with one of the major themes being teamwork. And this gave me the idea to do a character study of the red team through the eyes of Diana!Thus, this story was born, and I teamed up with a good artist friend of mine, Pili, to make the cover! I tried to get this out by Christmas, but my job got busy, and this story took a life on its own, and what I had planned to be a one-shot turned into a three-shot. But still, I’m sorry for the delay; I’m gonna do my best to get out the next chapter in about a month. For those of you who follow Envenomation, know that there might be a one/two week delay because this fic has taken up a lot of my free time lately. Again, I’ll do my best to get it out soon, but, right now, I’m honestly feeling a bit sick, so I’m not sure how much writing I’ll be able to get done. And with that, these notes come to a close. !! CHAPTER 7 / DIASOMNIA ARC SPOILERS !!

Picking up where I last left off let's go let's go (Part 2):

Remember how it was mentioned that Malleus most likely isn't monitoring this dream? Well Silver thinks that because this is during the time where Malleus isn't even born yet so he couldn't really control what he couldn't imagine

Ok going back so the rest of the gang and Lilia are going to the place where Maleficia is most likely at? Also this part is funny but Grim nearly got struck by lightning from Meleanor's magic (sorry little guy it's fun bullying you from time to time). Grim also makes a comment that Malleus eggo is a big bitch AHAHAHAHAHA. But then they get surrounded by Silver Owls who will let them live if they surrender Malleus eggo (NO). Lilia was about to get stabbed but SILVER SAVES HIM and we get another "he looks like the Knight of Dawn" moment but it's literally this

Yuu was starting to get tired from carrying Malleus eggo so Silver offers to carry the said eggo. Grim wonders if Silver's got endless stamina but he says it's for a different reason and it was because he remembered the day where Lilia told him he was adopted, when Lilia carried him home in the pouring rain (tears are pouring down my eyes as I'm typing)

So the gang are currently in a Briar Guard Camp, where they get attacked cuz the guards thought they were the bad guys 💀. But luckily after that they managed to recover. Lilia has recovered enough to be able to carry Malleus eggo again, and Grim saves Yuu from a lightning strike. More Silver Owls appear and before Silver faces them Sebek comes to save the day together with Baul

The earthquake and thunder start getting worse as thorns (similar to Malleus OB) start appearing which doesn't look too good.....Meleanor overblotted. The group immediately arrive at the castle to deliver Malleus eggo and Lilia wants to return to Meleanor immediately

The scene moves to Meleanor and the Knight of Dawn where he wished that they could have come up with a compromise but harmed each other too many times to make it happen. His final wish was for humans and fae to live in peace (STOP IT RIGHT NOW)

The rain stops, Meleanor's magic is no longer lingering in the air. This revelation causes Lilia to break down cuz he wasn't able to keep her and Leverne's promise.

Stopping here for now cuz I'm getting lost but don't worry I will continue once I finish studying

Fun fact about asakiku/kikuasa: the JP fandom also refers to kikuasa as "jijimayu" (じじまゆ, じじ眉)

Jiji comes from 祖父 (lit. grandfather, old man) from 祖国 (lit. homeland, fatherland) (a nickname for Japan from the Japanese fans)

Mayu comes from 眉 (lit. eyebrows) (you can guess why.)

I guess the translation would be old man eyebrows LOL.

There's something interesting to be said about the opinions of different fanbases based on culture and how it affects the votes but it's late and I can't write it out too much so only one example for today: amane

Basically I think the jp/more asian parts of the fandom tend to lean towards greater good (amane guilty to protect shidou/mahiru/fuuta because if shidous incapacitated in any way someone's dying, mahiru is prone to dying any moment, fuuta is prone to cult mindset rn). Despite my non japanese speaking ass not being able to gather direct evidence for this, I use those surrounding me (asian in asian country) as evidence; namely, how they're mostly amane guilty voters

-Now I'm not saying my personal take but the reason given for guilting her is well. As much as it will cause her more woe it's one way of guaranteeing the safety of the prison. Shidou is the only medical professional after all, and she's "completely hostile" towards him, acc to jackalope. And she doesn't need to overpower him; shes smart, and could sabotage his equipment or just like. Go for his hands to incapacitate him. I doubt he'd fight back.

-Alternatively, it's because it would cause her to fall back on believing she's right. Telling her she's forgiven with how she's acting would cause her to believe her persistance and dedication to this (harmful) mindset is what got her forgiven in the first place

-Meanwhile more western? English fanbase ig I'm not too sure of demographic, but the English speaking side tends to focus on how it affects her. Because of the belief that another guilty verdict will cause more harm to her, an innocent verdict is the obvious solution. What I've seen is the greater focus on what caused the murder over the murder itself and the effects of an innocent verdict on others and then her beliefs. A focus on the past over what she's promised to do in the present and future perhaps. Idk.

-Another reason for the difference could. Possibly be how punishment is viewed? Western countries have much more stigma over any form of punishment but in Asian countries it's normal. Now while I'd say physical punishment isn't the way to go, the refusal of punishment shouldn't be rewarded (imo) but that's all I'll say on it.

-The English fanbase also focuses a lot on how young amane is and how her circumstances were terrible and all that. Those around me tend to focus more on her thoughts around the crime, what she believes the crime was for and how in the right she thinks she is. This may also be the cause of the moral grandstanding I see so often (ie. If you vote amane guilty you're a baaad person) (I don't agree with this btw. That's stupid this is fiction don't insult others over an opinion)

What I will say is the English speaking side is more sympathetic towards amane. They (y'all?) Take her situation into a lot of consideration, and focus on her age as a large factor. Whereas those around me and I assume might be close to the views of the japanese fanbase are more objective, looking at what harm she could cause and what's the greater of the two evils, as well as what she's going to do with the verdict (ie. Use the inno verdict as her doctrines are correct and very right).

There's slight thought given to her age and circumstance of course, by it that's not the main concern rn. Given the current situation, most of my milgram voting friends stay certain that an innocent verdict will not end well, hence the guilty vote. I mean I have a couple friends that feel bad for guiltying her because of her circumstance, but do it anyway cuz it's for the better. My opinion is that she should've been innocent trial one, since we wouldn't have known the concequences, but it's too late now and an innocent will cause more harm overall

tldr asian fanbase from experience focus on the crime itself + what they're gonna do with that experience whereas eng speaking fanbase focus on the circumstances surrounding the crime and on judging only the crime

In myyy opinion. Judging only the crime based on your interpretation isn't how the system should be working, it should take into consideration the prisoners' attitudes and how the prisoner perceives the crime as well.

Quick Guide: Using Manga & Light Novels to Learn Kanji

When it comes to language learning, finding new and fun ways to study to keep yourself motivated as you progress is sort of a must. It’s easy to find yourself stagnating as you become more advanced or finding your current methods boring. The idea of using manga as a study tool for kanji or casual language isn’t anything new in the Japanese studying community, but I’ve never actually seen methods being exchanged so I decided to share one I picked up recently to start learning more kanji in a way I found more entertaining than textbooks and typical kanji resources.

any japanese dictionary app w/ handwriting recognition

a pen that can write on your phone or tablet

Manga

When it comes to manga, most if not all kanji found are accompanied by furigana whether it is a character’s name or a verb or any other type of noun. This makes looking up any new kanji you find easy whether it is on. Personally, in the case of manga I will use the dictionary function on TanoshiiJapanese which is a great resource in general. Simply type the hiragana or kanji (and match the kanji you’re searching with the suggested kanji your keyboard generates) and press search. Not only will you be provided onyomi and kunyomi readings, but sample sentences and any and all conjugations a word may have including tense functions, potential form, etc.

Light Novels (& Doujinshi + JPN Fanfic)

Unlike manga, light novels (as well doujin and fanfic made by Japanese fans) rarely contain furigana so using the ‘type and search’ method you can do for manga doesn’t really apply here. I always found it frustrating when this happened to me because knowing what the kanji looks like doesn’t mean anything if you can’t look it up since you don’t know the pronunciation. But when I discovered the benefits of handwriting recognition dictionary apps, it was no longer an issue. Whenever you come across an unknown character, you can write it on the app and it will search it from there. The more clear your handwriting, the better the search will be so getting some sort of tablet/phone writing pen will go a long way. Even something cheap from online will do.

I also recommend the app has a list making function of some sort so you can save the kanji you learn if you prefer keeping your notes and flashcards electronically. Personally, I use Shirabe Jisho as it provides definitions, stroke order, onyomi and kunyomi readings, the JLPT level of the kanji (which may matter to some) and various compounds. Looking up the character 惚 produced several compounds like: 惚れる(ほれる), 見惚れる (みとれる) and 恍惚 (こうこつ).
