Septictober Day 6: implaement

Part of my Missed Messages AU

Marvin shot up in bed, clutching at his chest. Rubbed his eyes time and time again.

It was dark with shadows in his room. Black and gray. But it wasn’t stained red. He remembered his vision was partly red.

Looked down at his leg. Grabbed the spot. It wasn’t tender. Didn’t have a piece of jagged metal stuck deep inside. Could still remember the dark red streaming down from his shin. Didn’t remember how much it hurt.

Felt along his arm. There was no glass on the outside. No tiny pricklers. No large shard he could see (maybe even feel) pulsing with every heartbeat.

And most importantly, he was alone in his room. No Jameson beside him. He could remember something was sticking his brother in the heart. The blood on his shirt. Did he reach out? Was his arm already reaching out when he’d looked? Did it touch him, or was it pinned down? He couldn’t remember. Didn’t want to remember. Didn’t want to see those red, bloody images.

They flashed to his mind whenever he closed his eyes. But never enough to know exactly what happened. The blood. The metal. The glass. The rod. Red. Blood. Metal. Shards. Shrapnel.

Never hurt physically. But could picture all the pain. Felt too scared to move, like he was stuck in the bed. Nothing was keeping him though, checked several times to make sure he wasn’t actually hurt. It was just too real. Never had something impale him before. Didn’t want today to be his first.

Maybe he’d steer clear of driving for a few days.
