The Better Wizard Council

A new, better Wizard Council.

- the unbanning of (non-bear-related) banned spells

- the banning of all bear-related spells

- the lowering of wizard tax rates, eventually leading to removing wizard taxes altogether (clarification that I approve of regular taxes, just not wizard taxes)

Julia, “Reed”, and “Felicia”!

Here’s a quick overview on these fine wizards:

Julia Rainbowfist🌟👁️🌟:

My main and Paragon Conjurer! Julia’s the Savior of the Spiral, Bartleby’s Scion, the Divine Paradox, the whole nine yards! But her powerful titles aside, to most people she comes across, Julia is known to be an abrasive, nosy, know-it-all with a knack for making enemies. To her sister and friends, though, it’s a whole different story! Not that she’d let anyone but them know about it…

“Reed Redthorn”🔥🔥🔥:

Ah yes, my current apprentice Pyromancer and the most nervous wreck you’ve ever seen in your life! Seriously, the poor guy’s probably scared of his own shadow. Maybe it’s because Reed’s terrible at magic? His Firecat won’t listen to him, he keeps fizzling Fireblades, and he didn’t even know what a spell card was when he first enrolled in Ravenwood…To be honest, I’d be terrified too if the little kids outclassed me by a long shot!

“Felicia Fortune”⚡️⚡️⚡️:

She’s my mysterious transcendant Diviner who loves to tinker and cause completely normal amounts of trouble: Felicia! This lady’s quite the handful in Balestrom’s class as she’s a talkative social butterfly who loves to infodump about sparkthrowers. A lot. It’s a little concerning at times, but her classmates just assume it’s because of her having a secondary in Death. Those necromancers sure say some weird stuff at times and Felicia, despite being a Storm, is no exception to it! Fortunately for her though, the occasional off-putting comments are enough to keep prying questions at bay…

And that’s a wrap on this trio! My asks are open to any and all questions and, if their schedules at Ravenwood aren’t too busy, then they’ll answer them!! :3

Hey people who definitely didn’t follow me for my AUs here’s another AU I thought up on the spot!!!

Fantasy/Royalty AU bam lets get into it

Julia and Bowie are the princess and prince of the kingdom, as you do, it’s gay and lesbian hostility in that castle every day

Axel, Wayne, Raj and Emma are knights with Axel being the head of the knights, Emma is also secretly a florist because why not

Priya is the head of the guards while Caleb is the personal guard/advisor to the king

Chase is a travelling bard who loves to talk about his ‘amazing’ adventures of ‘helping’ people

Nichelle is still a famous actress but instead of movies she’s like, famous from plays and all that jazz

Ripper’s a barbarian that’s pretty good at his job, unfortunately he is not taken very seriously

Millie is a famous writer but she’s so damn difficult to find at times and only a few people know where she actually lives

Damien is a wizard’s apprentice, he’s still learning but he’s got some real talent within him

Zee is the court jester, he didn’t even like try out for the role he just started talking one time and the king thought he was hilarious

Scary Girl is a famous necromancer because she is, funnily enough, scarily good at her job

And MK, silly ol’ MK, is a master thief who is wanted all over the world, but can never be located, always managing to escape at the last moment

Alright here’s some more details yippee

Raj and Bowie are like, in love, obviously, knight x prince romance! Forbidden love that isn’t really forbidden but like it’s super cute and Raj is so smitten and Bowie just loves this handsome knight that would do anything for him

Wayne and Emma are friends here because I also think they’re silly, Wayne’s the only one who knows Emma’s secret florist job because she trusts him enough and also he accidentally found out but it’s fine!! But he also nearly gives away Emma’s secret so many damn times because he’s just a little bit stupid

‘Man I wish I could get Bowie a nice bouquet…’

‘Oh well Emma is actually a fl-‘

And then Wayne gets elbowed so hard he can’t breath for 2 minutes

Emma also definitely has a thing for the cute court jester but she has no idea on how to actually approach Zee so she just sends him flowers anonymously and sighs while looking at him lovingly

Julia and MK meet because MK climbs up the damn castle walls at 2am and sneaks into Julia’s room just to rob her, gets absolutely slammed by the princess, wakes up and is tied to a damn chair with Julia right up in her face about to rip her to shreds and all MK can say is ‘you are REALLY attractive oh my gods’

This throws Julia off, they start talking, Julia realises that despite the fact she is holding one of the most wanted criminals hostage in her room, she wants to keep seeing MK because she’s entertaining and mean and just slightly pathetic, so she lets MK go on the promise that the thief will come back every night and so she does and yadda yadda lesbians toxic yuri wins

Millie’s stories actually come to life because shocker she’s actually a wizard in disguise and she needs to be really careful about what she writes so that’s why she hides herself away and is so hard to track down because if the wrong people knew about her magic capabilities oh no that’s a lot of blood and injury and angst and 10k words every chapter

Millie’s parents also had this ability to create anything from mere writing, they shared this ability with the kingdom, and so if an important figure asked them to say…make a protector of the kingdom, they would do so, and they did, and that’s where our villain/antagonist comes in but that’s a story for another day

The older gens are also involved in this one way or another as well, most are just backgrounders but some hold important to the story

Damien is the wizard apprentice to Leonard and Tammy, two great and powerful sages who spend their time helping the world

DJ is the one who taught Emma how to be a florist, he’s kind and understanding and always helps Emma choose the right flowers to give to Zee

Eva trains Ripper under her watchful eye, she’s proud of how far he’s come, but feels he can do just a bit more

Aleheather are the king and queen of the kingdom, Bowie and Julia are their adopted children

And that’s all I got for now uhhhh add whatever you want to this it’s just a silly time

Hello it’s extremely late oops. Did not realize how long this thing would take (28 and a half hours apparently according to procreate lmao) but finally, here it is!

Carmen Week Day 8: La Femme Rouge

Holy crap that was a lot of characters! For day 8 I wanted to draw all the ways I've drawn/imagined Carmen over the last 5 years! There are many I didn't do for one reason or another, but it mainly boiled down to space lol. These 10 (11 including canon Carmen) are (most) of my favorites of my AUs :)

as usual, i'll gladly answer asks about em :) i have plans to write a few for sure, but it's gonna be A While for them lol

Cat:

Both a Warriors AU and also just my "_____ as a cat" style!

This ones a lot less fleshed out so just bear with me lol. (ATM there might only be 2 clans, ACME and VILE, idk yet lol. idk what to name em either cos stickin "clan" on the end don't feel right XD)

In the Warriors AU, Sheeppaw grows up learning 2 contradictory versions of the Warrior Code: The true one from Shadowstalk, and the VILE version from older warriors. She gets made an apprentice a couple moons early, but is relegated only to camp duties until shes 6 moons old.

She trains alongside Cracklepaw, Tigerpaw, Molepaw, Goatpaw, and Silentpaw. At her first gathering she meets another apprentice, maybe a few moons older, from the other clan: Jewelpaw. The two hit it off and become good friends (and develop little mutual crushes). Sheeppaw also sneaks out and meets a kittypet: Player, who she also becomes very good friends with.

When her mentor, the deputy, Shadowstalk fails her on her final warrior assessment she pretty much has most of the same reaction as the show, just in the WC style.

After witnessing a murder, she hightails it out of there and encounters the newly named Crackletail. Panicked, she hastily and vaguely tells him she saw something and needs to Leave.

She makes it to Players yard and lays low for a while, and he introduces her to the neighbor cats, a sibling pair named Zack and Ivy. The four brainstorm and Sheeppaw is renamed Carmen. They know they cant let VILE keep doing what they're doing. So rogue Carmen and her kittypet friends start figuring things out from behind the scenes.

Pirate Cat:

Exactly as it says, bipedal cat world. Black Sheep was dropped off at a random orphanage in England, with a small stuffed black sheep (where she got her name). Since everybody are cats, Black Sheep isn't that atypical of a name. Sorta a mix of normal people names and cat names.

She grows up there alongside her self-appointed older brother Graham. When she's about 10-11ish she meets the princess: Julia Argent. Childhood friends to lovers letsgoo (its a recurring theme in these lol. its cute i like it).

The two eventually get together (in secret, yay homophobia and also societal status) It doesn't help that Black Sheep had a habit of getting in trouble so she could see the princess her princess.

The two get caught one night, and Black Sheep is nearly executed for "corrupting royalty", but Julia manages to talk her father down from that. Instead, she is exiled. If she ever sets foot in the kingdom after dawn, she WILL be killed this time.

Julia visits one last time, and Black Sheep promises to return someday when she finds somewhere where they can be together freely. She gives Julia her stuffed sheep to look after while she's gone, and asks her to take care of Fuega while she's gone (on one of their sneak-outs, they found a baby dragon that Julia managed to convince her dad to let her keep). Julia gives her the triangle choker. yay tearful goodbyes ;-;

Black Sheep and Graham (because no way is he letting his little sister go into exile without him) go from place to place, stealing when they need to and end up accidentally stowing away on a VILE pirate ship.

VILE pirate training to avoid death, they escape. Graham appoints the newly named Carmen Sandiego captain of their little ship, and they also pick up Zack, Ivy, and Player along the way. Carmen becomes very well known around the globe: civilians/lower class people see her as a Robin Hood hero (correct), while most royals and nobles see her as nothing but a filthy pirate (incorrect).

A few years go by when suddenly the crew gets word that the King of England is trying to marry off his daughter, who has recently come of age. Cue panicked race home + childhood lover reunion.

Daughter of Poseidon (Carmen Sandiego and the Olympians):

Percy Jackson AU! Replace Percy with Carmen, Grover with Player, Annabeth with Julia, and switch/move around some plot points and that's about it lol. I keep telling myself I'll do some scene rewrites of this one so we'll see. Includes PJO and HOO acting as prequels for Carmen Sandiego. Def wanna do dome rewrites for the canon show for this AU too lol

Dino Squad:

I'm out here combining one obscure kids show with another lol. If you haven't seen it, Dino Squad is this early 2000s animated show about these 5 teenagers that get mutated and can turn into dinosaurs, and go around stopping the bad guy from turning everything into dinosaurs. (I think the entire series may be on youtube lol. its goofy but man i loved it as a kid. i wanted dino powers so bad)

This is basically a high school au but most of Team Red has dinosaur powers. :P

In this, Dr. Bellum is experimenting with bringing dinosaurs back, but instead of just cloning them, she figures out how to mutate already-existing organisms into others.

(in the OG dino squad, the bad guy IS a dinosaur that evolved into a human--long story--and believes everything should still be dinosaurs. hes technically right, tbf, if the meteor hadn't hit they prolly still WOULD be dinosaurs. why does bellum want dinosaurs? because she's Bellum and she Can lol)

Carmen Wolfe and her twin brother Graham (they're fraternal twins. why? bc i thought it would be funny. yes he still has his accent. its my world i do what i want) are raised by Carlotta and Dexter Wolfe in Kittery Point, Maine. Carlotta is a paleontologist/biologist and Dexter is a history and geography teacher at the high school. They do know of VILE and what Bellum was working on and have been monitoring it in secret from the kids.

Carmen and Julia are those friends that met bc they were both hiding under the slide in like. Preschool and just stayed friends lol. They're the kind of best friends that will just. Show Up. usually Julia at Carmen's house because "You have better snacks" also Julia's parents just Don't Like Carmen. (Why? idk bc i said so. idk they think she's a bad influence. she's really not lol) Literally Julia has like a spot on the couch and a table setting. She's basically the third twin these three have known each other essentially their entire lives.

Zack and Ivy joined the group in middle school, when Ivy had the same class as Carmen, Julia, and Gray. Zack joined via association. (Zack and Ivy, on the other hand are not twins. again. bc its funny. each sibling pair thought the other was like them. zack and ivy thought Carmen and Gray were just normal siblings, and Carmen and Gray thought Zack and Ivy were twins. Julia had to explain to all of them it was not the case lol)

Player is Carmen's online friend that the whole group includes. they all game together and he gets ALL the public school tea. hes about the same age as Zack, so about a year-ish younger than Carmen, Gray, Ivy, and Julia.

At the end of their freshman year, Carmen and Julia start dating. Their friends and Carmen's parents know, they keep it secret from everyone else. At the end of the summer everybody (aside from Player) go to the beach for one last day of freedom before school starts. They swim through the mutant goo, and over the next few days discover their powers.

Carlotta IDs each dino: Carmen is a (large/person sized) pyroraptor, Gray is a T. rex, Julia is a troodon, and I still cant decide on Zack and Ivy's dino forms lol. Carlotta and Dexter explain the whole VILE thing and the group just kinda simultaneously goes "welp guess we're superheroes now. cool"

so yea dealing w highschool and also mutant dinosaurs and superpowers. this ones fun bc they can just be stupid kids lol

The Last Wolf:

My werewolf AU. The one that started all this mess and my love for making AUs of this show. It was my first fanfic i ever wrote, and it is very near to my heart. it's also gotten out of hand and become a franchise at this point it's ridiculous. (Seriously i've got a prequel of her parents planned and also a series of shorts set in the universe) It's gonna be a long ride, boys. Hope people still like CS by the time it's done lol

A Thief's Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse:

Zombie apocalypse AU! Talked about this one a bit for AU day, and also as of this post I have ~1k words written of the first chapter! I also have a bunch of the major plot points outlined too ;) I wouldn't expect anything soon tho lol.

She wears a wetsuit under the coat bc it's really hard to bite through, especially with rotten jaws. She's got some boots she probably scavenged or traded for, and of course: the Walkman she probably found looting some abandoned building. She collects cassettes to listen to. Gotta keep sane in the end of the world.

How is this one a literal apocalypse and its still more lighthearted than the one based on FNAF lol

Redd Wolf (Five Nights at Redd's):

FNAF AU. I've truly lost it lol. I have this one completely outlined, nothing written but a lot of things are VERY clear in my mind. This ones uh. a lot more intense than even Thief's Guide. It's FNAF. its immense violence and child death. Seriously, Carmen, Player, Gray, Ivy, Zack, and Julia all end up possessing animatronics at some point. It ends happily, but it is based off a horror thing so if that's not your thing b careful <3

its supposed to be more of a mystery that gets unraveled, but if anyone wants specifics of it u can drop an ask :) i only have animatronic designs for Carmen, Julia, and Gray so far tho. I have ideas for the others too.

This is one I wanna share with y'all at some point. its probably the shortest of the AUs I have outlined so far, so yk. maybe in this lifetime lol.

Carmen and the Age of Wonderbeasts:

Mega Jaguar Carmen. This ones more of a ~vibe~ than an actual plot but i like drawing mega jag carm :)

Plushie Dragon:

This one's not an AU, but actually based on doodles of these 2 plush dragons! Matching red/gold and blue/silver dragons named after carmen and julia lol. I'll get around to posting more drawings of em cause they're cute

Wings of Fire:

Wings of Fire AU! Carmen is a rainwing/skywing hybrid (rainwing dad, skywing mom) She can camoflauge, fly decently fast, and has a prehensile tail. She can't breathe fire or use typical venom, BUT she figures out her venom, while not face-melting by itself, IS in fact flammable. again, more of a ~vibe~ than a story and plot, but I like drawing dragons.

Canon Carmen:

She's front and center, the one that started all this.

Way back in 2019, the autism and ADHD departments in my brain came to an agreement: This show is the greatest show of all time.

It was the first fandom I actively contributed to/interacted with. (I still read fics from other fandoms before, but had never been active in a fandom) Like I mentioned with Last Wolf, I had never actually written fanfiction before, and definitely never posted it. I love writing and telling stories (and boy howdy do I have A Lot of stories rolling around my brain). between all of the AUs ive come up with, I've gotten to practice so much worldbuilding and characterization. English classes usually focused on expository stuff, with like. a brief fiction writing thing. So I've definitely gotten to stretch my creative writing muscles with this show, and hopefully I can put em to use on original projects someday <3

I fell in love with the first season, and got ridiculously excited for every new season and the interactive. (heck, i played every possible option for the interactive the day it came out, and binged every subsequent season the day they aired.)

This show has been a big part of my life the last five years, and the original show will always be special to me. It's the reason I started learning to draw people lol, I have a drawing of Carmen from 2020 that I'm still really proud of. It's hung on my bedroom wall to this day.

They landed a job as an exterminator, becoming very efficient, and were eventually sent on a job up north that no one else wanted to take. Unfortunately, a freak earthquake occurred, and Mortis was trapped, left behind, and died. Their soul was so full of rage and betrayal that their ghost possessed their now dead body, and went on a search for closure.

X bonds to it so much that it eventually ends up granting it sentience on accident, being then forced to wrestle with the idea that she used her reality-warping powers selfishly. Living in a false reality messes with it, and x eventually learns that she's the arbiter of her own destiny and it's okay to want things.

Gabby Trinh (she/her) is gaslight gatekeep girlboss but with a strawberry banana flavor. She starts off like a typical Pokémon rival, but over the course of the story she gradually learns about the Power of Friendship with the protagonist. She's very goal-oriented and is always smiling and is often in a sort of silly-mean mood— she's just teasing, but often doesn't recognize when people are actually uncomfortable. She also has a bad habit of twisting people's words to fit what she thinks.

She has a major case of imposter syndrome due to the fact that nobody likes her music, they only like her when she's piggybacking off of others' success.

I went spooky for this one, hope that's okay

▪️House Of Black Ink and Piercing is a weird place. Appointments can only be made if you're really willing to give something away to get something in return. Otherwise, you get an irate lady called Brandi cursing you out for prank calling her dry cleaners. Physically it's either the easiest place in the world to find or so impossible it may as well not exist - it all depends on you.

▪️Malakai Black has awards for his work, tattoos that heal like no others, keep detailing long after the ink should have settled into something softer, black and grey with more impact than even the most accomplished colour tattoos. Skill other tattooers would sell a lot to be able to replicate. He does custom work - it's not what was asked for but no one ever leaves unhappy with their new adornment. People asked afterwards say they can barely remember the process - no recollection of pain and even less in memories. They put it down to endorphins. No one talks about the dreams.

▪️Brody works the desk. He looks intimidating but somehow no clients ever feel intimidated. There's simply a sense of warmth and gravity. He handles all the paperwork. You definitely sign before you sit but if you go looking, your copies are misplaced. You remember the red ink though.

▪️Buddy handles piercings. He says little but his hands are sure and his shadow is all encompassing. If you leave his chair feeling a little lighter in a way you can't quite pinpoint, almost like a butterfly pinned to a board, well you signed on the dotted line. And you never leave behind more than you offered.

▪️Julia's tattoos are rare, all the more beautiful for it. There are photos of her online, tattoo boards make fun of her transformation, one tattoo and a cheerleader becomes a goth, but no one will say it to her face. Her art is different to Malakai's, sweeping colourful things that almost seem to change as you look at them. She's very well regarded but, if you ask, she'll call herself an apprentice and her smile makes you flinch.

LUPIN III - THE FOURTH

Aka "Lupin's extended family bullies him live on TV"

Y'all remember Maki from Blood Seal - Eternal Mermaid?

☝️ This awesome kiddo who spent half of the movie harassing Lupin into taking her as an apprentice? And who was actually quite good at thieving, good enough that she managed to get to Lupin's target by her own means?

I think she should become Lupin IV.

...And I might have gotten a bit carried away.

Yes they all call themselves Lupin IV. Yes there is an explanation to that. The explanation is to bully Lupin.

Maki: master thief, and leader of the Gang. The actual official Lupin IV as far as the Lupin succession line is concerned. Outgoing and bubbly, a determination that can break though walls. (Blood Seal - Eternal Mermaid)

Ami: tech expert and hacker. Likes to pretend she has no feelings. (Part 5)

Julia: social engineer/people person. Very strong personality and very confident. (Farewell to Nostradamus)

Kenny: gunman. Very loyal, inherited Jigen's "knight in shining armour" complex. (Part 6)

Murasaki: medic. Too tired for this bullshit but is actually having fun. A ray of sunshine. (The Fuma Conspiracy)

Long story short:

Growing up Maki never stops wanting to become a thief. By the time she's an adult, she's actually gotten quite good at it.

One day she runs by chance into Ami, and learns about how much Lupin changed her life. And how many other children - now adults their age - he impacted as well.

Maki sets out to find as many of them as she can, and founds her own thieving gang.

But Maki doesn't only have skills like Lupin's, she also has his knack for causing problems. So once she's assembled her team of "Kids Lupin Left Behind And Who Also Like Causing Problems", she goes out to find Rebecca Rosselini, aka Lupin's almost-but-not-exactly-divorced-wife (Part 4).

"Rebecca," she says, "do you mayhaps want to annoy the heck out of Lupin for funsies?"

"Boy do I!" replies Rebecca. "What do you need from me?"

"Oh nothing much," says Maki. "Just a little signature on these four adoption forms."

And thus Maki, Ami, Julia and Kenny legally acquire the last name Lupin. And all officially declare themselves Lupin the Fourth.

Lupin is fuming, Zenigata is having a stroke, the rest of the LupGang are laughing their asses off.

Murasaki is there too because these kids need a responsible adult.

WARRIOR CATS X CARMEN SANDIEGO PART 2; THE ELECTRIC MEOWGALOO

As stated from my part one of my carmen designs, i'd draw more of the guys. Although in my waca developments page (i think it was) i stated i would draw the faculty. The faculty will not be drawn due to how it clashes with the lore. First up: WOEICS IVY.

As you can tell, I reverted back to an old brush. So all these designs will be a bit different. Ivy is the only lined one, the rest are lineless. I didnt know much to do with ivy. I made her pretty dark of an orange to compliment her moody personality. She's got fire like qualities, which I think help with her sarcastic and brash qualities, other than that theres not much else. Ivy is involved with Acme's official clan, ACMEclan. None of that group mumbojumbo, an actual clan.

NEXT UP: NETFLIX IVY

The netflix designs as you see will be a husk. Ivy is a ginger kittypet, thats mostly it. I made her a tabby in hopes to convey the more lazier roles they take on. And I made them kitty pets to help further show that. Ivy is with team red's warriorclan-like clan in which she follows Netflix carmen around after being banished from Vile.

THIRD UP: WOEICS ZACK.

Woeics zack I had fun with. He has similar yet unique enough markings to ivy that they look like siblings, but dont copy off eachother. Zack's wheat like color makes me very happy to see. Zack resides in ACME clan with his sister. I like to think he's more around the territory than being cooped up in camp. He constantly stalks around vile borders and tries to pick fights with them.

FOURTH UP: NETFLIX ZACK.

U. G. H. i genuionely cant express enough HOW BORING zack is in contrast to his sister. As you can tell i rushed zack. He's one of my favorites in the series but oh my god, is his design bland. I dont have much ideas for Zack in relation to Team red. He snacks more often and is more keen to his kittypet nest than wanting to go on heists with carmen in their warrior clan.

FINALLY: JULIA ARGENT

Julia argent to me is very simple. She's not too complex or crazy, she's just a sleek, black cat to me with big eyes that look at you helplessly.

I think Julia spends her time in ACMEclan under being an apprentice by choice. Shes as old as TOK, a warrior, but I like to think she wants to really nail the ACMEclan lifestyle.

Elsie was an apprentice in the school of disciplinary arts. It initially came as a surprise to her that the city yielded a fairly steady stream of volunteers for the students to practice on---office workers, students, shopgirls, artists, mothers, wives.

Only their first names were given, and the nature of the infraction they felt the need of punishment for. Some had been sent by concerned mothers or husbands. Some had done nothing wrong; they just felt a deep guilt or need, a natural stirring toward contrition. Others were more mysterious about their reasons for coming. All accepted that they would be well and truly punished.

Gradually, as the weeks went by and she gained experience under the guidance of her mentor Julia, Elsie learned to assess each woman and her need for severity by tone of voice, her figure, how she carried herself, how she dressed, how she responded to questions and commands. Each required a slightly different approach, a different level of firmness and scolding, haughtiness or gentleness of voice and stance, a different tempo.

Elsie soon found she had a talent and a passion for giving the volunteers what they came for. Her instructors praised her even as they held her to a higher, more exacting standard. More than once, her mentor Julia demonstrated on Elsie herself a particular technique and approach to conducting a full disciplinary session from start to finish. Elsie was well aware that she was not above weeping and even pleading herself, and it kept her honest in her practice.

Over time, Elsie became known for her quietly decisive style. She dressed with a simple and beguiling clarity of line and color that suited her perfectly. She was not intimidated by beauty, accomplishments, wealth, pride: in fact, in her initial conversation with a volunteer, she often made subtle but incisive observations about the young woman's manner that illuminated her secret contradictions and caused a blush of shameful recognition. She liked the ones who blushed, and she had a way of stimulating the complex inner experience of breath-quickening fear and naughtiness or shame in her subjects by stripping (with quick, precise hands) the underwear that served as their final symbolic shred of modesty and protection.

And then there was her nuanced understanding of the different disciplinary properties and associations of hand, hairbrush, switch, strap, belt, birch, and cane. And whip, yes, if needed. Her ability to elicit cleansing tears was remarkable.

And of course her beauty and grace were sure to be remembered and even cherished as part of the after-aura of the painful experience.

On his word to all the Gods and Goddesses that have ever, and will ever, exist, Magnus knew that this was not the Raven's Roost he grew up in. It's built on the same naturally formed columns, miles above the sea, but still close enough to hear the waves crashing against the cliffside at night. The bridges are made of the same wood, they're rusty in the same places. The buildings are designed the same, and the friendliness of the entire town was so aching familiar but this was not his Raven's Roost.

He knew he grew up here. But he couldn't find the initials he and his mom carved into one of the bridge posts. He could search and search, but he'd never find the same road that led him toward his first fight or the street his stepmom used to live on before she became his stepmom. The builds were in different places. He could have sworn that more of Raven's Roost used to be on the cliff, instead of on the columns, but every time he brought it up, he'd get weird looks for it.

The town was kind, so, so kind, but it wasn't his town. They humored him, and played along like he had lived here his entire life, but the name of their school was not the one Magnus remembered going to. Hell, Raven's Roost hadn't even had a school. His mom had to take him up to the next town over five times a week and they'd pick flowers on the way.

Tonight, he was sitting on the back doorstep of Hammer and Tongs. He lived upstairs, technically, with Julia and Steven. Typically, he'd sit on the front step, but the curfews Kalen had imposed had quickly cut. Typically, he'd be near his childhood home, close enough to smell what ma was cooking if she opened the window and the breeze was just right. Typically, there were a lot of things that didn't happen anymore and as much as Magnus would like to blame it all on Kalen, he knew that wasn't the case.

The backdoor squeaked open and Steven poked his head out. He gestured for Magnus to come back inside. Magnus glanced over the yard one last time- his mom used to have a flamingo with a sunhat in her yard- and stood to come in. When he did, Steven shut the door behind him. He was carrying a candlestick in a bronze holder, and the flame flickered a bit when he spoke,

"You ought to be coming in sooner, Mags," he said. He peeked out the back window like someone might have seen him opening the door. "They've started sending patrols out at night."

"Which is stupid," Magnus said.

"Which is stupid," Steven agreed, getting away from the window. "But I can't risk losing my favorite apprentice, now can I?"

"Oh, so I'm only favorite when Julia isn't around?" Magnus asked and Steven grinned, beckoning him to the sitting room.

"I'm a father first, mentor-slash-boss second," Steven said. He set the candle on the coffee table that he and Magnus had finished last week and sat down. Magnus sat, too, and twiddled with his thumbs. He strained his ears for a second, listening. A silence passed.

"Julia not here?" he asked.

"You know how she is," Steven said quietly. "I know you're not on the best of terms-" Magnus snorted. He sure had some feelings about Julia and he was sure she had some about him. Still, going out at night with Kalen's men around every corner? He might not like he, but he knew she wasn't stupid. He just didn't know what game she was playing yet. "-but she's got... a lot on her plate right now. I'm not plannin' on mentioning it to anyone if you won't."

He gave Magnus a look of just try to disagree. Magnus mimed zipping his lips shut.

"Cross my heart," he said.

"Good," Steven said. He leaned forward to pick a catalog off the coffee table, flipping it open to a random page. Magnus sat back and shut his eyes. Another silence descended upon them, leaving a thick feeling around Magnus's temples. He always had lots he wanted to say- hell, he was keeping track of like, three separate conversations in his head right now. So when he opened his mouth, what he meant to say was "did we ever get that shipment of maple wood?". What he said instead was,

"There was a flower shop." Magnus opened his eyes and found Steven's eyebrows raised.

"Was there?"

"Yes," Magnus said. "It was right past Grocery Nest when you turned left at the next crossroads. It was kinda like how this place is set up but a lot smaller. Lots of big bushes in the front, a beautiful little garden in the back. It always smelled like lavender inside because it was infused with all the cleaning supplies. Does that- do you remember that?"

Steven seemed to pause and think it over. He looked away, folding his catalog up, and said,

"Can't say I do."

"Burnsides' Bouquets," Magnus said. "My mom ran it."

"Ah," Steven said. "And it's not..."

"It's not here anymore," Magnus said, with a tremor he didn't mean to let slip into his voice. He cleared his throat. "And I walk past it almost every day now, just in case I might be missing it but- it's just not there. That's- it's gotta be there, right? I can't be- there's gotta be someone else who remembers it. Right?"

"Magnus," Steven said with a heavy sign. "I... I'm not gonna lie to you, son, I don't remember."

"I know it was there," Magnus said. "I lived there for eighteen years, I know where it is, I know the house layout like the back of my hand. And if you can't remember the business then I can't-"

He stopped, squeezing his eyes shut. The headache around his temples flared and throbbed. The couch squeaked and suddenly, Steven was holding onto Magnus's hand. When he squinted his eyes open once more, he found Steven kneeling in front of him.

Magnus had a lot he wanted to say. He always did. He meant to say, sorry. Meant to say, I didn't mean to concern you. Meant to say, just forget about it. What he said instead was,

"If you can't remember the business, am I the only one who remembers my moms?"

"I wanna tell you something, Magnus," Steven said, squeezing his hand. "And I imagine it's not gonna be an easy thing to hear. But when you, uh, when you got here a few months ago, there was a lady with you."

"What'd'you mean?" Magnus said. "I'm- I mean, I've lived here my whole life."

"That's what part of you thinks," Steven said. "Though I know there's that other part that has questions." Magnus bit his lip, trying not to feel a flush of shame. It was one thing to question your memory in your head- it was a whole 'nother to hear someone actually voice it.

"The lady?" Magnus asked.

"Right," Steven said. "Well, she brought you to us- to me, specifically, I mean. Told us you had been in a bad accident and suffered from some, uh, some memory loss. To put it lightly."

"I wasn't in an accident," Magnus said. "I've lived in Raven's Roost my whole life-"

"She said," Steven continued, his voice wavering a little. "That the accident had been part of what destroyed your old home. Not- not directly linked, I don't think? But a real domino effect. And that while that old place is- is gone now, Raven's Roost was probably the closest bet you would have to feel like your at home-"

"I was born here," Magnus said. "I went to school up in Bluefield-" Steven started shaking his head, but Magnus pressed on. "I lived here with my ma and my stepmom for twenty-one years until I left for- for- gods, I can't fucking remember. It was a thing! And it was important, I know it was important, I just can't- I can't..."

This was not his Raven's Roost. He knew that. And yet- and yet-

"Magnus," Steven said. "You are twenty-two years old and yesterday I saw you go in the completely wrong direction to get to the butcher." Magnus bit his tongue. "And when I sent to fetch you something from the library, you went onto the cliff face instead of to the northwest pillar-"

"I know," Magnus breathed. He let go of Steven's hand to wipe away tears. "I know, Steven, I get it."

"I'm sorry, Mags," Steven said. "I really am."

"My- my moms?"

"I'm here," Steven said, pulling Magnus into a strong embrace. His aftershave smelt of lavender. "I can't promise it'll stop hurting soon, son, but I'm here. I'm not gonna let you face it alone."

Magnus buried his face into Steven's shoulder and cried.

Every second with you I want another but maybe we can hold off one sec so we can keep this tension in check. But there's no way that it's not going there with the way that we're looking at each other. We just keep on dancing right into each other.♡]

Sakura thought she was in love. "Thinking" being the keyword. Because really, what is love? Why does she feel her cheeks get warm every time she meets his onyx gaze? Why does she feel like she has butterflies in her stomach every time she hears his voice? She feels slightly nervous and yet this idiot claims she wasn't in love with him. It doesn't make sense! What does he mean by “you think you love me, but you don't, trust me. You just feel safe with me. It's not the same.” Is he dumb or what? Isn't she supposed to feel safe with the man she loves? And yet, right now, he was looking at her sympathetically, telling her again that she was making a mistake about the nature of her feelings. She snorted at that.

“What do you mean? I tell you I have feelings for you and you tell me I don't?”

“Yes, that's what I'm saying.”

“You idiot! You can't tell a girl how she feels!”

“Sakura...” he started gently, but was cut off by the woman, who puffed her cheeks and pouted :

“Don't Sakura me ! What the hell is wrong with you!? I'm pretty, I'm not stupid, I'm strong and we get along very well and besides we've known each other for a while now! So what's wrong?”

The man stared at her, slightly uncomfortable. God. How was he going to get out of this? He cleared his throat, quickly glancing over his shoulder, feeling a pair of eyes on his back.

“It's that... Okay, I'll tell you! Actually, I'm gay.”

“Weren't you the one kissing a girl like two weeks ago in front of Yakiniku Q?” She asked dryly.

“I'm pretty sure it was a doppelgänger.”

Sakura sighed. Not sure if she should feel offended or just sad about the obvious rejection.

“If you don't share my feelings, just say so, but don't make up lies to avoid hurting my feelings. And even if you are indeed gay, I'd like to think that we're close enough that you can tell me about it knowing that I would have supported you 200%.”

His shoulders slumped slightly. Ashamed of himself. She was right of course, but he knew better. That's why he was doing this.

“Sakura...”

“It's fine. Forget it, Shisui. I knew this was a bad idea.”

She turned to leave, determined to vent her frustration and disappointment on a training ground but was stopped by the Uchiha's hand holding her back for a moment.

“Hold on ! I'm sorry. It's just... Sakura, really, you don't love me. Not really. Not like that. I'm not the Uchiha you want.”

The Kunoichi felt the anger rising. She pulled away from his grip, glaring at him.

“If this is about Sasuke, I don't love him. I didn't love him before, or now, or ever. Goddammit! That guy is like my brother in the same way Naruto or Sai is! I saw him naked, Shisui. NAKED and I wasn't even affected. I mean, sure, Sasuke is a nice man to look at, but I also like looking at paintings but that doesn't mean I want to rub myself against them!”

Shisui flinched slightly. He would rather not be the target of the fifth Hokage's apprentice anger. He saw what her fists could do when she punch the ground. He raised his hands to soothe her, which seemed to irritate her further. Huh. Note to self; never tell a woman to calm down, even nonverbally.

“Actually, it wasn't him I was referring to but someone similar.”

“ I don't get it.”

“Sakura, aside from Sasuke and I who you talk to regularly in the Uchiha clan?”

The girl crossed her arms, leaning on one of her hips, one hand under her chin, trying to remember her past interactions.

“Um well, I've been in contact with quite a few of them. Whether it's on missions or to heal them or even just to chit-chat. Your clan is pretty big, Shi.”

“Really, Sakura? Who do I hang out with all the time?”

There was a short silence, then, “Oh.”

“Yeah, ‘oh.’ Seriously, Sakura. What’s Itachi going to think of this?”

Her cheeks turned a pretty pink and just at the mention of the man, she felt that strange feeling in her heart again.... Wait. So far she wasn't quite feeling it? In fact, now that she thought about it, she felt it mostly when she was with Shisui AND Itachi. What the hell does that mean?

Seeing the expression she was making, Shisui knew right away that she just understood something important. And that's exactly what he wanted.

“See what I mean now?”

“But ever since you saved me on that mission to the village hidden in the rain, I've...”

Shisui smiled fondly at her and gently placed his hand on her shoulder.

“Sakura, on that mission you had many injuries and your Chakra pathways were poisoned. It's not surprising that you have altered memories of it."

Confusion could be clearly seen on the kunoichi's face.

“What do you mean...?”

He shook his head.

“ Itachi was the one who brought you back to the village that day, not me.”

“What...? No, that's impossible. When I woke up in the hospital, you were the first one I saw.”

“That's because I had just kicked Tachi out of the room. He's been looking after you for days and frankly he needed to go home and rest.” he wrinkled his nose “and take a shower.”

“He stayed at my bedside?”

Shisui nodded and Sakura felt a lump form in her throat. She was more confused than ever. Sure, when she was younger she had had a huge crush on her teammate's older brother, but as she grew older she had chalked it up to a childish infatuation.

Flashbacks replayed in her mind and it was as if all the pieces of the puzzle were being put together before her eyes. The moments when Itachi had been present, the discreet smiles, the glances she sometimes felt, the encouragement of the Uchiha or his particular way of pushing her further. The way her palms would get sweaty and how her heart would stutter when she thought she saw him in the village. Her fear when he had returned from an ANBU mission badly injured. All those times when her heart raced for Shisui, Itachi was also there.

But how could she be so wrong? She looked up with emerald eyes at the older Uchiha. They had similarities, it’s true. And maybe subconsciously, Sakura had transferred what she was feeling onto Shisui because he seemed more open than his cousin, more expressive. Openly affectionate unlike Itachi. It was probably easier than admitting that she liked the heir of the Uchiha clan. A respected and feared man whose exploits spanned the five great nations. She was always a little intimidated by him. Just as she admired him. His presence, his charisma, his intelligence, his selflessness, his strength, his philosophy of life, his beauty too. His deep desire for peace and his unconditional love for his little brother or his devotion to the village. All this made Itachi an exceptional being.

It’s not surprising that she preferred not to have any illusions. Not that Shisui is any less impressive. He’s an exceptional Shinobi. Redoubtable even. She had seen him in action, knew what he was capable of, but Shisui is Shisui. She felt safe with him. With Itachi, it was different... She felt at home, strangely enough. Like a sense of belonging, like she was meant to be by his side. She knows she can trust Itachi with her life, and she does. The feeling was just different: stronger. Softer. She realized that now.

Sakura felt like she’d been slapped in the face. The tears tingle the corners of her eyes and at the sight Shisui became slightly alarmed.

“Sweetheart, no. Don't cry! I'm sorry! I didn't mean to hurt you. Oh fuck, Itachi is going to kill me. Sakura, hey, it's okay, I swear.”

She let out a shaky laugh, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. She shook her head, reassuring her friend.

“Sorry. I just feel stupid and a bit overwhelmed. I thought it was you who was causing me all these feelings, but every time I felt like this, it was always more intense if Itachi was with us."

“Well, I'm handsome ! I make a good catch. There's a lot to fall in love with, but if you really did, Itachi probably would have murdered me for good.”

“What's that supposed to mean?”

She frowned.

“He too has noticed the change in your behavior towards me, and sensing his killing intent even when I'm comfortably wrapped up under my blanket at 2am isn't the most thrilling feeling in the world.”

Sakura shook her head, bemused.

“Why would Itachi care about my feelings for you?”

Shisui gave her a flat look. As if to say “really now?” She frowned again, then huffed.

“Don't give me that look, it was a good question. Anyway, what do I do now? He's going to hate me! There's no way he'll give me a chance if he thinks I love you! HELL even I thought I was in love with you. Why didn't you ever say anything?!”

Shisui raised his hands.

“Oi! I tried! For months! I was steering you towards him, but nothing!”

“Is that why you were inviting Itachi over every time I tried to set up dates with you at the tea house to eat pastries?”

The older Uchiha's mischievous smile was his only response. Ugh. She remembered now that every time she had tried to ask him on a date he always included his cousin. Every.damn.time. It should have clicked! What an idiot.

“Ugh. I feel so stupid. I have to talk to him. I feel guilty.”

"You shouldn't. Sakura, it's okay. Sometimes you believe things and then you realize it's not that at all. Actually, I'm kind of relieved that you finally opened your eyes. I was starting to have trouble dealing with Itachi and was running out of hiding places.”

At this, the young woman laughed. She could imagine Shisui running from rooftop to rooftop to find the best place to escape from one of the ANBU's top captains. Suddenly, something clicked in her head and her eyes widened comically.

“Wait. Why...why are you talking as if Itachi feels the same way? I just realized that you were insinuating that the idea of me loving you was bothering him… but, it's not possible? Is it?”

Shisui smiled at her, his gaze softening. He placed his large palm on her head like a big brother would.

“Sweetheart, Itachi has loved you for a while now. I would even say that the two of you go way back. You just took different roads at times, but in the end, you ended up on the same path. It just took time and courage to admit reality."

She was speechless. Her fist rested against her heart, tightening the fabric of her shirt under her fingers. The thought of Itachi sharing her feelings made her heart beat a mile a minute.

“He scared off some kids who used to pick on me when I was younger. He activated his sharingan and those little bullies ran away as fast as they came.” She reminisced fondly.

Shisui chuckled, though you could tell he was proud to hear it.

“Oh. So you're the kid who gave him dangos the next week to thank him for scaring the ugly meanies away.”

She blushed and looked away. Refusing to confirm but not denying either.

“Whatever. I need to find him and talk to him.”

“That won't be necessary.”

Sakura arched an eyebrow and Shisui shrugged with a sly smile on his lips and his eyes shining with mischief. She didn't even have time to blink as the Uchiha pulled a kunai out of the holster on his leg and threw it behind him expertly before it was countered by another kunai. The sound of clashing weapons echoed before a figure emerged from the shadows.

Here stood Uchiha Itachi. Not the least bit bothered or embarrassed to have been caught spying. If anything, he seemed perfectly at ease. His onyx eyes stared straight at Sakura. She swallowed. Hard.

Well shit. She's in love. This time, she doesn't just think it. She knows it. And judging by the fiery look and emotions dancing behind his dark eyes, it was completely mutual.

Damn. Itachi fucking Uchiha loved her back. Ow. The night looked promising. Very promising, but they could go to dinner. Yeah, eat first, then she'll devour him, or he will... Eventually.

She felt like the world around them was disappearing as he walked towards her. And she knew at that very moment that this was what it meant to feel truly safe, to feel at home.

I may (or may not) write a part 2 to this in the future. Maybe something from Itachi's point of view, how he dealt with it, or some details I may have left out on purpose. We'll see. I'll think about it if I ever create a part 2.🖤
