julie version of kai comes across as stupid because she views him so superficially his original writers should have stayed as his writers

The moment her and her gremlin friends saw he wasn't in the prison world with Bonnie she probably screamed hallelujah. She would've wrote him like she wrote Damon and Niklaus, then possibly mix it with the sloppiness of Beremy's writing. Probably, no not even probably, she deadass would've pull out some rando ass ex fiancee (she'd be white because Julie can't relate to women of color) and have Kai magically still hold a torch for her. Then when she dies in his arms and he's broken up over her Bonnie will finally see him in a new light. He'll finally be 'boyfriend material' now that he had a white girl first.

I just pissed myself off writing that. 😒

Anyway like you said she should've stuck with the original writers.

The loss of Bonkai still hurts years later. :(

It’s sad how one woman (plec) can destroy potential like that. And waste Chris and Kat’s chemistry. And basically give their gemini/bennett storyline to the boring ass legacies characters.

I agree with you. Season 6-8 would have been epic if Plec, the writers and the executive producers were smart. They knew Nina was leaving the show, which was going to leave a hole in the series. Season Six was the perfect time to create something new and exciting for the series to hold up without Elena/Stelena/Delena. However, they fucked it up, I think if the show kept Kai, included the Gemini Witch plot, kept Jo or at least Liv, added more witches, bring back Lucy Bennett, and created a bigger witch storyline in season 7 not the heretic bs, the show would have been more successful after the loss of Nina. Chris and Kat chemistry could have helped the show maintain its audience. Thing about it was Chris Wood had not just great chemistry with Kat, but also Ian. The Damon, Kai, and Bonnie dynamic was on point, even the little bit that we got in season 8, showed that those three could have carried the show.

Plec hated any little attention Kat Graham got and derailed the show due to her own jealousy and her racism.
