AU IDEA!!!

Beach town au:

Basically, just the Encanto but with a tropical beach (maybe somewhat of an Island?) attached to it. Also, the environment is very calming and relaxing.

In other words, this AU is just hippie Madrigals with a beach aesthetic. Everybody is super chill and just ✨vibing✨. No pressure, no unreachable expectations, just a happy family. Oh yeah, Pedro lives in this au. He just has some scars (and it's hard for him to move about because of them)

Food truck au:

An au (modern) where Julieta owns her own food truck full of Colombian cuisine. It's just her, her husband, and her three daughters in this au. Just a mama trying to earn a living. It's mostly wholesome with some trials and tribulations.

But overall very cute!

In the vampire au, does Julieta, Pepa and Bruno exist? Also are the guzmans vampires too?

Uhhhhh so they do exist. But Julieta and Pepa are dead. Along with their husbands <\\\333 killed the massacre that went through the village, hunters thought they were vampires (ironically the hunters also thought they were protecting Alma and the grandkids from them).

Bruno may or may not be alive, it's not really know (aka, I haven't decided yet). If he is alive, he's living on the very outskirts of the village, and is under the impression his entire family is dead. Though he will eventually go back to Caaita and learn they're alive. He was turned in this scenario as well lmao. How, I have no idea, but unlike the grandkids, it wasn't by Alma.

And yes, the Guzmán's are vampires❗❗ Very close friends to the Madrigals, and they help each other out in surviving in the tough times 🙏🙏many families within the village have friendships and alliances that date back centuries, and the Madrigals and Guzmán's are one of those.

Mariano is close friends with the grandkids. Like a lot of other vampire kids in the village, they are sheltered. They also feel like they can't fully connect and befriend the human children because a lot of them are the children of hunters, some of the hunters that killed their parents. While Mariano's parents are still alive, his older brother and tia didn't survive the massacre <\\\3

Is was a little to quiet in the casita for Felix and Augustine. The two men were on the patio when the both had a similar thought.

“I would love to hear Julieta’s laugh right now. It brightens up any room!” August (A/N: is that an acceptable abbreviation? ) said.

“Pepa has a nice laugh too! It’s so cheerful! And squeaky.” He mutters the last part as an afterthought.

One thing led to another and now….

Julieta has zero clue what her husband was doing. He , all of a sudden, came into her room and gave her a hug from behind .

“Well what is it?”

“Your laughter.” He spoke abrubtly, before squeezing his wife’s sides rapidly.

“Mihihi amhohor ! Phohor quhuhue! (My love! Why!) “

“Because i love you~ and your laughters adorable!”

He wasn’t lying when he said her laughter brightened up the whole room.

Pepa was in a similar situation. Hugged by her husband, being tickled to bits.

Slowly a rainbow started to form over Pepa’s head .

She was happy .

The husbands were happy, smiling at their wives beautiful laughter and thinking ..

Julieta felt like a terrible mother.

Luisa was hurt, she had broken a promise to Mirabel, Isa was more than likely upset too, and here Julieta was cuddling with her husband and not wanting to see them. She ought to have been ashamed of herself. She was supposed to be working– she was supposed to be holding everything together.

…She hadn’t told him, but she had heard Bruno’s pleas at her bedside, though she didn’t comment on it.

Her family needed her. They needed her smile, her calm nature, her healing, her gift she couldn’t just lay around being sick and useless.

As if reading her mind, Agustín’s arms tightened around her and he brought her closer to him. His slow and soft breathing was soothing, and Julieta yearned to sleep once more, but the tight pains in her abdomen made that unlikely.

Julieta yearned for her cooking.

She yearned to feel okay again so that she could make everyone else feel okay again. She wanted nothing more than to walk out of this room, give her girls a big hug, apologize for scaring them and telling them that she was okay and it was just a rough morning. All she wanted was–

“Agustín? Are you up? I brought your- Julieta!” Pepa nearly dropped the tray she was carrying. Quickly, she set it on Julieta’s bedside table and kneeled before her.

Julieta wished she had at least thought to pretend she was sleeping.

“Ay, Pepa– the sun,” Agustín mumbled and covered his eyes. At least one of them got some sleep.

“Sorry, sorry, I just- are you okay? How are you feeling?” Pepa asked, placing a hand on Julieta’s forehead before quickly removing it and trying to hide her cringe at the temperature.

“I’m fine, Pepa .I was just resting a bit,” Julieta half-lied.

“Here- have some tea. I made it for myself and Agustín, but you need it much more,” Pepa held a teacup for her. Mustering all her strength, Julieta sat herself up and took it, taking a small sip.

Not particularly strong, and a bit cold but it was still slightly soothing.

“Thank you, Pepa. I would’ve told you but she wanted more time to rest,” Agustín spoke for her.

Pepa’s sunlight dimmed. “Oh, w-well that’s alright, you’re so sick, you should take all the time in private you need,” She smiled softly, but all Julieta could see was the pain behind her eyes.

“Pepa, I-”

“No, no, I should go. I’m sure Camilo is probably missing his afternoon snack, I’ll leave you be,” Pepa gave the couple a quick smile before quickly exiting the room, leaving Julieta feeling even worse than she had before. She set the teacup down.

“Did you get any rest, amor?” Agustín asked, kissing her cheek. She lied with a nod.

“Are you ready for me to tell the girls?” He asked.

Julieta looked down.

“Maybe later…” She said, guilt creating a knot in her throat.

“That’s alright my love, take as long as you need,” He said softly. The guilt tightened in her throat.

“I… I think I want you to get Mamá,” Julieta said. “I think I want to see her.”

Julieta awakes very sick one morning and realizes her emergency stash of food is out.

Julieta Madrigal’s gift could heal any physical ailment in the village. No disease or injury was ever too much… if she got there in time, that is to say. But most times if she couldn’t, one of her special extra stocks of arepas or empanadas or hard candies would be sent out. All of this is to say, Julieta Madrigal handled everything thrown at her with grace and a readiness no one else in the family– save for Abuela Alma– had within them.

So the first thing Julieta Madrigal did when she woke up barely able to move from chills, back pain, and extreme nausea, was send Agustín to get her her emergency stash.

To his horror, her emergency stash was empty. He searched everywhere, under the cabinets, in drawers, in her storage baskets, in the icebox, in drawers, everywhere he could possibly think of (all the while trying his best not to injure himself along the way).

“Agustín? What are you searching for? And where is Julieta? She’s usually cooking by now,” Pepa startled the man, causing him to hit his head on a cabinet.

“She’s- uh- under the weather,” He said, rubbing the sore spot.

“And you’re looking for her stash?” She asked. Agustín nodded. Pepa immediately understood and began searching with her brother in law right away, but they quickly reached the same conclusion that her stashes were empty or missing.

“How bad is it, Agustín?” Pepa asked, checking one of the cabinets for the fifth time just to make sure arepas hadn’t appeared since she last checked.

“She hasn’t gotten up from bed yet– she asked me to find one before Alma or the girls woke up,” Agustín checked too, but knew all he’d see were empty baskets. A storm cloud started to form over Pepa’s head as her forehead pressed into worried wrinkles.

“Well… I guess I can start on breakfast for her if you tell her about the empty stash. Maybe she can make her own when she’s ready,” Pepa suggested, clearly not in love with the idea herself. Agustín nodded, going back upstairs as Pepa started to gather pots and pans.

“Julieta, mi amor?” Agustín knocked on the door, finding Julieta still in bed. She only mumbled in response.

“Amor, I think your special stash ran out. Do you think you’ll be able to make anything today?” He asked. Julieta nodded, sitting herself up carefully, trying to ignore the flashing pains down her spine.

“Is Pepa making breakfast?” She asked, hearing the noise from downstairs. Agustín nodded.

“I must’ve slept so late… I thought it was still early,” Julieta swung her legs off the bed, and after ignoring a chill or two, stood, leaning against the bedpost.

“Juli, if you still need to rest, you should,” her husband rushed to her side after seeing her struggle.

“I can handle myself,” She smiled weakly, knowing it was utter bullshit. Whatever this was, she hadn’t had it before because it felt her whole body was melting and yet ice cold with every step she took, her nerves being shot up her spine. It was new, it was painful, and she hated every moment of it thus far.

“Let me help you down the stairs,” He went to take her hand when a pounding at the door stopped his train of thought.

“Papaaaaaaa!!! Isa took my doll!!!!” Luisa pounded against their bedroom door.

“Did not!! It’s probably just lost in that giant room of yours!” Isabella protested down the hall.

Agustín sighed. “Isa-”

“It’s okay, you can solve this. I’ll be fine going on my own,” Julieta told him with a small smile.

“Are you sure?” He wanted to be certain.

“Papa!!!” The eight-year-old banged on the door more.

“Coming, mi hija!” Agustín called out, glancing at Julieta nervously, but knowing he had to address his daughters, left with much remorse.

Julieta was glad. She was determined to cook so that she could feel better, and there was no way she could feign wellness with Agustín right next to her. Frankly, she had no idea how she was even going to make it out of the bedroom, but the family and village needed her– needed her gifts.

Also this is the fourth time I'm typing this out because Tumblr is fucking stupid <3333

🦋 Luisa spends lots of time with Antonio when she's stressed. The animals don't expect anything from her and Antonio generally has a very calming presence and is very down-to-earth to be 5 years old.

🦋 Camilo has a lot of issues asking for things. While his gift is useful, it isn't useful in the same way as the others. He feels like he isn't giving enough and then asks for too much, so he usually insists on dealing with things himself and toughing it out when he's upset, and tends to minimize his problems and feelings. Mirabel and Félix are understanding, so if he can, he comes to them.

🦋 All of the Madrigals are very physically affectionate with each other, especially Mirabel, Camilo, and Pepa.

🦋 Camilo had very little volume control as a child and would sometimes upset Dolores. He always felt awful after and would come into her room and try to make her feel better. Sometimes he would outright refuse to speak for a while for fear of being too loud and doing it again.

🦋 Dolores is very talkative with Mariano. Because she's so consumed with all she hears throughout the day, she feels unheard, but he helps a lot.

🦋 Alma and Bruno spend a lot of time together after rebuilding Casita. He felt sort of unimportant and unheard as a child because no one wanted to listen to his interests, so she makes a conscious effort to let him talk about whatever he likes (mostly telenovela plots) whenever he wants.

🦋 Mirabel got Bruno several new shirts when he came back and stitched several pretty but subtle designs. He's not super outgoing so she worried that if she did it to his ruana, then he'd be less likely to wear it because of all the bright colors and attention it would have gotten him, so she did it with his shirts so it's somewhat less noticeable. He wears them all the time.

🦋 Bruno helps teach Antonio to read, and has a little storytime thing with him. Eventually the other younger Madrigals caught on and now storytime is basically a tradition for the entire family. They have it twice a week.

🦋 Mirabel and Bruno make clothes for the rats together, and Isa helps him make cute sets.

🦋 Bruno's room is filled with plants from Isabela.

🦋 Dolores got her cryptic habits and observations from Bruno. They're both not great at social interaction and are very blunt.

🦋 Agustín and Dolores have competitions about who can play more complex pieces on the piano. Usually Agustin wins.

🦋 Camilo is very invested in Bruno's telenovelas. Dolores would tell him about the plot and eventually he had to know everything. He's always on his toes for the next big plot point.

🦋 Mirabel, Pepa, Julieta, and Isabela are all very protective of Bruno and are the most eager to defend him from the few lingering assholes in town. Bruno doesn't need them to defend him, but they insist upon it anyway.

🦋 Félix and Agustín are pretty protective of Bruno and have been since they started dating their wives. It started out as a sort of protectiveness by proxy, but they both genuinely value and respect Bruno as a brother by now, so they pretty much come to his defense whenever they feel it necessary.

🦋 Félix and Agustín both call Bruno 'hermanito' as a joke, since he's one of the shortest Madrigals, and now Bruno calls them both hermanito as well. It's a sort of playful competition.

🦋 Bruno feels the emotions in his visions. There's not barrier between his reality and the reality displayed in his visions, so he feels the impact of them full force. Someone's mom just died? He feels as if his mamá just died. Someone just got cheated on after 10 years of marriage? He feels like he's being faced with his partner's infidelity.

Beach town au

Ceremonies are a celebration, but the actual BIRTHDAY is deemed much more important. Gifts are a constant, but birthdays are special. They exist to celebrate that you actually made it this long. 

Mirabel does get a gift in this au but I’m not sure what yet. I just know it’s something that has to do with creation. 

Shells are used as currency, but some shells are left on the beach in case some sea creature needs it. As well as that, when baby turtles are hatching from the sand the villagers make sure to protect the lil dudes until they get to the water. It’s a tradition Pedro and his wifey started and everybody just hopped on board.

Dolores’ gift is something she can turn on and off at will. I saw someone have this theory and I stick with it. There’s no way in god's green earth Casita would give a gift of super hearing without giving her a choice in whether she can turn it on or off. 

Now, Julieta’s food is truly loved but her shaved ice and paletas (Ice pops) are a must have. Especially during the summer. She doesn’t use her gift all that much unless it’s an emergency.  So, she has no problem setting up a cart to give out summer treats and such. (But her family always get first dibs) 

Mariano and Dolores are getting married soon! It’ll be a beach wedding of course. The dress won’t be too big, seeing as it’s a little toasty in Encanto (I mean, people can do it but it’s going to be a hot wedding day if they do). Traditional wedding dresses in Encanto are sheer and short or with a long mermaid tail look but thin. 

Oh yeah, Isabela is a certified surfer (all the madrigals are) but she likes doing it more often.

Love this au sm <3333 I like how the birthdays are way more important than the gift <333 like it’s not a ceremony, it’s a birthday celebration. I imagine the gifts are just viewed as some present by the candle/Casita. W Casita for letting Dolores’ gifts being a choice 🙏

I think?? They would still wear white/gold on their birthday, but they do that so that whoever’s birthday it is can stand out. Not that it’s hard to tell. Their birthday parties are always beach parties; I think Pedro and Alma gift them their first surfboard on their 5th birthday, cause they see them as old enough to start learning how to surf lmao

W Isabela and Julieta. Isabela has way too much fun in Isabela when she’s surfing. I also think she’s one of the main ones to help Antonio’s learn how (besides Mirabel), and I think she also insisted on teach Mirabel and Camilo when they were little.

Rock band au -

Also, I like how you gave Mira a lip piercing that’s like Pepa’s and gave Camilo a nose piercing that’s like Isa’s! And that helped think of something cute-

So, it’s obvious Mira and Camilo are too young to actually have real piercings (besides ear piercings), so I think they buy fake ones. They happened to try out new types of piercings every so often (every other day) to see what fits them. (In other words, which ones their going to get when they're older.)

Pepa recommended it to Isabela before she permanently got her own septum piercing. And in turn, Isabela recommended it to her hermanita and primito.

At the moment Camilo really likes snake bites and the septum piercing. Mirabel likes eyebrow piercings, nose bridge piercing, and dimple piercings.

maybe a little silly fact,,,,but both Julieta and Bruno ALSO had piercings. Because as teens they were very influenced by Alma. Pepa was just the only one who stuck. Bruno had a septum, and Julieta, SURPRISINGLY??? Had a tongue. You can see the tongue scar when she sticks her tongue out. Dunno if they'd keep em.

Alma walked up the stairs to the second level of the Other Casita. She walked down the halls. The doors were all dark. Very dark. The wood was worn, and the paint was peeling. The floorboards creaked beneath her shoes as she walked.

She was heading to the Other Julieta's room when she stopped, seeing the nursery door. The pint was mostly peeled on scratched away. The wood was splintering, and she didn't dare touch the broken doorknob. None of that really mattered until she saw what was tied to the door.

It was the Other Mirabel's dress. Nearly identical to her actual granddaughter's dress. The shoes were tied to the now-tattered lace at the bottom. Alma's eyes widened as she realized the implications of the cruel display in front of her.

Earlier, in her first escape, the other Mirabel had pulled her out of the mirror. The Other Pedro has sewn her mouth into a crude, deformed smile. Alma tried to bring Other Mirabel with her. But the girl knew she couldn't go, evident by the sand that fell out of her hand when it had been cut in the run. She wouldn't last.

Alma had wondered where she was, more than the Other family members anyway. And now she knew. The poor girl had been punished for helping.

Alma felt rage, sadness, and a torrent of other emotions well up in her. It wasn't the real Mirabel, but she reminded her too much of her real granddaughter it hurt almost as much.

Alma turned, leaning on the broken railing. "Evil brujo!" She screamed at the empty, quiet, and lifeless house. "I'm not scared!"

After huffing for a moment, she turned and made her way to her original destination. She would get the eyes, find her family, wherever they were, and leave. That Other Pedro...he was a monster. Nothing like the real Pedro.

Coming up the door, she carefully opened it, the hinges creaking as if about to collapse at any moment. But she pushed through. She would find the eyes and save her family from this hellscape.
