Oh this is also an interesting thing about the Hanja in ORV Characters' names. 劉 gets simplified to 刘 on the mainland to approximate the meaning art "文" of the knife"刂"。 This shows it's meaning of slaughtering/killing. But to break down the traditional form Korean uses as hanja, you have the 4th earthly branch of daybreak/dawn 卯 (like on old Chinese clock it is rabbit hour, ~5-7am), metal/gold 金, and knife again.

This is pretty interesting bc like 卯's pictographic origin is an animal/sacrifice being split in two/ cut down the middle so 劉 kind of looks like metal falling through and cutting an animal in half and then knife, so yeah literally slaughter. But also 金 is the Hanja for family name 김... So in that context Yoo Joonghyuk's name has Kim Dokja's surname inside of it being used to slaughter an animal... So the idea that on the whole Yoo Joonghyuk is this weapon, this fierce killer, but that he is in some ways also an animal of slaughter, a sacrifice to sustain KDJ... Kinda cool if intentional.

+ I've talked about previously that the role of YSA is also one where she is grappling with an archetype of Supporting character that lacks agency over plot despite knowledge of it, which she is only able to break free from in the epilogues... It's interesting then to see Yoo as implying a supporting role/ as a sacrifice to the main character's story...

Before anyone dreads this means I’ve lobotomized myself and lost all semblance of standards, I’ll have you know I spent the past 5-6 years picking apart an absolute mess of a fanfic/AU (complete with sloppy/samey character design) and written up several Word docs trying to understand what and why any of it even was. Even now, they’re incomplete because I’m missing pieces, and keep finding new ones at random (and they tend to raise more questions than they answer, but I guess that’s the “fun” of it).

If my opinion on the above is nowhere near that extreme, it does not mean I lack the critical thinking to…what, agree with you?

#I like the perspective that Captain America is the one that’s really alive because he has a purpose #whereas Steve is a ‘hollow shell’ because he lacks a ‘real life’ or purpose #the specification that Steve lacks of wife really stands out #I think because I’m used to that being left as just being referred to vaguely as ‘loved ones’ or similar #though the order of the sentence- ‘/other/ men have friends- wives- /loved ones!/- really puts the emphasis on the general term #referring to Steve’s all-encompassing lack #at first I thought maybe Steve’s account here was unreliable #and that he does have people who would spend time with him- as shown in the previously posted panels #but it really doesn’t seem that even now that they spend time together outside of Avengers work and training #of course during the first team I was really struck by how much the Avengers didn’t come across as friends #which was compounded by that they strictly maintained their secret identities and weren’t allowed to ask each other personal questions #with Steve standing out because they all knew who he was while he didn’t know who they were #they’re not maintaining that for this team but they’re still not hanging out outside of being Avengers #also the phrasing that Sharon is ‘like my first love- as though she had been- reborn’ is making me think for the first time #beyond the physical similarities #because at first Steve really did not know her so that’s all he had to go by #but now they’ve interacted a little bit more #so he could be thinking (or imagining) that their demeanors are similar too #and the end of this story Nick talks about how he knows how much Steve cares about Sharon #while jokingly referring to her as Steve’s ‘girl friend’ #that Steve talks around referring to her by name is awkward but it’s because he doesn’t know it #that Nick talks around it is weird because he has to know it so it’s like he’s purposely keeping that knowledge from Steve #though he’s using Steve’s feelings for Sharon to recruit him for a mission to help her #marvel #steve rogers #my posts #comic panels

i love that the information on hera's servers is just something she (mostly) has access to and it isn't inherently part of her or necessarily something she knows, exactly - that she has to actively read the books available to her, that she doesn't commit all of the information she processes to memory, that her memory is fallible and influenced by her own biases, etc. because it means sometimes eiffel is like, wow, hera!! you're so smart; you know everything!! and meanwhile she's doing the equivalent of like, googling stuff really fast.

That feeling when you get hit with a wave of nostalgia for a book/tv show you used to like and then you search it up on tumblr and there is no fandom for it whatsoever. Not even a single textpost

#for reference this post was sparked by me suddenly remembering a book I found when I was about 9-10 #It was actually a book series but I can only remember the final book plot (and even then only very vaguely) #It was “the vampire bewitched” by pete johnson and I’d forgotten all that #so I ended up searching “vampire books with a tallulah in it” to find it #the plot was something about three ternagers (two of whom were vampires) who hunted “super vampires” or something #and a character called Grace got amnesia because her memories got trapped in this porcelain dog by the BBEG #Also Tallulah had magical powers which only got revealed in the last book (probably as a loophole by the author to finish the plot) #<- she used an amulet given to her by the BBEG and snapped her fingers and said “fire form” or something #anyway #sorry for that rant I only just remembered the book existed and I was *obsessed* with it back then but now I can hardly remember it #I’m pretty sure it inspired my first ever attempt at fanfiction (probably about 50 words though) #I’m surprised that on *the vampire website* there is nothing to be found for the fandom (if there even is one) #the vampire bewitched #vampire tag #corrie converses
