My siblings are home sick and watching tcw, and they got to Sphere of Influence and I now have so many questions???? About baron papanoida????
Like, the guy decided independently to investigate his daughter’s kidnapping with no outside help, knew exactly how to work jabba’s throne room, was casually carrying a switchblade and two blasters, and neither he or his kids seemed to even bat an eye at getting into a shootout in a bar in mos eisley outnumbered two to one.
what are you sir

Mirror Kira is something that can actually be so personal
#in a number of ways tbh like defo in a gay way and in terms of clone fucker rights and in terms of evil girlbossing etc etc but most of all#most of the mirror characters (to me) feel like au versions of the prime characters and obviously they ARE but they're still very much atta#attached to the prime characters y'know what i mean? like maybe not everyone but most mirror characters do feel like they basically are wha#the prime characters could've been if their lives had been different and like it's not completely out of the question for mirror kira but s#she still feels so... herself. like she's not defined by prime kira on any level. most mirror characters feel very defined by their prime c#counterparts and mirror kira... she's different. she is literally herself and no similarities will change that. she does not exist as an ex#extension of prime kira she is her own separate character. mirror kira could literally exist in the prime universe without even having to b#connected to prime kira by anything other than name and face. file off her serial numbers and you're golden & have a new and extremely comp#compelling villain. she is separate she's herself and nobody else. all the other mirror characters feel like twisted versions of the prime#characters who took a different path at some point. if there's any way to apply this to mirror kira that point would be her birth. like she#genuinely feels like they took a look at the circumstances on bajor in the mirror verse and thought about how a bajoran might grow up there#and THEN they made that bajoran kira. like i'm not saying she's nothing like prime kira but she just feels so much more developed tbh as if#they genuinely wrote out her whole life rather than just its present state y'know. it's great! i adore her#anyway#mirror kira nerys#mirrorverse#star trek deep space nine#ds9#yes most of the meat of this post is in the tags lmao idek why#original posts fresh from quark's pussy

best concept I came up with: Quentin Quire clone who's a cis girl (because he's trans) and is basically everything Quentin was both before he transitioned and before he. became Quentin (as in post Genosha/Jumbo Assassination/Finding out he's adopted/etc Quentin) and he HATES her because she's everything he left behind and everything he doesn't want to be reminded that he used to be (a girl, a loser, bullied, insecure, not cool enough, a nerd, even though he still is some of these things its very much more OBVIOUS on her than it is on him right now) and he keeps trying to push her into realizing she's trans and into becoming Him but once he realizes she just isn't going to do this and is happy as a girl (because being trans is not an inherent genetic thing fuck you!) he actively avoids her because it just straight up causes him dysphoria and emotional discomfort, and he doesn't want to be reminded that he used to be like that, doesn't want to be reminded of his old self and doesn't want HER to ruin HIS reputation. Even though literally nobody cares and probably half the people around him don't even know he's trans or remember what he was like before the Pink Mohawk.

I just spent half a day arguing with someone who claims aph Spain is practically Arab because of Al Andaluz and I can't with people
That person didn't know any basic history. If Spain is Arab because of Al Andalus, India must be an exact copy of Britain and the quintessential Anglo Saxon society. And at least they do speak English, lol.
That person probably fed on all the Orientalist propaganda and ridiculous stereotypes about Spain. But the influence Arab culture had in Spain is minimal and superficial. Sure, there's some Arab influence, but it is pretty superficial and non transcendental to Spanish culture, society, or identity. Its biggest contribution to Spain was it acting as its adversary, hence reinforcing the Roman and Christian identity of Spain's population. They should just ask themselves what language do Spaniards speak and what is the predominant religion in Spain.
Also, just ask the person if they think Arabs are responsible for mass genocide in Spain and killed all native inhabitants so everyone in Spain is Arab now.
Tbh, I'm sure they don't even distinguish between Arab and North African/Berber culture, nor are aware of the process of Reconquista, let alone know the difference between Emirate and Caliphate, or the existence of the Taifa kingdoms.
Anyone who thinks Spain is an Arab country, or even somewhat Arab, because of Al Andalus, is either an ignorant/delusional fool, or a troll, or maybe both.
As for aph Spain, I would think nation personifications represent the people living in those regions. Since people living in Spain today are not Arab, not even remotely so, and are descendants of the Northern Christian people who repopulated the south + buckets of Christian people who lived in the south under Muslim rule but who never converted and were later assimilated again within a Christian, Greco-Roman, and Medieval European context and culture, I see absolute no reason to make aph Spain Arab, nor anything remotely similar. That would make as much sense as creating an OC of the Mexica (Aztec) empire and making him/her Spanish, or making India a Saxon warrior, or Nigeria a Viking sailor (actually, maybe even less sense, if that's even possible).

part of the tragedy of the clones is the accelerated aging. its inseparable from their creation and their duty. it doesnt just artificially shorten their lives, it concentrates the feelings they have about themselves and their ability to leave/stay and to fight or not fight, because they have half as much time to do anything. if their bodies break down at an alarming speed, theyd probably hate to have to do it outside of what's familiar to them, even if what's familiar is an active violation of their rights. its an artificial life constraint as well as an artificial choice constraint. if you had all the time in the world, you'd probably worry less about why you were put into the galaxy, what your "purpose" was. existentialism is less daunting when you can exist perpetually. not so for clones.

Imma keep it real with you, chief. Star Wars would have a way different public reception if more people realised that they are truly movies for children. Older children, but still for people whose worldview is still very black and white. And different trilogies work for different generations. I respect the OT for its impact, but they are very boring to me. The prequels are a really entertaining mess to me. They're my favorite because it's an unadulterated look into George Lucas's head. But the sequels took themselves too seriously tone-wise. So like the OT, they're boring. But I have no respect for them, because they're just an arm of the Disney brand. TLDR star wars are kids movies and are not high cinema like people pretend they are. I only like them when they're fun
I like the original film, I think it's both entertaining and well-made, but Empire bored me out of my mind when I tried to watch it as an adult, even if I can acknowledge some positive things about the filmmaking. I haven't even attempted to rewatch Return of the Jedi but the scene with the muppets singing jazz for Jabba the Hutt is just like...way too kitsch even for me.
The prequels are good meme fodder and there are good parts [Ian McDarmid's performance] and unintentionally funny parts, but I can't really say that I enjoy watching them as a whole. The RLM review of The Phantom Menace where he says "this script is like an eight-year-old wrote it" hits it on the nose--sometimes that's okay, Anastasia (1997) is one of my favorite movies ever and the nonsensical plot twists and turns remind me very much of a child's make-believe game--but the characters at least have to be distinct, which isn't the case in the prequels imho. I think the prequels could have been good but it's almost better that they weren't so that we can have "I don't like sand..."
I agree the sequels took themselves too seriously tone-wise, there were long stretches that were extremely boring and I thought it was way too dark for a young audience. The Last Jedi was so appalling to me that I didn't bother to watch the last one and I honestly don't think I ever will.

ASAJJ IN THE CLONE WARS DOESN'T WORK BECAUSE SHE GOES FROM HAVING LITTLE TO NO MOTIVATION WHATSOEVER TO DITCHING THAT LITTLE MOTIVATION FOR A CRUSADE OF VENGEANCE ON A PERSON WITHOUT EXPLAINING WHY SHE DIDN'T SEE HOW MUCH HE WAS RUINING HER LIFE BEFORE HE TRIED TO KILL HER. ALSO SHE SUDDENLY FORGETS EVERYTHING BOUT HER PREVIOUS CRUSADE AND MOTIVATION AGAINST THE JEDI AND WORKS WITH THEM WHICH MAKES EVERYTHING SHE DOES IN THE FIRST SEASONS MAKE NO SENSE DOES SHE HATE THE JEDI OR NOT PLEASE I DON'T UNDERSTAND. I KEEP TRYING TO FOLLOW HER CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT BUT IT'S SUCH A MESS WHY DOES SHE EVEN WORK WITH DOOKU IN THE FIRST PLACE WHY DOES SHE WANT TO KILL JEDI WHY DON'T THE REASONS FOR THAT MATTER IN DARK DISCIPLE WHY IS IT ALL ABOUT THE SMALL STORYLINES AND NEVER THE BIGGER PICTURE? WHY DOESN'T SHE MAKE SENSE AS A CHARACTER??? ok thanks for listening.

you can think all of these things as a human though like do you even have a soul idk do YOU? what does it mean to think when you’re only a machine but like.. the brain is still controlled by electric or chemical impulses just bc it’s made of meat and more complex than a computer doesn’t mean that’s not the case. which is not to say I don’t think turning out to be a robot wouldn’t be scary or disturbing at all but I feel like whether youre biological or not doesn’t really matter

i like that kuukou canonically smells like incense, like it’s just nice to know lol, but the reason he does is because he presides over funerals which means he carries around the scent of death essentially and that hurts me on a molecular level lmao
