So I was playing through the update (very very fun!!) and I got to the part where Rafaele asks the MC how he looks. I accidentally selected a choice without "looking" at Rafaele, then went back to look first and then select a choice. I found the contrast between the two outcomes very funny — I just had to pause and write this ask because man this got a lot of giggles out of me 👻👻

It was definitely a very nice semi-hidden little treasure to stumble upon! I probably wouldn't have found this if it weren't for accidentally clicking a choice without doing the looking first; I know that "not looking" is reflected in the wording of the choices in that certain scenario, but for some reason my brain didn't register it at all until I consciously looked closer 😭

Also, I really really like the "not looking" scenario for some reason?? It feels so familial and intimate, an exasperated father mock-sighing at his unabashedly confident child. It kind of feels like a peek into how MC interacted with their parents during their younger, more childish days 😌 It certainly gave me quite a few drabble/headcanon ideas regarding my MC and his parents, at least. I liked it so much that I decided to keep it (sorry, Rafaele)!! 😝✨

You're right, though -- it seems so familiar and easy in a way that's intimate to anyone you've been with for a very long time. So even if it may seem like the more "disrespectful" option, it really is just everyday interaction with your family. A little taken for granted, but loving all the same.

I'm super glad you like the dads, and I know many people do as well ❤️ I find it fascinating that we especially value and devalue ROs at the same time (no /neg or criticism). A lot of people look to IFs just for the romance, that sometimes we reduce characters we can romance to being there just for that. Thus, finding characters we can get attached to, without any prior expectation to romance them, feels more special.

Again, not necessarily a bad mindset, or directed towards you, specifically--it's just been on my mind for a long time! It makes me so happy that you can find a character like that in my IF, because I definitely do not want to make important side characters less loveable or interesting than the ROs. So your fondness for the parents is really special as well, and shows that that isn't the case!

PFFFFFFFFFT 😝 I refer you to the fact I am a rank newbie and can’t possibly offer advice because that implies I know what I’m doing…!!!

… Unless I steal advice directly given to me by an experienced wise one *looks pointedly*…

I confess I am still struggling to follow this advice on many days when I get the intrusive feeling that it is ridiculous and borderline rude of me to try to contribute anything to the amazing body of work that the Thunderfam has produced… and is still producing… and I feel that everything I think of has been done already and SO MUCH BETTER or maybe I should just put the idea out there for someone to do a better job with? I dunno…

But borrowed wisdom says something to the effect of…

Nobody else can tell your story the way you can.

And also

More fic is always good fic.

So I’m trying my best to believe that and think everyone else should too.

Also… and this might be just the unique and irritating way my brain works but in case anyone else does the same… it takes deliberate effort to remember that number of notes doesn’t *necessarily* correlate with whether a piece of work has merit. I’m a data nerd and I can’t help tracking it (I’ve tried but I do it anyway) and it’s really easy to get in a stew of “person x who I respect didn’t interact so they must hate it, I should give up” or “wow, I was really proud of that chapter but it got fewer likes than the others… is my judgment totally off?” Sometimes people just don’t see things (yay tumblr) or they are busy and mean to come back to it and don’t get around to it. Maybe there are people who enjoy it but just don’t do likes or reblogs on everything… or maybe they didn’t like it as much but that doesn’t matter. If I did… it’s valid. Doing this for fun not approval, right?

Just write the words. You can play with them later, post them, or not. But if an idea comes write it down because it’s good for you.

Also, randomly message people who seem interested and ask them to read things through for you… I’ve been really surprised by how many lovely people actually enjoy this and want to chat ideas 🥰 dunno if this is universal but the Thunderfam is very friendly and supportive!

I am super okay with any questions you have about anything. I might not come with the correct answer to these questions, BUT I'll try to answer them either way! However if some questions are uncomfortable for me to answer, I can't put my finger on what such questions would be expect for like, NSFW stuff, I'm really not comfortable with that on my blog so please keep NSFW material/questions/requests to yourself. :)

With requests, if we are now talking art requests etc, then I'll gladly draw most stuff!! I tend to only enjoy drawing stuff I'm fixated on, so if I'm going through a overwhelming time or something due to my undiagnosed and therefore unmedicated ADHD I will probably not be drawing your requests. :(( BUT I'LL GET BACK TO THEM AFTER THE OVERWHELMING PERIODS!! Wow! Interesting to see all these fics laid out together. You don't realize how much 10 is until you do something like this lol. Look at all those fandoms. And here I was thinking my production for MDZS was slowing down lol.

As for patterns, it seems my general technique is to start with a simple and to the point sentence to pull the reader in. I seem to like setting the scene or general tone first. Or in some cases, just making a simple statement that will hopefully entice a reader to continue (like in Begin Again or Orchid of the Moon)

The only outlier is the last one because I was adapting the Blade Runner script, and that's the first line in the movie's opening title cards. It also functions similarly to my personal technique in setting the stage immediately, but I can't take credit for it 😝

The Swan Theory (The Owl House)

With The Owl House’s next special “For The Future” just a day away, I thought I’d go back throw a theory I’ve had for a while onto here from Twitter (where I originally posted it). I just need to state this now in case I'm somehow right and it does eventually come true, I want to be able to say I officially called it 😝

I truly think there's a chance that Luz's palisman will end up being a swan.

I know most people have different theories on what her palisman might be, the most popular theory I've seen being a snake, and while there is admittedly a lot of blatant evidence for snake I think there's some equally compelling evidence for swan as well.

First of all, speaking of the snake theory, some consider the logo as evidence due to the L and H lines making staffs leading to the O (Owlbert) and the S. They say the S represents the shape of a snake, but really it could just as easily be seen as the shape of a swan.

Next up, my biggest piece of evidence, Camila says that Luz used to make tinfoil swans for her. Having this specific sentimental animal craft paired with the fact that she'll be custom carving her palisman leads me to think she might make a swan as a tribute to her mom.

Furthering this idea is the this line right after being given the palistrom wood where Luz is missing her mom too much to think of what she'd want as her palisman. Her love and separation from Camila might make her think to craft a swan just like she used to for her.

Next is a fairly simple detail seen in a recent episode where, to the left of Camila, a calendar can be seen with an image of swans. Another reference to swans and their connection between Luz and Camila.

Lastly, an interesting detail to note is that every member of the Clawthorne family that we've seen has a bird as a palisman, so in addition to the swan's connection to Luz and Camila it would also fall in line with the pattern of her found family in the Boiling Isles.

And that's the theory! I believe it holds up about as well as any other out there right now, and based on the bits of potential foreshadowing and the themes it'd contain I truly think there's a chance it's correct. Hope you fellow fans out there think so too 😉

Wednesday: A Review

So I recently watched the Wednesday series on Netflix and I have some thoughts 😂. I first got into the Addams family back in 2020(it was in fact one of my quarantine obsessions lol) and when I found out Netflix was making a series with Wednesday, I was intrigued but also a little nervous. Anyway I eventually watched the series and after watching it, I think I’m going to give it a 5.5-6/10(the 5.5-6 sort of depends on my feelings at the moment lol). So, here I’ll talk about what I liked, didn’t like, and what I hope to see in future seasons. Warning that this post is rather critical of the show at times, so read at your own risk 😝.

What I Liked

Jenna Ortega: It’s probably blatantly obvious, but Jenna Ortega was easily the best part of the entire seasons. She gave a phenomenal performance and while I definitely saw some similarities to Christina Ricci’s performance, Jenna was still able to bring out another side to Wednesday as well. I haven’t seen Jenna since her Disney Channel days and this showed that she really has what it takes to be a great actress. And it should go without saying- but the dance scene was iconic 😂

Wednesday and Enid’s friendship: I genuinely really liked the dynamic between these two girls. The actresses both had great chemistry with each other and although I sometimes think the dark/broody with the cheerful/peppy character can be a bit overused, I really liked it in this case. The scene at the end where they hug was really touching and I’d love to see those two interact even more. I’m not entirely sure how I feel about those two in a relationship(mainly because I feel like Wednesday isn’t interested in anyone…more on that later), but I will say that I would rather have them be in a relationship than that boring love triangle we got.

Christina Ricci/Ms Thornhill: I really enjoyed her character in this series. I thought it was really cool that they got the 90s Wednesday for the series and that she actually had an important part to play in the series. I will also admit that I hadn’t really expected her to be one of the villains, so that was a good twist for me. (Side note: I also think it would have been cool if Lisa Loring(aka the Og Wednesday) got a cameo too, but I digress lol). Christina Ricci did a really great job and I especially enjoyed her scenes with Wednesday and when she really showed her villainous side at the end.

The opening credits: 🤷‍♀️ What can I say? I’m a sucker for cool opening credits and this show delivered on that lol.

Tyler/the Hyde: So I didn’t really like the love triangle thing at all, but I did find Tyler being the Hyde interesting to me and honestly I think it would be cool to see the origins of him becoming a Hyde in future seasons. Idk if that would result in him being redeemed per say, but I think the show implies that he is not really aware of what he is doing as the Hyde. And even if he doesn’t get redeemed(I could see the show going either way tbh), I still think that part of him could be explored. At the very least I found that aspect of him more compelling than his “relationship” with Wednesday(again more on that later lol)

Thing: He may be just a hand, but he was very entertaining and I enjoyed his scenes with Wednesday and Enid quite a bit.

What I Didn’t Like

The Addams Family Dynamics: One of my favorite things about the Addams Family is that for all their creepy and macabre interests- at the core this is a family that really loves each other. They have one of the most wholesome family bonds I’ve ever seen and you can tell that the members of the family really care for one another. I…didn’t really get this feeling in the show. I understand that Wednesday is a teenager here, but I feel like having her be so against her parents is honestly just really dull and not true to the original characters. Wednesday and Morticia are usually shown to be close, but this series drove a wedge between them that I didn’t really appreciate. I also didn’t get why Morticia and Gomez would be so against Wednesday knowing about what Morticia did. It seemed OOC for me as judging from what we’ve seen from the Addams family previously- murder is not exactly on their red flags list(*glances at the movies from the 90s*). There was a bit more familial solidarity with Wednesday and Pugsley, but we really don’t see those two interact all that much. I understand that this is a show about Wednesday primarily, but I really didn’t really enjoy her dynamics with her family in the show(where normally it’s one of my favorite things in most of the other adaptions(animated movies aside lol) )

The Love Triangle: Good grief, did this nearly bore me to tears lol. For starters- I’m just tired of love triangles in general. 9 times out of 10, I can already predict who will “win” and it’s also just an overdone plot point by now. In this case, it was made worse because Wednesday literally shows no interest in either Xander or Tyler. And so I was struggling to see how those two could think she liked either one of them, because she only seemed to tolerate them at best. It also didn’t help that I wasn’t super interested in those two as characters(I became more interested in Tyler upon the Hyde reveal, but that was towards the end) let alone as love interests. I also think that Wednesday showed no real romantic feelings towards anyone and that if she was going to be with anyone it should be with Enid, because those two at least had good chemistry.

Wednesday being an Outsider: I’m going to be honest- I found it weird that at a school filled with werewolves, Sirens, and who knows what else- Wednesday was the outsider? This entire school is filled with people who are out of the ordinary and so one would think that weirdness is expected from everyone. I honestly think it would have been more interesting if people in the school were more accepting of Wednesday, because I think that could have led her to interact more with the characters at Nevermore. That also could’ve led to some more character development for the secondary characters, because outside of a few characters at the school- I didn’t really get the chance to care all that much for Wednesday’s classmates. They just didn’t really interest me all that much and the whole “Wednesday being an outsider” thing didn’t really help.

The Social Media References: Okay look. I know the show is set in modern days and as the Addams family often interacts with the regular world, they’re going to have to take note of that stuff. However in this case- the mentions of Instagram and TikTok only served to make me cringe than anything else. It also felt like it would make the show seem too outdated while in the movies and OG series case- they felt timeless. Yes it’s obvious that the OG series and the movies are set in the 60s and 90s respectively, but every time I watch those again, I never really get the outdated sense from them. However, in the series a lot of the modern “shout outs” were a little off putting and I feel like in a few years, it could really end up dating the series. Also since most of the show has a supernatural theme to it, I’ll admit that hearing stuff about Instagram or Tiktok could throw me for a loop at turns lol.

The CWness of it: Another reason why this show didn’t speak super highly to me is because it felt very CW in some ways. I felt like at times they leaned into the whole mystery/teen drama a little too much and I didn’t get the same macabre/spooky feeling I normally get from the Addams family. Rather at times I felt like I was just watching a CW show (just with more supernatural stuff lol)

Wednesday’s Classmates: With the exception of Enid and sometimes Xavier, Ajax, and Bianca, I wasn’t all that interested in the other characters. They didn’t really feel all that developed to me and when Wednesday enlists their help later on, the scene didn’t impact me all that much because I didn’t really feel like we got to see their relationship develop very well. It also seemed like a few of them(Ajax and Xavier mainly lol) existed mainly in terms of love interests which sort of stinks, because I didn’t really get a chance to care for them as individuals. I think it would have been more interesting if we could have seen Wednesday interact more with her other classmates or if they just got more characterization in general.

What I Hope To See

Better Family Dynamics: I’d love it if we could see Wednesday having a healthier relationship in any future seasons(like she does in other versions) and I’d also find it interesting to explore more of Enid’s family and her relationships with them as well.

More Development for Tyler: I found the reveal of Tyler being the Hyde to be rather interesting and more compelling than his “relationship” with Wednesday. I think exploring the Hyde side of him could be an interesting route to explore.

More Development for Bianca: She was one of the few classmates I found intriguing and I hope the show can do more with her. She also seems to have a complicated relationship with her mother and complicated familial relationships are kind of my jam(if my other favorite tv shows are any indication 😂)

Less Teen Drama(Aka no more love triangle): It should go without saying, but honestly the love triangle was just really overdone and forced and made the show seem a lot more CW than necessary. And I don’t even hate all CW shows, but it could make this series seem a little flat at times. I found the whole idea of a magical/supernatural school to be really cool and I think it would be better if they stuck more to the supernatural/mystery aspect of it all.

Anyway, that’s all my thoughts on the show for now. I honestly didn’t hate it or anything and I totally agree that Jenna Ortega was a fantastic Wednesday and she gave an exceptional performance.  I must admit that I am a bit wary now about any future seasons, but I liked it well enough to see a Season 2 :)

Liveblog: The Last Wish by Andrzej Sapkowski

Context: I caught bits and pieces of several scattered episodes of the Netflix Witcher series while at my parent’s place, and have had my curiosity piqued!

Further context: I don’t actually know anything about storytelling techniques. High school English classes were a long time ago, hah. But… I am currently actively trying to learn via observation. So! A lot of my comments are going to be on that topic: what I’m seeing, why I think it’s been done that way, how well I think it’s working, etc.

Setting that aside, I do appreciate that Geralt’s already a bit more talkative than what I recall of the show

Sapkowski really likes ‘no words were necessary’ and ‘gave a look’ and other such unspoken communication, doesn’t he?

Which, y’know, I do like its use in some sections — for myself I find it almost impossible not to respond (or to write a character responding) to statements or questions, so I think it’s a powerful character note to just have someone. Flat out not reply to something. xD And I’m going to try to remember it, now that I’ve had my attention called to that gut instinct of mine.

Other sections it feels more like the author being unwilling to say or commit to something, though, or occasionally like the author expects something to be clear without being outright stated when—for me at least—it definitely isn’t.

Like look. Nonverbal communication works because there are nonverbal things to observe. It does not work if there isn’t even a narrative description of said nonverbal details. 😂

(Mind you I can’t read nonverbal communication to save my life half the time even when there *is* something to observe…)

Other writing thing of note is the occasional use of dialogue to imply/narrate action that’s going on, without any further belaboring of it in the actual narration.

That I rather like. Reminds me a bit of western style comics where character statements are providing half the context, because the illustrations can’t cover it all efficiently enough. Might experiment a bit with it myself, see if it streamlines my writing any!

The third-ish sentence after Dandelion is introduced being Geralt calling him his friend is a massive contrast to what I recall of the show. 😂

It’s another thing I like though. Aside from the random fucking murder at the beginning of the book, I do think I’m finding this characterization more interesting than show!Geralt. (Jury’s out on ‘likable,’ mind. 😝) Both crankier / more vicious and more demonstrative / more personable, somehow. Feels more rounded?

Don’t quote me on that though. Again. I’ve watched like 3-4 episodes, and not in order at that. Not sure why I keep wanting to make comparisons to begin with tbh, I don’t actually know what I’m talking about slskjfhf

Case in point though — an entire? Fucking chapter? That’s literally just Geralt talking? To a stylistic degree, there isn’t even any narration? “I need to talk to someone” and then he does, wtf is Netflix doing

Admittedly he’s doing it to someone who he knows for a fact will never pass what he’s saying on to anyone else but like. Still.

…Geralt is a dork. Jaskier is a dork. They are both such fucking dysfunctional dorks. (Context: catfishing.)

Ffff holy fuck Jaskier is in bad shape. Oof.

…Geralt is furthermore a self-righteous philosophical sap. Who likes making speeches. (Context: half this book, when he isn’t keeping silent or ‘smiling nastily’. Or uh. Murdering people.)

“The witcher didn’t like to do anything needlessly” (paraphrased, again, reading an audiobook) — Geralt. Geralt. Why did you kill those jerks at the start of the book, Geralt. (I’m saying ‘Geralt’ but what I actually mean is ‘why did you write this that way, Sapkowski’ >_>;)

Ohh. And. Also worth mentioning, Yennefer apparently heard the wish? And liked it / found it touching? Huh. For some reason I feel like that was handled very differently in the show, though I can’t recall the specifics.

Anyway I comprehend the whole interwoven destinies necessary result of the wish, but I am not successfully guessing what the actual wish was. Wonder if we’ll ever be explicitly told?

…that uh. That sure is an ominous ending, goodness. Nenneke is so worried and upset, I think that’s the bit that struck me hardest.

I didn’t mention it earlier but I do really enjoy the sections with Nenneke just in general. Their dynamic is really fun :)

Speaking of those sections — climate change! Except not that! Good times. Makes me think of our ozone layer and the potential impacts if it were lost.

And speaking of ominous things — “it’s already too late” or something along those lines with regards to the changing sunlight. Ahah. Good times. Slow natural… well, again, change. Apocalypse, for some species. Curious to see just how many species that will be.

Well! I have a few gripes, but overall I did enjoy it enough to be interested in reading the next book! Curiosity is still a bigger factor than actual investment, currently…? But interest is interest, ahah.

Neurodivergent friends in the UK - hi there 👋

If you have been diagnosed (ASD / ADHD) as an adult in the UK (and don’t mind talking about your experience), could I maybe have a few mins of your time, please? 🙏🥺

(It’s not a weird survey I swear. I’m asking for me 😝)

Basically, one thing that I have going on right now is that I’m wondering whether to pursue an ASD +/or ADHD diagnostic assessment. (I’m in my thirties, for context.)

I just had a series of screening tests (after a long period of researching and relating). They were of course the self-assessment kinds, with results interpreted by professionals, and apparently I met the screening criteria / exceeded all the “cut-offs” for *potential* ASD as well as “borderline” for *potential* inattentive-type ADHD.

Obviously, there is no certainty this would lead to a diagnosis under the full assessment, so who even knows?!

But, I wondered if anyone who has been through similar could provide any advice, please? Like, how to navigate the next steps? Or, like, is it worth seeking diagnosis - especially at this point in life, I guess?

The process sounds long and very expensive and I may not receive a diagnosis at the end of it so... Yeah, interested to hear from those in a similar position.

Also, any tips on getting through the process faster (specifically, maybe getting GP referrals for the full diagnostic assessment?)? Waitlists are huge right now and testing privately costs £££££££££££. I believe my screening letter can now be presented to a GP, but don’t know much more than that.

1st November - New month

Dear God

I want to start by thanking you for your protection, last week my driving anxiety was at an all time high, and I was quite nervous about driving at night as well as driving with many passengers in my car.

I genuinely am grateful to you for carrying me through my biggest fear and appreciate the patience I can feel you have towards me... I know I'm not always faithful and consistent as you are but your unwavering love for me is out of this world!

I need to talk to you about Nosipho, I truly regret initiating a relationship with her... It's just so unfair to her for me to suddenly lose interest 💔. I think I've always known I'm not that into her but I hoped I'd grow more indepth feelings for her which is really not materializing. I really do love and care about her generally as a fellow human being however... I'm just beyond depleted as a girlfriend towards her... And quiet frankly I realise that I would like to be in a relationship but not with her....also i think I should not rush to be in one becsuse I genuinely don't want to break anyone's heart or mind be broken unnecessarily.

I don't know if it's too soon for me to tell you about Don. 😝Shes gorgeous and seems like a genuinely wholesome person... I know the distance is literally something that keeps following me...but I think I do have an interest in her,but you know us lesbians, things implode too quickly... I wouldn't be shocked if I'm here next time telling you of how she's a thing of the past 🤦

I'm however hoping for a different outcome. I have a few fears about her though,

1. She's a Tik Tok sensation, I mean she doesn't necessarily have a huge following but it seems like she's sociable and the idea of my partner being accessible is wild for me😭😭 lol but the irony is that if she wasn't I probably wouldn't have met her.

3.She is so beautiful omw she reminds me of Sam in so many ways.... That's scary... Xhosa women have a very strong pulll factor. Also I don't want to feel as though I'm trying to replace Sam by perusing people similar to her... Although it's not the case.

3. She seems like a social butterfly... I really hope she does have an element of being a home body 😢

4. Am I wild to write about a literal stranger moments after talking to her... Hardly even for a while.

5.She lives 18 hours away from me, 😭yet another distance dilemma, omw dating her if it happens will be so expensive... Money I truly don't have.... But if it happens we will figure it out.

6.Will She like me? Like truly be into me fully? She seems to have an upbeat personality.... I'm also wildly dominant. But I'm soooo happy I'm the one who took interest first.

Lol ok IL leave it there for now. But I hope we can talk some more and figure something out.

I also would like an increase in my Salary, I need more money to take care of my needs and my family. I would really appreciate a of a salary increase or a new job completely. Anything works....

I remain grateful though for your favor.... Entirely so.

Please help my younger sister to deliver a healthy baby and for her delivery to be safe and all to remain well.

No but do you think that if shikamaru found his obsession as a teen and ino and his other friends caught on to his little crush, do you think that everytime his crush was in their vicinity, his friends would go 👀👀😏😏

Ino would literally never let him live it down. She would tease him about his obsession until the day she died.

Shikamaru loves being around his obsession, but damn he hates when anyone else is around his obsession, because the teasing never stops.

Whether it's his father's knowing smirks, Ino's blatant inappropriate questioning and eyebrow waggling, Asuma's laughter or Naruto's attempt at talking Shika up/ roasting him (unclear which one he's trying to do), he hates it all.

Case in point:

[Shikamaru's obsession walks into a restaurant where Shikamaru and his team are eating. They're only there to drop something off with a friend, but on their way out, they spot Shika and send him a smile, lighting his face up in a blush and rendering him incapable of speech or movement for a few seconds]

[At a group training session, his 'lovely' friends organise it so that Shikamaru has to spar with his obsession. The longer they pin him, the more... interested... he gets and he throws himself off the ground and flees the training ground]

Back on to Carlos 😝 he clearly wanted more than just casual with Tk right from the very start butttt what do you think it was about Tk that made Carlos feel this way? Especially if we’re going for the headcon that Carlos was only interested in guys casually before Tk and avoided anything serious because he didn’t want to end up having to introduce a guy/boyfriend to his parents (maybe he has dated more seriously but the fact he didn’t want to introduce the boyfriend at the time to his parents kinda fucked that all up also?) but still also avoided introducing Tk to his parents even though him and Tk were meant to be in a serious relationship 😬 I don’t know how Carlos thought Tk would just let that go LOL

I mean, you've seen TK. He's a ten. Also, I think TK was different from anyone Carlos has ever really known. There's a fascination in this man who is proudly out in his firehouse, works with his dad who seems to be proud of him, a guy that Carlos has to chase a little-because you've seen Carlos, he's also a ten, and I don't think he's used to doing a ton of chasing. He's into TK from early on, with the call me, followed by the one am dinner. And then he gets this other side of TK, a grumpy, wet, feral cat dropped in his precinct and Carlos tries to tell himself that he doesn't like or want this man sitting in the chair pouting, but he does. He wants to know more than just TK's name and what he does. He doesn't want TK doing things that count as suicidal, and he Carlos cleans the blood off his face before he moves to ask him out. I think TK is the first person Carlos can't look away from and I think he doesn't know why. One of my favorite gifs/beats is Carlos and TK waiting to take Paul out. There's a moment while TK is talking and Carlos turns to look at TK and he looks at TK like he hung the moon. And it's so very clear that he cares deeply about this man. The show sets up some character beats in season one that are essential to this. TK cares about his father and his friends and his job, and I think Carlos, the kind of man whose stuck by Michelle through all of the Iris nonsense, who hides himself away for his parent's comfort, who stays up late on cases that bother him, would see that TK shares his core values, even if he approaches them differently. I think for Carlos this is huge.

But at this point I think they’re both terrified to name it as anything more. And then the shooting happens, while Carlos is in his squad car out front, and eventually he ends up at the hospital, with his uniform just barely disheveled by the top button being unbuttoned, and he FEELS things. STRONG FEELINGS. Feelings he didn’t expect to have because he’s NEVER felt this way.

And then, we get Carlos in a relationship, a serious one. Where he hangs out with his partner’s parents enough to comment on their relationship and where he has his partner’s friends/coworkers over to his house in the middle of a pandemic so they can all hang out, and he enmeshes himself in TK’s life, and yet he keeps part of himself separate. Because Carlos is very good at compartmentalizing his feelings and lying to himself, and hoping if he just AVOIDS it long enough it will go away. He’s been avoiding dealing with his parent’s feelings about his sexuality since he was 17. He avoids introducing TK to them because he’s terrified that they’ll make him feel the way Carlos feels, and that he’ll lose TK in the process. He’s...GOD, I love his little control freak self so much. He thinks if he carefully arranges things, he can have his life carefully controlled and it doesn’t work. But he wants it to work.  Avoiding as a strategy to soothe anxiety isn’t about thinking it will actually work, it’s about putting it off until you have a solution that you think will work, because you know it’s not going away, but maybe tomorrow the answer will present itself. And you keep doing that until it blows up in your face. One day I will write a whole thing about my anxious, control-freak boys and how they blow up their whole lives by pretending things aren’t happening.

I’ve noticed it’s been a hot minute since you updated your The Thotty Aang Agenda fic. I’ll be honest that not all the ships in there are ones I’m willing to read (it’s literally Aang x everybody lol 😆), but I know it’s a fic you’re excited about and proud of, so here’s a bit of inspiration if you’re looking for it:

While visiting Sokka and Suki on Kyoshi Island, Aang discovers a…certain object (hint: it’s a strap 😏) among Avatar Kyoshi’s personal artifacts. He’s shocked (but not that shocked), and when he goes to show Sokka and Suki, Kyoshi takes over through the Avatar State. I can imagine that the rest is pretty self-explanatory… 😜

Just an idea in case you need some motivation!

Coloring process on Poppulaura

I managed to take pics of a coloring process this time if anyone is interested.

1. Outlines( I would have took pics of the sketch but I forgot)

2. Poppy’s skin, specifically the shadows. I don’t have the greatest variety of marker colors so I usually have to blend the colors I want with a light and a dark color, in this case a magenta color and a hot pink color. Here I’m using the darker magenta color first.

3. Now I’m going back over her skin with the hot pink color and blending in the areas I want to be Blended more such as cheeks and the tips of the ears. I’m also coloring any light pink parts in the picture, except for I forgot Poppy’s arms but I did it later.

4. Coloring all the pink hair shadows and any other magenta parts.

5. Next I use light and medium gray markers for shadows on eyes, teeth/fangs and skirt and white parts.

6. I like to add a bit of light blue when I color white clothing or fur, so I added it here on her clothing just a smidge 😝.

7. Then I blend it together with the light gray(biege really) marker. Also added some medium gry over top of Poppy's arms and legs to make it look like nylon or netting.

8. Black marker next, add all the black shading. Now I probably could’ve stopped around this step for her hair, but it was a bit too shiny for my style.

9. Blending, now I normally use light blue marker to go back over the highlights and my black shading but Draculaura’s has slight pink highlights in hair black hair so I used a light pink marker instead of light blue but I still use light blue for the highlights on the shoes.

10. Final step. Highlights and details(or touch ups if needed) I use a white prismacolor pencil for doing highlights and aiding in blending. I also use a white gel pen for things I want to extra pop like eyes or metallic things or Poppy’s glitter freckles.

Done! If anyone is wondering the markers I’m using here are Zig clean color real brush.
