Medusa was always a monster. Ares was probably one of the most devoted to his children and was scapegoated and hated by his father. Athena did not curse Medusa or Arachne. but at LEAST from what I can remember he was at least a bit more faithful to the Arachne myth from Roman Myths in the books than he was Medusa. Despite all the horrible shit Zeus did in the Myths, he was an incredibly important God and was a purveyor of law, order and justice

cultural context surrounding the Myths is actually so important to understanding them as a Whole and getting an accurate portrayal and framework around the Gods of ancient greece

like I GET that it's a """modern adaptation""" but it's also how you further spread defamation and misinformation of the gods and the culture they derived from. if you're gonna make an adaptation at least keep to the original GREEK stories and put in the cultural context surrounding it

there are still people who worship these gods. there are people who have dedicated their entire academic lives to preserving and studying the myths and cultures around them

it is possible to keep true to the myths and create an adaptation around it
