Thinking of a modern AU when the kids get to be kids after it's all over and they go to the movies, they play games, hang out, all that. And of course, Steve drives them everywhere. He vouches for them in front of their parents, watches them like a hawk, tries to tell them about the adult stuff he's learned so far and chases Robin and Nancy to give them info on uni application and the things he feels he's too dumb for. Still, when Robin and Nancy are away and one of his kids needs something, he'll grab that legal document and either stare at it long enough to get a migraine or begins hounding the smart people who stayed in Hawkins (Mr. Clarke is Steve's go-to person and Mr. Clarke won't say it, but he's so proud of Harrington's progress).
So, Steve's life is basically nonstop work and babysitting (with lots of complaints and grumbling from the teens), they ask him to drive them somewhere and he'll bitch about it, sure, but he will get up after 4 hours of sleep and do it anyways. Dustin often reprimands Steve for not taking care of his health, but he doesn't see why.
When Encanto comes out, El really, really wants to see it, and how can Steve say no to her? He drives the whole gang to the movie theatre (some of them stacked on top of each other, some in the trunk on a pile of blankets) and decides to join them. He doesn't really like animated stuff, but Robin loves these movies and he wants yet another reason to call her and talk through the night.
He didn't expect to enjoy the movie so much, but it's colorful and catchy. The songs are nice and the characters are relatable. He makes a lot of mental notes to discuss with Robin. He thinks she will love Mirabel.
And then "Surface Pressure" starts playing and Steve wonders why he suddenly feels like crying. "I'm pretty sure I'm worthless if I can't be of service" hits especially hard. He's just sitting there and feeling incredibly stupid for tearing up at flying glitter-covered donkeys.
When they leave the movie theater, everyone is pretty excited and discussing which characters and songs they liked the most (even if some feel like rolling their eyes at a kids' movie, El's excitement stops them from doing that). They all start discussing to who they relate the most, El feels with Mirabel for being left out and different, even if she actually is the only one who has a gift, Will dares to utter that he really sympathizes with Dolores, Dustin loves Bruno for trying to fix the cracks in Casita.
And then they turn to Steve and someone makes a jab at him, saying he resembles Mariano the most. Steve is ready to shrug it off, there's some truth in that with what happened to his relationship with Nancy, but El just shakes her head and says: "No. Steve is our Luisa."
Everyone goes silent. There's a lot of hmmming and "well, he did get up to drive us when he had a night shift..." and "we could have just biked...". Steve tries to make them feel better about it, joking that he really has nothing better to do, but the drive home is full of whispering, and the party actually diligently thank him when they leave his car.
The next day is Sunday and Steve is ready for his usual routine, making himself busy until someone needs something. But there's a knock on the door to his small apartment and when he opens it, he sees his group of kids, proudly presenting a tray of muffins and two cartons of orange juice.
Out of all of them, it's Mike who speaks up. "Nancy said you often forget to eat breakfast," he states in his usual annoyed tone. "She also said that you like chocolate muffins, so we are here to ensure you don't die from hunger. Now move, I'll get the glasses and plates."
Steve just watches in awe as they swarm his flat, Will smiling at him and producing a DVD of the latest Spider-man movie. "This one was a tip from Robin, she says you haven't seen it yet."
Max is standing in the kitchenette with her cane, watching the pile of meds Steve has to take after his injuries with disdain. "This has to take forever for you to find what you need. Don't argue, I remember how shitty it was for me. Let me help you build a chart and thank me later."
El and Lucas are rearranging Steve's couch and placing pillows in front of the TV so everyone can sit comfortably. El also ensures the blinds are closed so Steve's eyes don't have to fight against the light.
And if that all wasn't more care than Steve has known in years, Dustin grabs his elbow and sits him down, threatening him with violence if he even thinks about working on Sunday.
As the opening titles start, Steve is surrounded by six teenagers in his tiny and cheap flat, chewing on a subpar muffin with an orange juice that probably never saw the actual fruit, and he thinks that there's no greater happiness than this.

I remember seeing something in your tags where you said you had a few ideas for episodes for the Encanto series. Do you mind sharing them with me? if you want of course. (I've already written the basic premise for seasons 1-4 but I'm happy to hear any ideas you got)
ooh of course! these are just some brainstormed thoughts nothing substantial but
- mirabel gets her new room (because we didn’t see it in the movie)
- julieta cooking with her daughters as a bonding exercise
- bruno goes out into the town with his sisters and they talk to the townspeople about everything
- mirabels having nightmares/flashbacks of casita falling on her and starts thinking there’s cracks everywhere
- antonio and Dolores doing literally anything I love them
- alma falls back into old habits but the family’s there to steer her in the right direction
- luisa gets a fun part in her room! (Based on the concept art)
- the husbands + bruno have a boys night out !
- isa and Dolores have a heart to heart when they plan to spend the day together
- camilo and Bruno put on a play for the whole community and the whole family helps!
- pepa brings bruno around to try new things since he’s missed so much
- madrigal grandkids have a sleepover
- triplets flashback to when they first get their gifts and it’s the first week of absolute CHAOS in the encanto
- day of little candles themed ep where alma and the family go to the river and alma tells them all about pedro (maybe a flashback to life before dos oruguitas)
- isabela adjusting to her new identity and the villagers still subconsciously think of her as her “perfect” version
- someones birthday and the family throw the best party ever
- mirabel and bruno reflect on what’s changed and how the future can be scary
- this one’s entirely self indulgent but mirabel goes to the local seamstress to get advice and ends up being taken on board as an assistant
- camilo and Marco get all the town kids to partake in the ultimate encanto football match
- luisa having a day off where the family do everything for her (she deserves it)
- christmas ep because why not!
- flashback to grandkids as younger for some preteen Dolores and isa moments
- antonio starts school and is super nervous and struggles a bit but he has his family for support
- mirabel not being used to having attention on her all the time and feeling like she has to live up to new expectations because she’s “the miracle” (this isn’t her being a leader or anything this is literally just her brain assuming they expect stuff from her)
- triplets bday!! (Can be from any time)
- mirabel and Antonio have a picnic
- Dolores and Mariano get a date set up for them by camilo
- madrigal sisters talk about their feelings from when mirabel went missing
- agustin and julieta have an anniversary coming up so agustin wants to make it the most special ever (shenanigans insue)
- pepa and felix go out for the night and pepa is insanely talented on the dance floor
- all the parents go away and Bruno is left to babysit
- isabela wants to make some friends after not having many due to her wanting to keep up appearances
- Dolores wants a new outfit and goes to mirabel for help
- luisa stands up to the donkey man
- julieta and alma moments
I cant think of more on the spot so if anyone wants to leave suggestions in comments!

I want you to be the one ... || Lando Norris 4
I'm in a drabble mood! Finally something's out again, sorry to make you wait so long. I just wanted to write something, because I feel like I haven't written in ages because life's being a bitch right now. Anyway, who's also down for some DJ Lando stuff, because lately, damn. Not proofread!!!
Masterlist
Tumblr media
DJ-ing, one of Lando Norris’ new hobbies ever since he and Martin Garix crossed paths after the Dutch Grand Prix. A DJ set for on the road became his new favorite occupation during long flights. The remaining time he’d spend listening to music, scrolling through Instagram, watching YouTube videos.
It was after the Austin Grand Prix where the two of you met, him entertaining the crowd with his music. You are sipping your drink, watching the crowd from the VIP area you were standing at.
You were a singer, not big, yet, but you were working on it. You had just released your first album, and you felt your fandom growing, as well as your name. You had been invited to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, which you gladly accepted, being a Formula One fan yourself.
You raised your drink up in the air, dancing along the music the McLaren driver was blasting through the boxes, the crowd cheering at all the songs. Martijn was watching you, since you were one of his close friends as well. He saw how you were enjoying your time, a proud smile on his face. He had watched you grow, from a young girl that loved to sing, to a woman that was slowly becoming one of the best artists in the world.
‘’What?’’ You were eyeing the Dutch DJ, an eyebrow raised as a smirk appeared on your lips. ‘’Nothing, just glad to see you’re enjoying your time here.’’ He smiled back, winking at you before taking the wheel from Lando.
You and Lando had met just before the party, since he arrived just as you and Martijn were talking. You couldn’t lie, the guy was handsome, sexy even, and him being a DJ and interested in music made you like the driver even more.
‘’That was a hell of a session.’’ You shot a nice smile to the 22-year-old Formula One driver, receiving a mischievous smirk in return. ‘’Thanks, I learned from the best.’’
The rest of the night consisted of dancing, drinking, and being a little too close to the Brit, which you didn’t really mind, and neither did he.
‘’We shouldn’t let anyone find out about this.’’ You whispered; lips pressed against Lando’s as he pushed you against the wall. For sure the both of you had a little too much to drink, causing you to end up in his bed in his room of the Hilton Hotel.
‘’I know, they won’t...’’ He mumbled as his hands moved their way up, quickly taking off your clothes because they had been on your body long enough according to the McLaren driver.
You had kept in contact but promised to not tell anyone about your little hook up, not even Martijn. However, it never stayed with just one hook up. The both of you saw it as a way to relax, and it definitely helped both teams.
Lando was more relaxed at the track, even when people threw hate at him, mostly online. Ever since his breakup with Luisa he had changed, in a good way, according to you. He was more relaxed, more open for new things, spending more time with his friends and just generally happier. The hookups the two of you had just expanded those feelings.
You were also more relaxed going into stressful meetings about your new album, a possible upcoming tour and more PR related things such as interviews and talk shows.
It was at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix when you saw him again, dressed in his race suit, the black fireproof top doing his golden tan good justice. His curly hair quite messy, due to the high humidity at the track, it only made you think of moments you were the one to be responsible for the messy hair, and not the weather. You bite your bottom lip at the image, and simply take a deep breath to shake those thoughts out of your mind.
The day went by quickly, and you hadn’t gotten the chance to talk to Lando a lot due to the fact he was quite busy. It was only at the after party when you got the chance to talk to the P3 man himself.
‘’Congrats on your podium.’’ You embraced the Brit in a hug, the scent of his Dior Sauvage perfume filling your nostrils immediately. God, so good.
‘’Thanks, glad to have you here to witness that.’’ He smiled, his hand moving towards your lower back to guide you to the VIP area of the party.
‘’Let’s make this party one to remember.’’
‘’Definitely.’’
After a few too many drinks, you and Lando found yourself in a familiar situation, tangled up with each other, hands all over each other, lips smashing together. But that’s it, nothing more than kisses and cuddles, no sex.
‘’I’ve been wanting to ask you something.’’ He whispered in between kisses, making you pull him even closer to you.
‘’Couldn’t you’ve done that when we were both sober?’’ You groaned as your hands cupped his cheeks, your lips disconnecting so you could look into his eyes.
‘’I don’t know if I would have the guts to do it sober.’’ He slurred, a sigh escaping his lips, followed by his tongue wetting his perfectly swollen lips.
‘’Lando…’’ You whispered, not actually believing what was happening right now. ‘’No, please let me finish.’’ He says, his hand raising, index finger sticking up to place it against your lips.
‘’I have been thinking for a while now, and I’m sure now, I think.’’ He started. ‘’I want to take things to the next level, you know? I’ve been doing it for a while now and I want you to be a part of this journey with me.’’ He mumbled, his finger still in front of your lips.
‘’I want you to be the one, I want to make a remix of a song of yours.’’ He then says, smiling up at you. You did the same, a big smile making him remove his index finger for it to be replaced with his lips.
‘’Yes, that would be freaking awesome.’’ You whispered against his soft lips. ‘’Hopefully we’ll remember this deal tomorrow morning.’’ You mumbled as your hands reached for his hair.
‘’Oh trust me, I’ll remember.’’ And this was just the beginning, the beginning of a partnership, and not just in the studio.

For the Android AU (the one where Luisa gains sentience):
Isabela was made for decoration purposes. Sit still, look pretty, and maybe hold flowers if you're good. She got bored, however, and ran away from her mistress for a new life. Now, she either makes weapons that look like ornamental stuff (fans with razor tips, lasers hidden in brooches, a metal rose with thorns that hold poison) or grows plants for her greenhouse. Maybe she does both.
Dolores is a spy android who doesn't want to invade anyone's privacy, so she tries to find a way out. Eventually, she finds out about the "Gentle Giant" and the "Rosebud Mechanic" (Rosebud is Isabela's brand of android) so she slips away to find them. As a spy robot, nobody notices or cares that she's gone.
Camilo is a jester android, able to modify his features to look like anybody for entertainment. His mistress is caught in the crossfire between two androids, so he tries to join them. Luckily, one of the two was Dolores, and she welcomes him to find his calling.
Mirabel is an android that had been thrown out because of a glitch she had. Nobody's entirely sure what sort of android she was before (SPOILER: SHE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A NANNY BUT THE FAMILY DIDN'T LIKE HER), but it soon became clear: it wasn't a glitch, it was a benefit. Rather than only focusing on one thing, she's a jack-of-all-trades. She can embroider, sing, dance, and more!
Antonio is Isabela's pet project, literally. She originally wanted to make a robotic animal, but she found that putting the software in a humanoid shell was more helpful. To pay homage to her original idea, she made Antonio a robotic jaguar companion. They have been inseparable from the day Antonio was booted up.
Android brand names:
Isabela: Rosebud
Dolores: Eyewall
Luisa: Donkytonk
Camilo: Shifta
Mirabel: Mariposa
WOAHHHH OK. Loving all the types of androids and what they do. Honestly Mirabel being a jack of all trades is so real. She was probably trying to do the job of other androids rather than just babysitting/watching kids and they thought it was a glitch. Shout out to Isabela for dipping when she had the chance, same with Camilo. Dolores and Luisa for helping everybody (better than Marcus did...) ❗❓also Antonio. Very cool. Humanoid she’ll probably came from one those android models, you know like how Alice was a kid model??? Probably one of those. Also Parce mentioned‼️‼️
Also the names are so silly. But like in a good way.

i know you are in your Wish Criticism and Analysis Era (love to see it, very interesting takes!!), but i was wondering if you could spare some thought as to why you thought that the moral/lesson of Encanto was not great? in my eyes, it was always mostly about forgiving and moving past generational trauma... even if the movie didn't fully execute on that hah
I can try! I haven't gone over it in my brain in a while. Sometimes answering questions helps me verbally do it, though.
I guess I should clarify. The message in Encanto isn't outright evil...it's just a little tricky to try and teach in the story that they used, without also saying a bunch of stuff that is problematic. I'll try to explain.
The main point in Encanto seems to be something like: "You don't have to be perfect: just being yourself is special enough."
Easy enough. When anyone in the Madrigal family tries to meet Abuela's super-high standards, it turns out to be hurtful. The more Pepita holds her emotions in, the more tense and stressed she gets. The more Luisa tries to carry, the more tense and stressed she gets.
But the problem is, the movie so often gets TOO CLOSE to portraying the opposite of "just being yourself is special enough" as "give your life for others." It tiptoes too close toward the "self-focus is beneficial" line.
The Madrigal family occupation, the thing Abuela is pushing them all too hard to do, is not something bad. She wants them to use their gifts to help others. But Abuela is a (sympathetic) antagonist in the movie.
And it's explained. You feel for her. She apologizes and there's forgiveness, like you said--I'm just saying, it's tiptoeing up to a line that isn't always the most responsible line to show to kids, in a kids' movie. Kids do not generally need help questioning whether or not their parents are being too controlling, or too pushy, or wanting too much--kids usually already lean too far in that direction on their own.
But like. The problem is, there's an equal-opposite lesson each of the character could learn that I think is better for kids, when they're kids.
Pepita should be free to feel, genuinely --> yeah, but Pepita also shouldn't let her emotions get so out of control that they hurt others.
Luisa shouldn't be expected to carry every family burden --> No, but in general it's a good thing to "bear one another's burdens in love" and do whatever you can to help, even if it's heavy.
Isabella shouldn't have to act happy & pretty constantly, and marry for the good of others --> Of course not, but it is good to be able to find joy and act genuinely joyful in all circumstances.
Mirabel shouldn't have to have the same level of accomplishments and abilities as everyone else in order to feel loved --> No, she shouldn't at all, but also, it is never a good idea to say to yourself "there's no room for improvement in me because I'm already enough and perfect; no flaws that need apologizing for or changing."
Abuela shouldn't focus so much on controlling what her family does even if it's for their own good --> No, absolutely not, but in general, an older woman who guides and teaches her family on how to selflessly serve others is considered wise, not controlling.
Bruno shouldn't have to only tell people what they want to hear to be accepted --> no, obviously not, but he shouldn't be so constantly negative that he's causing everyone around him to be anxious (I know that simplifying it because he had a literal power to explain the future and they asked him to, but I'm talking about the lessons kids could glean.)
And that's my main beef (it's not even that big a beef; I thought Encanto was so well-done.) My main beef is that it's a movie kids will be influenced by, but the themes and lessons are really more helpful for an audience of college or even high-school-aged people. People who are old enough to have that level of discernment to say:
"Yeah, it's good that Abuela is trying to teach her family to be selfless and safe, but she goes too far by being fearful and controlling; yeah, it's good to control your emotions, but not if you go so far that you're not allowed to be vulnerable at all; yeah, it's good to want to help others by lending your strength to share their loads, but not if you go so far that you get your sense of worth from your success; yeah, it's good to stay positive and be a light to others, but not if you go too far and become a faker; yeah, it's good to be able to recognize your flaws, but not if you get your sense of worth from making up for them."
Those are the sort of sub-lessons Encanto teaches: "don't make decisions based out of fear (fear that you're losing your worth, your identity, your loved ones, your future, the love of others.)"
I'm just saying, kids aren't going to be able to pick those sub-lessons out as easily. What will probably stick with them is the idea of grandmother = wrong; spending your life helping others = stressed and losing your superpowers etc.
But ultimately, it's a movie with a lot of heart, and this idea of grace and unconditional love, so it is not a big mistake or a loss or anywhere near what I'd rank Turning Red and Wish. It's just a little...reckless for a kid's movie. 🤷‍♀️

I just came up with this slightly angsty but sweet idea about the platonic yandere madrigal family obsessing over a reader that's the child of Bruno.
-Pepa, Julieta and Alma would all be the most protective over them, especially if they looked identical to Bruno.
-Dolores and Mirabel would without a doubt be the best friends of them, Mirabel would know what it's like to feel like an outcast since the people most likely aren't treating the reader very well due to their relation to Bruno. I imagine Dolores would definitely be a great best friend too, she hears everything people say or murmur about them so I imagine she'd be painfully aware of how the people treat reader. Since she's also a platonic yandere in this like the rest of the family I can totally see her blackmailing people with stuff she's heard about them whenever they talk crap about reader.
-Dolores would definitely also be the one to comfort Reader as she can hear their crying from how they're treated every night.
-Bruno would definitely watch over his child in secret, he'd never want to miss even a second of their life
-Julieta would definitely fuss over their injuries, even if it's something like a paper cut. So would Alma and Pepa.
-Isabela would without a doubt nonchalantly roast the crap out of anybody that dares to to think it's a good idea to talk crap about you to her. She'd do it with a tone in her voice that says "I'm better than you and you should know that" all the while subtly roasting them in the process. They'd never recover from it lmao
-Camilo would definitely do his best to make them laugh whenever they're feeling down, he'd shapeshift into various people and do funny impressions of them
-Antonio would be absolutely adorable, he'd totally get his animals to comfort Reader whenever they're feeling down, too.
-I can see Luisa just randomly picking up reader whenever there's a puddle so they won't have to step in the puddle lol.

any guesses as to how max and lando both wound up sick. just curious.
[cn: cheating]
"You haven't sucked me off for ages," Lando pouts. Max nearly chokes on his mouthful of avocado toast.
"Mate." His ears are turning pink, he can't look at Pietra. "What the fuck."
"Well it's true, you haven't." Lando says it primly, goes back to demolishing some poached eggs with gay - literally - abandon. Like he hasn't just derailed Max's life for the fiftieth and possibly worst time this week.
He's going to have to do it at some point so he glances round at Pietra, who at least doesn't look completely disgusted with him, just like she's contemplating ways to kill Lando. Which he's fully onboard with, actually. It could be a new date concept, if Lando's going to insist on coming along.
"No, I haven't," is all he can muster as a response.
-
The thing is. The thing is that Max knows he's being a little bit of a hypocrite on a whole bunch of levels. Because he used to come on all Lando and Luisa's dates and fill in all the ways Lando's a rubbish boyfriend by being a better one and she didn't seem to mind that Lando just doesn't count sleeping with Max as anything, so they'd carried on doing it. Max is also pretty good at being Lando's boyfriend, in terms of getting him to act normally.
But Max should've known it wasn't going to work the other way around. He'd been so careful to keep them separated, at first. Partly out of fear Pietra would realise he's very much not an F1 driver and realise she could do better but much more out of knowing this wasn't going to go down well with either of them. It's a hard sell "hey can my best friend, who's chronically weird, hang out with us all the time and also sometimes he has to spoon me for emotional support."
He's tried to find things in it for Pietra but she could go to Monaco anyway and have a more normal time. She's not that keen on coming to grand prix, although he thinks she would if it was his racing and let's not take that train of thought too far to the depression station.
And Lando can't act normal about him and Max doesn't want him to. Was maybe trying to provoke this by getting a girlfriend in the first place - which isn't fair, that's not why he's dating her, it's just that something makes him want Lando's attention as much as Lando wants to give it to him and if they could ever just make that work they'd probably be a lot more normal.
The problem, really, is that Lando feels much more like forever than his girlfriend does. Which is pretty cursed, especially when he's openly sabotaging Max in the middle of brunch.
-
She doesn't bring it up with him, probably because there's nothing to talk about. Max had caved under about one minute of scrutiny from her about the nature of his relationship to Lando and then promised they weren't like that anymore and then slept with Lando the second he touched down in Nice.
Which is bad. He knows it's bad. He objectively knows this is bad boyfriend stuff and he doesn't want to be that, he wants to make things work and be in love and get married and have kids. Be normal - except that he can't.
It's like the stupid mess in his brain. He could just not have whatever makes him demotivated and mopey for days on end and it'd be better. Simpler, at least. Make more sense for the way his life's supposed to be going but instead he's had Lando fussing over him for a week because Max accidentally said some depressed stuff even though he'd been pretending that wasn't really going on anymore and now Lando's trying to add every possible enrichment to his enclosure.
Which is how they've ended up in Max's bedroom, Lando's hair freshly clipped and stream done, with Lando trying to get his cock in Max's mouth.
"Will you," he bats Lando's hand away from his hair, "just stay still and let me do this?"
"I'm trying to help." Lando sounds way too aggrieved for a man about to get a blow job. "It's been so long maybe you've forgotten how to - ah"
Max hums, knowing how good that feels when someone's got their mouth round your dick and then relaxes his throat, leans into it. Feels himself drooling on Lando's dick at the same time as Lando settles back into the mattress, sighs out how much he's enjoying it.
"Ah, that's so good - you're so good."
It's embarrassing how easily taken apart Max is by the praise.
Lando's fingers thread through his hair and he doesn't fight it, this time. "I missed you, baby," Max groans at the nickname, dick twitching. "I missed this, missed us."
It's a good job there's a dick halfway down Max's throat so he can't say anything stupid like 'me too, buddy.'
Lando's leaking already, messy in Max's mouth when he swipes his tongue over the head, lapping at it. He always gets so needy for it, whimpering and whining and pushing his hips up in desperate little circles - it's like the opposite of the way he fucks Max, all deliberateness. Like this he's just a helpless kitten, biting his own fist to try and stifle the noises he's making.
Max pulls off for a second, strokes Lando's hip, when he's getting really desperate. "It's ok," he says, trying to guide Lando, get him to turn the overwhelming sensation into a conclusion and Lando just whimpers again, biting his lip.
He comes into Max's mouth a minute later, back arching and Max lies down, head on Lando's tummy, to kiss his heaving abs afterwards. Lando pulls him up after a minute, holds him and Max's erection isn't so urgent he can't enjoy it for awhile.
When Lando returns the favour, chaotically sucking Max's balls while he's jacking him off, it doesn't take long either for Max to come or for the guilt to sink in. He can't come up with an excuse for why he can't stop doing this, only the inevitability that he won't.
-
They both claim their sore throats are from golfing or the rain or hayfever or something. Lando smuggles Max back to Monte Carlo two days later and fucks him in every room.

How the family is doing now? (In between of the time since the reunion with dads and return to Encanto) How long is it going to be before they find Bruno?
A bit better.
They (Pepa, Isabela, Dolores and Luisa) give up their life of crime. Mirabel celebrates more than she did on her actually birthday. Isabela and Pepa are a bit regretful initially but do get over it. Luisa is too traumatised. And Dolores isn’t too bothered by the whole thing.
Pepa and Félix get remarried in Bogotá - or redo their vows anyways. Just for the hell of it. (Luisa and Agustín don’t attend, due to someone’s trauma). The other girls attend.
Mirabel learns more about her gift. It is quite an invasive gift and obviously she isn’t going to use it without permission. Isabela offers herself up for Mirabel to test with. She also frequently lets Mirabel use her mind as an escape from the onslaught of stuff in her own head, as and when she needs too.
Luisa slowly gets into a good sleep schedule, which helps her. She is still kept away from coffee (which she obviously wasn’t given in the centre) just in case it makes it difficult for her to sleep.
They find Bruno within a little over two months.
Pepa is the one who finds him. He tries to reconcile but she’s not having it. She does invite him to dinner one night, with obviously the intention of using him to get home to her mother and son.

Heyo guys!
Since my friend made a post about it, I figured I should make a separate post of it as well that could hopefully grab the attention of more of you out there. Especially since it's now not only become a recurrent issue for myself, but millions others like me; whose voices and pleas for help are often met with silence and no aid when it's needed more than ever.
My friend made this with the hopes it would get the attention of a lot of people. And the few that have so far responded, with boosting my signal, it's truly appreciated.
So, I figured I'd best give my story here.
For those who know me, they know that I've been through this before, not that long ago. For those that don't:
This isn't my first rodeo with my dad. This isn't his first offense, and I doubt it'll be his last. But, even my boyfriend commented that it's really like I'm Cinderella.
Which, would make my family Lady Tremaine and her daughters, Anastasia and Drizella.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Surprised?
Yeah, not the most fun people to have in your life as family, let alone be analogous to your own.
But, for at least my brother on the matter, he doesn't mean to intentionally be cruel- if anything, he is just trying to survive from becoming the next target. Which, I get entirely. I oftentimes do the same for when a fight breaks out between my bio father and my stepmom.
But, that's besides the point-- the fact that they are even akin to that family dynamic is absolutely atrocious.
I'm often seen as a black sheep in my nuclear family- a dark horse, a scapegoat, pariah, outcast; hell, I'm almost synonymous to fucking Bruno Madrigal from Encanto, with a little bit of even Luisa for that matter with how bad her anxiety is.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sure, that sounds pretty awful, but that's like, a surface-level perspective of who I am and what I've been through. And I'm not gonna give you my whole life story here, but, as my grandma would always famously say:
Tumblr media
So, here are the said facts (bullets are Bruno related, indents are Cinderella)-
People used to see me as a gifted child when I was little, y'know? Like, my talents had no bounds. My way of being so empathetic and friendly to even the most awkward stranger was renowned by my extended family. I was awkward with communication, and often was very blunt but honest when talking to people, but I was a happy kid. And it's not like I'm not seen for my talents now, but they're brushed to the side more now as an adult because "you can't be living in a fantasy".
Since my dad and stepmom started living together, I've been made to become the maid of the house, doing most chores because the boys won't do it and my stepmom is incapable of handling all the chores and dishes on her own, so she's dumped most things onto me as a "way of covering for part of your rent". Which, I still have to pay upwards of 660-880 a month for. For one small room and a bathroom. For wifi use. And I still have other bills to pay, like for my car, insurance, credit cards, and stuff like that.
It wasn't until I was starting in my teens that my dad saw me very differently. I would often lie to try and keep the peace, because I feared that telling the truth would only hurt everyone more.
I started failing in math; I never got a grade higher than a C-average after sixth grade, because the teacher that year not only made me look like an idiot, but several times painted me as a villain and treated me like I was evil. Simply for standing up for myself amongst a group of classmates who would often bully me
I have little to no privacy in my own room. The only time I do is when I sleep, and that's even temporary at best. My father will routinely inspect my room and if it's not meeting his standards, he has me clean it or threatens kicking me out onto the street because he won't let me live in this house if I can't "do what I am required to do in order to keep living here" shit I wish I actually wish I had recorded him saying fr
He's taken off my door several times in the past as a punishment for not "adhering to his rules"- not okay as a teenager, even more not okay as a fucking twenty-four year old adult
(literal screenshots from conversations with my dad below)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My bio dad started seeing me less as an honest and good person, because during my sixth grade years and beyond I'd struggle with being honest with myself, let alone my parents, about my personal and educational issues.
I've had to be the one to call out when things aren't right, and be shut down for it. I've been the one to call out my family's bullshit, only to get side-swept with the realization my perception of how they treat me is cuz they do believe something is inherently wrong with me for retaliating.
I'm often accused of mishearing things- like, my parents will say one thing, and then the next day, or weeks or months later, when I repeat that statement, they go and say "Oh, I never said that."
I've walked out of my parents' lives once. It only lasted two weeks, but I did have to take a step back from it all. Because I could see what it was doing to everyone in my family. And I love my family, despite their shit. But that doesn't mean I'm not gonna walk out again- in fact, I'm working on a way to do so.
I relate more to pets and small children and even teens than I do older people.
I still have anxieties and fears over my talents and what I'm capable of, thinking I'm not good enough or that it's just the same old thing. The difference is I know it's not, and I know I'm worth more than this.
I have always liked the color green, and it was always a more mysterious color more than an evil or menacing color.
I often have had foresight of future events and get deja by when they do happen. Though, other times I just notice things going awry and I try to warn others of like, a possibility that they don't want to accept.
I lost friends and people who I actually enjoyed being around because of how I was growing up, and it was until I became an adult that part of it wasn't even my fault. A lot of the kids noticed my parents and didn't want to be around that kind of behavior with adults, because they could sense what I couldn't at the time, which was that my parents' behavior towards me was absolutely uncalled for, and rather controlling.
Tumblr media
I was only recently properly diagnosed with Autistic Spectrum Disorder and ADHD; but before then, as an adult, I had more difficulty talking. Difficulty expressing how I felt. Trouble with finances. Being in the right headspace. Being able to take a step back and be like "whoa, now hold on- pointing fingers at me is only going to point three right back at you, let's not assume shit here". And it took a lot of support from my support systems and my boyfriend- @constant-state-of-self-discovery - to get a truly more accurate diagnosis. Cuz I've had three different diagnoses over the years, with the third being my most accurate one but I digress
I have echolalia and repeat funny phrases, hum music, etc.
When my brother was born - and I hate to use this comparison, but - almost immediately he became the Golden Child of the family dynamic. I was ten when he was born- and yeah, that's unfair for a baby, toddler, and little kid. But flash forward to when he's a bigger kid, when he's in his pre-teen stage and now a fourteen year old, who's gotten more educational advantages than I was ever offered or even given when asked. Who has had more positive experiences with his parents than I ever did. Who got the chance to actually go to the highschool he wanted to without having to worry about who I was really zoned for. Who is getting to work on his passion and talents. Yeah, that's totally not favoritism there.
I draw. I write. I legitimately can see myself voice acting one day.
I have often proved my family members both right and wrong about things in their lives, but I'm still the bad guy. Interesting how that works.
--------
See, these are the facts that just have me relating to just Bruno and Cinderella alone, with how my life is. There's plenty of other shit to add on about my stuff, but that's enough dirty laundry to get the ball rolling.
The fact of the matter is this: I cannot live in such a place like this anymore. And if anyone can help, I'd seriously appreciate whatever cash, boosting, reblogging, sharing that can be done.
I'm tired of living a life like this. I want to move forward. I want to start my next chapter, away from abuse.
And I'm really hopeful for the first time ever that something good might come out of this.
(thank you @savythenillerwaffer , @nystiaa , @oswinunknown , and @anne-of-crows for reblogging along with the others who have spread the word.)

Queer Madrigals
I'm about to post a couple future!fic for Encanto, so I figured I'd take a minute to talk about my headcanons when it comes to their genders/sexualities.
The Obvious: I've posted somewhat in depth about what I think Bruno and Isabela's individual deals are, so I'm not going to really talk about it here, but yeah. Using the labels I am familiar with, I assume Bruno is demi, bi, and nonbinary, and that Isabela is a lesbian who ends up marrying a trans woman.
The Married: I mean, we can sit here all day and speculate, but the only real headcanons I got are that Juli is demi and Pepa has made out with more women than Bruno.
Mirabel: I've mentioned this, but I didn't really talk about it. Due to heteronormativity I suspect it wouldn't occur to Mirabel to question her sexuality until later in life when the Pride movement starts up. I think she's bi, possibly also demi, but most definitely not very focused on her love life (another reason why she doesn't think too hard about her sexuality). She's got shit to do and if somebody wants to date her they better speak up about it because she's got too many projects going on right now to bother with mind games. Mirabel ends up with a man mostly by coincidence, I saw somebody do the numbers and its just statistically more likely that a bi person will end up with somebody of the opposite sex (the math didn't factor for gender). I try to keep all of my headcanons grounded to peoples lived experiences, and this felt historically accurate.
Luisa: I think that if Luisa were a tumblrina she would end up being CIS+, but would have to go through the journey of exploring her gender due to societal biases. In the context of 1950's Colombia, she spends her youth hearing abuelas and tias talking about how she needs to be more feminine if she wants a husband, and struggles with that for a while. Luisa sings "I glow because I know what my worth is" and that's the sort of thing somebody says when they're on the other side of some serious self doubt, so I do think she had to deal with a bit of misogyny and body image issues. The thing is, Luisa likes the way she looks, and she's proud of what a hard worker she is, but she also wears ribbons in her hair and skirts instead of pants to work in. Furthermore, I suspect every bi person in the village, male or female, has a huge fucking crush on her because if she was a modern tumblrina people would be responding to pictures of her with that "not to be a lesbian but oh my god" stuff. I headcanon her as being technically cishet, but culturally gay due to people being people about the whole Woman with Biceps thing, if that makes sense. Once she starts allowing herself some free time, she dates every bi man in the village.
Dolores: Morosexual. No offense Mariano.
Camilo: You know how gender is a product of your culture and different societies throughout history have had different ideas of how many genders there are and what it means to be a man or woman? I think being able to turn into a woman at will would have an effect on Camilo's relationship with his gender. Like, I don't know if he would be full nonbinary, because I have never met a shapeshifter and asked them how they feel about gender, but I can't imagine he sees gender as a rigid binary. Like I said, I try to stay grounded in my headcanons, and I have zero idea what the lived experience of a shapeshifter is, soooooo...?
Antonio: I have spent a long time weighing the options here, his association with animals makes me think he would be the least traditional Madrigal, so I would like to think he'd end up in the least conventional relationship. I posted a list of headcanons where I floated the idea of him being poly, but I like the idea of him being aroace better. I stand by the rest of it, though. He marries a lesbian, let's her girlfriend move in with them, and he's just kinda there. Like, the women consider themselves married to each other and he's just some guy who talks to birds. They're his best friends and thinks he's pretty great but the only time he has sex is when him and the wives want kids, and other than that he's just vibing. I arrived at this headcanon because I love the idea of him being sorta a reverse Bruno. Like, people think he has two wives so everybody assumes he's this total lady killer, they sing songs about how charming he is, rumors abound that he can make a girl swoon with a single smile, then you talk to him and he's just some guy. Occasionally, a woman will throw herself at him and he's like "No thanks" then starts having a conversation with her cat. Do you see my vision? Anyone? I don't care if nobody else thinks it's funny, because I'm giggling at my computer.

So, a few months ago I was listening to "Google sings We don't talk about" which later inspired me to write reaction fic that wasn't exactly finished
I remember about it, so... That's just a random dialogue heavy craziness.
Original Song link
Mirabel blinked from the bright flash. A second before she was coloring with Antonio and now she was in a strange room with a strange black...paper? (or whatever it was) and a couch.
"Okay, what's going on?" Camilo winced, looking around.
"I was working and... Uh... Just got here?" Luisa spread her arms unsurely as she bit her lip.
Mirabel looked at everyone. The whole third generation except Antonio was here with Tío Bruno, who was knocking on the wooden table. Mirabel sighed, knowing that ot was extremely normal for him.
"But really..." Isabela sighed, "What's going on?"
"Oh, well, hello." They all starled at the unfamiliar voice.
"Okay, and who are you?" Camilo crossed his arms.
"Ah, nobody." They shrugged indifferently. "So, you're going to react to a song"
Luisa raised an eyebrow. "What?"
Mirabel looked around. "It doesn't make any sense. Also, are you crying?"
"Ah, that's normal, don't worry." The person threw their head back in their hands. "You just have to listen to a song. Basically, 'We don't talk about Bruno' was translated in google translate many times and it became crazy."
Dolores squeaked. "Goo.. Gogl what?"
"Oh!" Bruno smiled, "I saw it in a vision once. It's a robot that translates stuff."
Five grandkids blinked at Bruno with faces like "What the hell are you talking about?"
Mirabel sighed, fixing her glasses. "Okay, so... We'll listen to some random human being, and react to a song?"
Bruno smiled awkwardly. "Seems like completely sane behaviour for me"
Isabela rolled her eyes. "Tío, we all know that sane is the antonym to our family."
Dolores nodded, obviously agreeing with this statement.
The six of them spread out on the sofa, staring at the monitor, waiting for the song to start.
"Emma's hot barista, no no, no"

"Who is Emma?" Isabela raised her eyebrow.

"Emma's hot barista."

Mirabel looked thoughtfully. "Well, it's Tía's part..."

Luisa scratched her hands. Do you offer to ask her?

"Call the wedding (call the wedding)"

"I think she's getting married." Camilo smirked.

"I'm about to finish. No cloud, no CEO (no, no cloud no CEO)"

Bruno asked nervously, holding his hands together. "Uh, what is the CEO?" According to everyone's confused looks, he understood that no one actually knows.

"Ryan enters with a mischievous smile."
"Hala!"
"Are you sharing this, Cory?"

"Okay, who's all those people?" Camilo asked, tilting his head.

"I'm sorry, my heart, it's over!"

"Oh, sad." Bruno shrugged indifferently.

"'Santa' burgundy said"

"Who are all those people?" Dolores squinted, whispering as she desperately tried to understand what the hell was going on.

"It's like 'We don't talk about Bruno', but you're actually don't talk about Bruno." Mirabel pointed out, fixing her glasses.

"As he puts in"
"Overflowing brainholes."
"Grandma, take a nap."

"I feel like dad just wanted to get rid of Abuela." Camilo smirked, crossing his arms.

"Male hurricane"

Luisa sighed. "Okay, apparently Tía's hurricane can now create men."

Dolores let out a laugh. "That's how Camilo was born."

Camilo smiled, nugging her. "I probably should be offended, but being created in a hurricane sounds cool!"

"Happy day, but whatever..."
"We're not talking 'bout brunching, no, no, no."
"We're not talking 'bout brunching"

"Me, forgetting about the existence of lunch again be like." Luisa propped up her head.

Mirabel sighed. "Okay, that's definitely canon."

"Does it mean that Luisa was the one who sang?" Camilo asked, crossing his arms. "You better not, as it will mean that I wasn't created in a hurricane."

"Hey! Began to fear life and Bruno fell asleep."

"Wow, we finally remembered about Bruno." Isabela starled as the song finally mentioned her Tío.

"But I thought it's not going to talk about me?" Bruno sighed.

"I can always hear him tweet and tweet."

"Tweet?" Camilo raised an eyebrow.

Bruno waved his hand. "Oh, it's also something from the future. Hard to explain."

"When the sound of sand hits the wall,"

"Maniacal laughter"

"Uh... are you alright?" Isabela pursed her lips, and everyone stared at Dolores.

Dolores looked away nervously.

"He is a minor terrorist."

Bruno put his arms into pockets. "Wow, rude."

"Grandma and the family are always noisy."

Dolores sighed, leaning back on the sofa. "I have no words to describe it better."

"Oh, cmon, it's not that bad." Isabela rolled her eyes.

"I hear everything. And this family is the loudest in the whole Encanto."

"War irritates our emotions. You know."

"It's a two-meter-shaped figure with a mouse on it."

Bruno pursed his lips. "I'm going to assume that this is about someone else. I mean, I don't even have mice. And the only two-meter-tall person I know is Luisa."

"I'm not. A bit shorter than this." Luisa shrugged, pointing this out.

"When you write your name, everything goes wrong!"

Camilo raised his head. "Okay, so I won't write my name."

Mirabel rolled her eyes. "And you're going to use this as an excuse not to write exams, are you not?"

Camilo put his hand on his chest dramatically. "How could you assume something like that?"

"He definitely would," Dolores nodded.

"Yes, he has a dream about you and... congratulates you for crying."

"Uh, congratulations?" Bruno said it unsurely, clapping his hands. "You can have... Okay, I don't really have any prize"

"Emma's hot barista, no, no, no"
"Emma's hot barista"

"And Emma is back." Mirabel sighed.

“Tell me my fish will die.”

“Why would you even ask for this?” Isabela looked confused.

“Yes, I'm dead.”

Wait, how is it related?” Luisa asked.

“Ah, it's nothing unusual." Bruno shrugged. “Typical Wednesday”

“My appendix hurts like no other!”

Mirabel tilted her head. “Maybe you should go to Mami."

“Her hair is messy! See, it's really messy.”

Mirabel crossed her arms. “I feel insulted.”

Camilo smirked. “Sorry, prima. Not our fault.”

“Well, at least I'm brushing them instead of shapeshifting.”

Luisa laughed. "Tia've gone so crazy trying to brush him when we lost our gifts."

“Literacy with the help of teachers”

“Tell me my thirst for life”

“Growing plants and causing chaos,” Dolores reminded.

"Obviously,” Isabela gave her a smug expression.

“I will stay in covenant and repent.”

“Excuse me?” Isabela rolled her eyes.
Mirabel sighed. "It's literally impossible"

“Tell me my skills are better in connection to Winnie the Pooh.”

Luisa shook her head. “Now we have some yellow bear.” She clasped her palms together. “At this point, we can create a list with all those random people.”

“At least marijuana.”

Mirabel's eyes widened. “It's Abuela's line.”

A wave of awkward laughter spread across the room.

Dolores sighed. “I'm not even surprised."

“I thinks.” he is the man of my dream"

“At least something is normal,” Mirabel exhaled.

“I'm busy. I have other interests.”

“Forget it.” Mirabel whispered before Dolores hissed at her.

"I'm my own person.”

“Hello CC.”

“Uh, what kind of name is it?" Camilo gave a skeptical look at the screen.

Bruno smiled agilely. “Oh, it's a child from FNAF”

Luisa sighed. "You realize that it doesn't make anything clearer for us, right?”

“I don't like you.”

“Bunny”

“What?” Isabela spoke. “How does it even relate to this mess?”

Luisa muttered. “Why are you even surprised? I completely lost it on the fourth line.”

“Yes, chocolate mountain.”

“Okay, now it's just a set of random words,” Camilo said, crossing his arms.

“That's all I know about Bruno.”

“What a great amount of information!" Mirabel rolled her eyes sarcastically.

“Wait, you have a chocolate mountain?” Camilo looked at his Tio, interested. “Can I have it as a prize for crying?”

Bruno shrugged. “Never heard about this before, sorry, kid.”

“Give me the truth and all honesty, Bruno.”

“Isabela, your girlfriend's here!”

Isabela smiled as she put her hands on her sides. “I like this line way more than 'Isabela, your boyfriend's here.”

Mirabel hit the table suddenly. “I get it! Emma is your girlfriend.”

She let out a laugh. "Well, they called her 'hot'”

“Time to dump her.”

“Well, those were fast relationships,” Dolores spoke, tilting her head.

Isabela huffed in annoyance. “Cmon, give me at least some time.”

(repeating the song)

WHERE IS IT

Dolores winced at the sudden screaming.

“In our Bruno show”

Do you mean where he congrats us for crying?” Luisa asked, shaking her hand.

“And gives us a chocolate mountain,” Camilo added.

“Why are you talking about Bruno?”

Bruno smirked. “The fun part is that almost no one talked about me. Especially compared to the original.”

“Is there a way to hear it?” Luisa asked, interested.

“Weren't you there when we singed it?” Isabela gave her a puzzled look.

“Uh, yes, but I was mostly having a mental breakdown over losing my gift.” She reminded, scratching her hands.

“Bruno doesn't call”

“Considering that he was in the walls when we sang it, he really doesn't call to anyone,” Dolores reminded.

“I never should give birth to Bruno.”

Bruno pursed his lips. “Ouch-”

“What a great line to finish." Isabela scoffed.

“I mean, I really shouldn't give birth to my uncle...” Mirabel shrugged awkwardly.

Last ask (sorry for bombarding you) once the grandkids collect themselves (or at least try to), they have a change in style. Go here for inspo, and they're personalities are a mix of Harley Quinn and their old selves. Like comedic villains but you can see the pain and insanity in their eyes.
Dolores - went back to being silent and reserved but all willing to execute, if need be. Listens for information on Alma and the other adults. Blackmails the town for supplies, she knows everyone's secrets so she can get anyone to do what she and her siblings want.
She blackmailed the local seamstress into letting her siblings stay in her house and allowing Mirabel to use all the fabric and thread she needed to give them new outfits/wardrobe.
While in the seamstress's house they all act like it's they're house and SHE'S the guest. But she knows better than to speak up about it and is always polite to them...hoping they spare her life.
Camilo - Comedic, funny, joker vibe. He's taking an interest in theater and pranking people of the village with...not so safe pranks. that includes his and others' parents. He's also the bomb guy, he makes bombs out of fireworks and unsafe chemicals.
He also cooks and bakes, he's the main cook in their small little family. Dolores easily blackmailed some poor soul into giving them free meat, herbs/spices, and whatever else he needs to cook with.
Mirabel - Bubbly, "sweet", always with a smile, main one with ideas, Harley Vibe. She's all of her siblings' seamstress but sometimes when she's tired Dolores and Isabela will help.
The designs of the clothes are very colorful and spontaneous. All with their respective favorite colors, which aren't magenta, yellow, orange, Blue, violet, dark blue, or any color that resembles the family they used to be in.
The outfits are usually knee length skirts, colorful pants, or pantsuits for the girls. Suits, dress shoes, and other types of boyish clothing for Camilo and Antonio.
Isabela - more prone to lash out, poison ivy vibe, more hateful but kind to her hermanitas and hermanitos, "calm", stoic, also the main one with ideas.
Luisa - "Calm", trying to be more fun, Harley and Spinel vibe: Goofy, unhinged, outbursts (not toward her family), intelligent, cunning, still emotional. She's usually the one
Antonio - He's going back to be shy and quiet. All his older siblings give him animal books to read and coloring books to color while they scheme. Dolores also blackmails the toy store owner into giving her free toys for him. At this point they are all putting their effort in to raise him themselves.
He knows what they are doing, he's not a stupid kid, thanks to Alma. He's been raised to be very aware of his surroundings and to notice every single detail in things. So, he knows his siblings are plotting to make the madrigal house crumble, he just doesn't care.
"To hell with them"
All madrigal kids have a small portion of their gifts. Isabela can make small plants appear here and there. Luisa can still lift some heavy stuff but not anything close to houses. Camilo can shapeshift but only for five minutes at a time and the scar in his face makes it hard for him to blend in.
Thankfully makeup exists in Encanto.
Mirabel can still make diamonds and crystals, but they are break pretty easily. She can't make much jewelry anymore but she something new.
She can make beautiful weapons for her to use when the time comes. The only she has to do is to sketch a few ideas on paper and concentrate more on what she wants to make. In the past, she didn't have to concentrate all that much.
It gives her a headache, but she can withstand it. in the end she has the pretty glass/crystal weapons she wanted.
But of course, these are just suggestions and you can edit things to your liking.
Literally love all of these. I probably won't get to this AU for a long while, I have a story I promised someone back in April that I'm posting tonight, along with finishing all my other stories. I will let you know when I've got something written out and I'll run it by you before posting

so I finally watched Encanto. cue Madrigal feels bc what am I, if not on brand.
also please note, I’m a white, Slavic girl living in Central Europe so I probably didn’t get a lot of the Latinx subtext in the movie.
man, first of all, all of the Bruno feels.
Bruno must have had it so hard all his life. the only man in the family, he must have felt the pressure of supporting everyone. and the triplets presumably received their gifts at the same time and it must’ve been scary for each of them in different ways. Pepa obviously, because how do you ask a five-year-old to control their moods because a tantrum can cause a hurricane? Julieta is a different case because cooking is not an obvious gift, so maybe for a while she thought that her siblings got gifts but she didn’t?
and Bruno got future vision. at age 5. it must have been terrifying. no wonder he’s one bundle of anxiety.
I was wondering why Pepa and Julieta were rather late mothers, but now that I think of it, they must have been scared that their kids would get gifts as well. and these gifts would be just as scary.
Dolores and Isabela are both 21 which means Pepa and Julieta were both 29 when they had them. and man, while Isabella’s gift is innocent enough, Dolores’s is also kinda terrifying because imagine hearing all sorts of stuff at age 5. no wonder Julieta had her second child two years later (Luisa is 19) but Pepa waited 6 years (Camilo is 15) and then another 10 (Antonio is 5).
because Camilo’s gift is also kinda scary. Julieta’s daughters got off easy. Prow’s children? not so much.
and then Mirabel got no gift at all. and she saw it as a bad thing, as did Alma, but you can’t tell me the triplets weren’t secretly a little grateful. Pepa and Bruno at least.
Antonio’s gift is scary too, when you think about it. I bet he is gonna convince everyone to become vegan, isn’t he?
but back to Bruno.
Alma’s trauma response was the expectation of perfection from her family. but man, what expectations she must have had from Bruno, who could never replace her Pedro but who must have felt like he should. like he should be the man of the family. on top of his scary visions. I kinda think his invention of Hernando and Jorge was a little bit trying to find a version of himself that was good enough for everyone when he felt he wasn’t.
think about how everyone thinks Bruno was mischievous, when in reality he was a nervous goofball.
his disappearance… one doesn’t make such a decision hastily. I can’t imagine him hiding in the walls on a whim. I can see him finding the hidden room and hiding out there as a child… and then, after admirable doesn’t get a gift and he has his last vision, he goes to his safe place and just… never leaves. the family has another Madrigal man with a gift in Camilo.
for some reason I don’t think Bruno got along well with either of his sisters’ husbands. Felix and Agustin are clearly in love with their wives and happy to take on a more supportive role in the family whereas Bruno probably think he ought to be the patriarch… when he’s anything but. he must’ve felt lonely.

the group of us who don't larry them or abuse and harass their gfs feels like it's tragically small
like if something cute like Singapore or a golf date etc comes across my dash then I'm not going to let the toxic majority stop me enjoying it/rb it. but esp knowing how they've turned their conspiracies on Oscar now (and lbr every driver who Lando or Carlos show affection for is The Enemy for them) I just can't be as enthusiastic as I used to be.
on the one hand them containing the larrying to one ship is handy bc Lily and landoscar are safe from it. but I also don't want fans getting so intensely crazed that they genuinely piss off Lando or Carlos. Lando's post after the Luisa breakup didn't seem to dampen things so idek what it would take for ppl to stop literally 'waiting for car|ando to be a real couple' akgfsakgf. and what I will literally never get ?? is that we have the rpf content made within fandom and then plenty of the real life bromance/friendship stuff even when they're not teammates ?? like why is that not enough ?? why invent a whole alternate reality that keeps getting destroyed and rebuilt every time a tweet or an appearance or an event inevitably proves it wrong ?? that's so exhausting and they're just angry or sad all the damn time (and also busy hating the women these men choose to be with).
anyway I'm only posting this above a cut to sort of draw a line under how/what I'm interacting with rpf for anyone who doesn't know!

I have a new au and i felt like dropping out here:
Court AU
the premise is that the "back wall" of each of the magic rooms + Mirabel's wardrobe are not the actual back wall, and if the corresponding Madrigal figures this out or is told, they can access a magical Court as its ruler, and from them on preside over the creatures of the Court, which vary depending on the Court. They also get magical outfits and secondary forms <3
Bruno was the first to find his Court, the Court of Time. He was looking for a new place in his room to hide from Alma before she could scold his for another negative outcome when he found a hole in the wall under the sand. He has rats and little critters made of emerald glass as his courtiers, and can turn into a large emerald rat at will.
Isabela was next to find her Court, when she was exploring her room at the age of eight. She'd discovered the false wall shortly after her ceremony, but in her room, her Court was hidden behind two other large rooms with false backs, each gallery the combined distance of all those before it, and less maintained as you go back. The Galleries were quite large, so it took Isabela a while to reach the Third Curtain. She presides over the Court of... uh... basically it's plants and everything encompassed on the existence of plants, but she's so working out a name that accurately describes it, because really it's kind of the cycle of life and death and the passing of living things that creates nutrients and the absorption of nutrients and-
-and plants and plant stuff encompasses quite a bit of stuff! She also kind of has an alliance with fungi, which technically aren't under her domain but are deeply intertwined with plants. Isabela's Court is populated by Courtiers (capital C), which are a sort of sentient animated Fae-plant that hijacks disused skeletons and skins. Isabela's alternate form is a clouded leopard Courtier. (Do not expect the other to have quite this much as Isabela is my favorite)
Dolores rules the Court of Sound, which she found by listening to the flutter of near-silent moth wings. Her Court consists mainly of large moth creatures and owl things and rabbitfolk. I have not yet decided on an alternate form for her.
Luisa found the Court of Myths, populated by fantastical creatures from fables and folktales. Most of her courtiers are from the more "classical" mythologies - that is, European legends. Cerberus, unicorns, pegasi, creatures of that ilk. Luisa's alternate form is a draft unicorn.
Camilo has his Court of Change, accessible via a mirror. His courtiers are mirrorbeasts, creatures with a transparent, malleable form. They are usually found in the shape of trickster animals, such as foxes, crows, and snakes, or mimicry masters, like the lyrebird or octopus. Camilo himself can turn into a mirrorbeast if he so wishes.
Sweet Mirabel gets the Court of Magic, also known as the Court of Butterflies, as many of her courtiers are large, magical lepidopterans, although those are not the only creatures in her Court. One of her main advisors is Casita itself. She found her Court through a secret passage in the back of her wardrobe, a la Narnia, although she can access it deliberately. Her magical shape is a large gold and blue butterfly.
Antonio finds the Court of Animals shortly after receiving his Gift, with the help of his prima Mirabel. As the name implies, his courtiers are animals. Nothing else is yet known about his Court-related magic.
Julieta, Pepa, and Alma never found their Courts.
SO COOL❓❗❓❗ no bit really do do think its a cool idea. Ngl, when I first read that I was like "Court? So Ace Attorney?" Like i for thought you was about to propose a Law AU 💀 ANYWAYYYY Yeah, I like the idea! Gotta search for em or be told about it, that's a nice touch. F in chats for Julieta, Pepa and Alma. No loyalty <\\\333 jkjk.
I like Mirabel's and Camilo's, and Luisa's. The most. BUT THEY'RE ALL GREAT...They're just so cool to me in particular. Esepcially the creatures that populate the court, like that is such a unique idea, instead of just people (though even if it was just people, I'd still be down wit it.) Overall, I really do like the idea.

Hear me out-
The X-Men with a reader who can cancel out mutations, like when they're near someone, let's say Cyclops for example, he can take off his glasses and his eyes don't shoot out lasers.
I think it'd be funny to have it so the reader isn't even aware of their mutation, like one day one of them slips up or tries to use their powers around the reader but nothing happens 💀
Having a mutation that stops their powers (X-Men and The Brotherhood)
Tumblr media
I LOVE THIS I'm actually going to do this with the X-Men and the Brotherhood because there's so many possibilities.
TODD (I'm just putting him first because he's my fav):
• You and Todd hang out a lot. For some reason, he just feels calmer around you (little does he know, you actually take away the stressful parts of his mutation, like the sensitive skin and everything)
• I feel like he still eats flies because he's used to it, so he doesn't notice that you took away the frog part of his brain that actually needs them for nourishment
• He doesn't actually realize that you have that mutation until he goes to jump and just.. falls on his face.
• He freaks out at first, but he does appreciate not being so slimy and all of that
• Sometimes if he wants to shower (check out my headcanons on why he can't use soap), he'll call you over
PIETRO:
• He. Hates. You.
• Not actually, because I don't write angst very often, but he doesn't appreciate the power you hold over him.
• You're like a more annoying Wanda in his eyes.
• He always gets on your nerves (because he obviously will, I don't care how cute he is), and you always end each argument by taking away his powers.
• "Very funny! Now stop."
WANDA:
• You think she can't kill you without powers?
• Just kidding, ofc. She loves you.
• But, she's very used to being controlled and her powers being held back, so I actually think she wouldn't appreciate you using it against her.
• If you don't know about your powers yet, then she's obviously not going to get mad at you.
• Actually, she's very sympathetic. She knows what it's like to have uncontrollable powers.
FRED:
• Would he really notice? I don't think his body would change. Maybe he'd lose some strength though, but he'd probably just think he's getting sick or something
• Or he would freak out and feel useless without his powers, leading to a breakdown (think Luisa from Encanto idk)
LANCE:
• (I don't know if anyone else noticed this in the show, but HE MAKES THE STUPIDEST FACES WHEN USING HIS POWER ITS SO FUNNY)
• I imagine he goes to use his power and nothing happens so he just stands there like 🧍
• LIKE ELEVEN IN THAT ONE SCENE OF STRANGER THINGS LMAOO
TABITHA:
• She'd probably be really chill about it, but after a minute she'd really miss using her powers.
• So she freaks out a little, but she plays it cool in front of everyone.
• Hey, she's a complex person!
SCOTT:
• He's so confused, he just stares blankly at everyone and no one knows what's happening
• like this: 😨
• After everyone found out about what happened, he actually kind of loves it.
• Imagine always having to wear sunglasses, I would get so sick of those powers. So, he enjoys the little break
• Just make sure to tell him when you leave the room, because he's used to keeping his eyes open when you're around
ROGUE:
• Yeah, we all know she needs this.
• She would get really excited, going around and poking people's shoulders
• Getting surprised when nothing happens and just being like "okay, just checking!"
• She finally gets to hug her friends and high five people and all of that fun loving stuff
• A bit disappointed when it ends, but she doesn't blame you
• Yes, she's a bit closed off. But deep down, all she really wants is to be able to live her life without fear.
KURT:
• As much as he would like it to, I don't think the mutation would take any physical traits.
• So the beautiful blue boy would have to stay looking like the dude from Avatar </3
• Which obviously isn't a bad thing, because he's perfect just the way he is, but Kurt is severely disappointed.
• The teleportation was the only good thing about his powers! And that's all that went away.
• He's not angry at you, just angry at himself for.. existing, I guess.
• HE DESERVES SO MUCH LOVE I CANT
• Your powers don't really do much, expect keeping him from running away during arguments. Which could be very helpful.
JEAN:
• Another one that I believe would appreciate your powers
• Jean has to deal with a lot of things, including the involuntary mind reading (which I'm guessing absolutely sucks, because who would ever want that power!?)
• So, until she controls that, it can be a bit overwhelming.
• Then, you come along. And it's silent. For once in her life, the only voice in Jeans head is her own.
• She obviously goes into protective mother mode during the chaos, making sure no one else is panicking while they try to figure out what's happening
• But she's honestly really relieved the entire time.
KITTY:
• Unfortunately, she finds out right when she's running into a wall (because I think that's funny comedic timing)
• I think she'd be a little relieved too, since we learned her worst fear is her powers trapping her underground and things like that
• So sometimes I think using her powers makes her really nervous, thinking she'd accidentally get trapped and suffocate or something.
• So, whenever she needs a break from that anxiety, she knows exactly who to turn to
All in all, I think this is a really cute idea and I loved writing about it. Thank you for the request, I had so much fun with this!!
