i can see you two in a club/party setting. the music is so loud it's pulsing through your veins, it's not usually your scene, but your person is right by your side holding you close. their hand is resting slightly on your back/waist guiding you through the crowd — i feel like they'll smell really good too they have a distinct fragrance on that's comforting to you. i feel like you'll be so giddy and excited to be outside with them and be seen together. lots of heads will turn for sure. i feel like y'all are a power couple…like looking at you two walking in together just makes sense but it also triggers jealousy and disbelief in other people? you and your person may come from different backgrounds or have different aesthetics but y’all pair together very well. they’re gonna be looking so smug lollll your person is the silent but confident type, like having you on their arm will shut everybody up and they’ll love it. this person could be very popular or well-known in their profession…i'm getting a serena van der woodsen type of vibe so people can definitely be infatuated with them. you might not even like dancing but you will with them! you're gonna be on cloud 9 the whole night, pile 1. some of you might not smoke or drink but you’ll feel high/drunk off them the entire night it’s so cute! u are my high by dj snake and future vibes for sure.

the atmosphere is sensual af, pile 2. it's giving the vibe of a private dinner at an upscale restaurant/bar or hotel. your person planned this out very meticulously, and they managed to pull it off without you knowing too many details. you’ll be so happy to be sitting across from them and enjoying their company — i feel like you both don't always have the time to just sit and unwind because you both have very demanding jobs/schedules. i see you two flirting a lot with your eyes and smiling so big…the energy is very warm and playful. the sexual tension will be very thick between the two of you lol they might make comments throughout the night about how good you look. the lighting seems very dim and red seems to be the major theme so you could be wearing a red dress, they might give you a bouquet of red roses, their shirt might be red — idk it's something along those lines lol the color red is just significant for some reason. the food, their company, and the ambiance will be 100000/10 and the night won't stop there 😮‍💨 cause when they get you back home? soon as i get home by faith evans just came to mind LOL yeah they’re going to want to make up for lost time and please you in any and every way that they can. OKAYYY PILE 222.
PILE iii.
Tumblr media
ah this is my introverted pile! i don't think you get out much, pile 3. if you do it's usually because someone begged you to come out and socialize or you pushed yourself to go. you like having your own space and privacy, and sometimes it's a bit overwhelming having to constantly socialize and be around a whole bunch of people that may not mesh with you. i think that your person will be receptive to this, and will take baby steps to get you out of your shell. they’d take you somewhere where you can relax and be comfortable like a drive-in movie theater or maybe somewhere in nature…it's somewhere you both can be alone and in your own bubble tuning out the rest of the world. i can see them holding you close and you’re leaned back against them just so content and reveling in the precious moment. it’s a night you’ll never forget because you’ll realize just how much they mean to you, and how far you’ve come in this connection. it's reminding me of that picture of ariana grande and mac miller at coachella. so so cute.

Intentions are Everything  |  Chaos Universe OneShot for @fridayd13th
Summary: Wednesday and Enid (age 22) reconnect on a rainy night after routine and the season of life they are in keep them apart. WC: 4k exactly (welcome to layla's <5k challenge) Rated: T (I’m at work it would absolutely end best in sex but a Clifford the Big Red Dog stuffie is looking at me in my supply closet and I feel judged.)
Note: As I’m experimenting with some new writing rules for myself to set myself to different standards and expectations for future projects (not even fanfiction); I’m weaponizing my competence and refusing to use my available contract hours assisting others who do not have withitness and follow-through. When I’m at work and not with the children on a break per required of my union contract, I’m locking myself in my supply closet to write! I'm too efficient! Everything is done through April! However, it’s simply not the correct setting to be working on my multi-chapter work; I need at least two hours at a time for that. These one-shots have to be prompted by someone else (I can’t have stewing on the content), under 5K, and I’m not allowed to work on them at home. I'll probably upload these to AO3 once I have a few of them complete.
The prompt "Wenclair/Domestic/Chaos Universe/Rainy Day" was from @fridayd13th - thank you so much for everything you’ve done to support my writing over the last year, and all the other fanfic authors you have impacted by your sharing, comments, and kindness. Thank you! & a Black Menagerie update is in the editing phase and will be up tomorrow sometime!

It wasn’t supposed to rain.
And not just because she already had outdoor plans, but there hadn’t been a drop forecasted (Wednesday had been checking obsessively). If there was a way to light the sky on fire, she surely would have…only to have that flame extinguished, immediately – like her carefully structured night out.
That was dramatic. (Wasn’t she always? And to think, Enid was the one at the theater that evening.) With a silent pivot, Wednesday adjusted course without hesitating, not wanting to waste a moment, even if it included one of the heaviest sighs she’d ever released. She couldn’t be taken down by reanimated corpses of bigots, genocidal maniacs, werewolf councils, Hydes, or the weather.
Life had gotten between herself and her fiancée over the last few months, and as she managed to be surprised by a late April rain, it showed. Between her endless lectures, bookwork, and mock trials, Network meetings and Enid’s grueling six-day-a-week performance schedule that only had her off on Mondays (Wednesday’s latest day at law school, naturally), their time together that didn’t involve one of them working on something was rare and precious. After a heated argument the week before, ended by the redhead who lived in the basement unit of their townhouse, Wednesday had stormed off to New Jersey. A train ride and taxi to her family’s home had her barreling into her mother’s study wet (it had been raining then too), upset, and in the foulest of moods.
It had taken Morticia quite some time to put together the fractured pieces of information her daughter was revealing and advise the same thing that the other wise woman in her life already had; Enid and Wednesday just needed to spend meaningful time together. When all of their hours in one another’s space were domestic routines and transitional time trying to catch each other up on the latest without being part of it, they were bound to spat.
Enid had been more than a little bit upset that Wednesday’s solution to their problem was running away and had hotly asked for the night apart when Morticia said that she thought it would be more practical for Lurch to drop her off than deal with the train again. At the notion of spending the night alone in her parents’ house settled in, Wednesday had a meltdown the likes of which they hadn’t seen from her in years. Morticia had slept with her when she finally convinced her to at least lay down, likely in fear that she was going to slip into a meditation and wind up in the wrong side of the ether because of her twisted energy.
The next morning, she’d had a long and overdue chat about romance with both her parents. They spoke from the heart – it was mushy and disgusting. Their own experiences made her want to bury her head in the sand. Yet - Wednesday had desperately needed to hear it. She and Enid were a far cry from the two of them. Though she might’ve possessed some Gomez-like traits every now and again, Wednesday was her own, unique breed and would love her own way, too. But, to her chagrin, hearing their perspective did help – and it put her plan into motion.
Enid wasn’t home when Wednesday arrived – she had a matinee that afternoon and then an evening show as well. With all her focus, Wednesday tidied up their apartment not only in proper order, but also made sure she’d put Enid’s favorite sheets on the bed, started the incense she liked the best, and ordered all her prized snacks for the week when she had groceries delivered. After a long talk with the couple downstairs, about recovering from a blow-out (they were more than familiar with that topic), Wednesday also committed herself to certain actions for the week ahead.
Unfortunately – the experimental medication she was on, after the sleepless night before, forced her to fall asleep when she laid in bed, trying to write a formal apology to her fiancée – afraid of forgetting something if she just tried to speak it all. It would still be from the heart, but scripted so she made sure to make every point.
That was how Enid woke her up with sweet, gentle kisses when she’d gotten home from her show, close to eleven. She had a fresh release of tears, and Wednesday’s notebook in her hand, stroking her cheeks and promising – she was forgiven, and that she was also sorry, for how she’d responded and reacted to everything.
In her grogginess, Wednesday made a promise – that she was going to give Enid a real date; she was going to honor her with something special, not routine, not a drive-by conversation. She wanted to give her a night that Enid could treasure.
And so, with two hours until her show released that Friday, Wednesday cooked, baked, transformed the attic space and prepared the environment with all the heart and ambiance-creating ability she had.
Locating her umbrella and stepping into black Wellies, she took the pink ones by the door into her hands and a jacket when she realized the temperature dipped as well. With a black and white striped snake over her shoulders tucked into her collar to stay dry, she made the familiar trek out of their Upper West Side apartment to Midtown – a journey she used to take when she was committed to making it to Enid’s show at least once a week.
How quickly things changed when novelty wore off. She hadn’t been to the theater in at last four months, she realized – vowing to change that, too.
One metro ride and a few blocks walked in the rain later, she stood outside the theater door, grateful the rain would keep most of the obsessive, obnoxious out-of-towners from lining up for autographs. Her snake poked his head out curiously when the door opened a few times, hoping for Enid, but it was always orchestra first, Wednesday reminded Augustus softly.
Thankfully, she didn’t have to wait long. Only three other cast members groaned at the rain before heading out themselves before Enid let out a full whine upon opening the door, then a completely delighted gasp. “Wednesday! Ohemgee, you did not have to come all the way here!”
“I didn’t want you caught in this beautiful weather without proper gear,” She said, passing Enid’s rainboots to her. She let out an excited squeak of appreciation, dipping back in and swapping her shoes, then accepting the rain jacket before positioning herself under Wednesday’s umbrella, wrapping an arm around her waist. Holding the handle and depositing a kiss to her lips, ignoring how she still had on her stage makeup and dreadful, bright red lipstick that probably transferred, Wednesday clarified, “There is an obvious change in plans from our rooftop dining experience in Brooklyn. But our evening is not ruined, simply altered.”
“Awe, well – that’s so sweet. I didn’t even know it had started to rain! I’m glad I don’t have to be super bummed out, either. Thanks for taking care of everything! Hey – how was the exam?”
“Grueling. Torture. It took me every available moment to finish. Naturally, I scored a hundred four,” Wednesday said with a little smirk as the sky emptied itself onto the city, hard raindrops rattling the waterproof covering above them as they moved to the subway station. “And the show?”
“The usual,” Enid shrugged. “Friday night crowds are notoriously off – though this one wasn’t so bad. I don’t know. It’s been almost seven months now – there’s rumblings about auditions the Crazy for You revival moving to the US, I’d for sure be auditioning for that – this role has me feeling a little...locked in. I’m not, like, over it – but I’d be up for something different.”
“Insert here a cheesy line about being crazy for you in any show you’re billed in. I also recognized on my way here – I haven’t come out to watch in so long. I’m genuinely sorry for the pacing of our time together and the inadequacies I’ve brought, Enid.”
“Oh, you do not need to apologize for that, Wednesday! This is my job, as much as it’s art. It’s not like I’m going to catch you in the courtroom on any kind of regular basis – that’d probably be sups inappropriate. Well – we know in the future that I’ll see you in the Supreme Court – but that’s like, you coming to opening night of me as a leading lady. It’s different. I don’t expect my partner at a weekly curtain call.”
“Still,” She said as they waited on the platform after taking the slippery stairs down, keeping her umbrella folded low to drip onto the already sopping tile, “I do like watching you perform. Even if this isn’t my favorite show – I’d like to see you soon. I’ll leave father and Em behind, though.”
Enid giggled. “I don’t mind their…enthusiastic reception to my stage presence,” Enid found careful words as the train arrived – packed, of course, for a Friday night on the 1 in Midtown. Finding a place to stand where they wouldn’t be absorbing too much liquid from others who’d been caught in the rainstorm unprepared, they took the short ride back uptown, making it home just as another couple was about to enter their shared foyer.
Emiliana and Josie were soaked to the bone, obviously caught in the storm, and in Emiliana’s case – thrilled about it. Josie looked a little less than enthusiastic and both Wednesday and Enid backed away when her wife tried to embrace them. “It’s their date night, too – leave them alone,” Josie warned, tugging her back by the shoulders with a sigh.
“Well, I do not think they are going to be dining on roofs, bien-aimée!” Emiliana argued, about to go in again when Josie popped the lock on the lower-level unit with a groan, wishing the girls a good night – whatever they ended up doing, before ushering Emiliana downstairs while she spoke rapidly in French about which movie she wanted to watch and why would she need a shower, she was already wet?
Unable to hide her smirk, Wednesday took off her boots, setting them on a rug while Enid popped the umbrella open to dry off (chancing her luck) and shrugged out of her coat, hanging both damp garments on a hook before locking the main door, then opening their own when they entered the kitchen.
Enid’s enhanced smell must’ve picked up right away what Wednesday had baked for her. She looked at her with a little gasp, a near twinkle in her eye. “You didn’t? You did! Oh, Wednesday!”
“Snickerdoodles are upstairs already,” She said quietly – hating the way that ridiculous word rolled off her tongue; but if they were Enid’s favorite, easy-to-prepare desert – of course. “As is everything else that I could prepare in advance, there are a few things I need to finish now. Everything you need for your favorite bath is out and ready for you.”
“Awe, not possible,” Enid said with a little pout. Wednesday crossed her arms, suspicious about that – Enid’s preferences had hardly changed since she was seventeen and they first started their innocent soaks together. “You won’t be in it!”
Almost snorting, she rolled her eyes and kissed Enid’s cheek. “I cannot be two places at once. Yet. I’m still working on that spell. Go on – I’ll meet you upstairs in thirty minutes.”
“Alright. Thank you, Wednesday.” She returned the sweet little kiss before shaking her head and planting a long one on her lips, despite the lipstick. Wednesday refused to cringe, merely returned it before Enid pulled away with a laugh, wiping the red off her with her thumb. “I frickin’ love you.” With that she winked and headed up the stairs of the narrow unit.
Putting the rest of her plan into motion, Wednesday poured her attention into finishing the meal that she’d started, heading up to the attic to light the candles with a wave of her hand to complete the ambiance she’d started to set up.
Bringing up the last of the food on a butler’s tray she’d stolen from home ages before, Wednesday glanced at the time, hearing the sound of a drain circling. Taking her place up near the small, circular window that was pattered in rain. She lifted the bow of her cello, starting to play a melody of their favorite songs.
Enid took a familiar place on the bench in front of the window, watching Wednesday with a look of love she could see out of the corner of her eye. Her snake traveled from Wednesday’s neck to Enid’s pink, loungewear covered shoulders, licking her cheek, making her smile.
Finally finishing, she stood up, taking Enid’s hands, kissing her fingers before tucking her at the low table of the attic in front of the futon. Plating her a favorite rare beef dish, Wednesday started the small record player on an entertainment unit before taking a seat beside her.
They ate with comfortable conversation flowing – Enid brought up the show she was interested in again, Wednesday asked her to describe the plot – and stared at her with hearts in her eyes as she animatedly detailed the storyline and the roles she’d want to play within it. As she stacked the dirty dishes, moving the tray to the stairs, Wednesday put the cookies on the table, then flushed a little as she began to remove materials out of a basket. Giving a shrug, she hoped that she was matching the energy the moment called for as she explained, “We were going to go to that gallery…but – I…maybe you want to make something to add to ours up here?”
She gestured to the various crafts that Enid had hung up above the futon – a few embroidery pieces she’d experimented with, paintings, collages…
Enid nodded brightly. “I’d love to make something with you.”
The next forty minutes were spent painting on a canvas, the two working together to come up with an inspired design – an interpretation of their snake in the springtime – Augustus looking at it and offering his feedback, requesting more pale pink cherry blossom petals all around him.
As they finished, Wednesday took the dirty brushes and palette along with the dishes, hurrying them down to the sink before returning with a bottle of wine and two glasses. Enid had moved to the cushions, her expression of dopy desire a bit contagious as Wednesday poured her a glass and took a seat. She indicated her own intentions by sitting as close to fiancée as possible, a stacking her legs on top of Enid’s thighs as she twisted into the corner of the couch – just a touch obnoxiously. Enid giggled before taking a sip, drawing an arm just above her knees. She pressed a kiss to Wednesday’s lips, letting out a sigh. “You probably feel like the need to reconcile was largely on you, given how you ran…but it wasn’t, Wednesday. I’ve been just as distracted, and every bit as much to blame for us not spending the time we need together, too.”
Augustus appeared from her collar again and Wednesday smiled at the snake with the gentle sort of parent-like love she’d had for him since the start. “Hey, buddy…do you think you could take yourself to your enclosure for a little while? There’ll be a pinky for you in the morning.”
He let out a small hiss and twisted down her arm, leaving the two in full privacy. Wednesday had another long drink of wine and made a hopeful suggestion. “I have two more exams next week, but then the summer term doesn’t begin until mid-May. Is there any time over the next few weeks that you’d be able to get away from the show for a few days?”
Enid laughed. “I haven’t used an understudy yet! Our swings would be thrilled – I’m sure I could take some time, for us.”
The way she said it made Wednesday chug the rest of the wine in her glass before taking Enid’s from her, sweetly, and placing both on the table. She adjusted her position, sitting fully on her lap. Enid’s arms fell around her waist, pulling her close for a kiss. Wednesday sighed into it, lazily dropping her arms around her shoulders, drawing herself closer, chests touching – even if they were just in comfortable sweatshirts – she loved the feeling. Enid let out a little sound of contentment as her tongue dipped into her mouth, pushing them even closer.
Enid pulled away with a sudden gasp – their teeth almost colliding as a bolt of lightning and crackle of thunder turned the nighttime rain shower into a thunderstorm. She giggled and groaned, sighing into Wednesday’s shoulder as Wednesday felt her heartrate skyrocket and decrease. Tangling her fingers into Enid’s hair, Wednesday just held her close, there, resting her head just on top of hers. “I love you,” She muttered quietly. “I’m really glad we spent tonight together, not just in routine, even if it wasn’t what we planned.”
“Me too,” Enid squeezed her middle, looking up with a sweet gaze. “I love you. I can’t believe how we let time get away from us. Hey – let me send a quick text to let my manager know I’m going to be out of the show – then I’m getting my laptop and my planner – we are so booking a trip for after your exams!”
Letting her go – even if she might’ve rather extended that time together physically, Wednesday figured she could get her fiancée all worked up and excited about time off together and then spend the time together in bed. Enid returned just moments later, her fingers flying across her keyboard as she gave herself a week off without asking – but expecting. Loving that for her self-confidence, Wednesday stretched out on the futon while she started to ramble excitedly, opening a glittery pink date book, actually blathering about what to fill in it. Her excited ramble went on for almost two straight minutes before she paused, mid-sentence, blushing as she glanced back at Wednesday. As she opened her mouth, Wednesday reminded her, “If you dare apologize for looking forward to spending time together…” She snapped her lips together and Wednesday smirked, putting her chin on Enid’s shoulder as she leaned over her. “There’s a full moon next week, too. We could maybe go somewhere that has a forest nearby if you’d like to wolf out. It’s been months, Enid. The Solstice was the last time…it just happened to be on a Monday, otherwise you probably would’ve taken your potion then, too.”
“You really want to spend time off chasing me through the trees?” Enid asked skeptically.
Dropping into a sit beside her, Wednesday took her hand into her own, letting her thumb rub a circle over the ring on her left. “I want to spend my time off with you. That’s all, Enid. I don’t care, particularly, what we do. I would like you to make sure you’re not disconnecting with the wolf part of you…we know the consequences of that. But if you don’t think you need to wolf out to stay connected, that’s fine, too.”
“Hm,” Enid laced the fingers that were playing with hers between them and kissed Wednesday’s cheek. “You know – we could really disconnect from the world, and only connect to each other – which always helps. Go to the Zypher property, be surrounded by mountains? We haven’t been in…what, two and a half years now?”
Liking the sound of that, Wednesday nuzzled her neck, also liking that it wouldn’t involve her traveling by plane, but the thought of being without running water and electricity for an entire week wasn’t quite what she wanted to deal with. Who would’ve thought – Wednesday Addams, a woman of the modern world?
“Or – we go to the Addams house in Jericho? We’d be able to bathe far more conveniently – but still have the woods.”
Enid chuckled into her lips with a kiss. “Fair, fair,” She spoke, pulling back. “Promise me you won’t get tangled up in a Network conspiracy while we’re there?”
With a single nod, Wednesday leaned in for another kiss. “I won’t even tell them we’re in town.”
“Well, that’s not nice. Aunt Larissa would ream you if we bumped into her at the store picking up stuff for dinner and hadn’t told her we were coming.”
“Grocery delivery,” Wednesday refuted.  Enid shot her a look. “We can have one dinner with them. One. I’m very serious. This is going to be our time, Enid. We…we need it. It’s going to be a long summer – I’m so close to done, and the last two semesters are going to be grueling. Remember, I will be hospitalized at some point because I’m going to be so in over my head and taking horrible care of myself and refusing to let you do it for me,” She sighed – wishing she’d never had that vision, years ago. “But until then – we have this time together. I want it to be meaningful – just us.” Thunder made the entire place rumble and Enid nodded, then let out a little sound of sympathy as a slithering snake hurried himself up the steps and into Wednesday’s lap, trembling. “It’s okay, buddy,” She whispered, kissing his cheek as she held him close, letting him circle back around her neck. “Well, just us and the boy.”
Enid acknowledged what she’d said before, “Meaningful. It sucks to think that a lot of the time we do have together isn’t meaningful – and I guess I didn’t really understand that until this all blew up,” She sighed. “It’s hard to think that just because you spend every night sleeping next to the love of your life, it can get routine, so fast. I hate that. I don’t want that for us.” She thumbed her planner. “Do you think – we could pen in some more date nights? This was really nice. Not just dinner because we both happen to be home…which; has been rare for us – but intentional dates. I think we need to make sure we have at least one a month? Once a week would be better – but until you’re finished with school, I think we should be a little more realistic -”
Wednesday tilted her head in a bit of good news. “Actually, we can. Every Monday. My evening course was moved to Tuesdays and Thursdays for the summer class.”
Letting out a little gasp, Enid tossed her arms around her fiancée. “That’s amazing! OhEmGee, this is perfect! Hey – how about we put our first Monday after vacation at that Brooklynn rooftop and gallery, hm? I mean, truthfully – I think I preferred this, just us doing our own thing up here -”
“Then, let’s plan to do our own thing up here,” Wednesday argued gently. “Why go out and force ourselves to do something that neither of us really want to do? Just because it’s what is expected of a couple on a date? You know I would always rather be in with you. We can make it special, so long as we intend to.” She sighed, shaking her head. “Of course. I’ve long ago learned, intentions are everything, didn’t I? I suppose I just never applied it to our long-term romance.”
Enid kissed each cheek, then the tip of her nose. “I do believe I have some intentions for how I’d like to close out this night.”
Wednesday dropped her hands to her hips. “Hm. Funny, so did I. What if our intentions don’t align?”
She gave a playful growl, then nipped her lip playfully, making Wednesday close her eyes and give a little groan. “Yeah,” Enid pulled away, “I’m pretty sure – we both want the same thing. Come on. GusGus, bedtime, buddy. This date night continues for another hour!”
“Oh, that’s all?” Wednesday teased, earning a playful push as she smirked, fully intending on making meaning out of every moment of the rest of their night together.

Chapter 1 - Beautiful Stranger (wordcount: 1.5k)
Dancing was your passion, you had been doing it your entire life. It was clear from the start when your mom took you to see your first professional ballet performance. The costumes, the subtle movements and the rhythm of the music. Setting a goal from when you were just a kid, dreaming you would make it as a ballerina. It was easy to say that dance was your calling, being said from dance instructors. And even being accepted into The Boston Ballet. You had a bright future of dance ahead, you could picture it then. Being on a stage, the bright lights focused on only you. Where you danced for a full audience in a theater.
Unfortunately right out of graduating,  those dreams came crashing to a halt. It was all because of the accident. It kept you from your training, and not being able to keep up with your dance peers.
You felt there was no direction your life was going anymore, when you had moved back home to Texas to heal, where there was nothing to keep you busy. Then, Miss Beatrice’s dance works came into motion. You were given an opportunity to teach childrens beginners ballet. Your parents urged you to do something productive like this. Thinking you might as well keep some part of dancing in your life, you accepted.
You were playing the light piano music from your phone, and faced the bright eyed little kids. First practice of the season always seemed to go smoothly. Some were not as excited to be there as others, but nonetheless, you began instruction. Introducing them to the basics, the 5 basic positions. And had them walk across the room doing different movements with their arms.
Then you hear the metal door suddenly open, looking away from your students, you see a broad frame with a duffel bag shoved in his left hand and rushing his daughter to sit on the chair to slip her ballet shoes on.
“Um pardon the interruption…” he said sincerely. You stop your teaching to smile and walk out of the studio and into the waiting room.
“That's alright…we aren’t even ten minutes in.” you waved him off, and eyes wandered to the curly haired girl rushing in the waiting room.
‘Keep on practicing the positions girls..” you say as you walk out the door to greet the dad. You look over to the girl and smile. “You must be Sarah.” You say she nods enthusiastically and beams. “I’m Joel, Sarah’s dad” he introduced himself, holding his hand out for you to take it. His hands were calloused but felt comforting, different from your delicate hand. You could almost feel your breath hitch. “Sorry for bein’ late for the first practice… I was behind at work and was in rush gettin’ home to pick her up.” he said with a sincere face. You examine his features, dark brown eyes that look like they've seen a lot. And lines that were deepening on his forehead.
You introduce yourself and continue to reassure him.  “Again it is no problem at all, just as long as you don't make it a habit.” you tease lightly. He chuckles and runs his hand through his hair. He looks around to see the other parents of the dancers getting agitated, which you notice and realize you need to continue class. “Well Joel, if you aren't busy you are welcome to sit on the bench and watch.” you smile and fold your two hands together. He did just that and took a breath, placing his hands on his knees. “C’mon Sarah, let’s head in.” she skips behind you and you shut the door behind. You gave a warm smile and had her stand at the bar with the others.
Class then resumes and you catch Sarah up. Joel watches your softness teaching, and your gentle movements as you demonstrated to the peaceful music. Standing on your tiptoes and raising your arms, Joel notices the happiness in your eyes right away. It's as if you entered a completely different reality. He appreciates watching you helping Sarah when she was struggling. Urging her to take a deep breath when she got frustrated.
Time passed and class ended, the kids rushing out to their parents and babbling. You walk behind them and walk to the desk in the studio office, grabbing papers and handing them to Joel. You were giving him the rundown of fundraising for the studio, and telling him that you needed Sarah's clothing size for therecital costume. You smiled as you saw him struggling to keep a note of all the important things, but he wanted to know and stay involved as much as possible for his kid. He smirked and held the papers up. “You got it.” He then found Sarah, and you waved as they walked out the door with the other families.
After the studio was cleared for the evening, you collected your bag and water bottle. Then you walked out of the building.
Unlocking your apartment door you took a deep breath. Not even wanting to think about dinner, you plopped yourself on your couch. Then dialed the nearby Chinese place a few blocks from your place on your phone. Deciding to order takeout, seems like the easiest choice, you think to yourself.
While waiting for your food you got up and prepared a side salad for yourself in your tiny kitchen. Then rested your elbow on the counter and scrolled through your missed calls. A few being from your mom, shit. You then decide to call her tomorrow, it has already been a long day. Along with wanting to start choreographing the recital dance, even though it would be months away, you still wanted to feel on top of things.
A few hours then passed, and the discarded chinese boxes were still on your coffee table. You had your laptop laying on your chest as you focused. Then looking at the time you groan, placing your laptop at the edge of the couch. You then sit up and stretch, and get ready for bed.
You are now snuggled into the soft duvet and your head resting on your pillow. Your mind wandering in your pool of thoughts as you try to sleep. You cannot help but keep thinking of Joel. Something about him made you want to learn more.
A few days pass and you are currently in between classes, so you took a break in your office. Typing away on your computer, replying to emails sent by parents, and filling out papers for Miss Beatrice, who owns the studio.
Completely focused on your work, there was a light knock on your door. Startled out of your trance, you looked up. It was Joel, who had a nervous smile as he held his hand up to wave.
“Hope m’ not interruptin’ anything?” he says cautiously. You shake your head, close your laptop and tuck a piece of your hair behind your ear. “Not at all, Mr. Miller. Come on in.” you give a warm smile and gesture for him to sit down at the seat across from your desk. He does so and sits himself down and clears his throat. “None of that, please…Mr. Miller is my father.” he teases. You smile and begin talking again, “Alright then, Joel. What can I help you with?” you smile.
He shifts in his seat and rubs the back of his neck. You could tell something was bothering him. “Sarah has been talkin’ about starting dance lessons for a while now, and I’m excited I was able to get her here.” You nod, and Joel continues talking. “The problem is that I had no idea how much this would cost..” he slightly chuckles.
“Joel, we are very flexible with our parents. We even offer all sorts of different sorts of payment plans.” you explain. He slowly nods and gives a sigh of relief. “And I will do everything I can to help you guys...Sarah is a really bright student. I would hate to see her leave.” you say sincerely.
“Thank you very much.” he says. “Really means a lot..what you say ‘bout Sarah.” he says proudly. There's a beat of silence between Joel and you. Next thing you know you’re looking in your desk drawer for a sticky note. Scribbling down your number on the piece of paper and slide it across to him. He takes it and examines it. “What’s this?” he drawls.
“It’s my phone number, in case you have any more questions for me.” you smile. He nods with a smile. “I really wish I could help you more today, but I have another class that starts in a few minutes.” you say. Joel then stands up and puts the piece of paper in his back jean pocket. He then follows you out of the office, and you open the door. Noticing him gently placing his hand on the small of your back.
After you both say final goodbyes, you take a deep breath. Watching him exit the building you turn around. It's okay, It's okay, you give all the parents your phone number. You think to yourself. Your mind was churning. You enter the studio and begin warming up and greet the students as they walk in.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
if i’m honest, i don’t know anyone personally that is quite literally “chronically online”, and this it’s just a new word people throw around cause at some point you have to be off your phone during the day, but if you genuinely have issues with it as someone who does enjoy the internet dearly but knows when to stop LET ME HELP!! (we love u regardless)
don’t look at your phone when you wake up tbh it’s not that hard, typically when you first wake up you have to pee so you shouldn’t be taking you phone in the bathroom. why would you put your precious phone in such dangerous zones anyway? there’s water EVERYWHERE NOOOO :( but srsly make it a habit to not get on your phone at least for the first five minutes when you wake up. and the internet is usually really serious and heavy nowadays, and waking your mind up on a fresh plate of trauma?? no thank you. also if you don’t get on it first thing in the morning, you aren’t gonna be so bent abt it later on
when’s the last time you vacuumed? swept? CLEAN YOUR ROOM!! it’s actually fun esp when you have banging music in the bg and BAM you just spent 30 minutes to an hour not on your phone!!
take a sexy walk ik it’s typical but hot girls love walking, maybe take a quick trip to the store. cut on some fun music and take a walk. grab a few snacks or maybe stop by the park. you’re never to old for the park, don’t let other boring adults tell you so. the park is free, fun and ageless!!
read something break open a book you’ve always wanted to read, or better yet walk to the library. it’s very cute and aesthetic and very lana del rey vinyl
cook!! cook something for yourself, things always taste better homemade especially if you made it yourself! i always find learning new meals and recipes super fun and to make it better you can meal plan!
learn and new hobbie/skill it can never hurt to learn something new, i’ve realized as i’ve gotten older one of the reason why so many mindlessly scroll is cause y’all have no interests! draw, paint, start a sims lp, learn to program, sew idc i think stimulating yourself and having healthy hobbies is really good. idk how yall function with no hobby
do your makeup perfecting your base is always good, try out new makeup or some makeup hacks. find a signature style or eye look!
spa day! it never hurts to take a trip to the spa or your local nail salon. and if you can’t afford or you’re not in the mood to go out do a at home spa! set up a warm bath with all the fixings. bath bombs, bath crystals, candles, rose pedals you name it! and sweet face mask and you’re favorite song. some nail painting and you feel fresh and new
plan an outfit! i think having outfits planned for events or even making signature go to outfits can be fun and super helpful on cutting time in the future
watch a movie if there a movie you’ve always wanted to see, or a movie you’ve been putting off go watch it! better yet you can take a fun trip to the movie theater!

Jensen Ackles | JIBCon, Solo Panel, (Rome, Italy, August 28 2022)
Tumblr media
(x)
Jensen panel. Will he do any more theatre? No, that was a huge mistake. A musical? “A musical??? ” (x)
Would Jensen do more theater work? “Nope, Few Good Men was a mistake, that was 120 pages long and I was on like 100!” And musical? “Um, maybe” You sing so well, and act! “Yeah, I can do both…”  (x)
He likes challenges, so maybe… but he doesn't plan that far in the future  (x)
Jensen recently saw Music Man with Hugh Jackman. Was blown away. It was a lot of fun. Made him think if he wants to do that. Answer? “Nah. I’d have to do jazz hands.” But we’ll see. He doesn’t know what he’ll do in 6 months.  (x)
He loves directing because it makes him think in a different perspective and it’s challenging. So maybe to the musical. The only musical he’s ever done is West Side Story.  (x)
One thing Jensen doesn’t miss is being trapped in the Impala with Jared after Jared had a burrito. Yellow Fever is an ep that comes to mind because it was funny through and through. But funniest scene is “the whole show”. (x)
Jensen panel: Every scene over the past 15 years was the funniest scene #jib12  (x)
Tumblr media
(x)
They were able to do risky storylines and go meta thanks to the fans. Because we stuck with them.  (x)
Q about iconic lines. Does he realize they’re iconic when he reads the script or when he films them? Both. Sometimes it will come up filming. SB was more on the page but one day Kripke was in set & he & Kripke brainstormed lines on the spot. #jib12  (x)
There’s a freedom to be creative. Healthy work environment, The Boys is not a toxic set “of which there are a lot of”. Sometimes he doesn’t realize a line will be iconic, other times one will not hit.  (x)
Jensen thinks the writers just wrote SB that way and hoped he can deliver. Doesn’t think Kripke demanded it. Kripke came up with “can’t go in dry” on the spot. Jensen mentions Paul Reiser had a lot of iconic lines too.  (x)
The audition scene for SB was the scene with The Legend, Paul Reiser. So many good lines. (x)
The legend dialogue was the audition scene for Jensen.  (x)
How was it being Dean again? “Like slipping into an old pair of sneakers. Just leaning against that car again…” There will not be a lot of visible Dean in it though. They reshot some of the Pilot. John Schowalter (sp?) stepped in 4 Sigriccia. He’s excited for us to see it.  (x)
Favorite beer in Family Business? He doesn't know, because there's a rotation of beer types and he hasn't been home for 2 months... but he likes Grackle  (x)
Fave beer on tab? Since he hasn’t been home in 2 months, he doesn’t know what’s on tab right now, but the Grackle is always on and it’s his go to. “But don’t drink too much of it, it’ll get ya.”  (x)
Tumblr media
(x)
‘Is it time for apple juice? Someone let me know when it’s 12’ (x)
Does he want to be the lead on another long running show? Yes, he has no problem with it. A few projects in early development with him as lead, particularly a movie he’s excited about. But he doesn’t talk about things until they’re a sure thing, so no teasers. (x)  He just likes good stories, to entertain. That’s his thing. (x)
JENSEN TALKED ABOUT THERE BEING PROJECTS. AT LEAST ONE MOVIE. AND THE LEAD ON A TV SHOW. NOTHING FOR SURE YET. BUT THEY'RE SITTING DOWN AT TABLES. HE JUST DROPPED THAT BOMB? (x)
‘I would take a lead again, if the story was right’ (x)
Jensen wants “apple juice” and two of the three bottles are actual apple juice. “You tricked me. What is going on here.”  (x)
‘It’s actually apple juice - you tricked me!’ (x)
Tumblr media
At his first con in the UK, a multi fandom con, he thought he was just a face in the crowd and Jensen and Wayne were overwhelmed with the reception. First time Jensen thought “we might get another season”  (x)
How is Jensen practicing his voice drop? He never had any proper training, never did any work, it just naturally went down. It’s JDMs fault. “He’s so cool. I wanna be him when I grow up. I’m still waiting for that.”  (x)
Jensen says that in the first season of SPN admired Jeffrey Dean Morgan so much that he wanted to be like him when he grows up. (x)
He doesn't think his singing voice has changed that much over the years, his speaking voice has changed more. And he never took singing lessons or anything like that!  (x)

♥️ HAPPY VALENTINES DAY ♥️
i hope everyone is having a wonderful day and remember that this day isnt just for couples, make sure to love and care for yourself SMOOCHES ALL YALLS HEADS.
LMAO that being said lets go thru and discuss what the batfamily is doing on this sweet little day ^_^
Bruce and Selina spent an incredibly romantic evening together!! Bruce took her out to see a show with a really really yummy dinner after. Then bought her a shiny new piece of jewelry which she will forever cherish. When they finished allll that, he brought her back to the manor for a relaxing bubble bath together… then.. maybe kinda did some nsfw stuff. FUCK!! OLD PEOPLE DOIN THE NASTY!!!
Dick and Kori were a little more tame. They decided to spend their day out at the aquarium!! Kori said she’d never been and showed extreme interest in going. Dick prepaid so that they could spend the entire day there. Kori fucking adored it. ADORED it. every single fish was just beyond beautiful to her, the amount of times she went “that ones my favorite” just made Dick laugh every time, always agreeing that that one was his favorite too. They stayed till closing. Dick brought Kori to a look out point after picking up a pizza so they could watch the city and eat. It was beyond perfect, something Kori will remember forever.
Jason and Roy wanted to stay in so badly but the more Roy sat and thought about it… the more he wanted to do something so Jay planned this little picnic. They decided on this little hiking spot since they both loved to.. hike. they spent most of their morning making their way up to the spot Jason claimed would be perfect to eat at. When they got there they set up their lunch. They had little sandwiches, some fruit and a whole ass bottle of wine!!! sooooo chessy but so so yummy. They giggled and goofed off as they ate, watching the world below them. no one else mattered in this moment besides them. it was cliché but FUCK did Roy treasure this.
Tim and Bernard did something sooo teenagery. They began their day by meeting up for ice cream. mhm. Tim got cookies n cream while Bernard got like something kinda gross like mango… Then, they made their way down to the arcade where Bernie SCHOOOOLLLED Tim in like haaalf the games. which??? to Tim that was fine because he got a buncha little toys outta it so.. After Bernards gloating fest, they went to go get some chicken waaaangs. MM!!! they feasted, finding a bottomless wing place. they ate till their tummies felt like they were gonna bust. THEN, Tim brought Bernard home. They watched ghostbusters and had a cute little sleepover. GODDD THATS ADORABLE. BYE.
Damian and Nika were so shy and awks in the beginning of their date. Damian had asked Nika if maybe she’d be interested in seeing a movie. Nika called him lame but agreed nonetheless. The two went and saw something silly since Damian knew Nika wouldn’t enjoy something more serious. He bought her ticket, snacks anything else she wanted. He just spoiled her.. just like his papa ngl. she loooved it and Damian lowkey did too. They probably grabbed a small bite to eat, not really being toooooo hungry since they filled up on theater snacks, but they ate something anyway!! they walked arooound, looked into some shops theyve never been in and by the time they decided they were done, the sun set. Damian brought her up to a rooftop to they could look at stars and talk. Damian def gushed about this night to Dick and Jon. He loved it.
HEYYY HEYY LOOKIT ME COMIN IN WITH THE NEW SHIPS HUH??? nika and damian are becoming such a favorite rn!! im so excited to continue to learn about them!! and i fought with myself to either do tim n kon or tim and bernie… to keep things canon, i went with timber.. but i may do some hc for timkon in the future. ANYWAY!!! I LOVE U ALL AND HOPE YOU HAVE A FUN V-DAY! SMOOCH SMOOCH

Pairings: Chris Evans x reader

Note: Just a little something to tide ya over for a while :) Happy holidays everyone, hoping to have part seven to you after the new year as well as some new things I've been working on AND a return to Flight 1311 that I paused when I started expanding Moments.
Moments Masterlist
Tumblr media
2013: DC/Boston/on location
Chris started at his phone, trying to convince himself that if he looked at it hard enough, it would ring. He’d been doing this off and on for the last 15 minutes. If he was honest with himself, he’d been doing it since he woke up. His nerves were frayed, he’d had to cancel two other phone meetings today to have his phone free. But now, it was closing in on 7 pm and it was getting harder to breathe.
Tumblr media
“I’ll call you tomorrow.”
“What time?”
“Tomorrow.”
“Y/N, are you going to call?”
“I love you, but I’m hanging up right now. I need to think and I can’t do that when I’m this mad at you.”
He convinced himself to set his phone down long enough to get dinner together. If she’d waited this long, he wouldn’t miss it in the time it took to heat the meal that the nutritionist had prepared. Bumbling around the kitchen he crashed into drawers he left partially open and things fumbled out of his hands. He could hardly see straight; he was so worked up. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t stop himself from glancing at the kitchen island to see if the screen had lit up.
24 hours earlier, he’d woken up in Y/N’s apartment. The weekend he’d envisioned while he stood at Lowe’s and had a spare key made was much different than what had panned out. He’d pictured hugging and giggling and googling interior design changes. He’d pictured making love and whispering sweet nothings while they worked towards this new stage in their relationship.
He had not pictured the argument.
“Chris,” Y/N paced her bedroom, her hands running through her hair, “I just don’t understand how you can think this isn’t a lot to put on me.”
“And I don’t understand why you won’t see that this is the way it has to be!” Chris snapped back. He was sitting on the end of her bed watching her pace back and forth.
“Why is this how it has to be? Because you make more money than me? Because your job is more important than mine? You know I love Lisa, but I don’t want to work at the theater. I want to do my job with my clients and come home to my apartment with my friends. You’re asking me to move my entire life and you want me to do it immediately.”
“I didn’t say any of that other stuff. And I didn’t say immediately.”
Y/N dropped her hands to her sides and they slapped aggressively on her thighs, making a loud smack, “you’re right, you said in 10 weeks when your filming is wrapped and you’re settled back in Boston. Excuse me, that’s not immediately.” Sarcasm dripped off of every word.
“Why is this so awful? I want a future with you, Y/N, and I want it to start as soon as possible.”
“Don’t try to make me the bad guy here because I’m holding my ground.”
“So I’m the bad guy?”
“No one is the bad guy!” She cried while real tears filled her eyes, “This is just so like you. You’re so impulsive and you’re so passionate and fuck if I don’t love both of those things about you but not when it comes to my entire life. You dropped this on me within an hour of being here and then it’s been a cloud over the whole weekend. We get so little time together, Chris, I just wish this could’ve gone differently.” Y/N winced as soon as the words were out of her mouth. She didn’t mean to make it sound like such criticism. This was just so overwhelming. She’d thought this weekend would be a lovefest before he finished out his latest project. She hadn’t anticipated this massive change of plans and she really wasn’t ready to drop her whole life for him.
“Okay, so if you don’t want to move in with me, you could’ve just said no. You don’t have to call me an impulsive passionate bad guy who ruins our time together.” Chris knew he was laying it on thick, but he was hurt. He truly thought Y/N would agree immediately and jump into his arms while they celebrated.
He hadn’t thought about what he was asking her to do. He thought about how it impacted him– she’d said as much the day before and they’d agreed to put a pin in the conversation until now so they could enjoy the time they had.
But now, his flight back home was in three hours, and she hadn’t given him an answer. Rather than admit that he was hurt and sad, he dug his heels in; unfortunately, his girlfriend was equally stubborn.
“Let me be clear,” she came to stand in front of him and he resisted the urge to put his hands on her waist. She was in her short, fuzzy bathrobe and her long legs were calling his name. The belt around her waist was cinched tightly but in her pacing and flailing, her cleavage was more exposed. Chris forced himself to focus on her face. That beautiful face he’d loved for forever. The same one that was crushing him right now as he thought about the rejection she might give him, “I love you, Christopher,” she put her hands on his shoulders and he took the invitation to touch her waist and pull her in between his legs, “and I’m not trying to make you feel bad or to make this seem like I don’t want to live with you. I’m just begging you to see this from my perspective. I love my apartment, I love my job, I love my friends, and I love my life here. To change all of that is a big deal and I need to think about it.”
“So you’re saying no?” He asked quietly.
“I’m saying no right now,” she clarified. “I’m saying no this weekend. But really I’m saying give me time to think it through and figure out what I want.”
Chris nodded. On some level, he did understand that this was a significant life change that she should have the time to process. He’d had the time to think about it and how it would change his life, so he needed to give her that time.
“Can you just let me bring it up again? When I’m ready to talk it through with you, I’ll bring it up. I need you not to push it right now.”
“I can respect that,” he nodded again and gladly accepted the kiss she leaned in to give him.
He had, however, not respected that.
Y/N dropped him at the airport and they said an awkward goodbye by the car; she’d kissed him but they’d both felt the strain. He’d flown home and called her when he got there. The whole flight and drive back with his mom, he’d thought about everything. He had another few days in Boston where he had a few odds and ends to take care of before he went back to location and in the car running errands he’d called her. He’d apologized profusely and she’d been grateful for his understanding.
And yet even with such a productive, mature conversation with his partner, he couldn’t help himself. He’d still said, “So when do you think you’ll have a decision.”
Y/N’s response had been terse and tried to change the subject, asking for him to respect her process.
He’d pushed again, saying, “I just want you here as soon as possible.”
That hadn’t been the right sentiment and had led to her frustration and hanging up and now here he was, standing at the kitchen counter eating boiled chicken and broccoli and hating every bite while he stared at his phone. After he’d finished the plate, rinsed it in the sink, and loaded it in the dishwasher, he came back to the phone to a text notification. Frantically he swiped through the screen to find messages from Y/N.
Y/N: i’m not ready to talk today Y/N: i love you, i’m just really frustrated Y/N: i don’t want to argue with you. it won’t be productive if we talk tonight
Chris wanted to cry. He also wanted to throw his phone across the room as hard as possible. He was mad at Y/N and mad at himself and mad that none of this went the way he’d thought it would.
Chris: ok. i love you. call me when you’re ready
Her replay came quickly: of course, babe 💕
Tumblr media
Y/N set her phone on her nightstand and twisted the gem of her sweatshirt— Chris’s sweatshirt— between her fingers. She was so angry with him that she could hardly stand it.
The last six months had been a whirlwind of love and passion. Chris’s energy was contagious and they’d gotten quickly wrapped up in their love. She loved him so fiercely and would be lying if she said it wasn’t what she wanted: moving in, building a real life that wasn’t out of hotel rooms and suitcases, planning for a future together. But it was just so fast. And Chris had a habit of hoping she’d yield to him.
She didn’t think it was intentional and she knew part of it came with the territory. No one does well in Hollywood without a little vanity and selfishness. He was always asking her to travel- often offering to pay and make all the arrangements, but still asking her to come to him. He liked things his way and he liked things on his terms. She usually held her ground and found that it was something he liked about her. Y/N had her own mind and her own passions and she wanted to be heard. She didn’t want to just be his girlfriend. She’d worked too hard in her career, her hobbies, and her friendships to just roll over and let him push.
And he usually respected that. When she punched back, it usually woke him up and they’d talk and find a compromise. But this was huge; they'd never had to compromise on something this significant and life-changing. And he hadn’t thought about her changed at all. It was clear in their conversations about it that he didn’t want his world to change.
Y/N knew that he saw her as more than a bed warmer but it was hard not to feel that way when he’d so cavalierly suggested she move to Boston as casually as one might suggest having pizza instead of sushi for dinner.
If he didn’t see her and think about her perspective in something like this, what about when it came to marriage? Or kids? Or illness? Or jobs? Or any other major life event.
Her heart ached and she reached for her phone. She needed to tell him no. She needed him to understand the weight this put on her. Instead, she let herself scroll through pictures and remember moments in time- their stolen moments as a couple. They didn’t get to just be together. They were always between his locations or her work schedule.
If she moved in with him… they could have Sunday mornings together every weekend. There were plenty of children in need of a good therapist in Boston. She loved his family and hers would love the excuse to travel. If she could make long-distance work with a movie star she could make it work with her friends…
But if she moved she’d have to quit her practice that she loved and set her clients up with other therapists. She’d have to give up her beautiful apartment. She’d have to change her entire life while all he had to do was add her name to the mailbox and make some space in his already spacious closet.
They’d text each day, but between him getting ready to go back to set for the home stretch of filming, and trying to respect Y/N’s request for space, it was four days before Chris’s phone lit up with Y/N’s contact photo.
“Bunny,” he was breathless when he answered the phone; he’d practically sprinted across his rental apartment to snatch it off the counter.
“Hey,” her voice was quiet and Chris’s heart started to thunder in his chest. She was silent for a long moment and then said, “I missed your voice.”
A sigh of relief escaped Chris before he replied, “I missed yours too. How’s it going, honey?”
“I’m ready to talk.”
“Okay,” he was afraid to bring up the move, so he waited for her to continue on her own.
She took a deep breath, “my lease is up May 31.”
He didn’t speak right away and when Y/N didn’t either, he pressed, “that’s in two months.”
“I know,” she paused, “it seems silly to renew my lease if I’m going to end up moving.”
His heart pounded, but he tried to be casual, “so what are you thinking?”
“I want to move in with you,” Y/N’s voice was quiet, “if you’ll still have me.”
“Is it too soon to make jokes? Because I have jokes.”
She laughed, but said, “maybe not quite yet. I know that it's basically the timeline you were thinking of anyway, and it still feels really fast to me. I’ve been trying to think of a way to do this without rushing in and I only have two ideas. One: I find a place and rent it. I can sign a short lease and find a job and we can be nearby and see how that goes.”
Chris could deal with that. Of course, he wanted her at his house. He’d sell this house and find another home with her if that’s what she wanted. He would live in a tent in the woods for the rest of his life if it meant he got to be with her. But he held his breath while she kept talking.
“Option two is all in. I sell or give away most of my stuff, I don’t re-up my lease, I quit my job and start sending my resume to clinics up there.”
“Do you want me to listen or give my opinion?”
Y/N grinned, forgetting he couldn’t see her, “what a perfect response.”
“Well, which do you want?” He was practically panting he was so worked up.
“I want your opinion. Do you think it's smart to go all in or should we try living in the same zip code first? Or should we just for it?”
He tried not to rush his words but they came tumbling out fairly quickly nonetheless, “All in. Please." The prolonged silence made sweat prickle on his hairline. She'd asked for his opinion but she was now silent and he could hear the rustle of her movement on the other end of the line. Chris's phone started to vibrate in his hand and he saw that Y/N was requesting to switch to FaceTime; he accepted quickly and rested her on a pillow next to him.
"Hey, handsome," she cooed, her cozy set up by the window of her apartment back in place, her hair in a messy bun on her head, and her beautiful body wrapped in his sweatshirt. "I needed to see your face."
"You're killing me here, Bun," he admitted, trying to grin but knowing it was more a grimace.
She played coy, "why?"
"Y/N," he said quickly-- a rare occurrence, he seldom called her by her full name. "Come on."
"What, babe?" She was trying and failing to resist giggling and grinning. He wanted to settle his mind: he needed to hear her say it.
"What about the move?"
"Oh that," she took a long sip from the mug she was holding and took her time setting it on the windowsill before turning back to the camera. "I already told my landlord that I'm not renewing my lease."
Chris held his breath, "really?"
"I'm all in, too, Chris."

a few thoughts:
1: With video games, the gang can enter the world of the game if it is a multiplayer game, or like a party game or something, and if it's a game like Minecraft or animal crossing they get an avatar that looks like them, while if they have pre existing characters like Mario kart then they either replace the character and are wearing their outfit, or they have some kind of indicator show up on them like the captures in Mario Odyssey. If it's a game where it doesn't make sense for them to be there, like a point and click game or something, then maybe they get a theatre and a controller, like that one anon suggested, or they can just wander around the game world without actively interacting with things or something. Or they can like, drag the mouse around with their hands and do stuff that way. Once they reach the max amount of players for a game, they become spectators, either joining as a background npc or crowd member or something, or if that doesn't make sense in the game universe then they get a theatre. So if the reader was playing Pokemon scarlet one of the random NPCs in a town would be replaced by them, and in the wilderness they either go to the theater or take the place of a pokemon that can't be battled while they are the Pokemon. In splatoon they could be a jellyfish ig. In a game like the original subnautica where isolation is the point they probably couldn't join the game at all.
2: maybe with the readers app thing, they could select areas and do stuff. Like how you can tell a Roomba to clean a specific area of your house? The reader could set up an area and while they're there they don't get teleported unless they want to, so if they don't want to go with the reader they can just stay home. The reader goes to the store and comes back to them having cleaned the house and made them a pie or something. Maybe they can set up an area that they can't go inside of without permission to keep them out of private areas, or so they can't mess with stuff while the reader works, or something like that.
3: if they are going insane about like, cheap ramen or something, id imagine if the reader knows how to cook they'd immediately be like "I am going to make the best meal these people have ever had" and saves up money to make a nice meal for them, and if they can't cook they just take them to a really nice restaurant, or get food from a relative or something. I'd take them to a good bakery and get them some sweet empanadas and cookies :)
4: your au is really good, love it, want to put it in my mouth like a marble, I have so many brain in my microwave rn. Good food. Tasty. If you are having a good time then keep making content. I just. 🎉🤩💝‼️🔈🔉🔊💯👍✅✴️🎼🔥🌟💌🫂🥭🍽️🥛🍉🎇🎁🏅🏆📢🗯️📈📕📖📝📩
Ahem (Puts on glasses)
Yes they can basically choose whether to join the reader's character in game where their looks will change to match that game's artstyle, they aren't counted as players as the games does no recognize them as such so there is no player limit
2. ... Spoilers for future chapters but there is a plan for that.
3.They would love that, I HC that the food in the digital world isn't exactly bland but there is like a hint of flavour there so it's like having a tastebud bomb when they taste the real world foods
4.I'm glad you like my au! Be careful with eating it though!

💌 !
I decided to write some klapollo for you! It’s been a while, so I hope you enjoy!
Summary: Apollo forgets what day it is when he finally agrees to that restaurant date. Klavier, to his relief, finds it hilarious.
It's around 600 words.
Dinner was fantastic.
Apollo has never been to a place as exquisite as this one. He just always internally accepted the fact that luxury wasn’t something he was going to experience in his life. He bounced from foster home to foster home, just hoping he’d have a better future one day.
Today, he can say he has. He’s crafted his current situation all on his own and he has pride in that. He’s an accomplished lawyer, is self assured, and knows he will build a secure life for himself.
Though he will admit he’s always been curious about what luxury was like. The extravagant restaurants, the fast cars, and wearing clothes more than his salary. Though it was always more of a ‘why would people throw money around like that’ than anything else.
Now he’s finally experienced it, it’s another thing he can assure himself he can make it and it will be fine. Okay, he’s giving himself too much credit for what has unfolded today.
Someone had treated him today.
Finally, the person he accompanied on this meal speaks up. “Danke for accompanying me today. That would’ve been sehr awkward if I went all by myself to abendessen by myself, ja?”
Abendessen…
Must be some German word he hasn’t caught on yet. It must mean meal or something like that. Apollo shrugs his shoulders, knowing either he’ll figure it out eventually, or Prosecutor Gavin will be froh to explain.
Oh, great, he’s thinking like the prosecutor too.
He must be spending too much time with him if he’s influencing his thoughts like this.
Apollo decides to not make this more awkward than it already is and speaks up. “Yeah. Thanks for having me.”
“Bitte.” Prosecutor Gavin flashes a stunning smile before leaning against the railing, observing the stream flowing in front of the restaurant. “So, do you have any plans, Herr Forehead?”
“After this? Probably snuggle with my cat and catch up on some series I’ve been watching.”
“Wirklich?” The prosecutor raises an eyebrow with a scoff. “On Valentine’s Day?”
Oh.
He hadn’t noticed it was Valentine’s Day. He’s been so busy with paperwork. (And if he’s honest, keeping every corner of the Wright Agency clean.) This day hadn’t meant much to him in the past since he wasn’t actually considering going out with anyone.
Well. Until recently.
Now he’s somehow gotten himself a date by accident on Valentine’s Day. Ironically, with the person he keeps trying to subtly glance at for a second more when he walks in the room. He actually won’t deny he finds his rival attractive and he’s pleasant company, even if he is sort of strange.
“...Would you believe me if I said I didn’t realize today was Valentine’s Day and I just thought we were going out to dinner as colleagues?” Apollo admits with a light flush on his face, thankful the sun has already begun to set so the prosecutor can’t see his embarrassment.
To his shock, the prosecutor’s beautiful blue eyes glisten before he bursts into a fit of laughter. That laughter is replaced with a bright smile as he composes himself. “Ja, that does sound like something you would do. Well, you’re already here. I was thinking of going to the kino. What do you say?”
He hasn’t heard that one. “What’s a kino?”
“Oh, a movie theater.” Prosecutor Gavin explains with a shrug. "I'm not sure if it'll be packed, but we can check."
Apollo crosses his arms before tapping his forehead. He’s already here, after all. He nods. “You know what? Why not? I’ll warn you, I didn’t bring a Valentine’s gift.”
Prosecutor Gavin’s smile only widens at the response. “Nein. Don’t worry about that. Your company is more than enough.”

DCEU 10 Year Anniversary: "I Have No Idea Where I Am Going To Be Tomorrow, But I Accept The Fact That Tomorrow Will Come" (Edit-- Tomorrow Is Not Coming I Guess)
Tumblr media
The quote in the subtitle for this retrospective comes from Titans/Young Justice: Graduation Day. Donna is talking to a concerned Cassie Sandsmark-- old guard assuring the new guard, promising that though the future is inherently uncertain, the important thing is they rise to meet the challenge.
Donna, in Graduation Day, is killed by a Superman robot, and Cassie is ultimately disillusioned and leaves behind her group of inseparable Young Justice teammates.
For a while, it kind of seemed like the DCEU was going the same way.
For some context: I was 13 when Man of Steel, the first movie in the DCEU, released in theaters (and I DID see it in theaters when it came out, maybe a week or two after opening weekend because I was 13 and still in a town where the nearest new releases theater was about half an hour to forty-five minutes from home). As of now (a little over a week after I started writing this post), I'm officially 23 years old-- by the time I'm halfway to 24, the DCEU will officially be 10 years old.
I don't particularly know why this hit me now. Maybe it's because I'm another year older and haven't particularly liked myself for the last few years and wanted to focus my attention on something I did love, or maybe it's because the more I think about it, the less ten-years-old the DCEU feels, OR maybe it's because the DCEU just had a formal set of captains announced in James Gunn & Peter Safran which naturally kind of lends to looking back at what came before to try and figure out, well, where we're going to be tomorrow.
And because that fascinated me, and because we just had the 12th DCEU movie come out (yes I do count Josstice League and ZSJL as two different movies), I felt the need to kind of look back on everything and unpack my feelings on each project.
So that's what I'm going to do.
I did a similar kind of post a couple of weeks ago for Phase 4 of the MCU, but I'm not actually going to rate these movies because I feel like the DCEU movies themselves in comparison to Marvel, my feelings about them are a lot more...complex and not very easy to assign a ranked number to. And I kind of just want the freedom to talk about the movies and how they made me feel and how I feel about them today.
Pop your popcorn and feel free to leave your own thoughts in reblogs and replies.
EDITOR'S NOTE!
Hi, I thought I could just put this post aside for a week and nothing could happen. Anyway, my hubris has become my downfall again and now I guess I have no reason to put this off given that the DCEU as a concept is effectively dead.
I put an addendum in the title to kind of underscore the news out this week confirmed by James Gunn that both the Henry Cavill Clark Kent that kind of encapsulates this era and the larger DCEU in its current form are all but dead, but I think it's kind of...it doesn't REALLY capture the full effect of how I feel about the potential future of DC films, but I'll save that for the end. You're here for tea. It's below the keep reading. I promise.
Man of Steel (06/14/2013)-- dir. Zack Snyder
Tumblr media
Now that Henry Cavill is back as Superman (Future Kat: and now that he's been once again cut out of future plans for the time being lolol oops), I feel like it's overdue for me to retrospect his whole run in the DCEU so far, and I feel like over time, I've become...a lot kinder about Henry Cavill's Superman? And I feel like a lot of that is because of my own learning about how the filmmaking process works and what's in the actor's control vs. the directors and writers and producers, as well as kind of just watching other parts of his filmography, especially The Witcher.
I don't mean that in a way of like "wow his Geralt shows how great he'd be as a true modern day Superman" because Geralt and Clark Kent are EONS apart as far as character types and mannerisms. I mean I think it kind of opened me up to what Henry Cavill can do as an actor and even though the Witcher scripts aren't STELLAR, he's an excellent performer.
I kind of remember my very first impression of this movie being a mixture of awe and confusion-- I think the movie was a couple of weeks old, but I'm a DC stan first and a human being second and I was really excited to have a Superman for MY generation. And then I just???? Didn't really like him????? I think Zack Snyder is really good at painting striking imagery and moments, but the script just didn't really hit, now that I'm old enough to look back on it and rewatch it and articulate what I don't like about it. I know the idea is that Snyder's Clark feels kind of detached and is struggling with wanting to be connected to humanity but being inherently stronger and more powerful than them, but that's the SAME thing they tried with New 52 Superman, and it didn't work then, and it doesn't work now. It's not even a concept that doesn't work for Superman in general. DC Comics is very much the company of Gods Trying To Be Human. I just don't think MoS got it across in an effective way that makes US feel invested in Clark.
Also this is an ice cold take but Amy Adams was robbed. I don't know who she was playing in this movie but it was not fucking Lois Lane. Amy Adams was ROBBED.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (03/25/2016)-- dir. Zack Snyder
Tumblr media
They Sure Made This Movie Huh.
This is one I actually waited until it came out on DVD to watch, and I do have to say not only is it a slog to sit through-- no matter how many times I try to rewatch it, I can only make it through while streaming it with friends-- but the HARDEST part of this movie comes down to the fact that I just do not buy that Batman and Superman should be fighting.
A good Batman & Superman conflict stems from the difference in ideology of the characters: Batman, while he can be hopeful, ultimately upholds the flawed justice system while claiming to work outside of it, while Superman is generally associated with rehabilitation, compassion, hope, and honesty.
In this movie, though, Clark doesn't get to DO much of anything to differentiate him from Batman because Lex is pulling so many of the strings, and Bruce is just so.......................................The Dark Knight Returns of it all was a mistake and I don't think it did anything to make the conflict between the two engaging. It's not like Superman doesn't want to kill people and Batman (again because of the Dark Knight Returns of it all) is getting Rougher, it's one of those conflicts that could be resolved by like. Having ONE conversation.
I also feel like this movie, as I've said ad infinitum, was just trying to be TOO many things. It was Man of Steel 2. It was Batman 1. It was Wonder Woman 0.5. It was Death of Superman. It was Dark Knight Returns. And because of it, it didn't succeed at ANY of it. There's a lot of WB Fingerprints on the blueprint of this movie, and a lot of Snyder Fingerprints, and also a lot of Man of Steel just...not being a franchise vehicle. It doesn't come off that way when you watch it. It doesn't have the environmental richness needed and works a lot better as a character study rather than a franchise springboard.
I do have to say one GOOD thing about this movie, though, and that is the fact that it contains the FUNNIEST accidental canon contradiction in the world by having Patrick Wilson do a voice cameo as The President Of The United States. Yes I DO have my own personal headcanon for how this works with his OTHER DCEU character. No I will NOT elaborate unless asked.
Suicide Squad (08/05/2016)-- dir. David Ayer
Tumblr media
Margot Robbie and Viola Davis deserve awards for carrying this entire movie on their backs-- anyway, now that that's out of the way...
This is another one I waited for DVD for, but that was mainly because I was coming off the heels of a long NYC vacation and school was about to start up again (I think this was the start of my junior year? *does some math* Yeah, I was a junior in high school at this time) and I was a busy busy teen but we don't have time to get into my perfectionism issues and completely-ignored anxiety issues at the time.
This movie is not really...a movie, I think, but more a series of short music videos/needle-drop sequences put together in a way that kind of creates a story? It has a LOT of needle-drop sequences in it. Like, a LOT. So many that when I think of this movie, I don't really think of individual scenes or lines or even characters, even if this movie gave us Viola Davis' STELLAR Amanda Waller. I think of all the musical moments. House of the Rising Sun. You Don't Own Me. Fortunate Son. I don't really think it's very effective to rely on the music to explain (sometimes poorly) to the audience the tone of the scene or inform about the character. That's kind of what you have actors there for.
And I guess we should probably discuss the elephant in the room that is Jared Leto's Joker, even though I really don't want to, but I'll at least give it a mention. I'll keep it brief, though, because a lot of what I have to say has been said to death before-- I don't MIND them trying a different angle with the Joker, I just don't think it landed. And I'll openly say I'm not married to Heath Ledger's preceding Dark Knight Joker (yes his work as an actor was stellar. No I don't think it offers anything particularly innovative and it doesn't always feel like a Joker to me), that was never my problem with Jared Leto. It was a valiant effort, but Leto's Joker really does feel designed to cater to the Edgy Teen crowd and that's not really Joker to me, either.
Again, I think studio fingerprints are all over this film, but I don't think I would have been in love with Ayer's version either, and I don't need to see an "Ayer Cut."
Wonder Woman (06/02/2017)-- dir. Patty Jenkins
Tumblr media
I remember seeing this one. I REMEMBER it. And I remember CRYING in the theater. Mainly because 17-year-old me NEEDED this movie. Like, needed it, desperately, but because it just has a lot of heart behind it, and I don't think that's an accident.
You can tell that Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot and the cast and crew have a lot of love for Wonder Woman, both as a character and as a concept. Wonder Woman is historically an arbiter of truth and justice and compassion and all that good stuff, and it really shines through in the movie. So much so that even a lot of its weaknesses I'm willing to forgive.
I do wish Diana had more women to interact with in the film. I get what they were going for here, but it felt so odd to have a film so definitively trying NOT to be "women good men bad" (even if it does kind of feel like it sometimes, I'll get into it in another post maybe if people have interest) where it was so focused on isolating Diana from other women and how much Diana didn't fit into Man's World.
But like, even with the things I didn't like and don't like when I look back on it, this film had a HUGE impact on me. I still have a quote from Diana's climactic "deserve vs. believe" speech at the end in my blog bio. The idea that people should do good and work to make things better no matter how hurtful the rest of the world seems is a HUGE part of my ethos personally, and this movie is almost exclusively what affirmed that for me and set it in stone.
Josstice League (11/17/2017) --dir. J*ss Wh*don
Tumblr media
(Yes I know this gif is from the Snyder Cut but if there was ever a movie that exuded I'll Make Tea energy for me it's this one)
I...............................................................................................................
*sighs*
I know the exact moment I knew I was going to hate this movie.
Picture this. You are me. You are at the movies. You are watching Josstice League for the first time. You are having a good time in the first half, because you are really liking the supporting case of the JLA and you loved Wonder Woman and are so happy to see Gal Gadot back and Jason Momoa is so fun as Aquaman and you really like Ray Fisher a lot and are so intrigued by his Cyborg and Ezra Miller's Flash is pretty fun too and yeah Ben Affleck is there and you don't care about Batman but you are having a GREAT TIME WITH YOUR NEW JLA!
And then they lose ONE fight and Batman says "fuck it. We gotta resurrect Superman. We can't do this without Superman. Let's bring him back from the dead."
And you slowly, horrifically realize that this is not, in the end, going to be a Justice League movie. This is going to be a movie where all the fun new friends you just met, most for the first time, try their best but ultimately just sit back and let Superman do all the hard stuff.
I have a lot of problems with Josstice League, and now you're all going to hear about it.
I'm not here to talk about the boob fall scene, or the quippiness of the humor, or the fact that no one here seems to really like each other, or that this is almost basically just Avengers but with the serial numbers filed away and given new ones over it. I'm here to talk about the fact that, at the end of the day, the movie is not about the Justice League.
There is no teamwork in this film. There is no bonding in this film. There are no friendly co-workers in this film. This is not an ensemble movie or even a team movie. This is a Batman movie with some side characters who SHOULD be more important than they are written that is later turned into a Batman/Superman movie with some side characters who should be more important than they are written.
I don't know why WB Studios thought the best move would be to bring Joss Whedon in to essentially remake Avengers and hope it would work, because at the end of the day, the Avengers and the Justice League have two very different dynamics going for them.
The Avengers are a found family, but a very dysfunctional one. They argue a lot. They split into factions a lot. They constantly switch out members because people are always dealing with too many personal complexities to maintain the teamwork. But they are, for all their faults, a family.
The Justice League are a found family, but in a very different way. Yes, they have disagreements. Yes, there are ideological conflicts among members. But at the core, the team is a group of individuals who come from all walks of life and yet all share the same loneliness. Whether it be Clark's alien status on a human planet, or Diana's deliberate separation from all she's ever known, or Bruce's self-imposed isolation out of grief for his parents, everyone on the Justice League has felt loneliness, and they stick together because they realize they are no longer alone and they do not have to be.
You can have them argue and have pet peeves with each other, but they can't not like each other at all on some level. And I did not see anyone on that team who liked each other, not even Diana and Bruce, my poor little WonderBat heart from the JLU cartoon days weeps.
Also, Ray Fisher was robbed. We all knew that, but it bears repeating. He was robbed.
Aquaman (12/21/2018)-- dir. James Wan
Tumblr media
I've already talked this one to death so I won't keep you here too long lmaooooooooooooo
No but like for real, I love Aquaman. I love this movie. It's comfort food for me. I have a lot of love and respect for James Wan as a filmmaker, and I do think the smartest thing WB ever did was start hiring horror directors to do their superhero films because horror has SO much creativity in it, historically.
I know when the cast was announced, I was definitely confused because it just seemed like a very eclectic group of actors (Khal Drogo, Ed Warren, Boba Fett, Satine from Moulin Rouge, Ivan Drago, and Norman Osborn?????), but the end result was just so, so good. It explores deep themes if you're willing to read them, but it's also just a lot of explosive (literally) dumb fun.
Also, my blorbo. My special boy. My little war criminal. Mwah.
Shazam (04/05/2019)-- dir. David F. Sandberg
Tumblr media
*presses mouth directly to microphone*
Shazam Fucking Slaps.
I think this is probably one of the strongest DCEU films and that's probably because it just lets itself be as bananas and fun as it wants. It really plays with the concept of "Big but it's Superheroes" to the fullest and has the feel of an 80s movie like The Goonies or The Sandlot, which isn't a bad thing at all. It's hard not to love seeing Billy and Freddy run around and geek out over how cool it is to have superpowers, especially because I remember being a kid like Freddy once and it absolutely warmed my heart to see Billy develop his relationships with all of his new siblings and his new family.
I also really love that this movie wasn't afraid to get kind of Dark at times despite having the Shazamily all over it. Again, WB having horror directors like Sandberg do their superhero films was a GREAT choice because of the inventiveness they have and the way it allows for Billy to really have a chance to grow both as Billy Batson and as the Champion and face really ultimately uncomfortable and scary things.
Also I related to Mary a little too hard here. I was like "wow she's just like me" and then I was like "hmmmm i think i have Unresolved Personal Issues."
Birds of Prey (02/07/2020) --dir. Cathy Yan
Tumblr media
I-- okay. Okay. Okay. First let me share a fun fact: this movie, I actually saw at an exclusive early screening event WB hosted for my university about two days before the movie released, and also this was the last movie I saw before the Global Panini happened.
Okay, so I think this is a GREAT Harley Quinn movie, especially for the Harley of the current era. I like that it's fun and vibrant and colorful and just lets itself be about women who want to beat people up and do so in the most over-the-top explosive sometimes gross way possible, and I also like that it doesn't shy away from Harley being a bad person in certain moments. Like, sure, she's very much the protagonist of this movie, but she's still kind of an ass to everyone around her, even to the people she likes like Cassandra. Also, again, Margot Robbie is just fun to watch in this role. She's probably one of my favorite actors of the 21st century so far (with I, Tonya being one of my favorite movies ever), and it's clear that she loves being Harley Quinn and has a ton of fun with the role.
As a Birds of Prey movie.....................................................that kind of just isn't what it is at all. I get Margot Robbie's logic from what I understand from the behind-the-scenes development of the movie-- the Birds of Prey from the comics are a group of badass women and they go kind of unsung for the wider audience and she wanted to highlight them, and that's cool and I agree with her-- I just don't think this movie accomplished that with Harley at the center of it.
I think there IS a version of this movie that accomplishes both things, and also lets Cassandra Cain ACTUALLY be Cassandra Cain and not just Pre-Transition Jason Todd, but I don't think that's the movie we got. The movie we got is a lot of fun! I loved it! I think it's fun to watch, it's fun to talk about, I always have a good time with it. But I don't know if I'd call it a Birds of Prey movie.
Wonder Woman 1984 (12/25/2020)-- dir. Patty Jenkins
Tumblr media
*blows out a long breath of air*
I have a lot of..................complicated feelings about this movie.
I don't really have a problem with the cheesiness of it all-- like I said above, I think that's been a strong point for a DCEU that has been way more willing to lean into the cheesiness of comics in general compared to the MCU (especially EARLY MCU). It really does seek to emulate an 80s action movie with magic and action and big set pieces, and that's fine.
I also definitely GET what they were going for here. I can see all the moving pieces and the themes and everything, and I don't even necessarily think it's a bad thing or a bad story for Diana's character.
I just-- listen, as much as I love Chris Pine and as much as I loved WonderTrev in the first movie, I...think the BIGGEST mistake of this movie was framing it around WonderTrev.
Steve was a really important part of Diana's life, and I can see her struggling with her grief, but I just do NOT think it works to have Diana feeling isolated and lonely in Man's World SPECIFICALLY because Steve isn't there with her. Double especially because I think framing this movie around a tragic friendship to enemyhood between Diana and Barbara is so much more effective! A lot of the parts of Diana's character and mythos that make her unique and compelling like the Amazons end up lost in the Steve of it all, and that's SO sad to me because the idea of Diana having to contend with the greed and envy and gluttony for power among humanity is a GREAT story! I just wish it had been framed on a different idea.
Also it was lovely to see Lynda Carter in this movie. Fuck, don't show this post to her. I forgot she's here now. Fuck. Oh god the nerd embarrassment is hitting I'm sorry Lynda
Zack Snyder's Justice League (03/10/2021) --dir. Zack Snyder
Tumblr media
Okay, so I WAS a Snyder Cut truther from the beginning. Partly for the meme, and partly because I hated Josstice League so much that I needed to believe there was something better out there, and to my credit (and everyone else's), I was right.
Just because the movie is better AS FAR AS THE STORY GOES though doesn't mean it's not full of the ZS stuff that I'm not a fan of, like a lot of the slomo and tacking on the Knightmare future ending at the end-- I always kind of hated the Knightmare concept and I'm glad we'll never get to see it actually. But DUDE this was SO GOOD.
I especially ADORE all the added content with Cyborg. Ray Fisher is a PHENOMENAL actor and Victor's storyline is absolutely the best part of the movie that makes even the slower parts worth it. Actually, let me tell you WHERE you can watch more stuff he's been in because he absolutely deserves a career boost after all the shit WB put him through:
He was in the HBO series True Detective's third season as a main character, which is obviously on HBO Max along with ZSJL.
He had a role in the ABC series Women of the Movement, which is about Mamie Till-Mobley and the murder of Emmett Till centered on her activism right after his murder. This one you can watch on Hulu or the ABC website itself.
He's also GOING to be in Rebel Moon, which is another Zack Snyder film that is (in theory?) going to be on Netflix in 2023, though I know Charlie Hunnam was just injured on set (yikes hate it not a fan) so it might end up pushed back.
Anyway, my point is this was ABSOLUTELY worth coming back and finishing it, and I'm SO glad it got to see the light of day even if it's kind of almost impossible to rewatch.
The Suicide Squad (08/05/2021)-- dir. James Gunn
Tumblr media
Okay, okay, not even going to lie, I LOVED this one, and it's what made me so excited to see James Gunn named co-executive of the DC division at WB. I know James Gunn has a very specific style and approach to writing and directing that you either love or hate, so I can understand why this one isn't going to be everyone's favorite, but I for one had a BLAST with it.
First of all, I'm so glad Rick Flag was able to get a little glow-up before his death. I actually almost didn't think he was the same character, and in a lot of ways he really isn't, but a lot of this movie pulls from the older Ostrander run comics, and I can see a lot of that Rick in this Rick.
I also LOVE all the new characters and think they really demonstrate the power of a great ensemble movie. There's someone for everyone to root for and the healthy mix of newer faces and established names makes for a great cast.
Also I think the fact that this movie is SO strong in its writing is what makes Peacemaker work, but I'll talk more about him specifically in a minute. But like Wonder Woman (weirdly), there's an earnestness and heart at the core of the movie that makes the irreverence and more ridiculous elements work-- it has a larger-than-life conflict and villain and sense of style, but at its core it is really about people just trying to not die, both in the middle of battle and in a world that has REALLY shown them no sympathy.
Peacemaker (01/13/2022-present)-- written by James Gunn
Tumblr media
James Gunn is really the guy you get to do your show if your first instinct about the main character is "who the fuck wants a show about THAT guy?"
I came into this show really, really, REALLY not sold on the concept, and then in the last episode, I was in TEARS by the end. I think that this show was, in the end, not just a fun little quarantine project James Gunn put together, but it really does provide a commentary and study on how to empathize with people who are NOT like you and who you DO NOT like, especially when they're willing to open that door to understanding and compassion.
Like, everybody on this team is a little bit of an asshole, yes even Leota, and that's why it WORKS. For a very silly show with a very silly premise and a REFUSAL to take itself too seriously, it does feel very grounded and realistic and like you could get a drink with just about everyone it sets you up to root for. We KNOW the Eleventh Street Kids. We ARE, to some degree, the Eleventh Street Kids. It's very cliche but it's also very true.
The core of this show, like many other James Gunn projects of late, is really about empathy over apathy, and that's what I think struck a chord with me. If you haven't given it a shot yet, I really strongly suggest you do.
Black Adam (10/21/2022)-- dir. Jaume Collet-Sera
Tumblr media
Oh, FUCK yeah.
This movie reminded me of Aquaman in a lot of ways, in that there's a lot of deeper themes about colonization and the idea of hero idolatry that you CAN read for the film if you want, but it's also a great movie to just turn your brain off to and watch Mr. The Rock fly around and punch people.
Much like Birds of Prey, I don't know if I'd QUITE call this a Black Adam movie because they do a LOT of make him more front-end heroic-- in wrestling terms, the JSA is largely there to play jobber for Adam until things start heating up with Intergang and Sabbac for the main event-- but it is certainly a fun one.
And I do ADORE the JSA in this movie. Pierce Brosnan is a great Kent Nelson, Aldis Hodge is my FAVORITE Hawkman I've ever seen so far (sorry Falk Hentschel I'm sorry I'm so sorry sir but your writing was CW-standard), and I wanted to see a LOT more out of Cyclone. Atom Smasher was there too I guess idk for some reason he didn't really stick out for me but he was a good kid.
Also ADRIANNA TOMAZ IS THE STRONGEST BITCH IN THIS HOUSE. I felt kind of bad watching the movie because I miss Legends so much that I kept calling her Zari in my head, but in her closer-to-source form, she's FABULOUS. I want to be her when I grow up. She is 100% the real star of this movie and Sarah Shahi did an EXCELLENT job.
I think, now that I'm writing this in a post-Henry Cavill Again Superman world, the post-credits scene is unintentionally really really funny, but in the end, I had a good time with it and I'll look back on it fondly.
Conclusion, Literally
There are exactly four movies left to be released in the DCEU: Shazam 2, Blue Beetle, The Flash, and Aquaman 2.
After that, we really don't know what we're going to get. At least until James Gunn makes his early-next-year announcement (I know I will be waiting on the edge of my seat to find out if I am still getting my Black Canary movie).
When I went to finish this post, I added on Tomorrow Is Not Coming I Guess to the main title, but I also said that didn't really capture how I felt about the future of DC films. I don't really see this as the DCEU dying-- frankly, it never really got off the ground to begin with. After Josstice League flopped, the focus was way more on strong solo films than trying to build a connected universe, which I think actually made it stronger.
At the end of the day, this is the chance to put the characters and storytelling at the forefront, and that's why I have so much faith in the Gunn-Safran team for whatever is coming next. Safran has produced some really strong, character- heavy movies with James Wan and WB. James Gunn is a strong writer with a good head on his shoulders for how to best balance creative freedom for directors with not letting their voice overpower every part of the process.
For whatever comes next to work, it HAS to be a collaborative effort on all parts with no one voice overpowering the other. Tomorrow IS still coming. I have no idea what it will look like. But I know that when it comes, I will rise to meet it, and so will whoever is involved in what comes next.
Also James Gunn, if you're reading this, I will write and direct Booster Gold myself. This is not a joke. I am dead serious. I will do it. I have thoughts already and my DMs are open.
Anyway, share your thoughts freely. You know, without being an ass.

Merry Christmas @space-romeo !
From: @sillydragpoes
Shion tugged Nezumi towards him as he continued up the light lines streets. His laugh reminded Nezumi of bells. The lights that lined the streets colored Shion in a soft rainbow. Nezumi felt his breath catch in his throat at the sight. He tried to center himself in the moment, and burn it into his mind forever.
"Shion, we walk home this way everyday." Nezumi squeezed his hand tight.
Shion looked over at Nezumi and smiled, “I know, but it’s Christmas.”
Nezumi felt his brow furrow, before shaking it off and focusing on Shion’s hand in his, slowing to a stop when Shion paused to look at the lights in a shop window.
“It’s our first Christmas together.” Shion’s voice was light, Nezumi looked at him in the reflection of the window.
Nezumi felt strange thinking about it, it felt right spending time with Shion. Coming home to him every day was a gift in its own way, but thinking of getting to do this every day, spending holidays and birthdays together for the rest of their lives was nearly overwhelming.
“You don't have to think too hard about this Nezumi,” Shion tugged at Nezumi’s hand to continue their walk. “It’s something we can figure out at our own pace. I just want us to enjoy what's happening now, and not worry about our future.”
Nezumi let himself be tugged along, “It’s strange to be scolded by you.”
Shion laughed again, shooting Nezumi a look. “I feel like you're making fun of me, but its not going to work.”
“I'd never make fun of you, Your Highness.” Nezumi smiled coyly at Shion. He lifted Shions hand and placed a quick kiss on the top of his hand.
*
“Nezumi, are there any holiday traditions in the theater?” Shion collected the empty plates from their dinner and walked them into the kitchen
Nezumi followed Shion, reaching into a kitchen drawer and pulling out a rag, joining Shion at the sink.
“I don't know about all theaters, but we always do a few free shows,” He grabbed the plate offered to him, drying it and setting it on the counter. “This year we talked about doing a Christmas Carol, but some of the troupe will be gone so we don’t have enough hands to pull it off.”
Shion laughed, handing Nezumi another clean plate, “ You don’t sound too upset about that.”
Nezumi huffed and set the plate down with the other one, the clean dish pile forming steadily. “I wanted to do the Nutcracker, but I was reminded that we were a theater troupe and not a ballet company.”
“Do you dislike A Christmas Carol?” Shion paused and looked over at Nezumi, catching his ruffled expression.
Nezumi pointedly ignored Shions gaze and continued drying the dishes. “I don't feel one way or another about Dickens.”
Shion laughed, taking the rag from Nezumi’s hand “That's a total non answer.”
“I don't know what youre talking about, having no opinion is an answer.” Nezumi made an attempt to grab the rag back, sighing when Nezumi skipped out of his reach.
“I think it's a cop out.” Shion smiled at Nezumi, flipping the rag up onto his shoulder to keep it out of Nezumi's grasp .”
Nezumi held back a groan, he stepped towards Shion and crossed his arms in front of his chest, “Fine you’re right it is a cop out.”
“So why don't you like Dickens?”
“I don't really have a reason, It's just gotten boring to do every year.” Nezumi sighed and rubbed his temple, reaching towards Shion to grab the rag back.
Shion took a step back, taking the rag with him. “That makes sense, who do you play?”
“Usually Isabelle, sometimes one of the Ghosts. I was Ebaneezer once, and that is for the best.”
Nezumi stretched his open hand towards Shion, “is that an answer good enough to get my rag back?”
Shion nodded and offered the rag to Nezumi, who grabbed the other end, tugging hard, pulling Nezumi towards him. He wrapped his arms around Nezumi's waist and smiled up at the taller man.
“I feel like you have some sort of devious plan coming to fruition.” Nezumi glanced around, feeling Shion’s arms tighten around his waist.
Shion laughed and nodded “It's not devious but I did want to get you out of the kitchen.
“That much was obvious, Your Highness, but what for?”
Shion glanced upwards, the mistletoe he had hung earlier stood out starkly against the white door frame.
Shion placed a hand on Nezumi’s cheek, “Can I?”
Nezumi nodded and pulled Shion's face towards his so he could kiss his forehead, “You don't have to trick me into kissing you, you know?”
“I was trying to be romantic.” Shion gave Nezumi a quick peck on the lips before smiling. “Did it work?”
Nezumi leaned down and grabbed Shions chin in his hand, his lips catching Shions in a more intimate kiss.
Nezumi pulled back, smiling at Shion. “I'd say it was a huge success.”

Bellamy and Desiree walked through the front door to the Manor and Mikey held open his arms. Desiree was feeling under the weather. He was grateful his little sister had gone to stay with her today and take care of her. She looked tired, but she was still the most beautiful woman he’d ever seen, even with the mask covering half her face. When she stepped into his arms, he promptly pulled down so he could press his lips to hers, much to her horror. He gave her a look.
“I don’t care if you’re sick, you’re not going to stop me from kissing you,” Mikey told her firmly. He kissed her again to further prove his point. Mikey pulled her close to him, tucking her against his side. “How are you feeling?” His words were much softer as he scanned his eyes over her. She was already wearing the gifts from her Valentine’s boxes labeled with the number ‘3’.
Today’s gifts had been a pair of pink silk pajamas with a matching pink lace set to go under it. There was a matching robe with a monogram embroidered on the pocket: 'DS'. He grinned like the devil when she pointed to it and raised an eyebrow.
"Just planning ahead for our future," he teased, kissing her on the forehead.
Mikey had always planned on today's date being a relaxing movie night at home. He hadn't planned on the love of his life being sick, but he was glad it would be a relatively relaxing evening on her. He just had recently decided to include his sister as well since Desiree expressed a desire for them all to watch Harry Potter together. Bellamy walked up the stairs to her room to give the couple some privacy until their movie night started.
Mikey walked to the theater room, Desiree following his lead and staying close to his side. He could tell his girlfriend wasn't feeling well and he wished he could've been the one taking care of her this morning, but he was working on this surprise. He opened the door and smiled when her own lips upturned in a grin.
The room had been decorated with paper envelopes around the room, keys with wings hanging from the ceiling, a large mirror that he had been informed was the actual "Mirror of Erised" prop from one of the films, and other assorted Harry Potter themed items. A table of themed snacks sat in a corner of the room. When he'd texted his assistant that he wanted everything to be Harry Potter themed, his assistant had started rambling about this being the greatest assignment of his life and he'd really outdone himself.
"What do you think?" Mikey asked Des as she walked around.
She turned to him and smile, holding out her arms for him to step closer. He did so, wrapping his arms around her. "I think you're spoiling me too much this week." She kissed his cheek and he reciprocated this with a kiss to her lips.
"I think I don't spoil you enough," he retorted. "I think if I could rip a star from the sky itself, it still wouldn't be enough for me to spoil you with." He brought her hand to his lips and pressed his lips to the back of her hand, looking at her from under his lashes. "I'd give you the world and it still wouldn't be enough in my eyes." Desiree's eyes softened as she looked at him. Just then, they were interrupted.
Mitsuya came in the room in a pair of striped green pajama pants with a serpent embroidered up one leg and a black t-shirt bearing the Slytherin emblem on a pocket. He was carrying Bellamy on his back and she was in a matching pair of pants, though hers were navy stripes with delicately embroidered bronze eagles down one leg. Her shirt was a pastel blue bearing the Ravenclaw emblem on the pocket. The grin on his sister's face as she had her arms wrapped around Takashi's soulders was contagious and Des was smiling just as big as his sister.
"Des, look!" Bellamy all but shouted. Takashi laughed. "He made us matching pajamas for our houses! Aren't they so cute?" Mikey had to admit that was good. He didn't often like acknowledging that one of his best friends was dating his little sister, but this was one of those rare times where Mikey was glad for it. He knew she'd be treated right and taken care of with Takashi. Mikey trusted him with her. She was happy for once. Mikey's grin faltered slightly as he thought, 'if only Takashi could keep his mouth closed about what they do behind closed doors'.
He watched as his girlfriend gushed over the outfit with his sister and Mitsuya with a smile. Finally, having enough of his love paying more attention to Bellamy and Mitsuya than himself, Mikey scooped up Desiree in his arms, carrying her bridal style across the room and to the large pit couch that awaited them. They were in one of the smaller theater rooms that only had a large couch full of pillows and blankets as opposed to the theater seating. He set Desiree down gently on the edge of the couch and allowed her to scoot back. He then crawled onto the couch beside Desiree and pulled her into his lap. She leaned back against him and let out a happy sigh as he pulled the blanket up around her. He kissed her forehead, making sure she wasn't feverish, before finally relaxing.
Bellamy and Mitsuya joined them a moment later after he flipped her over his shoulder and onto her back on the couch. Bellamy screeched before giggling as she lay there with the wind slightly knocked out of her, Mitsuya pressing a quick kiss to her lips. She quickly scrambled to the back of the couch, opening her arms and legs to allow him to lay on her. His head rested on her lower stomach with each of her legs over his shoulders. Her hands immediately went to his hair, playing with it and scratching his scalp as the movie started. They were both just as relaxed as Desiree and Mikey.
The movie marathon started without a hitch, Mikey even getting into the story by the end of the first movie. Throughout the first film, he got occasional teases that he was like Draco. The second movie was his favorite and Mikey found himself questioning if it would be possible, with enough money, to have a basilisk genetically engineered for him to keep as a pet. Bellamy voted yes but Desiree voted no. By the end of the third movie, they had finished all the snacks, Mikey was hooked, and the other three in the room had started dozing off.
Mikey smiled lovingly at Desiree. She was was asleep on his chest, her body laying face down against his and her legs draped over his thighs. Soft snores came from her lips and it was the cutest sound he'd ever seen. He'd behaved tonight...mostly. He had given Desiree exactly three orgasms on his fingers throughout the night, claiming softly in her ear that orgasms cured colds. She merely laughed at his antics but indulged him in it. Mikey, however, didn't want to think about what that other two had done during the films. Once they switched positions, with Takashi laying back and Bellamy sitting atop his lap with a blanket over them, Mikey realized it was better not to ask or think too hard about what went on under the blanket.
The credits rolled on the fourth movie and Mikey knew it was time to put his girl to bed for the night. Desiree was asleep, Bellamy looked to be falling asleep, and he was certain he heard Takashi snoring a few times. He stood, scooping Desiree back up in his arms, and looked to the other couple.
"Thank you guys for joining us," Mikey told them sincerely. Bellamy gave him a sleepy grin as she melted further into the arms of Takashi. She tried not to let it show that his cock was buried inside her, as it had been for several hours; she also tried not to show that he was flexing it inside her as her brother stood there talking to them.
"Thanks for inviting us Mikey," Bellamy told him sweetly as she looked at Des, asleep in his arms. "Now please get my future sister in law to bed."
Mikey nodded. "One more thing: you'll need to be up at 8AM. The jet leaves at 9AM."
Bellamy looked confused but nodded. Takashi actually answered, "I'll make sure she's up. Thanks little Mike."
"Bite me Takashi," Mikey retorted as he left the room.
Mikey got Desiree to bed and he laid her in the middle and curled his body around her, holding her nice and tight to his chest. Tomorrow would be a fun day as he flew them all to Osaka to go to Universal Studios Japan, where they had a VIP tour waiting for them and would spend the day primarily in the parks Harry Potter area.

LETTERS I'LL NEVER SEND #1 : To my first love.
Remember that time we sat on the hills behind my neighborhood and watched the sun set? How the walk back was only a couple of blocks, but it was cold and you wrapped your own sweater around me?
Yea… me either…
Remember the night we sat in your truck, in an empty parking lot, you put on some music and we talked about our future and what that might look like? Or how I started crying thinking that I could have such a future? You pulled me in and told me it would happen, that I deserved it and that you needed to get me home before curfew so my dad wouldn't hate you?
Yea… me either…
Remember the night of our anniversary, you came to my house all dressed up? You showed up at my door with the most beautiful flowers and said you had so many things planned, but that they were all a suprise. You opened my door for me, we went to dinner, and when the sun went down you pulled out some blankets so we could lay on the ground and look at the stars. It was cold then too, but we kept warm by joking about how your mom would kill you if she knew you got her blankets dirty.
Yea… me either…
Remember how you lost your favorite knife in a movie theater? It slipped out of your pocket while we were movie hopping, and was gone forever. I spent months saving up to get you a new one, and you were so happy when you opened it. Little do you know, my heart was also in that box. At the time, I'd never been happier, and I didn't think life could feel this way for me, but you made it happen, and I was so grateful.
Yea… me either…
Remember how we went to your house for the first time, and you offered me a shot of vodka? I pulled myself up onto your counter, and when you counted down from three we did it together. The look in your eyes made me laugh when you saw how quickly I drank it, and I think that's when you fell in love.
Yea… me either…
Remember dancing in the kitchen when nobody else was home? We would always find a new recipe to make and turn on some music. You taught me how to cook, and how to dance. You'd sing to me while we danced, my face would turn red and I'd hide in your chest and sway.
Yea… me either…
Remember when we practically lived together? Your dad would yell at us for being too loud, but you couldn't help but keep cracking jokes just to hear me laugh, he'd pound on the wall and we'd stifle our laughs, but it was hard. Life was amazing.
Yea… me either…
Remember when you left for Basic training? And we both cried? I told you I'd wait for you, and I wrote you every day. I went to visit your mom often, to help her with chores and to help her stay happy. We talked about a lot, and she'd dress me up and take photos of me to send to you. I really loved your mom.
Yea… me either…
Remember when you got home… and you started drinking more? Suddenly you cared all too much about what your friends thought, and I was just there for the ride. Remember how they all looked at me like there was something I didn't know, some had deviousness behind their eyes while others had genuine concern. I didn't know what was going on, but I felt in my soul that something wasn't right.
I remember it all too well…
Remember the night you came to my house, but wouldn't come inside. It was freezing and dark but you had to tell me something important. You told me that you didn't love me anymore, and we both cried. We both knew it was a lie and that there was more to it. You held onto me with more urgency that night, you kissed me more passionately, and I finally got you to admit that you had cheated on me. You were drunk, I forgave you. After a few weeks we got back together, and I still loved you so much, I was hurt but willing to give you another chance, you were everything to me.
I remember it all too well…
Remember we did good for a bit, and then you suddenly began to change. Drinking was more your thing than loving now. You'd go to parties and leave me behind. I knew you were still cheating, and you were even open about it, but I figured it would pass and we could work through it so I continued to give you chances. You became cold to me, but not really. It was very forced, and I could tell that you didn't mean the things you said, but you were scared. To this day, I don't know why. You didn't want to hurt me, but in your mind, you had to.
I remember it all too well…
Remember when you finally put hands on me… Once again there was alcohol involved and I knew it wasn't like you, but I knew nothing would be the same after this. I remember feeling more alone than I ever had, but I had lost you, and you were all I had. I felt betrayed and scared. All of the good memories outnumber the bad ones, but the bad feelings outweighed the good eventually.
I remember it all too well…
Remember the night before I left for basic training? I sent you a message I hoped would make you think. I called you an alcoholic, and I wasn't wrong. I told you that you were unlovable, because I truly believe you thought that you were, I wanted you to hurt in the same way you hurt me, and the moment I hit send, I figured that you wouldn't care. I thought you'd blow it off if you really didn't love me. Those words broke your heart. You never got over it, and from the things you'd message me later on I knew you heard those words in your head every day. I felt really bad for awhile, I still loved you so much, but I was hoping I would be your wakeup call so that you could be happy one day.
I remember it all too well…
It's been 8 years now, and you still check in on me. Don't think that I don't notice. All I've ever done is notice. I know you regret deeply the choices you made that led to this loss. I know you've been with other women and it breaks you down because none of them loved the way I did. I know you understand the mistake you made, in losing someone who really would've done anything for you. After all, 7 years is all it takes to be a new person. The person I am now, you've never touched. The person I am now, is even better than the person I was then. You want to know what it's like to know me again, and to know the love you never received anywhere else. If you could take it all back in an instant I know you would, but there are still things about you, that you haven't changed. You still drink, you still lie, and you still hate yourself, even though you shouldn't.
If you do remember anything, remember this.
Everything around you, is up to you. Don't let the people around you decide who you are. If you're around people doing bad things, that doesn't make you a bad person, but if you do those same things in hopes that they'll accept you, it doesn't make you a good person. The world is your oyster, nothing is permanent, even the bad things. You are in control of where your life goes, and who you keep in it, and apologizing doesn't make you weak. You are not your father, but only you can keep yourself from turning into him. It's not too late. I'm sorry I hurt you. I hope you're able to move on, and achieve everything you've ever wanted.

Post #85: NM Annual issue 2 and UXM Annual issue 10
A few years before this issue, Claremont created Captain Britain, who’s twin sister, Betsy Braddock, is a mutant codenamed Psylocke. She has telepathy, and she helped out on some British adventures and at one point took over as Captain Britain, but in the process she lost her eyes. With this annual, she crosses over the the X-franchise, and so does Mojo, who kidnap her, give her robot eyes, and start doing evil schemes. He enslaves her soul and makes her the star of a TV show called Wildways, which uses vague subliminal psychic stuff to enslave several children who watch it- Berto, Rahne,  Xuân’s siblings, and some of the kids Longshot befriended in his miniseries. Mojo and Spiral’s weird powers combined with Betsy’s turn them all into adults who do Mojo’s bidding. He replaces Berto and Rahne with robots, but the New Mutants find out and track down their friends. They’re all defeated except Doug and Warlock, who escape, and Amara, who’s able to resist the enslavement and is turned into a child as punishment. Doug and Warlock find Captain Britain, Brian Braddock, who came looking for his sister and got turned into a little kid too. To save their friends, Warlock combines himself with Doug to become Douglock. Their plan is to sneak up on Betsy and use Doug’s computer skills and Warlock’s powers to mess up her weird soul slave technology, but it turns out she’s been possessed by SPiral, who sucks everybody into Betsy’s mind. The jokes on her, though, because Warlock’s fancy eyes and Doug’s language powers allow them to easily navigate and manipulate the mindscape, freeing Betsy, who zaps Spiral away and puts everybody back in their bodies. Betsy decides to come to Xavier’s to learn more about her psy-powers, but she still has a secret- her robot eyes. This was a mixed bag. The good- it was great to have a Doug centric issue. Him combining with Warlock and them rubbing off on each other’s brains was very interesting and will become an important part of their future arcs. Weirdly, just like the first annual, it was Doug’s powers that saved the day. The bad- this story made absolutely no sense. The villains’ motives, Betsy’s powers, all the kids that showed up and didn’t really do anything, it was all nonsense. Parts of the Longshot mini were also really confusing, but that’s what Ann Nocenti was going for, and it worked. Claremont uses a lot of words, which I usually enjoy, but in this case those words were saying nothing and contradicting each other.
This X-Men annual is very hard to place in continuity. The best spot is to put it here, and just pretend Rachel is busy during this story and Longshot is busy during the next few X-Men stories. Plus, it’s a follow-up to the New Mutants annual, which kinda has to be placed here. Anyway, it’s another Mojo story. Mojo has been using cameras in Betsy’s eyes to film X-Men training sessions, which are very popular as a TV show in his dimension. He decides to bring the X-Men here, by zapping Longshot into the Danger Room covered in goo that makes the X-Men start to regress in age. Mojo then lures the X-Babies to a theater in New York, where he restores them to adults and turns them evil. The New Mutants come to the rescue, wearing the costumes that had been set aside for them when they graduate. Unfortunately, these costumes are mostly not good. Anyway, there’s a big battle, and the New Mutants manage to snap their mentors out of the evil spell, and then Kitty phases through Mojo which disrupts his powers. He teleports away, and the X-Men grab Spiral and force her to undo all the spells she did. Mojo, back in his home dimension, is very excited about the ratings he got on this program, and he starts making more evil plans. This annual was also not great. It introduced Longshot to the team, but he did literally nothing. Some of the X-Babies stuff was funny, but it took up way too much time.
From here on out pretty much every Mojo story is about him orchestrating situations to film for his home dimension, which means there’ll never really be another story like the Longshot mini. I’m glad Betsy and Longshot joined the cast, at least. Claremont is just not the right writer for Mojo, a character who gets less effective the more you talk about him. On to better things now.
