Begging people who read fanfics to leave comments. Especially in the small communities like ours. Fanfics don't have the same support that art does, where it can be reblogged and commented and shared. The only validation we get is from comments, more so than kudos honestly. Because then we feel the engagement, and it feels worth it.

Lots of love and effort goes into writing. So even just a "Loved it!" Or "Can't wait for the next chapter!" changes everything for us. And sure, you can tell the artist directly, we love it when you do. But comments on our works are like scrapbooks. I go back to comments I love to read them over again to get that warm and fuzzy feeling. A hit of dopamine to keep me writing.

Do writers a solid. Tell them you liked it. And thank you to everyone who does. Yes, write for yourselves, but no one is immune to validation, and so we do it for you! Especially in communities like this, where there aren't many stories to go around to keep the fixation fed.

Sometimes forget not everyone seeks out random facts, the other day my roommate commented that I have the weirdest set of unrelated facts when I said something about Lithuanian. I had to step back and think, oh, right she doesn't know that I used to watch hannibal religiously and have an interest in languages since who knows when. To me they're all related somehow in major clusters but to others I sound like some weird nerd who knows random facts and blurts them out randomly. Just been thinking about that. It's not like I find it devastatingly tragic that most people live their lives devoid of the little pleasure that is being able to spew out fun little facts about bugs and languages and characters and all sorts of things.

#just shouting into the void #bc I just find it so weird that more people don't find the little things interesting enough to remember them most time #here's a fun little fact lady bugs are named that after the 'lady' aka my girl mary jesus's mom herself #the lady bug seem to have a weirdly religious connotation in a lot of languages #it's called “god's brooch/button” in our language #and the larvae look quite different from the ladybug we see often #I saw one in my dream last night and it was a cool transparent one with golden insides!

Something about the framing of “The big guy doesn’t deserve pleasure” though. I know it’s surrounded by jokes about the red light district, but like. It’s not that he can’t afford the distraction, or that things are being rationed due to a state of emergency or something to that effect. It’s very specifically phrased as being something he doesn’t deserve, and that’s kinda heartbreaking.

Maternal unit seems to be in a bad mood today and just overheard her complaining snippily how it's so hard to clean and meal prep when everyone is home and I'm just like... I literally rarely leave my room. I am quite literally never underfoot ever. In fact I make it a point to stay out of the way as much as possible. Pretty sure she's just hangry but like ouch mom thanks? Now I feel like shit and I didnt even do anything.
