Thus the only really reliable w #way isto just hone your senses over like 500 years as you become an expert mage - OR use enchantments like these. But a 'sense magic' encha #ntment is not as common as a just 'magic is not allowed here' enchantment. like listen. Many people say to me "Ruth you are so femme you are so girly you love to wear skirts whereas I, because I am a Practical Person Who Cares Not How I Look, love to wear trousers and shorts"

and yes I have my femme moments indeed. I am periodically quite femme, very aesthetically led, yes I am vain and guided by the whims of style, yes, thank you for noticing. but also. a good skirt (and bike shorts/leggings/stockings as needed) is literally superior in every respect to trousers or leggings

doesn't dig in when you sit down. doesn't change shape at the waist. easy to fit. sits where your waist is not where somebody arbitrarily decided your waist should be (halfway down your hips)

in a skirt and leggings you have 100% the range of motion you would have naked. high kick all you want. scramble over a fence no bother. in jeans it is often a struggle to get my foot up far enough to tie my shoes and I'm not even wearing skinnies.

crotch freedom. unexpected period? you have bought yourself time before it shows. have a dick? not obviously! prone to irritation? YOU ARE FREE.

pockets. if trousers sit tight on your hips (and most of them do) everything falls out of your pockets immediately when you move your legs. you have to take them down to sit on the loo and again everything falls out. put on a nice loose skirt with big inseam pockets. everything you put in your pockets is staying there. the only limit on depth of pocket is length of skirt.

also if you buy a skirt and it DOESN'T have pockets it is almost universally WAY easier to add sturdy in-seam pockets to skirts than trousers

almost unlimited options vis a vis fabric, cut and weight. you can make skirts out of anything

piss easy to make. some skirts are literally just a sheet of fabric. some are two rectangles and a waistband.

oh but what if people see my knickers? THEY WON'T FOOL THIS IS WHY YOU ARE WEARING LEGGINGS AND/OR BIKE SHORTS. that and because of thigh rub. and for warmth.

all the advantages of leggings but you have pockets and a stylish silhouette. and your butt is covered if that is of concern to you.

I cannot overstate how much more comfortable and freemoving a good skirt is than a similarly decent pair of trousers. oh trousers are more practical for Masculine Practicalities than skirts are they? COME OVER HERE AND SAY IT TO THE SCOTS. INDIANS. MAYA. GREEKS. GHANAIANS. JAVANESE.

genuinely wonder how many more people would give gashu the hiyori treatment if only he were a bit more conventionally attractive. you know?

#like don't get me wrong. sou is a sympathetic character and hiyori brings an interesting parallel to kai #but there is always some level of 'they didn't do anything wrong' in a specific type of fans' mindsets #the most egregious example would be people's treatment of kutaro versus sou after chapter two #kutaro is nowhere near as awful or manipulative as sou or hiyori or [gashu] (in this scenario) - but he was treated with as much distaste #despite having taken very reasonable actions for his character. especially after the ch3 expansion of his character #he was someone who worked desperately to make a name for himself out of nothing. and he was scared of not only losing that #but of being the a catalyst of hopelessness for the other children at the orphanage in his failure/disappearance #he was harsh in ch1's first main game - but he was using this opportunity to tell these three that it's up to them #to prove that they're worth enough to the group. he didn't want anyone to die necessarily - he used this opportunity to spur them on #you have to remember he was raised in an environment of asunaro's orphanage where ''mandatory education'' was considered generosity. #this wasn't the best method of doing so. but it was the one someone with a personality like kutaro's would go for #it makes sense for his character. as does the fact that gin warms up to him afterward throughout the events of ch2 #and yet people still - for the longest time. and even now! - treat him as if he's worse than sou or hiyori. and it ruins me #like...so much of it is solely based on appearance rather than their actual role in the story #it's the same sort of bitter hand that fictional women are often dealt but i'm...not getting into that now. too much ranting for today! #i mean you could shoot me an ask if you'd want to hear but it's just. stuff you're bound to see if you've been in fan spaces long enough #jestersvaguely #yttdposting
