I think it’s funny how, before I knew about Edgeworth’s note, I would see art on Tumblr that I felt like was trying to convince me that Miles was dead. I knew he wasn’t. I knew he didn’t die because I had seen Edgeworth’s Chief Prosecutor sprite on his wiki page. However, I started feeling like Tumblr was trying to gaslight me into believing he was dead because there would be art of Phoenix or Franziska just crying over Miles being gone, and y’know what? Good on Tumblr for giving me a bit of the Phoenix Wright Experience (TM) in believing this man wasn’t alive anymore.

I wish we knew more about how bsd characters figured out they have abilities. The fact that transferring an ability is confirmed to be rare implies that most characters just randomly figured out their abilities. Like did Kunikida one day write in his planner “I need to buy new glasses” and suddenly glasses spawned in his hand? Did Tanizaki play tag on the playground and just matrix-ed into thin air? Did Fyodor just randomly touch another person and see them drop dead in a pool of blood in front of him?

Been answering a lot of questions lately but haven't been asked one that let me bring up this one specific point I love talking about yet. So this is the post for that.

Well, I'm talking about Kaito and Saguru’s names- but not those ones. No, I’m talking about their family names, Kuroba and Hakuba.

Starting with the kanji. Kuroba reads as 'black feathers', and Hakuba reads as 'white horse'. So even just at the base level they're both asigned a colour and an animal (or in Kaito’s case just the features of one.)

Now of course black and white are often used to symbolize things being opposites. It's a sharp contrast. A clear symbol of them being on different sides.

As for the animals, there are a few things that could be read into that, horses and birds are both used to symbolize a pretty wide variety of things, so there’s a pretty wide range of ways they can be taken even with the colours being specified. But the only one thats really notable for what I want to say here is that a birds wings often represent freedom (and im disregarding the color here because Kaito is associated with both black and white birds).

Anyway, the part i do want to talk about, is the fact that 'Kuroba' can be read as a Japanized 'Clover', which of course paired with the black colour harkens to the clubs suit of playing cards. And in with that in mind Hakuba's 'white horse' can instead be taken as a chess knight.

The two are playing a game together, the game or cat and mouse, cops and robbers- the thief and the detective. But they aren't playing by the same rules, they aren't focused on the same things... they aren't playing the same game, not really.

And both of them know that. Because Kaito knows what his real goal is, and Saguru knows that the police aren't the biggest threat that Kid is facing.

Kaito’s game is a game of bluffs. One where the stakes are high, and he keeps raising them higher by drawing that attention to himself with the intent to force his opponents the people that killed his father to make a mistake. If his poker face cracks, if he slips up he will actually die, and if he doesn’t he could land himself in jail with his freedom stripped from him. Kaito’s game is dangerous.

Saguru's game is a game of calculation. One where moves are carefully crafted and information is carefully controlled to try to reach a desired result... but the game is stretching on longer than he's ever played before, and he's changed his mind about what that 'desired result' even is. But he does know that if he keeps playing his game with the same intentions that he had when he started then he's liable to lose a friend.

But Saguru can't just switch games either, even if he's been able to recognize that Kaito's playing a game with cards, he doesn't actually know what game Kaito's playing.... is it poker? Old maid? Spades? Blackjack? And even if he knew, how is he supposed to play cards if all he has is chess pieces, Kaito's keeping as many of the cards as he can close to his chest... ..... yeah okay so that metaphor started to get messy near the end.

as much as a i understand and respect ace kiryu truthers, i really feel like kiryu is the type to really take the idea to heart that sex is something vulnerable and meaningful and thus reserved for someone completely trusted and special to him– someone who feels right. after years and years he’s still never legitimately voluntarily slept with someone, always tries to turn women away or is at least apathetic when they try to get physical with him, never feels that deep and specific bond with a woman– nothing compared to some of his bonds with other men throughout his life. and maybe, hopefully, one day it’ll hit him that there’s a pretty big, glaring reason why no women have ever felt “right” to him.

((Tonight on: I dissect a single line of a character's dialogue bc I'm oh so very normal about my love for them—

In the fateful scene where Kaeya and Dainsleif finally meet face-to-face, Dain casually reveals that Kaeya's family, the Alberich's, founded the Abyss Order. When Paimon asks Kaeya if he's involved with the Abyss Order in any way, Kaeya's response is simply:

"So what if I know my ancestry? Do I strike you as the type who would be bound by that kind of thing?"

Not bothering to confirm or deny it. Merely suggesting that the idea of him being bound by "ancestry"—by family—is absurd.

Of course, it's understandable for Paimon and the Traveler to immediately have that concern when they learn about Kaeya's family. But the irony here is that they've got it backwards:

Family doesn't bind Kaeya to Khaenri'ah.

It's what would have bound Kaeya to Mondstadt.

He hasn't seen his birth father in twenty years. At this point, they're family in name only. Crepus Ragnvindr was the one who raised him and cared for him, unlike his biological father who abandoned him in a place that would hate and reject him if the truth ever came out.

Whether he was a legitimate part of the Ragnvindr family or not, they were the only ancestry that earned Kaeya's love—and thus, could bind his loyalty.

This line of dialogue was likely the only thing Kaeya said in that entire conversation that wasn't a lie. The catastrophic falling out between Kaeya and Diluc quite literally burned that bridge of loyalty long ago. Between his biological father's abandonment and Diluc's apparent hatred, both sides of his lineage have forsaken him.

So, no: Kaeya isn't loyal to Khaenri'ah out of familial obligation. He's learned better than to place his trust in people (no matter how much he foolishly cares for them).

He's loyal to a nation that still suffers punishment for one single mistake, and to its citizens who have been cast off, abandoned, and twisted into monsters—just like him.))

We should bring back that thing some websites used to do where whenever you made a post you could also list a bunch of random details alongside it, like the mood you’re currently feeling while writing the post, what you’re eating, music you’re currently listening to, what device you’re writing the post on, some random emoji, your personal motto at the moment, etc. It’s like additional character lore

Had an absolute vision of a dream last night that one of the episodes of series 5 starts with Alison about to drive somewhere, and for whatever reason, the Captain was sitting in the passenger seat. They got outside the gates and the captain didn't disappear. This causes them both to freak out, and the Captain freaks out so hard that his soul or whatever regresses and warps time for a second, and Alison has to slam on the brakes so they don't crash. When she looks over at the Captain to check if he's okay, there's a little girl in the seat.

Turns out the Captain is trans and he could leave the grounds bc for some reason he was connected to a locket in his pocket which was a gift from his mother that had his deadname inscribed on it (I don't remember what it was; maybe Elizabeth?). The picture on the inside was one of those typical victorian family portrait photos from when he was little.

The episode then becomes about Alison finding out more about the Captain's life and them finding members of his family's graves and people who are still alive, like younger siblings or nieces/nephews.

The B plot was all the ghosts freaking out that the Captain had been sucked off bc suddenly he's just not there and they don't know what to do! It was still so recently that Mary left them and now the captain too?! 😭

Anyway I know it makes no sense that he would randomly become attached to a locket that's always been in his pocket when we've seen him be unable to pass through the gate before, but this was a dream so whatever 😖 Trans Captain is now canon in my head and my heart so 💕

i'm learning russian and french at the same time and I swear to god if I accidentally find a random cyrillic letter in the middle of a word writen in latin alphabet one more time or accidentally mix languages mid sentence, I will yell

or sometimes I find that when I'm writing a translation of a word in russian that sounds similar in polish I just write the russian word again but in latin alphabet for some reason

or I can somehow remember all of my miniscule spanish when I'm trying to learn french even though I literally don't remember a word in spanish otherwise

my language module is broken at this point, if you ever find my notes and there is something like boнjour, just ignore it, I literally don't pick up on it when I'm making and rereading my notes
