Everyone that has met Crowley (and didn't get too involved with the supernatural. I'm looking at you, Maggie and Nina) sees him as sleek, and stylish, and modern, and cool, and suave (and, honestly, hot as fuck. Wouldn't be surprised if half of Soho desired him). And that's exactly the image he tries to portray to the populace in general. He's a cool guy with a cool outfit and a cool car and he doesn't have a care in the world.

This is helped by the fact that he rarely talks to anyone outside of Aziraphale. If you notice, in the show, Crowley never goes after any human to converse like Aziraphale does. He keeps quiet. Keeps to himself. Cultivating that aura of mystery. He only talks to others if the circumstances force him into it. Alas, he is (mostly) polite and charming about it, but it's not something he seeks

Even Maggie and Nina only had a peek under the curtain and saw a bit of the mess of feelings thats under Crowley's skin and that's because both Aziraphale and Crowley kept fucking around with them.

In the whole world, Aziraphale is the only one who KNOWS him. His imperfections and little detail of his soul. He's the only one who knows how actually ridiculous Crowley's laugh is. His sarcasm. His worried expression. The way he mumbles over consonants without saying shit when he gets caught off guard or nervous. The way he uses his hands a lot when he's drunk.

Sure, Aziraphale still thinks he is hella cool and suave and chill, but he also has a front seat view to how much of an dork he actually is.

It's been 6000 thousand years and Crowley let Aziraphale (99%) in. (Yes, 99% because Crowley would never let anyone see him cry. Not even Aziraphale. Almost, but not quite)

And now, Aziraphale is gone. For the first time since Eden, Crowley is absolutely alone. There's no one in the surface of the Earth that actually knows him. With whom he can relax and put down the mask for a little bit. He has no other choice but hide behind the curtain perpetually because he doesn't trust anyone else.

And if given another 6000 years without Aziraphale, I doubt he would let the mask down with anyone else like he did the angel.

He has made that mistake once, he wouldn't let himself make that mistake again. Because he is the bitten one that trusts no one.

After first two episodes I think it's kind of interesting, how everyone mirrors themselves and each other from season 1.

Stede now is a bit overly confident and resembles Ed's persona from the begging of the journey, and Ed is completely lost his way and just wants to constantly move to simply not drown. Exactly like Stede used to run from everything.

Jim are a little softer, Frenchie is somewhat more clinical, like they both switch places a bit. It's logical to expect Jim to be Ed's first choice after Izzy's dismissal, but he deliberately picked the one who's smart enough to not blow things up completely, but also not smart enough to dare to confront him and survive it (although he's probably underestimate the guy).

Again, we thought that Lucius is gonna hide in the walls of The Revenge and being helped by the crew, when in reality he's kind of saved himself, but lost some parts of himself in a process. And his narrative foil, Izzy, is going through some emotional growth and seems to moving to better self-esteem which was always Lucius's strength. And yes, he's literally loosing parts of himself in a process.

Finally all this transformations are responses to trauma or some shocking event. We started the show with quite light-heartes fantasy world where people instinctively knew better way to process emotions and communicate. They weren't exactly innocent, but rather optimistic. And now it's a "dark forest", where we see how trauma can fuck up us and everyone around by force them to also act a little out of character in order to adapt and survive.

I liked "When the King Took Flight" by Timothy Tackett, but he absolutely chickened out at even mentioning the allegations about Gilbert being in any way involved in the Champs de Mars mess. Which is extra funny, because Tackett kind of hints that Champs de Mars was "the beginning of the Terror".

What I'm saying is that we totally missed on the "Gilbert started the Terror" implication.

ok heres the thing. i know what it’s like to feel miserable because you’re forcing yourself to engage in spaces that make you feel worthless. i cannot emphasize enough how much that makes a person feel as if they’re worth less than nothing.

so when people hate stede because he left his family, i get really fucking pissed off. mind you, i grew up with one parent, i know what it’s like to be abandoned by a father figure. but jesus christ if it doesn’t boil my goddamn blood to hear that morally elitist argument that forgets that stede is human. at some point, you’re willing to do whatever it takes to just not feel like trash.

it’s the lack of understanding of that desperate state of being that it takes to do something like that that makes me angry i guess. that and i see a lot of myself in stede, so being told that his actions are self-centered and incompetent kinda fucks with me a bit yk yk.
