Tinky literally hides his face in his shirt & he’s so flustered & giddy & goes to run away but before he does he kisses Ted back on the cheek & runs away blushing & giggling

& Ted was mostly doing it to save his own ass but after THAT he is really smitten like wtf that shit was so cute?

After a talk with his bros (- Wiggly cause I don’t think he’d be too wild about Tinky falling for a mortal) he comes back & tries to act all smooth & cool but too late, Ted knows he’s a lovesick dork & he plans on using it to his advantage

Ted acts on reflex & catches him before he hits the ground. Tinky wakes up in Ted’s arms, staring up in his eyes & he’s blushing sooo much it’s unreal

The first time you help trim hooves you are instructed to stand to the side and be ready to help when called. Flutters of anticipation make your stomach feel alive. You are called on, a few times, mostly to fetch things. Sister Kindness puts you in charge of giving her patients a treat when she’s done. 

It is hard work, but someone must do it.

The second time you help trim hooves you are charged with hampering the Karakul’s movements - they tend to panic, Sister Comfort explains in her steady voice. She shows you how to brace against the wood to contain the sheep, not to hurt. You are so small, still, but it does not take much to convince sheep they are stuck. 

Sister Kindness laments the theft of her chief treatgiver. Sister Comfort grins back in a way that tells you they have kissed.

Your face reddens. 

The karakuls’ cries fill the air, clipped sounds of indignation. You imagine they are cussing. You delight in the thought of animals cussing. 

Sister Kindness puts a voice on for some of her favorites, play-acting.

Sister Comfort laughs from her belly, the sound round and full and it lifts you off your feet a little. 

You laugh, too. The third time and fourth time you get more comfortable. You still don’t do any of the trimming -- it is easy to hurt the karakul accidentally. The mother trimmed too far, once, and has yet to pick up the chore again.  But you know, now, where you are most needed. You read the ask for aid in the line of Comfort’s shoulder and arm. You help to keep the line of Karakul moving and in turn the critters nose at your pockets, your hands, your face. 

You delight in their pushy and stubborn natures. 

You watch Kindness and Comfort exchange a long, meaningful look and wonder at it. 

Comfort looks away first. 

Kindness only looks sad.

When you write fanfic, you quite often get a bit of feedback along the lines of - "I liked it but I thought this part was a bit unbelievable because of X, Y, Z."

And that's fine. Often with me, it's because nobody edits my work so if it's a long fic, I'll sometimes forget that I've told the reader one thing only to contradict it in a later chapter. It happens.

But my favourite example of this sort of feedback is when someone said about JWTDO something like - "I enjoyed it but I think it's far-fetched that Remus would be able to afford his own house in London on a vet's salary when he has a chronic illness."

Firstly, it's set in Bristol. Bristol is not cheap but it isn't London expensive. Not everywhere in the UK is London.

Secondly, healthcare is free here. Having a chronic illness does not impact your ability to buy a house (unless, of course, it impacts your ability to work). I have a chronic condition and because of that, I get all my medication free. I don't have to pay a penny even though I'm a bit of a burden to the state.

I pass no judgement on other healthcare systems, but it's super important to me that those of you who have to fork out a fuckload of money just because you're unlucky enough to be unwell understand that... that's not right.
