Fox News just can’t understand why so many people find MAGA semi-fascism repulsive and un-American.
It’s not just that Democrats had an anti-MAGA message; it wouldn’t have worked if it didn’t genuinely resonate with the American people.

Lara Logan, formerly a CBS News reporter and more recently a frequent Fox News guest, went so off-field on former Fox News host Eric Bolling's Newsmax show Wednesday night, Newsmax said she is no longer welcome on the right-wing network. Bolling brought her on to talk about immigration, and she ended up "pushing QAnon tropes, invoking blood libel, and fear-mongering about a 'global cabal' planning to 'dilute the pool of patriots' in the United States," The Daily Beast reports.
"Newsmax condemns in the strongest terms the reprehensible statements made by Lara Logan and her views do not reflect our network," Newsmax told The Daily Beast on Thursday. "We have no plans to interview her again."
Logan started her comments Wednesday by predicting the Biden administration is trying to engineer "a Reichstag fire" — an event the Nazis used to consolidate power and curtail liberties — then went on to claim she was shown a secret United Nations plan in which a "global cabal" would "dilute the blood of patriots" by importing 100 million immigrants, stating God knows "the open border is Satan's way of taking control of the world," and insisting Israeli intellectual Yuval Harari "and the rest of them at the World Economic Forum ... want us eating insects, cockroaches ... while they dine on the blood of children."
Fox News dropped Logan and scrapped her Fox Nation streaming show after she compared Dr. Anthony Fauci to a notorious Nazi doctor last year. Since then, The Daily Beast's Justin Baragona writes, "Logan has become increasingly associated with the QAnon community" and has "been openly peddling antisemitic tropes in recent months," often centered around "the Rothschilds."

After monthslong fears of a national railroad strike, Congress voted Wednesday to force an end to negotiations between the railroads and their unions with a pair of bills designed to draw concessions from both sides.
One bill (which passed with 79 Republican votes and 211 Democratic ones) codified the higher wages the railroads were offering. Members of Congress also voted to implement mandatory sick time as part of the deal, a nod to worker demands for more paid time off that railroads were unwilling to relent on.
Tumblr media
That successful amendment, sponsored by Democratic Representative Peter DeFazio and independent Senator Bernie Sanders, came on the heels of bipartisan criticism of President Joe Biden's support of a deal without concessions for paid time off, a deal-breaker that earned scorn from progressives like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez alongside conservatives like Missouri Senator Josh Hawley.
Tumblr media
Florida Senator Marco Rubio tweeted Tuesday he "will not vote to impose a deal that doesn't have the support of the rail workers."
Tumblr media
Ultimately, all but three Republican members of Congress—who, notably, have unlimited sick days and all 10 federal holidays off per year—still voted against it.
Internally, the result was largely expected. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy indicated to reporters prior to the vote few Republican members were expected to vote in favor of increasing paid time off.
Tumblr media
But outwardly, it's not clear why: So far, no Republicans have offered a public rationale for rejecting the deal, nor is it clear whether they opposed the concept of sick time or congressional intervention in railroad workers' efforts to negotiate the deal for themselves.
In early negotiations, the unions requested 15 days of sick leave, while the resolution adopted Wednesday notably had just seven. Numerous Democrats also voted against the larger bill to avert the strike, calling the compromise a betrayal of workers' desire to negotiate a contract on their terms.
However, the fact no Democrats voted against the sick time provision signaled to some that Republicans were voting to prevent workers from obtaining benefits they themselves have: namely, the ability to take time off work whenever they feel the need.
In an earlier vote in the Senate this year, North Carolina Republican Richard Burr and Mississippi Republican Roger Wicker introduced a resolution intended to resolve the strike that did not include provisions for sick leave, earning scorn from Sanders in a speech on the Senate floor. (The resolution failed.)
The disparity between railroaders and members of Congress was visibly on display on social media after the vote.
Notably, a Politifact examination of a Facebook post several years ago alleging similar claims determined there is no limit on sick days or time off for members of Congress, while a Bureau of Labor Statistics report from 2020 found the average private industry worker received an average of eight paid holidays, seven paid sick leave days and 11 paid vacation days per year after one year of work.
And while railroaders get anywhere between three to four weeks of paid vacation and over 10 personal leave days per year, many do not have the flexibility to use them the way people in other industries—like Congress—typically do.
"The 'working class party' strikes again," Justin Baragona, a media reporter for the Daily Beast, tweeted following the vote.

Dumbest Thing I've Ever Heard: 8/17/2023
Fifth Place: Ron DeSantis
An internal memo was leaked which revealed what DeSantis's strategy is going to be for the upcoming Republican debate, specifically it notes his four moves are:
Attack Joe Biden and the media
State GRD's positive vision
Hammer Ramaswamy
Defend Donald Trump
I wish to point out that DeSantis is running against Donald Trump--and one of his key plans to win the White House is to defend the man whenever possible. I also want to add that DeSantis plans to act confused and appalled that people running against Donald Trump--are attacking Donald Trump.
Fourth Place: Kurt Schlichter
A bit of an addition to the story mentioned above. You see, Schlichter really wants a Ron DeSantis presidency--and in his column today he not only talks about why he thinks Trump should skip the debates, but also throws this line in:
Now, most of the midget monsters of the kaiju menagerie besides Trumpzilla and King Ron are weak-hearts who will never dare cross Trump, either from fear of his wrath or because they entertain the dream that he will pick one of them as Veep 2.0.
Yeah, some of these Republicans are even writing memos saying they plan to not only defend Donald Trump but also attack other Republicans who are not playing ball.
Third Place: Tim Murphy
I'm just going to let Justin Baragona explain this one:
The guy currently peddling his book "The Christ Cure" on Newsmax and moralizing about trans kids and the LGBTQ agenda resigned from Congress in disgrace after it was revealed he pressured his mistress to get an abortion despite his pro-life stance.
Second Place: Will Hurd
He thinks he will qualify for the debates, how cute.
First Place: Pamela Paul
She wrote an article against sex work and, you know, I was originally going to go through point by point and debunk it--but it's literally the same shit The New York Times published last month, complete with the incorrect claim that most sex work is nonconsensual (only about ten percent of it is).
Pamela Paul, you've said the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

CNN FUCKED AROUND WITH TRUMP’S TOWN HALL, NOW FINDING OUT
CNN — now owned by Warner “Bros” Discovery, who, as I’ve mentioned, are morons — is learning the same thing as Twitter: there’s no mainstream audience for right-wing media, and no mainstream tolerance for insurrectionists or their sympathizers. Two weeks ago they embarrassed themselves by handing over a prime time hour of TV to Donald Trump. WBD CEO (and Biff-Tannen-in-glasses lookalike) David Zaslav bragged, “Republicans are back on the air.”
Now, reports Justin Baragona at The Daily Beast:
More than a week after CNN’s disastrous town hall with former President Donald Trump, the negative impact the fiasco had on the network’s ratings is coming into clearer focus. Last week, the cable news pioneer suffered its lowest-rated week since June 2015, averaging just 429,000 total daily viewers from Monday-Friday. CNN was also down double digits compared to the same week last year in both total viewership and in the key advertising demographic of viewers ages 25-54. MSNBC more than doubled CNN’s daily audience, drawing 976,000 total viewers, while Fox News averaged 1.4 million. [...]
Since the town hall, CNN has seen several of its weeknight hours — including Anderson Cooper — fall behind Newsmax, the fringe-right channel that has surged since Carlson’s ouster. And on Friday night, the channel’s much-hyped interview show hosted by Chris Wallace averaged only 224,000 total viewers at 10 p.m., drawing 60,000 fewer viewers than Newsmax’s offering.
Losing to Newsmax. Jiminy.

Tucker Carlson is now telling his audience to harass people who wear face masks outside. Furthermore, he says that if they see children wearing masks, the response should be no different than when you see a kid being abused -- "call the police immediately. Contact child protective services."
Clip posted here:
So much for freedom. How is it gonna hurt him, if someone's wearing a mask? It's not like they're at risk of infecting him with a clue.
People with medical conditions such as immune disorders or who are on cancer treatments or immunosuppressants because of organ transplants have been getting honked at, harassed, and screamed at to take off masks every day, even BEFORE this broadcast. Anti-Asian bigotry has combined with anti-masker harassment to make things especially bad for people who have imported the sensible custom of wearing a mask when sick to avoid giving other people their cold or flu.
It's illegal to file fraudulent CPS reports, but he's encouraging it. Likewise tying up emergency services with frivolous 911 calls is stupid.
Worst of all, you can bet most FOX viewers have no compunctions about calling the cops on Black families.
Suggestions.
1. CALL FOX NEWS AND COMPLAIN: 1-888-369-4762
2. CHECK OUT https://unfoxmycablebox.com
3. Or contact your cable company directly, saying this is the last straw, demanding not to have to pay for FOX when it's inciting harassment and illegal activities.
4. Complain to FOX sponsors?
I haven't investigated #4, but if anyone's got info on ways to do it, please share.

A heated early June call between Fox execs and Black staffers was just the beginning of an internal revolt against racism at the network, insiders told The Daily Beast.
They created a white supremacist cell inside the top cable network in America. — A Fox News staffer to The Daily Beast
Lachlan Cartwright Lloyd Grove Andrew Kirell Noah Shachtman Justin Baragona Jul. 18, 2020 1
Four days after Fox News aired a particularly tone-deaf graphic connecting the killings of Black men—including George Floyd and Martin Luther King Jr.—to stock market gains, many of the network’s Black staffers took part in a phone call with company brass to confront Fox’s increasingly racist and hostile rhetoric towards the protests against police brutality.
It did not go well.
The call on June 9 lasted more than 90 minutes and included Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott, President Jay Wallace, and HR chief Kevin Lord, people familiar with the matter told The Daily Beast. It was led by Scott, who is white, and Marsheila J. Hayes, the vice president of diversity and inclusion at Fox Corporation, who is Black.
It was almost immediately rife with tension. One staffer directly asked why Bret Baier—the anchor of the network’s key weekday news broadcast, Special Report, which aired the offensive graphic—was not on the call, nor any other white on-air talent. (Baier had previously apologized for the “major screw-up,” noting that, because the show bears his name, “the buck stops with me.” Fox News also apologized for the “insensitivity” of the infographic, adding that it “should have never aired on television without full context.”)
Other participants on the call expressed anger and distress about rampant racism at Fox, both on- and off-air.
Fox Business Network host Charles Payne, who is Black, was particularly incensed, according to multiple people who attended the call. In fact, he had previously called Scott directly and, per a person familiar, was “ripshit” about the Baier graphic debacle and about racist remarks that Laura Ingraham had recently made on the air.
At one point on the June 9 call, sources told The Daily Beast, an irate Payne suggested he’d been the victim of racial discrimination, repeatedly passed over for opportunities given instead to white colleagues. Elsewhere, the staffers recalled, Payne, who has been at Fox since 2007, lamented the network’s tone when covering Black cultural stories, including the killing of California rapper and anti-gang activist Nipsey Hussle. How can he talk to his children about Fox News, the host wondered, when it portrays people like Hussle in a racist, stereotypical manner as a gangster?
But even if the call may have been therapeutic, staffers say the network has since then made barely any progress on confronting its own racism.
In the month since, on-air talent has continued to rant against the Black Lives Matter “mob” and proclaim that America is “under attack,” while a top writer for Tucker Carlson’s show was ousted just last week for his pseudonymous racist and sexist posts on an online troll forum.
Two people familiar with the situation told The Daily Beast that Fox Corporation CEO Lachlan Murdoch personally approved what Carlson would say in his defensive Monday remarks addressing the exit of his top writer. Despite demands from Fox News executives that he pre-tape the segment and strike a conciliatory tone, Carlson barely sounded apologetic, knowing he had the full backing of the Murdoch heir.

The Daily Beast recently came under fire for investigating and ultimately outing a private citizenfor the crime of sharing a video that makes fun of Nancy Pelosi.
Now they are claiming that speculating about Joe Biden’s health is out of bounds.
Justin Baragona writes:
Fox News Stars Begin Pushing Rumors About Joe Biden’s Health
One month after Joe Biden announced his run for president, several Fox News stars have already begun quietly pushing rumors that the 76-year-old ex-veep is in poor health.
Since the end of May, Fox Business Network and Fox News star Lisa “Kennedy” Montgomery and Fox News prime-time host Sean Hannity have speculated on-air, on at least four separate occasions, that the current Democratic presidential frontrunner is secretly dealing with health issues, often comparing his condition to illness-related conspiracy theories the network pushed about Hillary Clinton during the 2016 election.
The Biden rumor-mongering seemingly began May 29, during the broadcast of Fox News’ afternoon gabfest The Five. While assessing Biden’s candidacy, Kennedy claimed to know Democratic operatives engaged in a whisper campaign about Biden’s health.
“He is much more like Hillary Clinton, because if you talk to Democrats, who are working for different campaigns, all of the aggressive gossip whisperers—and this is where the action is happening in terms of opposition research—it’s people having a few drinks at a bar and whispering, ‘You know there is something wrong with the former vice president,’” she claimed. “But that’s what they are actively doing right now. And it is surprising because they are concerned with taking Biden down and getting their candidate out there.”
Here’s the best part of the article. It’s so good I’m going to bold it:
In the news business, it is considered irresponsible to spread baseless, potentially damaging rumors about public figures.
That is an astounding statement, and if it were true, every liberal media outlet would now be effectively out of business. CNN and MSNBC have built their entire business models on this notion.
And what about the Daily Beast? We recently noted the return of the Democrats’ favorite Yale psychiatrist, the one who has helped them push the idea that Trump is mentally unfit for office.
And in March of 2018, the Daily Beast published this:
How Close Is Donald Trump to a Psychiatric Breakdown?
With reports that a giddy commander in chief is running around the White House like a kid freed of any adult supervision, having dispatched every moderate who hasn’t resigned in hopes of saving a shred of his integrity, Donald Trump now appears to be in a state of mania as he escalates his efforts to bolster his fragile ego before he goes into the cage with special counsel Robert Mueller—or fires him.
This was exactly what the contributors to the book The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump warned about six months ago. The psychiatric professionals who contributed to the book have monitored and come to know Trump’s character better than most clients they have treated or people they have interviewed. As the special prosecutor’s noose tightens around the president and his cultish family, it is increasingly clear that he is an imminent danger to the public, and this impinges on professionals’ duty to society. Sheehy wrote about the book and its genesis in these pages last October (Sheehy and Sword also contributed to the book).
In October of 2017, the Daily Beast published this:
These 27 Top Shrinks Think Trump Might Be Nuts
The president attacks the mayor of San Juan after a devastating hurricane as the death toll rises. In his maiden UN speech, he threatens North Korea with “total destruction.” His tweetstorms show a narcissistic mind obsessed with cutting down critics and igniting culture wars while ignoring the responsibilities of his office. No wonder a new poll shows that a stunning 56 percent of Americans believe Donald Trump is “not fit” to serve as president.
But while much of America has begun speaking openly about the mental state of their president, the actual professionals in the field of psychiatry are prohibited from doing so because of the gag rule imposed by the American Psychiatric Association (APA).
Does anyone at the Daily Beast read the Daily Beast?
And more importantly, haven’t they heard this?
In the news business, it is considered irresponsible to spread baseless, potentially damaging rumors about public figures.
CNN, which has also pushed the narrative about Trump’s mental health, is also now running interference for Biden.
Chris Cillizza writes:
Fox News crosses the line on Joe Biden
For anyone who watches Fox News Channel, it’s not at all surprising that its anchors and hosts (with few notable exceptions) talk up President Donald Trump while knocking down the Democrats running against him in 2020.
While that position puts Fox somewhere in the grey area between journalism and activism, it’s not exactly new. There are ratings in partisanship — so Fox News engages in partisanship.
But even partisanship should have its limits. And one of those limits should be raising entirely unfounded questions about a presidential candidate’s health. Which is exactly what two Fox News personalities — Kennedy and Sean Hannity — have done, according to this terrific piece by the Daily Beast Justin Baragona…
CNN’s Brian Stelter tweeted this:
Biden camp says "these are baseless lies meant to stoke fear in their viewers. It has no place in our public discourse, and anyone amplifying it bears some responsibility for giving it legitimacy it most certainly does not deserve"
NEW — Taking a page from the 2016 playbook, Fox News hosts are already spreading baseless rumors about Joe Biden’s healthhttps://www.thedailybeast.com/fox-news-stars-begin-pushing-rumors-about-joe-bidens-health?ref=home …
