Domenica Daniel stuck with the magic of Korean fashion and brought it to Greece
Opportunity to dive into K-culture, to close the east-west distances and to shout "I come from Korea and I feel good".
"If you do not go to Asia you will not see anything different," my father, who had traveled all over the world, had told me. As a captain's daughter, the escape is in my blood. At one point my friends called me "the weird traveler". Then came the pandemic and travel became conceivable. The computer became the vehicle to the next station and shopping easier than ever.
In such a search for a new daydreaming destination I stumbled upon myhallyu.com and got stuck. "Let go of the Korean fashion wave," he writes, and I instinctively surf. So far all I knew about the country was these BTS, the viral, pop band that dethroned Rihanna from the top, in one night, in 2018.
This, plus the porcelain skins of Korean women and that if here in Athens, the time is 4:13 at noon there is 11:13 at night.
I look a little further and reach the site's founder, Domenica Daniel.
"Initially I had the pleasure of working for a while in the field, being in the commercial part of a large company, so I had a first taste and feeling," he says while being introduced. "On the staff, I always liked to follow trends, developments, read, discover new designers and experiment with the style and style of clothes for it and I did not think twice about daring with My Hallyu. "Korean fashion immediately caught up with me and challenged me to discover it."
"My Hallyu for me came out completely normal, as soon as I discovered the magic of Korean fashion and its absence from the Greek market. But let's start from the beginning. The first Korean drama I saw was an occasion to get in touch and get to know Korean culture. I was immediately impressed by the fashion and the general aesthetics. I quickly started searching, reading and learning as much as possible about itand to my great surprise I saw that there was not so much in the Greek but also in the European market an e-shop dedicated to Korean fashion. So after a year of research on Korean clothing, and not only, and of course after visiting Seoul for a while, I decided to create the first Exlcusive Korean Hub in Greece, presenting for the first time to the Greek public an e- Korean style shop. I knew from the beginning that this is a very difficult project but my love for this special fashion was and is greater than my anxieties and it is what makes me believe in the success of this project. So I decided to let this creative wave take me to a new beginning. And as always, in a new beginning there are shortcomings, mistakes and difficulties but for surebehind all this is my love for this culture. "What I wish is to be able, even for a while, to" drag "you with me, in this wave and to discover a new trend of fashion, aesthetics, beauty".
Myhallyu means wave
"Hallyu is used internationally as a term to describe the creative 'explosion' of Korean culture. It literally means the wave, which is why it prevailed as terminology to describe the whole creative wave of Korean culture that includes music, movies, cuisine, fashion. So this wave swept me too. That's why I named the e-shop, MyHallyu is essentially, the Korean Wave through my own eyes.
At first I was impressed by the completely different, rewarding and at the same time natural way of dealing with fashion. It is as if they have an innate style that they constantly cultivate, experimenting with trends, textures, colors. So when I decided to start a business with Korean Style, I considered it necessary to have a personal image and opinion about it. So in the fall of 2019 I was in South Korea and specifically Seoul, where I stayed for a month. I got to know the designers up close, I attended Seoul Fashion Week, I observed people, I lived for a while in their rhythms and I got a more complete, experiential image of the Korean Wave, which made me even more "stuck" with the place, people and especially their fashion.
"There is no doubt that there is influence from Korea. Two typical examples that we meet in European fashion are streetwear and the oversized look while we are gradually seeing the adoption of current trends in Korea such as that of gendre fluid with clothes, accessories and style that can be worn by everyone, as well as eco trend, of "zero waste" that focuses on innovative fabrics ".
What is the dominant style of a modern Korean woman today?
"In Korea we see a complete stylistic approach, with comfortable, elegant, Unisex lines with character, which usually includes make up & hair styling. For example, a look starring the shades of pink and purple, will make sure to complete it with the corresponding color in hair and makeup. At the same time, the Koreans have perfected the oversized look by playing with combinations. In a magical way, they manage the body not to lose its proportions and shape in fashion items with a large volume, as they take care to combine it with narrower pieces, or with statement shoes. But what I kept most as an image, is that in Korea you will meet inventive young people who dare and experiment with their style and try through it to build their own different, personal, distinct identity. There has certainly been a significant development in Greece, with the modern Greek woman taking more care of herself, looking for, learning about new trends and with a number of remarkable Greek designers doing a really good job .. I think we have started to successfully adopt streetwear and gradually I notice that there is a mood experimenting in style and I believe that in the coming years and as soon as we overcome the objective difficulties that the pandemic has brought, we will surely see beautiful images.
"In general, I am a fan of the idea that clothes are good to treat as an investment, and they should make us feel good and special. The truth is that the limited collections and the idea of limited pieces have this mood and character, on the other hand we have to admit that fast fashion brought the idea of affordable style in our lives. So I think that a good combination of the two can bring a beautiful aesthetic result.
MyHallyu is a Korean exclusive hub that hides the "foam" of the Korean style. Our goal is to be a fashion communication channel presenting all Korean trends through established designers and k-brands, always maintaining high quality at all levels. We are currently building the categories of clothing, jewelry, accessories and cosmetics. Clothes with minimal, special cut, most of which have unisex application, jewelry of unique design in silver and gold, vegan unique skincare products, which beauty lovers will really love and unique k-pop accessories."Our plans are to update our material on a regular basis and to present, constantly, more and more innovative designers of this creative Korean wave."

Sorry I'm going to go off for a second.
This whole 'my music taste is better than yours' thing on tumblr is so childish and immature.
Who cares if someone listens to Taylor Swift, or Harry Styles or K-pop.
Yeah, you can find the fandom annoying but this is just like when everyone was making fun of teen girls for being into One Direction, Justin Bieber or Taylor Swift as well - because girls can't like anything without being made fun of constantly, apparently.
People who make fun of others that listen to pop music and then try to act superior because they listen to screamo or edgy songs about death and depression aren't half as cool as they think they are - in fact they make themselves and the artists they like look bad.
You can hate an artist and you can find an fandom annoying without immediately making it into a whole thing of 'you're not allowed to call yourself mentally ill/a music lover/[insert thing here] because you listen to pop'
