Me when Kabukicho Sherlock first started: Okay, I’m not going to be surprised when Moriarty inevitably turns out to be evil.
Me 20 episodes later when Moriarty inevitably turns out to be evil:

I just chose one picture of James to illustrate it but he was creepy everytime he appeared on the screen. (All the mansion, seriously?!)
AND FINALLY!!!
Tumblr media
NOOOOOO! I seriously expected that Watson would be targeted to make Sherlock lose his restraint, with all the comparaison with Alex but still... Not my baby Watson! I really hope he’s going to survive that because GOD DAMNIT!!!

Ten Things I love about Anime Winter 2020
1) The Animation Style of Toilet-Bound Hanako-Kun.  The animation style is something I have never seen in an anime series before. The easiest way to describe it is that it is a moving and living manga, vibrant and brilliant collars, unique character personalities, and creative plot lines. The first thing to strike the watcher is how bright and childish the background and the character designs are, and while the first episode may be rather slice-of-life and wholesome, the art itself is what draws you in to watch more.

2) Learning About the Universe Along Side Sakaido To experience the show ID: Invaded in the best way, it is recommended to watch the show without any prior knowledge-- this includes reading the show’s description. To be fair, it is possible to read up about the show before watching, but most of that will be containing spoilers and draw the fun away from the mystery, mostly due to the fact that this is an anime original series. Both the watcher and the main character, Sakaido, wake up in this mysterious and broken world, and the show quickly turns into a fantastic murder mystery.

3) Catgirls  Catgirls come in many sizes, variants, and personalities, and are featured in many different kinds of shows. This kind of mystical animal is rather popular in modern anime culture, bringing about the greats such as Felix from Re:Zero, Blair from Soul Eater, and Cyan Hirijrikawa from Show by Rock!!, but Winter 2020 brings about a new batch of catgirls. To name a few shows that include catgirls this season: Seton Academy, Interspecies Reviewers, Bofuri, BNHA, and Nekopara. While these shows include a catgirl or two, the show that is exclusively about catgirls and only continues to included humans is Nekopara. The premise of this show is that a human that own’s a couple catgirls opens up a bakery and the three of them have fun interacting with their friends and family while being extremely wholesome and cute.

4) Haikyuu Season 4 Haikyuu is a long-running series that encompasses four seasons, several movies, and OVAs but season 4 is something special. The art style of this season drastically changed, giving the characters fewer details while defining their stature and muscles, but by doing this, the series fits the manga art style of this arch more accurately. While the toning down of the art style may less some disappointed, such as myself, it is undoubted a bold choice of the animation team to do this to help reflect the original source and bring new flavor to the show. Fans of this show along awaited this new season, to see their favorite characters grown and change in new environments and with new characters. If a person is wanting to watch a sports anime, Haikyuu is definitely a way to go.

5) My Hero Academy: Season 4 Cultural Festival Arc The first half of season 4 of My Hero was the most brutal and tear-jerking arc so far of the series, but after all of the stress and pain, there is a joyful break before the pain comes back again. The cultural festival arc was ultimately spoiled by it’s fantastic and beautiful opening. This part of the season will showcase the supporting characters and their backgrounds, with a heavy emphasis on Jirou and her rock music background. For the cultural festival, the class of A1 puts on a rock band, lead by Jirou which gets even the most suborn characters involved and having fun.

6) The Cuteness of Somali and The Forst Spirits The first couple of episodes of this season bring about feelings of calm, love, and adventure. The show is about this earth that has been overrun by creatures that establish peaceful societies and calming atmosphere, and on this earth, a forest guardian called Golem finds this little human girl alone in a forest. Knowing that the human race was nearly erased, Golem oddly enough takes her in, keeping her as his own daughter as they walk across countries to find other humans to take care of her. A series such as this will remind the watcher of the show called Made in Abyss, which is young and lively with its stunning visuals, but there is always fear and danger lurking close behind.

7) Cute Girls doing Cute Things Anime A subgroup of the slice-of-life genre is about cute girls being cute. Two series this season bring about this message clearly: Astroides in Love and Bofuri: I Don't Want to Get Hurt, so I'll Max Out My Defense. Asteroids in Love focuses on these two girls and some friends creating an astronomy club to discover an asteroid to name after a friend, letting these school girls find themselves and discover new wonders along the way. Bofuri’s description is in the title; a girl enters a virtual reality game and boosts her defense stats to make her basically invisible, and has fun along the way. This kind of anime is comedic and light-hearted, allowing the viewer to relax and have fun alongside the characters.

8) Best Crossover: Isekai Quartet Nearly every anime watcher has dreamed of a crossover that entails their favorite characters, anyone who loves Re:Zero, Overlord, Konosuba, and Youjo Senki will enjoy this show. The main characters of these four shows come together in a school environment and will interact while doing as they pleased. Watching Subaru and Kazuma compare their pain and characters such as Emilia and Megumin who share the same voice actor be in the same room together. Personally, my favorite character of season two is Chomuske, Megumin’s mystical creature/cat pet hangs out with her cute cat features and who breath’s fire behind her owner’s back.

9) The Quirkiness of Case File nº221: Kabukicho Sherlock Holmes and John Watson have been tirelessly rebooted in different shows, movies, books, plays, etc, but never have I seen a reboot as unique and special as this one. This adaption takes place in the city of Kabukicho, Japan, and follows John Watson as he tries to pursue Sherlock to take his case while helping him solve other cases. The outstanding properties of this show is that some of the supporting characters are drag queens, another detective is gay, and that to help solve cases, Sherlock enters a form of Japanese play called  Rakugo.

10) Darwin’s Game is Better Than Expected As a manga reader, I drifted and somehow found Darwin’s Game. In my opinion. the manga was okay with the unbalanced powers, how the game operates unrealistic, and the plot difficult to stay a hold to. While I had these preconceptions, I still stayed to watch the show and I was proud that I did. The animation team went all out, creating surprising visuals, and even changed some scenes for the better which created a more personal connection to the characters and a more drastic feel to the show. Darwin’s Game has become one of the most interesting killing game anime.
