sometimes i think about when kouta had his requisite "hero feels depressed and hopeless and then finds motivation at the same time as he gets an upgrade" arc except him finding motivation was just him having an very abstract philosophical conversation with the shady deity guy handing out belts and then he was like yay i have somehow gained confidence from this time to kick some ass. when all along i was like, there was another way to do this that would actually have emotionally landed instead of just throwing a bunch of deep-sounding words around. i remember that a lot because i feel like that sums up gaim very well. it's all pretentious talk with no substance to back it up

#at least kachidoki arms is a kickass suit

so i found this character idea in my google drive folder of various Infernocross-related things and, being in a creative kinda mood, ive decided to give Garath here a design.

immediately, my first thought was "prehistoric, hunter-gatherer, caveman/early human". lots of early civilization kind of vibes. so, as i began envisioning the end product, i opened coolors and came up with this palette:

in order: undersuit, trim, main outfit, accessories, eye color. i'm thinking something like the barbarian armor from breath of the wild, though with minor touches of kachidoki arms. in other words, bulky fight gear with bones on it.

will update when i've got something started in HM3.

I feel a little mean saying this, but Gaim's final form is a little...off to me? It's more simple and small. Like, Kachidoki Arms suits his general aesthetic more, I guess? Big and colorful and over the top.

post canon where Yuri just gets REALLY angry during one of Yuya's duels. He hasn't experienced any kind of anger ever since he and the other boys became one. But it was there, and Yuya felt a pang of that emotion in his chest.

All because of an instance similar to his duel with Kachidoki, Yuya's opponent was rather violent during the action due. To keep Yuya from getting an action card, the much larger man had knocked him off a platform. To Yusho and Yoko and Yuzu's relief in the audience; Yuya wasn't high and landed on his feet.

Unluckily for Yuya's opponent though, Yuri wanted to come out and take over Yuya's body to duel. Yuri was still learning how to atone for what he had did in the past, he wanted to help and protect Yuya. Yuya was hesitant considering how upset Yuri was, but Yuri with a devilish smirk promised he'll behave. He was just bored, and starve venom wanted some action as well.

Yuya stands, he trusts Yuri and Yuto and Yugo also gave their approval. Yuya had his eyes closed for a few seconds, his opponent was laughing and calling him a coward. When his eyes open again, they're no longer the kind green, they're a vibrant pink filled with a menacing aura.

"How dare you call us a coward, you're about to learn your place." Yuri said with a mischievous smirk and stood in his drawing pose.

With ease he was able to draw what he needed to summon starve venom. Yuri took down this large adult easily and he laughed softly to himself, he could've been a little meaner; but Yuri restrained himself in his promise to Yuya. Yuri closes his eyes and puts a hand over his heart with a smile.

"Were always looking out for you Yuya, never hesitate to ask us or our dragons for help." Yuri mused in a soft voice.

Yuya was back in control over his body again, he kept the hand over his heart and smiled warmly as Yuto, Yugo and Yuri appeared around him.

"Thank you guys." Yuya whispered.

The boys disappeared, Yuya can still feel their essence from within him as he held up his arms to address the audience with a big smile.

I know Knuckle is considered an extra Rider... but... I kinda want to promote him to secondary lol. i mean Gaim's secondary is dead, you know...

Naah this is just me showing my bias for KR Knuckle, I really loved how he developed and the fact that he asked Oren to make a bomb for him still lives rent free in my mind.

Hmm, yeah, Micchy would probably "inherit" that title, or if not him, Takatora- he regains his powers in a stage show and even gets a power up in the vein of Kachidoki Arms, which is Kouta's super form.

Thematically Takatora fits better imo, as most secondaries start out antagonistic to the main Rider and end up on good terms with them, while Micchy went the opposite way (although he does atone and end up back on friendly terms with Kouta). And he does have the seriousness and gravitas that contrasts nicely with Kouta's... um, airheadedness?
