"all i'm saying is that yellow does not look good with green." dina sighed as she placed a jar of kimchi in the grocery kart. "maybe if she'd spend less time kissing derek's ass and more time planning out her outfits, she'd wouldn't give everyone in the office a migraine first thing in the morning."

jesse listened attentively to dina's rant as he pushed the cart. you followed closely beside them, lost in your own thoughts. ellie was coming over today. the girl from across the hall, the one with auburn hair, green eyes, and a slit near the corner of her eyebrow. the girl you barely knew but hoped to befriend. "earth to (y/n)." dina waved a hand in front of your face.

you snapped back to reality. "oh, hm?"

"were you even listening to me?"

"yeah, yeah." you said as you tried recalling what she said. "you're jealous that kaitlyn got promoted and you didn't, i got it."

jesse laughed as dina smacked your arm. "no, i am not! her outfits are actually horrendous. it just so also happens to be fact that derek chose her over me to run the world events section of our magazine."

"right, total coincidence." you nudged her playfully as you walked past her to grab two things of ben and jerry's.

jesse watched as you placed the items in the cart and then looked back at dina. he wiggled his eyebrows suggestively, making his wife grin. "aw, you're so thoughtful... for me?"

you scoffed as you already told her and jesse about your plans with ellie later. "shut up."

"no, it's cute.” dina said. “ben and jerry's isn't cheap. it’s like seven dollars a pint. this girl must be really special.”

“i already told you, we’re only hanging out as friends.” you reminded dina.

“hey, i never said otherwise.” she shot her hands up defensively. “but now that we’re on the subject of dating, do you have your eyes set on anyone at the moment?”

you placed a box of generic pepperoni pizza in the cart, not needing much time to think about the question. “no, not really.”

“what about joy?” dina referred to a coworker you briefly went out with.

“two bottoms don’t make a top, d.” jesse muttered as he scratched the back of his neck.

“fuck you.” you laughed. “i’m a switch. don’t disrespect me like that again.”

jesse and dina laughed. “but come on, joy?”

“what? i liked joy. she was sweet.” the trio pulled into one of the self-checkout registers.

“no, no, she was okay.” jesse shrugged as he began ringing up their items. “stacy on the other hand,” jesse turned his neck to face you. “now she was a keeper.”

“uh, no, she was a total bitch.” dina cursed. “she legit told me to 'tone it down' that one time we took (y/n) to the bar for her birthday. i mean, sorry for my overly excited behavior but i was drunk and grateful that my best friend had made it another year."

“dina, you literally pushed her off of (y/n) when it was time to blow out the candles.” jesse reminded the lightweight girl.

dina shrugged it off as she crossed her arms. “well, since they ended up not working out, we don’t have to worry about cropping stacy out of (y/n)’s birthday pictures now, do we?”

a small chuckle left your lips. "you guys are hilarious."

as soon as ellie found a parking spot, she quickly got out of her car and raced inside the apartment building. one hand clutched a bouquet of flowers as the other looked for the time on her phone.

5:47 p.m.

"fuck, fuck, fuck." ellie cursed. she wanted so desperately to change out of her drenched clothes and take a shower before seeing you, but she was already late. late over something so stupid. her phone began to ring, it was her sister. ellie hesitated before answering it as she got on the elevator.

"what, sarah?" her voice was harsh and held a bit of bitterness.

"i'm sorry about what happened." she cried. "it's my fault, i shouldn't have said what i said. god, i'm so stupid."

ellie felt her bottom lip throb at the pain that radiated from the cut that sat there. "how many times do i have to tell you, sarah, it's not your fault. i honestly don't want to talk about this right now, i got shit to do but i'll call you in the morning. okay?"

"ellie, i'm sorry." sarah apologized again.

a moment of silence lingered between the two sisters before the elevator came to a stop. ellie held back the emotions that begged to come out as she tightened her grip around the phone. "i'll call you tomorrow."

after hanging up, she nervously walked up to your front door. her fist floated in the air as she contemplated weather it'd still be a good idea to come over. rain paddled harshly against the bay window, helping her soothe the nerves and adrenaline coursing through her veins. better late than never, right?

you slightly flinched at the sound of rough knocking coming from your front door. your heart jumped at the idea of ellie finally arriving. for a long while there you began to think she had stood you up. your feet found themselves rushing towards the door. "hey, (y/n), it's ellie. i know i'm a little late, i'm sorry."

you opened the door, a blank look on your face. "a little? try almost an hour."

ellie smiled at the fact that you still decided to open the door. to her, you seemed like the kind of girl with high standards. one slip up and you were put in the doghouse. "i know and again i'm sorry, it's just i was at my sister's house for my niece's birthday an-"

ellie tried explaining herself, making sure to spare the actual important details. you tried paying attention to what she was saying but your eyes immediately latched on to the pink bruise below one of her eyes and then to the cut on her bottom lip. you instinctively stepped forward and grabbed her face. "what the hell happened to you?"

ellie was taken aback by the sudden gesture. your hands were as gentle and nurturing as the look in your eyes and the tone in your voice. she wanted to pull away but couldn't find it in herself to actually move. "i- um- i-"

if you weren't so concerned over the damage to ellie's face, you would've teased her for the stuttering. your hand reached for her wrist as you pulled her in. once you had locked the front door, you dragged ellie to your bathroom. "wait here." you told her.

ellie sat the flowers on your sink as she looked around. her attention was caught by a drawing hung up on the outer part of the door. it looked like a little kid did it, their name was even signed at the bottom. ellie knew you didn't have kids, she surely would've seen one by now. maybe you had nieces and nephews too?

you returned to the bathroom a few moments later, with your first aid kit. "oh, that's not necessary." ellie tried assuring you.

"who's the nurse here?" you sarcastically responded before setting the kit down on the sink... next to the flowers. a faint smile maneuvered its way onto your lips as you reached for it. "are these for me?"

ellie sighed, looking disappointedly at the ragged bouquet of flowers. "they looked better when i first bought them," her eyes then looked into yours. "i swear, it's just the stupid rain ruined them."

"no, it's fine. it's the gesture that counts." you played with one of the lose pedals. "though i got to say, it's not a very appropriate gift to get a friend."

ellie chuckled as you took out a packet of disinfected wipes, a tube of rubbing cream and a small bandage from the kit. "their just flowers, not a ring." you moved to stand right in front of her.

"well, what if i wanted a ring instead?" you joked as you grabbed her chin.

"then, i'd scream and run the other direction." she half-heartedly joked back.

you let out a small laugh as you dried ellie's face with a paper towel. "not the commitment type, huh?"

"not at all..." ellie answered truthfully. your hand dropped her face for only a second as you ripped open a packet to one of the disinfected wipes.

"that explains a lot." you went back to holding her face. she slightly winced as you carefully brushed the wipe on her cut.

"what do you mean?" she mumbled against your touch.

"well, i'm not home much but when i am..." you discarded the old wipe and opened the rubbing cream. "i hear just the weirdest and most heartbreaking things come from the hallway when i'm anywhere near my door."

"weird and heartbreaking?" ellie repeated. "like what?"

"hmm, let's see." you rubbed some of the cream on her bruised cheekbone. the closeness was enough to get ellie riled up, not even you could deny how succulent and full her lips looked under your fluorescent lights. "ellie, open your door. ellie, why are you ignoring my calls and text? ellie, are you seeing other people? ellie, promise me i'm the only girl you're seeing right now or we're over!"

you mimicked the voices of all the girls who found themselves crawling back to the chick from apartment 512. ellie laughed, a blush creeping up on her cheeks. "i like the way you say my name. you should say it more often.”

you scoffed as you reached for the bandage and opened it, a smile still rested well and evident on your mouth. you kept quiet as you placed the bandage on the part of the cut the surpassed her lips. you took a second to analyze ellie's face, taking in the dark beauty that stood before you. "all better."

ellie balled up her fist when you stepped back. the urge to pull you in was hardly bearable. she thought back to all the girls she slept with before and imagined you taking their place. was it so wrong that you two met just the other day and she was already thinking about making you scream her name for everyone on your floor to hear?

"do you want some ice cream?" you came back after putting your kit away.

"huh?" the girl stood straight up.

"ice cream? i have ben and jerry's." you repeated.

ellie chuckled at the fact that she was thinking about all the dirty ways she could mark up your body and then here you were, asking her if she wanted ice cream after fixing up her boo boo’s. you drew in your eyebrows as your smile fell, not knowing what was so funny. "what? do you not like ice cream?"

ellie scrunched her nose. "what kind of a psycho doesn’t like ice cream?”

you smiled again, feeling relieved. "thank god, for a second there i thought i was gonna have to kick you out." your eyes analyzed her damped state. if it was you in her shoes, your sensory issues would've been off the walls. "but if you want, you can go home and get yourself cleaned up?"

"you sure?" ellie questioned. "i was already late, i don't want to keep wasting your time."

you waved her off. "no, it's fine. just looking at the way your jacket is clinging to your arms is making my skin crawl."

"oh, really?" ellie smirked.

you chuckled, beginning to find ellie's flirtatious comments humorous. "not like that. now go and get cleaned up. i wanna know the crazy story behind your beat-up face."

"i'd rather not traumatize you with the details." ellie replied, not really wanting to relive them either.

"okay, that's fine." you shrugged as you crossed your arms. "at least tell me who won."

the auburn-haired girl smiled smugly, remembering the mangled state she left her brother-in-law in. "well, i just hope, for his sake, that he lives across from a doctor."

so i was curious how long it takes for the infection to take root and force the host to turn based on the times given to us by the game using its scene-by-scene clock, but the results of my investigation have not at all turned out like i was expecting them to, and i wanted to share them since it might be useful to some of my fellow detail-oriented writers.

NOTE: all times used are not adjusted and are taken directly from the beginning of each scene. they do not reflect the accurate time that the characters may have been bitten. this is all just to provide a rounded approximation of the rate of infection for each character. also, i am aware of the other times that many of these characters can become infected, however, i am only including the routes in which they are shown to fully become werewolves over the course of the game itself.

max:

infected in the quarry lodge storm shelter at 00:26. turned in the north kill jail at 03:27. time to become fully infected – 3 hours

nick:

infected in the woods at 21:10. turned in the pool house at 23:33. time to become fully infected – 2 hours 20 minutes

dylan:

infected in the radio hut at 22:24. turned in the scrapyard at 2:10. time to become fully infected – 3 hours 40 minutes

laura:

infected on the island at 23:30. turned in the hackett house at 03:10. time to become fully infected – 3 hours 40 minutes

jacob:

infected on the wood bridge at 22:30. turned in the woods at 03:33. time to become fully infected – 4 hours

emma, route 1 (woods):

infected in the woods at 23:52. turned in the storm shelter at 02:29. time to become fully infected – 2 hours 40 minutes

and i’m hesitant to include this one due to the fact that the exact time of her turning is unknown but i’ll include this infection line just for the sake of it

emma, route 2 (treehouse):

infected on the island at 21:43. turned in the van between 23:52 and 01:35. time to become fully infected – somewhere between 2 hours 10 minutes and 3 hours 50 minutes  

kaitlyn and ryan are never shown to turn throughout the duration of the game, and abigail is cured of infection before she ever gets the chance to turn. 

these approximations show that the rate of infection for each character is wildly different. in storytelling terms this makes sense, as the moments in which all of these characters turn help to progress the story/keep every moment suspenseful. naturally there would be no set amount of time for the infection to take over, because doing so would only put a limit on what the narrative was able to do with each character up to a certain point before they would become indisposed.

from a lore perspective though, there is much to consider here. for some characters it can be theorised that they were able to hold out against the infection for so long due to their prior knowledge of how it works and what signs to look out for (dylan and laura). in jacob’s case, this doesn’t hold as much weight due to the fact that apart from his initial return to the firepit after nick was infected, he never learned of his inevitable turning and the symptoms he displayed, yet jacob still did not change until after an approximate four hours of being infected.

it’s unlikely that the rate of infection speeds up in the face of injury or heightened adrenaline/emotion, namely due to the fact that many of these characters are injured or otherwise put into extremely demanding emotional states over the course of the game without changing. nick turning after being shot by abi doesn’t work to argue this, as even if you do not shoot him, he begins to turn anyway.

again, this is all up for personal speculation. for all we know, the rate of infection could depend on how much sand and dirt you ate as a kid to strengthen your immune system. (don’t even try to tell me that jacob, dylan, and laura weren’t chronic sand and/or dirt eaters when they were still little. i know the truth)

eee omg !! I am .. here :D this is an unfinished piece [from like 2 months ago :< ], but i hope posting this will help me get back into the groove of things ^^ if you like this, maybe give me a character to write for (from supermassive games) !!

Dylan’s voice cuts through the noisy speaker, his trashy pop song turned down just enough so he can really focus on what he’s saying. It’s hard to pay attention, and you don’t really want to, considering he’s turned entirely away from you and Kaitlyn. He’s engrossed elsewhere, laughing and blushing and throwing his liquor around as he tries to find his footing and make Ryan swoon. But the way Ryan’s smiling makes it seem he already has; they’re attached at the hip and you wouldn’t be surprised if their hands were in each other’s back pockets (figuratively, of course - Dylan could never be so forward). Ryan whispers something in Dylan’s ear and it looks like they’re about to excuse themselves to the tent some yards away. You can’t help but wonder what they’re up to.

Kaitlyn sighs from beside you, and admittedly, you almost forgot she was there. “Young love, right?” She’s dripping with sarcasm - not unlike how she is every night - it makes you smile.

“I don’t know,” tonight is perfect for them, of course the last night of summer camp would ignite something they’ve been ignoring for so long. “I hope it works out.”

“… Yea,” she sounded torn, and her soggy demeanor was anything but surprising. They were happy, and you knew that made her happy - but you also knew that once she found out Dylan was interested she’d backed off of Ryan entirely. She was longing in silence just as much as you were.

Or are, right now. You blink and swish around the liquor in your bottle, “This stuff is awful.”

The trickling firelight curved against Kaitlyn’s face, and you couldn’t really tell when you first started looking so hard. But now she’s looking back, and the way her eyes are darting from every part of your face (like she’s studying you; like she hadn’t seen any of it quite this close before) can’t help but make you lean a bit closer. She does too, and by now her neck is tilting the slightest bit upwards to keep her dark eyes on yours.

She’s coy and cute, and her fingers lace with yours before she’s kissing you with a timid eagerness. Her lips taste a little like strawberry, and maybe now you realize what happened to that chapstick you let her borrow some weeks ago. It matched her well. Her moves were shy and strained, lingering on your lips for a while with her eyes clamped shut like you were a sour taste in her mouth. When you pull away she follows you blindly, subtly advancing to where you once were before blinking and pulling away. Her smile is small but her eyes tell you everything: they’re big and doe-eyed and she couldn’t look any cuter than in this moment. You want to kiss her again - and after that, too.

She squeezes your hand and nods, and you can’t help but feel a little awkward when she blurts out a quiet ‘that was good’.

You hum, and you want to pull her closer. To walk back to the cabins and watch the stars with her hand in yours - and maybe, if you were lucky, kiss her a few more times just before the trail ended.

You watched the flames dance against her earrings: the orange shifting with her gold in an almost-hypnotic swirl, and you realize that for almost this entire night you’ve only been looking at Kaitlyn. Just different parts of the same picture. Like her lips, or her cheeks or that little sparkle in her eye because now she’s caught you staring again. She smiles. You smile back, and she leans into you and now suddenly she’s the closest she’s ever been without her lips on yours.

“… I’m really gonna miss you.”

The Quarry post-game head-canons (all playable characters live)

This will mostly be who kept in contact, how/why, and coping

They still can’t go home after that terrible night, now they have police questioning. They have to stay in the hotel for as long as questioning takes and end up bonding more

If they need to share rooms in the hotel, which would honestly be better because they probably wouldn’t handle being alone well, Ryan would room with Dylan and would catch him late at night staring at where his hand once was. This would lead to late night conversations and comfort

Laura and Max stay together and their relationship isn’t effected to the point of breakup, but both get a little more clingy. They couldn’t see each other for basically two months even if they could still talk, they don’t want to lose each other again

This group went through so much shit together and even if they want to forget everything, they can’t, they are bonded and they need each other to get through this. No one else would believe them

Laura makes sure to get everyone’s number or Insta so she can make a group chat, or at the very least check in on them. She doesn’t really know these people, but she knows what they went through and she does not want them to feel alone

No one talks in the group chat that much at first. At least not about what happened. But they eventually start talking pretty frequently and becoming friends again. Max never met any of them but he’s welcomed into the group very quickly

Most of them don’t talk at all about the situation, Kaitlyn, Abi, Jacob, and Dylan shut down for a few weeks. Kaitlyn and Dylan call each other when they need someone to talk to about everything. Emma talks about everything with Abi and is there for her when she needs her. Jacob doesn’t know who to talk to, but Kaitlyn, Nick, Laura and surprisingly Emma want him to know that they are there for him.

Nick and Abi still have feelings for each other, but nick feels too much guilt and Abi, even though she know why Nick was acting that way, doesn’t feel that comfortable around him anymore. She wants to, but he scared her. They form a friendship again eventually but a relationship would take much longer

Emma actually begins to take an interest in the bizarre yet bonafide podcast while Ryan can’t bring himself to listen to it anymore, she messages him about the podcast and they both agree to turn in the evidence for that episode

Emma gets morbidly into horror and true crime media, not just bizarre yet bonafide. After experiencing what she went through, she wants to know what else is out there.

Abi copes with vent drawing. Sometimes it makes things worse, but it’s much harder to talk about the situation. She makes a few posts on her art Instagram about her camp sketches and eventually makes a post of a sketch of the werewolves, it worries her friends but her followers just think it’s a cool design

Through the group chat they all stay in contact, but Dylan talks the most often with Kaitlyn and Ryan. Kaitlyn and Dylan become very close and end up becoming like genuine best friends. Dylan and Ryan also become very close and slowly develop a relationship

Ryan isn’t good with words, he’s much better at showing affection psychically, so once he and Dylan start actually dating he’ll often kiss his remaining hand when he’s struggling or talking about the loss of his left hand. Also yes I’ve already posted about this but RadioHeads forehead kisses <33

Kaitlyn says she doesn’t want to keep in contact with anyone after what happened, but actually really appreciates Dylan giving her his number in case she needs something. Dylan plays it as joke flirty with her (“since we missed out shot with Ryan..”) but she knows he’s joking and is doing so to avoid an emotional “I’ll actually really miss you/I’m glad we met/thank you for saving me” conversation. Dylan is the first person Kaitlyn calls whenever she’s having flashbacks or nightmares of what happened, or is just overall needing someone to talk to about everything, same goes for Dylan (I wish I had talent I would genuinely love to read fanfic of this duo post game)

As a group they agree to meet up like once a month. They do this to track progress and see how everyone is coping, but naturally they end up becoming friends again. Not all of them can psychically meet up with each other, so most of the times they FaceTime

Everyone is a little distance after what happened, not just to each other but to everyone around them, but the group slowly starts to form again, they went through hell together and as I said before, there’s no way they would just never talk again after everything

as of now, i have ample of motivation to write and update my stories. but i've been facing a bunch of eye and stress-related problems due to my screentime and i've been trying to reduce that. i also have this neck pain coming and going so that's causing a bit of problem as well. trust me, i very much want to update, but i cannot believe i'm having physical problems (which, quite frankly speaking, has never happened to me before unless i end up doing weird shit playing basketball) so i am sincerely sorry for the delay in updates, especially for yours, my heart.

A/N: It’s time for Kaitlyn’s annual self-indulgent birthday fic! It’s not CS—not remotely—but I had a desire to see Killian x Lacey, and realized that I couldn’t do it within canon. So here’s some AU that’s bound to piss people off but I enjoy it so don’t come at me. Hope some of you like it, too!

Ian Jones didn’t bother to lock the door of his office as he left it. If anyone really wanted to mess with the harbormaster’s files and ancient PC, they were welcome to it. Besides, this was Storybrooke; he’d be so lucky if something that exciting happened. 

(Besides—the real valuables were hidden...offshore, so to speak. His extracurricular activities were not necessarily above board but the only thing that made his mundane existence bearable. Just don’t tell the new sheriff that.)

Anyways. He left the docks, taking the familiar side streets and alleys that led to the Rabbit Hole. It was a Monday, so it’d be quiet there—well, save for the regulars, like himself. He wasn’t sure exactly when it became tradition to end a shift with a celebratory drink, and some might find flaw with the frequency in which he stopped into the watering hole, but those people thankfully kept their opinions to themselves.

No one spared a glance when he entered the dimly-lit dive, and no one ever did. He slid onto his usual stool at the bar and ordered his usual rum, then settled in for a usual night of drinking and casual, empty conversation.

(He never said his nights here were fulfilling; perhaps they were as banal as his days. But he liked it well enough to not seek out a change. He was familiar with the stir of restlessness, but it wasn’t telling him to do anything—yet.)

He glanced around the half-empty bar; billiards tables took up one side of the large space, where a couple dusty miners were making bets that everyone knew they wouldn’t honor; a couple was attempting to have a private rendezvous in one dark corner, oblivious to the fact that they were actually on full display; and a fight was about to break out at the jukebox over whether they should play Van Halen or Guns N Roses, if his hearing was right.

Actually, that caught his attention; bar fights didn’t happen often but were always entertaining. But more importantly, he’d never before seen this dark-haired lass, who was trying to take on a much-larger man. 

It wasn’t often strangers showed up in town, so anyone new was a break in the monotony. (That included the new sheriff, though he hadn’t had occasion to meet her yet...and he was rather hoping to hold off on that encounter as long as possible given his less-than-legal side hustle.)

And, though this (rather attractive) woman seemed capable of holding her own in a fight, neither party was the most sober and her foe was easily twice her size. Ian was nothing if not a gentleman (when he felt like it), and it’d be bad form to let her lose this battle, as she was sure to do—she wasn’t as steady on her stilettos as she thought she was.

He strode over as casually as he could and told the man to, “Leave the lady alone.” 

The brute was nearly bent over, trying to get into the woman’s face, but rose to his full height at Ian’s arrival. “Or what?” he sneered, then shoved Ian’s shoulder—specifically the left one, the arm of which quite obviously ended in a prosthetic hook.

Ian was well aware of his lack of appendage, and if there was one thing he hated, it was when others tried to use it against him. “Well,” he snarled, but rather than finish his sentence, swung back and clocked the man with his right fist. The asshole fell against the jukebox head-first, then slid to the floor, knocked out cold. 

The bar had gone silent at the scene, but a few moments later, the opening strains of “Runin’ With The Devil” began, and the hum of conversation resumed. One of the guy’s friends came to tend to him, but Ian had already turned around, headed back to his stool to finish his drink (and hopefully get some ice for his aching knuckles).

“Wait,” the lass said, reaching out for his forearm. “You’re just gonna walk away without letting me say thank you?”

He turned around and she was grinning up at him—a wide thing, slightly inebriated, but genuine, and he couldn’t help but return it. He even went so far as to bow slightly, replying “At your service, ma’am.”

Adorably, she snickered at him. “I don’t think anyone has ever called me ‘ma’am’ and meant it,” she joked. “It’s usually ‘miss’ or ‘hey you, stop that’.” He couldn’t exactly place her accent—Australian, maybe? There were a handful of foreign ones floating around town, his own included. But he liked it.

He also liked the way her skin-tight skirt clung to her hips, and the way her black bra was visible through the gauzy blue blouse that brought out the color of her eyes. He might have a chivalrous side, but he could just as easily be a scoundrel.

A fact she’d picked up on, if the smirk he found on her lips after his blatant perusal of her form was anything to go by. But he’d noticed her eyes heading south as well, more than once.

“So, does my handsome hero have a name?” she asked, shifting ever so slightly closer.

“Ian,” he replied; he had a feeling that last names weren’t needed for this encounter. 

“Lacey,” she said back, and offered her hand. He took hers gently and lifted it to his lips, placing a kiss on the back of it. An apt name, he thought; it matched her bra. “Can I buy you a drink?” she offered.

“If the lady insists,” he shrugged, and they wordlessly headed to the bar.

One drink quickly became a few, the alcohol loosening their tongues—and their inhibitions. Later on, he could hardly remember what was discussed, and was only surprised to discover that they’d both been in town as long as either could remember and just somehow hadn’t had a chance to meet. A pity, that.

Because she was a divine kisser.

He wasn’t even sure how it had started; they were just suddenly too close—her lips looking far too delectable—and he needed to taste them. They were rum-soaked but sweet, whatever drug-store chapstick she wore getting lost in the shuffle of their lips. 

When their hands began to wander, someone told them they needed to take their activities elsewhere, so they stumbled out into the chill night—but didn’t go much farther than the side of the building. They weren’t the first to engage in traditionally horizontal activities on the vertical brick surface, and likely wouldn’t be the last. 

He pressed her against the edifice, quickly finding her lips again and cupping her pert rear with his hand, settling his hook at her waist. Her hands slipped under his leather jacket to grip his hips, though one eventually drifted up to his chest; her palm felt like fire through the thin cotton of his tshirt. 

She started to wobble—no thanks to her impractical footwear—so he slid his hand down her thigh and pulled her leg around him, letting her feel the evidence of his arousal. She groaned into his mouth and arched her hips against his, making him bite back his own cry of want.

“Can I?” she breathed, one hand on the button of his jeans. 

“Please,” he practically begged. 

She made quick work of the fly, and her own situation was easy to deal with. It wasn’t elegant—one might even call it quick and dirty—but they soon found release then and there, under the flickering streetlight outside the bar. 

As quickly as they’d come undone, they righted themselves—but he was enjoying himself too much to leave it at that.

“Y’know, my place is just a block away,” she said softly, but desire was dripping from the simple statement.

“Lead the way, love,” he replied—and oh, he loved to watch her lead.

Months later—after the curse was broken, after Killian had finally met and inevitably fallen head over heels for the blonde sheriff who absolutely upended everything in his life—did he finally realize that his lover-turned-friend (with benefits) was actually in love with his mortal enemy.

Yet another thing he could hold over the Crocodile’s head, he supposed: he knew how to make Belle come.

he found a recipe book and decided to try cooking something that wasn’t almond tofu for you. he decided on making a simple soup for you, something healthy. after putting in what seemed like random ingredients to the poor adeptus, he tasted the soup soon after. he couldn’t even tell if it tasted good or not, so he decided to take the chance and give it to you.

the whole inn and ver goldet was talking about how worried xiao was, pacing around the inn and crossing his arms more than usual. “hey..” said xiao softly as he walked into your room. “hi,” you said with a weak smile. xiao sat himself on your bed and raised the spoon to your mouth. you tasted the soup, and to xiao’s surprise, it was good! you jumped out of bed fast, maybe a little too fast.. the sudden jump caused to fall over, but xiao caught you in time.

both of your faces stunned, coated with blush, he carefully placed you back on the ground. “please don’t get up so fast, it’s not good for you.” he said quietly while pushing a strand of hair behind your ear. “sorry xiao..” you said while staring at the ground. cute. he thought to himself. “hey xiao, can i ask you something?” you said while you stared at the floor. “hm?” “i’m cold, can we cuddle?” you said while looking at his beautiful facial features.

his face turned red. “o-oh. sleep if you want, i’ll stay by your side until you awaken.” he said while turning his face away from you, avoiding your gaze. you pulled him on his arm and he got into the bed with you. though he is an adeptus and doesn’t need to sleep, he acts like he’s going to sleep, for your sake of course. his arms rested awkwardly around your torso, as soon as you wrapped your arms around him, he loosened up and melted into your embrace :’). “sleep well,” he said as you nuzzled your head into his chest.

My confusion about the timeline is Annie's change of age. Season 1 she's 28 - considering Sadie/Ben is 11 and that they had the baby at 17. Even if she was nearly 18 at the time of Sadie's birth it would make her 29 (at the most) then in season 3 she's all of a sudden 33 and in her Jesus year. Am I getting this wrong? Beth's children don't seem to age much either.I also am curious as to how their criminal enterprises are worth it. How much money are they really making?

Hi Anon! Thank you so much for sending me this message! (I’m a nerd that loves math, so if anyone else has any questions please send me them!) I’ll make the post about the ages here. And I’ll post about the Crime Money in three parts in separate post over the coming week.  Annie and Ben’s Ages You’re right on all accounts, really. We do know Greg and Annie were 17 when they decided on the rules around custody around Ben/Sadie, Greg says it when they’re having the conversation in F&F. And we also know Ben/Sadie ’s 11 in season 1 because Annie says it out loud. So in season 1, yes that all is canon. But both Annie and Ben fell victim to the age shuffle that happened when the show started to determine the characters ages and background a little more in Season 2. I think what also came into play is Isaiah Stannard, the actor who plays Ben, doesn’t really look as young as they wrote Ben to be. He’ll be turning 16 this year, but on the show Ben would still be 13 – which I feel like they wouldn’t be able to really sell. But even if they only made him one or two years older, that would make Annie at the youngest fifteen when she had him. And while I think Annie would encounter similar struggles as an even younger mom, I think her and Greg’s story would have played out vastly different. I can imagine Greg’s parents taking full custody of Ben, and I can imagine it would probably expose how dire the Marks’ household is (whatever it is, we don’t really know) changing course on Beth’s story as well. Aging Annie up to 33 plays well into the existing story, not changing anything that happened up ‘till now. I feel like making her older makes her storylines in S3 even more believable. I mean, it’s a cliché, but nothing like throwing your life around when you reach early thirties. And even though it probably petrifies her, Ben’s not going to be around forever, he’s going to college in three years and then Annie has to take care of herself. This enhanced pressure makes it more compelling to me to see her struggle to give Ben that freedom of her not needing him to get through daily life. And her being older makes is sadder that she struggles so much to succeed, makes her childish behavior even more ridiculous, but makes you want her to get her GED even more because it feels even more like a last-chance opportunity. In short: Your math isn’t wrong, but the show aged them both up. The Boland Kids It’s no secret that they did a big recast between Season 1 and Season 2 for the kids. Back in the early days Braxton Bjerken (then 11, now 14) played Kenny (11), Mila Middleswarth played Jane Boland, Sutton Johnston played Danny Boland, and Kaitlyn Oechsle played Emma Boland. While I can’t find the exact ages of the actors (or it’s very ambiguous) I feel like this is the order they were born, judging by their appearances. In the second and third season only Braxton (14) kept playing Kenny, and his siblings were replaced by Mason Shea Joyce (10) for Danny, Scarlett Abinante (9) for Emma, and Everleigh McDonell (8) for Jane. Kenny’s birthday is in October, maybe early November, making him 12.5 at the end of Season 3. The other kids we don’t know their ages, but I think Danny is around 10, Emma’s around 8, and Jane’s 7. It’s not that odd that they don’t seem to age that much, considering most of them are still 10 or younger, we’ve only known most of Beth’s current kids since Season 2 and I also feel like they’re well-cast. And keep in mind that not that much time has passed between the beginning of the first season and the end of the last season, it’s only been about 18 months.

Family Headcanons/History

Wes is named after Westley from The Princess Bride, a favorite movie of both of his parents. He hates his full name though, and would much rather you called him Wes. 

Ty is the son of an on-and-off again boyfriend of Claudia’s, Kyle. It took a long time for both Katy and Wes to warm up to him, but then they did. They’re currently ‘off’ though, and Ty doesn’t get to see a lot of his dad since he lives in Tacoma.

Claudia and Steve met in college and were together ever since. She became pregnant with Wes while still in college, and despite all her friends’ advice, decided to keep him. A 3 month old Wes can be seen in her college graduation photos.

Steve was attacked one night while coming home from work and killed by a blood cult vampire. It rattled the entire family, leading Claudia to alcoholism and Katy and Wes to becoming emotionally numb.

Claudia put both of her kids in therapy but Wes was particularly unresponsive to it. She took him to a shooting range though and he greatly enjoyed that, and learning to shoot became his therapy. 

Unbeknownst to Claudia Wes was also learning independently all the manner of ways to kill and dispatch vampires. He swore to make sure not to let what happened to his Dad happen to anyone in his family, or anyone around him, again. 

They moved to Barton Hollow because Wes thought it would be safer a place to live in away from vampires and other creatures, than Tacoma. So far it’s proven to be the case, but he isn’t naive and knows danger could lurk at every turn.

Two very different films

“The Peanut Butter Falcon” (in theaters Aug. 23, 2019; rated PG-13; directed by Tyler Nilson and Michael Schwartz; run time 1 hours, 33 minutes) is a modern-day Huck Finn adventure story that is tender and heartwarming without being squeaky clean or oversentimental. It is the story of Zak (newcomer Zack Gottsagen), a young man who has Down syndrome and lives in a nursing home because he has no family and no way to support himself. He spends his days watching an old video tape about a professional wrestling school with elderly roommate Carl (Bruce Dern). But he longs to escape and travel to the school to become a pro wrestler. With Carl’s help, he squeezes through some bars on his nursing home window (having been deemed a flight risk) and sets off on his adventure, but with no plan and while wearing only his underwear. He hides in a boat owned by down-on-his-luck crab fisherman Tyler (an outstanding Shia LaBeouf), and when Tyler flees after setting fire to a rival’s gear, Zak and Tyler are fugitives. Tyler at first is reluctant to have a tagalong, but he and Zak bond, and both, despite being on the run through coastal North Carolina, determine they are the good guys. Tyler decides to help Zak get to the wrestling school. But both have people looking for them – the bad guys (John Hawkes as Tyler’s rival and rapper Yelawolf as his muscle) want what Tyler owes them; and Eleanor (Dakota Johnson), who was responsible for Zak at the nursing home and is charged with bringing him back. The pursuers catch up with Tyler and Zak, but that doesn’t mean their adventure is over. LaBeouf and Gottsagen (who has Down syndrome in real life) have great chemistry, and it is a joy to watch them bond. Tyler has myriad problems and is haunted by the death of his brother (a death he was responsible for), but he has a big heart, even when his methods are questionable. Gottsagen is fun to watch and root for. “The Peanut Butter Falcon” is not perfect or even great. The plot, by first-time feature filmmakers Tyler Nilson and Michael Schwartz, is a bit contrived and predictable, and even a touch manipulative with its ending. Johnson’s character is mostly here as Tyler’s love interest (she is a widow, but unlike with Tyler, her sad story is never explained) and to serve as a yin to Tyler’s yang. The third act gets a bit messy but does include nice performances by Thomas Haden Church (as wrestler the Salt Water Redneck) and real-life wrestler Jake “The Snake” Roberts as Zak’s unsympathetic opponent in the ring. “The Peanut Butter Falcon” is a fun ride that is a touching reminder of what can happen when people, despite obstacles, pursue the life they dream of. Rating: 89 out of 100.

“Booksmart” (on disc/streaming Aug. 20, 2019; rated R; directed by Olivia Wilde; run time 1 hours, 45 minutes) is a movie I hoped to approach objectively but just couldn’t pull it off. And apparently a lot of people couldn’t pull that off. “Booksmart” is one of those polarizing films that seems to have been designed to be polarizing, and as such, opinions on it vary wildly (from Oscar contender to total waste of time), generally depending on your age, politics, sex (or gender identification), maybe even race. “Booksmart” is a raunchy comedy about graduating high school seniors Amy (Kaitlyn Dever) and Molly (Beanie Feldstein). Both decided to focus on their studies and bypass partying throughout their teen years. But then, with graduation a day away, Molly, the class valedictorian, realizes that nearly every student in her school (which apparently serves children of the privileged) is going to Stanford or an Ivy League school. Molly decides that she and Amy need to go out with a bang, so they spend the evening trying to find the biggest graduation bash. If this sounds familiar, it is, and “Booksmart” has most often been compared to “Superbad,” the twist being, of course, that it is about teen girls instead of teen boys and, of particular importance these days, one of the girls (Amy) is a lesbian. The comparisons – not exactly embraced by director Olivia Wilde -- also are fueled by the fact that Feldstein is the sister of “Superbad” star Jonah Hill, and her performance here at times seems like an imitation of her brother. “Booksmart” doesn’t hit its stride until Amy and Molly reach the party (the first part of the movie seems like a test to see how much the audience can tolerate annoying high school students), which also happens to be the time the movie turns more dramatic and even tender. Both girls pursue their crushes at the party, with unexpected results that jeopardizes their friendship. The best scene in the film is when a heartbroken Amy hooks up with the school’s bad girl, Hope (Diana Silvers), in a bathroom at the party. This beautiful but realistically awkward moment is reminiscent (in more ways than one) of when a drunken Evan (Michael Cera) and Becca (Martha MacIsaac) try to get it on at their party in “Superbad.” “Booksmart” did well for an R-rated comedy (about $24 million at the box office), but that’s about 20 percent of what “Superbad” made, and the difference has been blamed on everything from the films’ comparisons to sexism in Hollywood. “Booksmart” bends over backward to be inclusive in a 2019 sort of way, but that inclusiveness does not include men (which are portrayed as mostly clueless here). When the start of Molly’s graduation speech is read by one of her male classmates (Molly and Amy are late to the ceremony), he reads, “Straight white males, your time is over.” It nicely sums up the movie’s attitude, which is cause for celebration for feminist SJWs (how did they forget the biggest insult of all, “old?”) but doesn’t necessarily make for a good movie. Not that this straight (old) white male is being objective. And my opinion apparently might not be relevant. Rating: 48 out of 100.

Maya regrets that once she turned 14 she got so involved with other stuff (like her writing and art clubs and hanging out with her friends) that she spent less and less time with her dad even when he wanted to spend time with her like they used to do with their father daughter fishing trips or lunch outings, and then he passed away when she was 16

“A bunch of great fights, two titles on the line and tough questions need answering” UFC 238 Preview

The UFC is back on PPV (I guess we're still calling it that) with what is genuinely a pretty great card with some serious long term ramifications across every level of the show. It's also a tough sell seemingly which is frustrating and disheartening. The headline acts are really a trio of fights; a main event to crown a new bantamweight champion with Flyweight champ Henry Cejudo vs Marlon Moraes, the women's flyweight title is defended in the co-main event with Jessica Eye trying to pretty much salvage this division with an upset over the dominant yet insanely dull Valentina Shevchenko and then the unofficial main event between Donald Cerrone and Tony Ferguson that was thrown together to "bulk up" the show. It's a great trio of fights backed by some damn good shit at bantamweight plus some women's fights that sorta fill in the blanks AND one big boy fight with Tai Tuivasa trying to get his career back on track vs Blagoy Ivanov. I'm excited for it. Not sure how many other folks are but hey, if yer reading then let's go on this fight journey together!

Twelve Precarious Ponderings

1- What's it say about Cejudo and Moraes that the UFC went to great lengths to put together a last second fight with two big names (relatively speaking) to try and get a few extra eyeballs? Draws are always about the top two fights (and really about the #1 fight at the top of the bill) but this feels like when McGregor snuck onto the UFC 128 card to try and lend his name to Mighty Mouse's title run. It's....a weird booking. It's an acknowledgment that your title fight isn't working but what's truly strange is there's no reason a fight like this shouldn't work. Marlon Moraes has been a dominant bantamweight who just avenged his only UFC loss in dramatic fashion. Henry Cejudo upset the GOAT and then upset the bantamweight champion who came down to his division to take his title. How is that fight not attractive or appealing? The bantamweight division was rolled into the UFC at the end of 2011. Are you TRULY meaning to tell me that eight years into this and a great bantamweight fight still can't carry the marque on its own? It's strange. Perplexing even. I can get that Shevchenko vs Eye is a dud of sorts but that title fight on its own should carry. It's a bummer it isn't. This isn't even the first fight the UFC tried to put together in Chicago to help this card either; Lawler/Askren 2 and Masvidal/Askren were both considered to be options until they fell apart. They even thought about McGregor and apparently were trying to put together Gaethje vs Ferguson before Justin Gaethje turned it down ultimately turning into Cerrone vs Ferguson.

2- We're all prone to hyperbole and I'm no different, often going above and beyond the call of duty in the heat of the moment. WITH THAT SAID, where does Henry Cejudo rank all time among combat sports athletes if he is able to add the bantamweight title to his Olympic gold medal and his flyweight belt?

3- Given that Cerrone is fighting less than a month after a crazy five round fight and given that Ferguson has fought once since October of 2017 and had a very publicized personal issue all over the news, what can we realistically draw from this fight no matter what happens in it?

4- If we give up the ghost on Conor ever coming back, the winner of this fight HAS to be the #1 contender right? Ferguson hasn't lost since 2012 and Cerrone would have three high profile wins in a row at 155 lbs.

5- Shevchenko headlines in August if she wins, right? Like they can pull that off in Russia I'm guessing.

6- Is Jessica Eye the most underwhelming title challenger of 2019?

7- I know it's not everybody's cup of tea BUT Blagoy Ivanov vs Tai Tuivasa is a really cool HW fight for me. Tuivasa is coming off his first pro loss and it wasn't the worst L ever; a second round KO loss to JDS where he had his  moments early but just got too excited and/or realized his best chance to win was in making it a wild dirty brawl as opposed to a patient back and forth kickboxing match. He gets a step back in competition but it's not a super big step back since Blagoy Ivanov is a pretty good HW in his own right. I thought Ivanov lost to Rothwell but I'm not a judge and so it goes. Ivanov is just a big gnarly dude who will provide a step up from the Arlovski's and the Akser's of the world but a step backwards from JDS. A good solid HW fight.

8- So who gets next at bantamweight? Is the winner of Sterling vs Munhoz getting the shot?

9- Tatiana Suarez vs Nina Ansaroff is a great fight on paper that I imagine nobody is excited to actually see happen which feels like a fitting aside for Tatiana Suarez as a whole. You can't be Khabib minus the built in Khabib fanbase.

10- Really excited to see Bevon Lewis' return after his first loss. Lewis was beating up on Uriah Hall before Uriah Hall had one of those Uriah Hall-esque moments. Now Lewis is on the comeback trail and hopefully he's sharpened up some of the holes in his game. Darren Stewart is a great test for that and I think Stewart should be riding into this one on a three fight winning streak although again, not a judge and so it goes.

11- Joanne Caldwerood vs Kaitlyn Chookagian going from potential main card fight to Fight Pass prelims (those still exist somehow) says a lot about how the UFC feels about one of them (likely Chookagian).

12- When will Alexa Grasso closely represent the beat she was in Invicta?
