Oarfish is one that he uses often, mostly in a teasing sense. Another is Ropefish, this one is used sparingly, he never told you why though.

The adeptus made it very clear upon their first meeting when he held the blade of his polearm to the poor cecaelia's throat and fixed him with the sharpest glare Azul had ever seen. It would seem that you told him about the whole contract debacle that went down before his overblot and your son wasn't going to forgive him any time soon.

Hello! Can I request headcanons of Leona, Trey and Kalim with a male s/o? The idea is that they've never heard the reader sing before until he randomly joins a karaoke competition in which he sings "Never Enough" from The Greatest Showman flawlessly. How would they each react?

Leona:

At first Leona had absolutely no interest in karaoke, but you seemed pretty excited about it so hed at least listen to you sing. He actually was not expecting you to be able to sing that good, but his herbivore is full of surprises. He liked the song too, thought it was a little relatable, you wont be hearing that from him though. He wont bring it up for a while, but one day while making sure you cant run away during his nap he may ask tell you to hum to him.

Trey:

Trey had never done karaoke before, but Cater had actually been trying to convince him to go. He figured it would be fun and would take his mind off of being the literal mom figure of Heartslaybul. He was really enjoying himself but he did not expect you to suddenly start singing like a professional. His boyfriend can sing like that?!? Oh he is so impressed. Be expecting him to ask you to sing or hum for him while he bakes.

Kalim:

Karaoke? Fun!! Kalim was going to have fun no matter how well you sang, but hearing you sing that good was amazing. He was impressed with you before but now hes like...double impressed. Jamil is not so impressed as the next two weeks will be filled with Kalim chatting his ear off with "my boyfriend can sing so good hes so cool and awesome and-". Kalim will also be asking you to sing a lot, but mostly so he can just sit and stare with a big goofy grin. If you did sing though hed last maybe 3 seconds before getting excited and singing with you.

It may seem like he likes your mother more than you but he's just excited

Heartslaybul students slowly get acclimated to hearing double the voices when that line is spoken

Disclaimer: The characters in this fic are being depicted as college age rather than high school age. I will die on this hill.

Notes: As some of you might have already guessed from the title, I heard a certain song from Splatoon 3 and immediately thought it would fit with one of Kalim’s parades and the rest is history. (Specifically, I was imagining this version of the song/dance)

You love your boyfriend. You really do. And though his fast-approaching birthday should be a good thing, you can't help but feel the pressure building as you ponder what you could possibly get as a gift for him.

For the man who was practically born with everything and anything he didn't have, he could buy without batting an eye.

For Kalim Al-Fucking-Asim.

You spend every waking moment racking your brain on what could be your present. It needs to be something really special, something that only you can provide. You’ve already ruled out any storebought item for the aforementioned reasons. You'd considered something homemade, but you don't have any materials, plus money's tight at the moment and using Kalim’s money to buy the materials would defeat the whole purpose. So perhaps some sort of act or service?

You're busy considering your options when you suddenly overhear Jamil speaking with some other Scarabia students about a special parade in Kalim’s honor and you feel the perfect idea form in response.

"Absolutely not." Jamil says to you as if he had read your mind.

"Wh-- Hold on!" You quickly grab his shoulder as he turns around to leave, "I didn't even say anything yet! How did you even know I was gonna talk to you???"

"I saw you perk up when I mentioned the parade and then you had your thinking face on, which can only lead to bad things." Jamil replies curtly.

You recoil in offense at that statement, "Oh come on! How can you say that when you haven’t even heard my idea?"

"Hmph, I'm sure I can make a pretty good guess, but fine. Tell me your million thaumark idea." Jamil prompts.

Having gotten tentative approval for your idea, you immediately head for Octavinelle to secure a certain eel's cooperation.

You stride into the Mostro Lounge and are almost immediately tackle-hugged by your target yelling "SHRIMPYYYYYY!!!"

"Floyd! Just the guy I wanted to see!" You choke out while having your lungs squeezed tight.

"Did ya hear that, Jade??? Shrimpy wanted to see me!!!" Floyd cheerfully says to his brother as he watches in amusement.

"S-so I've got a proposition f-for you if you'd be so kind as to l-loosen you grip please!" You say as the last of your air leaves your lungs, prompting the eel to let you breathe with a huff.

"Fiiiiine, go on. I'm listening." He says dejectedly.

With your breath returned, you begin making your pitch in a low voice to prevent eavesdropping, "So, as you might know, Kalim’s birthday is coming up and I wanted to do something special for him, right? And I just so happened to overhear Jamil talking about them holding a special parade in his honor."

"Ok? What does that have to do with me?" Floyd replies, clearly losing interest by the second.

"Well, I want you to help me and in doing so, you'll be able to do your favorite thiiiiing!" You say in a sing-song tone of voice.

"I'LL GET TO SQUEEZE PEOPLE?!" He exclaims excitedly before being shushed by you.

"...........Second favorite!" You correct yourself as he looks at you in confusion. You roll your eyes at this and lean over to whisper something into his ear.

Floyd’s eyes go wide and he scoops you up into another crushing hug while agreeing without hesitation.

"Hold on just a minute." Azul's voice cuts off Floyd’s excited cheers, "Prefect, you do realize that you can't just make such deals with an employee right in front of his employer, right?" He says while adjusting his glasses.

You release yourself from the eel's grasp to close in on the silver-haired man with a knowing grin on your face, "Actually, I'm pretty sure I can when said employer still owes me for when I worked that traumatic solo shift a few weeks ago."

Azul's eyes go wide with realization and you hear him say, "Damn you." Under his breath knowing that he can’t refute you.

"That was amazing!!! Why didn't you tell me you can dance like that sooner?!" Kalim says with sparkling eyes looking into yours.

As the years ticked by, you watched your siblings slowly disappear, each being wed off to a different Kingdom, slowly, one by one as they each came of age. As the youngest, this often terrified you. Your coming of age had come slower than your parents had liked. As their youngest, you were the last to be married off, the last of their kin to leave home. He was amazing and you truly did enjoy his presence, you just didn’t see him being your husband, the man you’d spend your only forever with.

You supposed that he wasn’t so bad though, some of your siblings had been stuck with some real nasty folk and you often dreaded that outcome. His cheery nature can be a bit much sometimes but he’d most likely mellow over time, he couldn’t be young forever. You pitied the poor soul who was forced to always be around him, you could never take over the servant's job of tending to Kalim every day for almost all hours.

Standing up, grabbing your mask from where it lay on your vanity as you did, you walked to your door, turning the handle and stepping into the hallway.

The ride there was far shorter than you had hoped it would be, you barely had any time to collect your thoughts before you were ushered out of your carriage and through the large halls. The ball was in full swing by the time you had arrived, fashionably late as some might call it. You didn’t mind though, just meant there would be less time for awkward small talk between you and either Kalim or his family.

Your mask had been secured on your face before you stepped out of your carriage, and yet you still felt completely exposed as you entered the ballroom. Most people were already dancing, enjoying the food and drinks, enjoying their nights, but not Kalim. He and his parents stood at the opposite end of the room, clearly having waited for your arrival. You weren’t ready to face him though, taking the split second that your parents had turned away from you to slip into the crowd of dancers, blending in as best you could.

You seemed to fit right in, following along with everyone else and having a good time. It wasn’t until you were swayed and wrapped up in the arms of another that you were startled from your blissful state. Holding you close, continuing with the movements of the dance, was a tall, horned man. He was one you had encountered before, but never had the full pleasure of speaking with.

If you give him an item from your collection, he'll likely pin it to the side of his full length/vanity mirror or sit it on the desk of his vanity. Though being a prince himself, he’s not as “diplomatic” with the other princes at that school - except for you probably. No don’t ask him what happened, he’s ready to accept it as it is

At least because of your (assumed) status, he finds it easier to communicate with you; at least you’re not one of the top five most powerful mages in the world or the most optimistic person in Twisted Wonderland

Hangouts with him still consist more of silent chilling though; both of you just need to get away from it all for a while

He doesn’t question the days that you’re gone - sometimes people just end up needing you to do this and that. He tries not to dwell on it too much, lest his inferiority complex gets the best of him

Until one day, you come back after one day of absence, which is normal enough until-

“*sigh* I swear, being king is less appealing as my retainers make it sound, especially since I also have to go to school all the while.”

I’m sorry, being what now?

He knew you were royalty, that much he got from everyone whispering about you back when you enrolled and since you made little mention of your background, he just assumed you were a prince like him

You let out a tired chuckle then and comment on how you forgot that you never told him you’re an actual king of a nation

He has mixed feelings over this - he thought he finally met someone a little bit like him, yet you’re just another one of them and you never bothered telling him who you are?

But don’t worry, he gets over his feelings of betrayal after a while; it’s not like the reveal changed who you are as a person. You’re still the same guy who he’s been hanging out with and he knows his brain is trying to defend itself

You apologize for not telling him sooner and despite your complaints, you try not to sound ungrateful, especially considering his issues

At some point, even Leona himself starts to forget about that fact

It doesn’t matter if you carry a whole nation on your shoulders because - and he will never say this out loud - he knows you’re capable and if you start to crumble, he’ll be there for you.

Kalim Al-Asim

Though he’s not one to really care about someone’s social status, he’s happy to have more royal friends

Doesn’t stop him from spoiling you. Haven’t you heard? Any friends of Kalim are also friends of his many, many fortunes

He invites you over to Scarabia for parties every so often and either you are surrounded by people or everyone leaves you alone out of intimidation

But hey, if the latter happens, Kalim is more than happy to help you make some friends (unless you’re uncomfortable with it of course but he’ll still try to help)

One time, at one of his many parties, you two were simply laughing over something and it reminded you of something-

“That makes me think of the time this creature took a shit on my throne back at home - it took a few days for the stench to fade!”

Oh, of course, your throne! Everyone totally has a literal throne back home! Until Kalim realizes that is, in fact, untrue

As if he wasn’t already excited at the prospect of a new friend, he gets more excited at the fact that you have your own throne and is, he concludes, a monarch

You brush him off, light pink decorating your cheeks, saying that it’s not really that special - and you mean it

You tell him of the experience and you couldn’t help slip in a few complaints; it isn’t easy to juggle both school and royal responsibilities at the same time

He only listens in and tries his best to understand; he is no king, and though he is a housewarden and a prince, your struggles differ from his by a long mile

From that day on, he makes sure to check in on you and if you’re feeling less than, he’ll drop everything and do anything to relieve you of your stress

When he drops by your nation and your palace, he brings in a whole parade. It’s so Kalim that you can only laugh

You knew that story about a creature shitting on your throne was gonna be a good story at parties.

Malleus Draconia

Your presence is an absolute delight to him; it didn’t occur to him to ask what kind of royalty you are but it didn’t matter either way

He finds himself more comfortable talking about his heritage around you, knowing that you can somewhat relate to being of nobility

If you’re not part of his club, sometimes you tag along on his gargoyle crusades for the hell of it - seeing him so passionate about something brings a smile to your face

On one of your many escapades, he points out a gargoyle and begins to ramble about its features

Hearing it suddenly makes you remember-

“Ah gosh, I just remembered I should be back home right now, some of my people will be coming over to construct some gargoyles around my castle.”

He doesn’t question it at first but then the phrase “my people” registered in his mind. Wait, what do you mean your people?

You start to apologize for not telling him and also the fact that you have to leave that very moment

After you came back after the whole ordeal, you sit him down somewhere and tell him about your position

As mentioned, it doesn’t matter to him what responsibilities you have, as long as you can be his friend

You breathe out a sigh of relief and invite him to continue where you two left off last time

Nothing changes much between you two, except for the fact that you share more of your kingly experiences

He definitely drops by your place at least once - he could never miss out a chance on seeing some new gargoyles

And as he looks on at those beautiful waterspouts, you can’t help but be grateful that they can serve as a source of happiness for someone too.

After spending so much time with Kalim as a fellow dorm leader he can't say he's not familiar with the ropes

That doesn't mean he knows how to deal with it daily

When he first met you, he kept his distance a tad because he truly felt like there was nothing deeper with you other than partying

After you saved him from his overblot and you both actually spent a little bit of time with each other he discovered he was very wrong

He heavily sympathizes with your sleeping condition and what that could potentially mean for you if you're forced to follow through with your destiny

He also loves how you manage to keep so upbeat in spite of that, it's something he truly admires about you and another thing he can really use in his life

That doesn't mean you don't give him gray hairs from time to time since you've now made the ADeuce duo into a trio

He's tired please let him rest

Speaking of rest, he's become very vigilant on any time you may be starting to doze off

He makes sure the dorm students always have something handy to ensure a comfortable rest for you

It's probably a rule to not disturb any sleeping party and anyone who does is immediately collared

He may have gotten character development but he's willing to pretend he didn't from time to time if it's for your happiness

You are always happily available to help decorate for unbirthday parties since 1. parties are obviously your specialty, and 2. you wouldn't miss a chance to add a little Briar touch to it

Trey greatly appreciates your help with this and because of that you two have become good friends

You and Cater bond over Magicam but also always appearing to others as sort of a mask for your true self. Everyone sees you as a party guy and everyone sees him as a 24/7 happy guy with a chronic dependency on Magicam

You get along with everyone from that dorm and Riddle loves that and loves you

This is a surprisingly good match

You may stick out in his dorm like a sore thumb but he gets along with you like he does with Vil

He relentlessly teases you as his communication of affection (he does it to Vil for entertainment, he does it to you because of a crush)

The only difference is that you would probably tease him back

It's like a competition at this point

He discovers your sleeping condition on the very few times he's awake and you both are having a conversation at lunch

He turns his head away for a second and BOOM, face down in your food

At first he thinks it's like a joke or something

He tries to get you up but it obviously doesn't work, he doesn't entirely understand what's happening until the ADeuce duo explain it to him

He has you talk to him about it more in depth later, about your family line, the curse, your destiny, all of it

This makes him kinda feel bad

He takes advantage of his opportunities both in school and his relationships by sleeping since he knows he can't really be punished for it

but for you sleeping is quite literally a curse that's keeping you from everything you want to do, and will eventually be the reason you lose everything you love

Because of this it not only makes him determined to be better about his lazy habits but also to make sure you don't go back to your world

he won't keep you if you really wanna go back but he couldn't stand to lose you to some dumb destiny that you have no say in, he relates all too well to that feeling

That doesn't mean he doesn't use your random sleeping spells as an excuse to fall asleep himself

Lots and lots of snuggles

Like Riddle he's very good at telling when you're about to fall asleep but since his senses are so sharpened it kind of just comes naturally to him

If you're standing next to him he doesn't even have to look at you to know you're about to doze off and fall down in the process

he catches you every time without even a glance

To be honest there's not a lot about you both that would fit in immediately

I think it's mostly your opposite personalities that kind of get you together

He knows about your condition through the tweels

How they know? Who knows.

Fun fact: you can actually hear for miles while you're sleeping (yes this is canon)

So he would probably try to make you a deal for this super hearing minus the sleeping thing

But you're somewhat perceptive when you want to be so signing any sort of contract is just out of the deal

After his overblot you teach him to love the parts of himself that he doesn't even if it may be hard

You're very good at learning how to deal with insecurities in yourself and with others which helps when giving advice

You're always begging him to let you host a party at the Monstro Lounge

If you can prove trustworthy with it he'll let you

Eventually he sees this as a marketing opportunity and will subtly encourage you to host more parties there with the staff as a catering service

You both make bank off of this and he takes you shopping so he can see you happy

Also an opportunity to get matching clothes

When he learns of your destiny this makes him greatly upset

he doesn't want the most crucial parts of your life to be taken away from you because of something as idiotic as a destiny

He would try to use his UM on you to either make you stay in Twisted Wonderland or to take this curse away from you

Whether or not you make the deal is up to you

🥳Kalim Al-Asim🥳

You two get along too well it's scary

Like actually how

He definitely became more aware of your condition after a party

You had been invited to one of his many parties which you attended of course and after a long night of dancing and food you just crashed

At first he thought it was because the party tired you out but became worried when his efforts to wake you up in the morning didn't work

he sought out Ace and Deuce hoping maybe they could wake you up, which they did by blasting music, but before that they told him about your sleeping habits

He felt so bad, after all he couldn't imagine sleeping for years with no way to spend time with his friends

This makes him want to throw even more parties so you can spend as much time with everyone as possible

You both use this reason to guilt Jamil into letting you throw parties

He doesn't like that but he does enjoy when you use parties as a form of tutoring

It keeps Kalim entertained and leaves Jamil with plenty of free-time

Because of this Jamil has mixed feelings about you but appreciates when you help him out nonetheless

One of the many kinds of parties thrown at Scarabia is obviously slumber parties

Kalim will always without fail initiate a pillow fight

You two share a beanbag on these occasions

🦚Vil Schoenheit🦚

You like both gossip and fashion, so you're basically already Vil's type of person

You probably fell asleep while he was doing your makeup

He tried to wake you up for a while but after he discovered he couldn't he just finished your makeup and asked Rook what that was about since he has tabs on everyone in school

Rook is the one to bestow the knowledge of your sleeping condition on Vil

He would probably try to get more information out of you the next time you two hang out together

If you tell him about the destiny you had back in your old world he would be very disappointed

he sees so much potential in you in so many ways and knowing that one day that and everything else will have to be taken from you because of some stupid curse is just so sad (alexa play despacito-)

This makes him determined to pack in as many activities and such with you as possible

This includes a lot of fashion shows and photoshoots as well as just regular things for you both to do together

He appreciates your upbeat energy but the type of parties you throw are not often for him

Though he'll sometimes go anyways to make sure you don't do something stupid or fall asleep in a bad place

Speaking of sleep, if he can't ensure you have a proper sleep schedule, he'll at least make sure you'll have a proper sleep

there's basically a drill in Pomefiore anytime you fall asleep to get you to the nearest comfortable surface with only the best pillows and blankets

During one of said drills Epel would probably get a sharpie and draw something stupid all over your face

If Vil sees he'll quietly scold Epel while wiping it off of your face in your sleep

If you find out before Vil, you and Epel would probably laugh and set up an elaborate prank to do it to Vil when he's asleep then probably blame Rook or something

you and Epel would be very chaotic together but Vil still loves you

He loves you so much that I have no doubt he would secretly be trying to find a formula for a potion that can rid you of this curse forever

As a token extrovert your job is obviously to adopt all the local introverts

And the top of your list is definitely Idia

Just like Kalim you would be someone he tends to avoid because of your hyperactive attitude, but also like Kalim you don't let that happen

You obviously are aware of and respect his boundaries, but you definitely encourage him to spend time with you

Not necessarily in a group setting just together playing games or having a spa day or something

He prefers this to always spending his time in his room

He likes his games and shows but it gets lonely fast when you don't have someone to share things with in person

His outward reaction to your destiny is probably something equivalent to "That's rough buddy"

But internally he's losing it

You're one of the few people that gave him the attention and love he craved but now you'll have to be taken away from him because of something your mother was cursed with and a book?

To add even more salt to the wound, he came to a school of magic but curses and such aren't his area of expertise so he can't really do much to help you in the long run

just like the others he would definitely want to do as many things with you as possible before your time together runs out

One time you threw him one of those parties where everyone gets together and plays different kinds of video games

He hates parties but that's the one time where someone has taken into account his interests when hosting one

he was incredibly happy

the more that you build his self-esteem up, I think the more confident he would be to try and convince either Vil or Malleus to help him lift the curse on you

he'd be close to pissing himself the whole time but he can't risk a life without you

Oh wow you're cursed to prick your finger on a spinning wheel and sleep for 100 years that sounds vaguely familiar

When he hears your name and what your destiny is he would probably think it's fate that you two met

He always says that since your name is Briar you were basically fated to become the second king of Briar Valley

You think he's joking, he is not

He's very aware of what one should do in the case of surprise sleeping spells (he basically raised Silver with Lilia he knows what he's doing)

but I feel like yours requires different protocols since yours is more of a surprise since you just randomly doze off whenever, and because it's much harder to get you back up

When you fall asleep he'll usually just wait it out but it makes his mind wander to sad places

Knowing of your destiny he tries to be cool about it but deep down he's very angry

Not at you of course but at the hand you've been given in life

He didn't always have such a great life, he was brought up very lonely, but you made these school years so full of joy for him that he couldn't bear to lose you especially not in a way that so much resembles what he will grow up to be

He knows that one day you'll potentially have to sleep for 100 years, meaning malleus won't be able to see you, his closest friend and lover, for 100 years except behind a glass coffin

When you wake up he always tell you "I would be willing to wait 100 years or more if that means I can see you again"

If you didn't he would probably be because he managed to life the curse from you
