y’know i appreciate whoever threw this obvious fake leak together for putting Lady, Kabuto’s stage show exclusive female Rider in there instead of going with Sasword or someone equally normal. a bit strange using (who I assume is) Leangle for the 6th ranger when the rest of the silhouettes are of Kabuto Riders, but I do like the willingness to pull from more than one source.

Woke up this morning thinking about how most of the Riders in Kabuto are introduced as if they're Tendou's new rival but quickly fall into his narrative gravity and just sorta orbit around him sequestered in their own corners because they're competing for the same spot and the path of heaven is narrow

EXCEPT when the Hoppers becomes the Hoppers and they don't even care about him anymore because they're seeking the exact opposite (Hell) and they fully escape that tension and gravity. They're almost able to escape Kabuto itself, they've got it figured out

(Similarly, Kagami goes through the same cycle from trying to use Kabuto, then TheBee, which have established types, until getting his moment by continuing to try and be the very different kind of hero of his own story to the kind of hero this show actually has. The HBV of all things is entirely about this)

It's not that Tendou /is/ The Best Guy, he's just more himself than anyone else in the world has ever been themself, and you can't be the most you by trying to be someone else, you have to be you

In other words:

Kamen Rider Kabuto is the only show ever maybe

Athena Cykes as Kamen Rider A-Bée!

Where Apollo's suit was based on Kamen Rider Zero-One, Athena's is inspired by Kamen Rider Zero-Two and Kamen Rider TheBee. I really like the idea of her using Widget as part of her Henshin, having to insert it into her Sunrise Driver.

Her suit was a lot easier to design than Trucy or Kristoph, I'll tell you that!

"CAST OFF! CHANGE MANTIS" So Ive got into Kabuto and had burning need of making a Kabuto rider so here we are with cold and distanced Kama Nukegara aka Kamen Rider Makiri.

Main idea for her design was just me going after stealth theme and excuse to use one of my favourite bugs. Plus TheBee has wrist stinger so why not make wrist blade? Her civilian fit is loose reference to the first Mantis rider- Riderman.

WormWatch 2022

We've watched up to episode 10, completing the TheBee arc. Wow, what a fantastic arc. Really crystallized so much about the themes of the show and Kagami's character. I hope Kagami serially dates several zecters.

Hiyori is pretty much confirmed as a Worm, quelle surprise, unless humans can magically repair technology by touching it. Could there be a connection between the bug-themed villains and the mysterious bug-themed magitech that provides the heroes with their powers, in this, a Kamen Rider series?

Kagami has dropped down the WormWatch leaderboards because the show just gave us a (very compelling, imo) fantasy metaphor for his identity issues, so him being a Worm could still be good but has less to add to the narrative.

I go back and forth constantly on Worm Tendou... at the moment, I think what we saw in Hiyori's flashback makes more sense if he's human.

Top three... hmmm. Let's say...

Kagami's dad for basically the same reasons as Zect guy. I don't know if I think they'd both be Worms though.
