Pairing: Kang Younghyun (Day6) x GN!Reader; Genre: Roommate AU, enemies to lovers, a little angst, romance, fluff; Rating: sfw, pg-15; Warnings: a broken cup, yelling and a fight, clumsy reader, blood, crying and kisses; Wordcount: 1.379
Summary: Younghyun had enough of your clumsy ass. Not that he had something against you being clumsy. But you just leaving your mess behind for him to stumble over drove him up the walls. It was time to confront you.
A/N: This is another written deal for @daemour ! Actually kinda the first deal we made... and yet it’s the third I finished writing.. or is it the third? I don’t know.
Tumblr media
Younghyun stood in front of the sink, staring down at the broken cup in it. He sighed deeply and placed his hands on the counter, leaning against it as his head hung low. By now Younghyun had lost count of how many broken things he had found in the shared apartment over the time he lived with you.
“Y/N!” His voice boomed through the apartment. He heard a dull thud and closed his eyes, gritting in annoyance. How could one person be that clumsy?
Startled, you rushed into the kitchen. Your eyes frantically darted around the small room until they landed on Younghyun’s form. “What’s wrong?”
Younghyun turned around and looked at you, a grin playing over his lips when he saw your dishevelled appearance before he resumed the pointed stare. He schooled his expression again, ignoring the flutter in his stomach from your wide eyes. How could you look this adorable when you were such a mess?
Your eyes scanned his face, worried something bad happened while you still waited for his answer.
Younghyun simply pointed at the sink and your eyes followed the movement, noticing the broken cup you had left there.
“Are you hurt?” You quickly rushed over to him and grabbed his hands, turning them around and tracing his palms with your finger. “I noticed it was broken in the cupboard and put it in the sink so neither of us would use it by accident and get hurt.
Younghyun stared at you in disbelief. “Why didn’t you throw it out in the first place?” He asked, tone exasperated. He pulled his hands out of yours and stepped away, his heart pounding within his chest.
Your shoulders slumped down, face slightly falling before you returned to a neutral expression again. “It’s your favourite cup”, you murmured and looked down at the cup. “I didn’t want to throw it away and I knew simply taking it would make you mad.”
“I’m mad because I constantly find broken things around the apartment!” Younghyun raised his voice, internally seeing how the thread of his patience snapped.
You grabbed the broken parts within the sink and held them in your hands, looking down at the pieces. “I’m not doing it on purpose. Also I didn’t break your cup this time.”
“This time! Y/N, I swear to god”, Younghyun didn’t finish the sentence, instead he rubbed his face with his hands, feeling incredibly tired all of a sudden.
Tears pricked at the corner of your eyes and you could feel your lower lip trembling. Without another word you turned around and stormed out of the kitchen, still holding the broken pieces in your hands.
“Where are you going now?!” Younghyun called after you even though he didn’t expect an answer. His heart twisted painfully, knowing his outburst had hurt you. He never meant to hurt you. With a deep sigh he sat down at the counter and buried his face in his hands. He shouldn’t have yelled, shouldn’t have blamed you for something you didn’t do on purpose.
After a while, Younghyun pushed himself up and trotted to your bedroom. He raised his hand and hesitated, hearing quiet sniffling from inside your room. Younghyun winced but decided to knock on the wooden surface nonetheless, waiting for your response.
All of a sudden it became eerily quiet behind the door, worrying Younghyun even more about the severity of the damage his outburst had done. He knocked again, softly calling out to you.
The only response he received was the clicking of the lock, making him think you actually locked him out of your room. His hand trembled violently when he moved it to the doorknob, slowly twisting and opening it.
Younghyun exhaled the breath he had held, noticing the short rush of relief spreading through his body when he opened the door and stepped into your room.
You sat on your bed, back facing him. Even though you tried your very best, you knew your shoulders were shaking and that it was only a matter of time before your sobs turned loud again.
“Hey, y/n, about earlier”, Younghyun spoke softly, carefully taking one step after another closer to you. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to let it all out on you. That was wrong of me. I guess I just was kind of stress- holy shit! What happened?”
Younghyun’s eyes widened in shock, quickly stepping right behind you when he noticed the red stains on your sheets.
When you didn’t react and only continued to press the pieces of the cup together with bloody fingers, Younghyun slowly leaned down, prying your hands off of the shards.
A loud sob escaped your throat the moment Younghyun pulled the broken cup out of your hands and placed it down on your bed.
“Hey, it’s alright, okay? You’re going to be okay, yeah?” Younghyun grabbed your wrist with one hand, using his free arm to wrap it around your body. He noticed the tube of liquid glue next to the pieces, feeling his throat close up in guilt.
For a moment he only held you, needing the time to gather his thoughts while you continued to cry silently. Seeing your bloody hands again, Younghyun inhaled deeply before he lifted you up and carried you to the bathroom.
Somewhat clumsy - oh the irony - he sat down together with you on the edge of the bathtub. Younghyun held you tightly against his chest with one arm while he leaned forward and turned on the faucet of the sink.
“You wanted to repair the cup, didn’t you?” He asked softly as he grabbed your wrists again and pulled them under the warm stream of water.
You nodded shortly, biting on your lower lip to stop the sobs but they only fought their way through. Through bleary eyes you stared at the sink, seeing the red stained water vanishing down the drain.
“That’s why you didn’t throw it away.”
Again you only nodded. When Younghyun had called you earlier, you had browsed the internet to check how you could repair a cup without sharp edges remaining.
“And out of protest because I got mad, you decided to paint the cup with some blood?”
You snorted and shook your head, slowly gaining control over your crying. “And tears”, you mumbled.
“And tears”, Younghyun repeated, turning off the water and gently drying your hands. He grabbed a small medical kit from under the sink and started bandaging your hands. Once he finished he turned you on his lap, brushing the remnants of your tears away with his thumb. “Let’s just throw the cup away, yeah? I can always choose a new favourite one.”
“We can’t always throw things away when I break them”, you whispered, new tears forming in your eyes.
Younghyun leaned his forehead against yours and closed his eyes, humming quietly in agreement. “But I also can’t see you getting hurt because you try to repair them every time.”
“I only got hurt because I couldn’t see properly.”
“Y/N, stop arguing with me when I just told you I care about you”, Younghyun sighed but pulled you closer into his embrace nonetheless. “Right now, I don’t know if I want to kiss you or scold you for hurting yourself over something so stupid.”
It stayed quiet for a moment between the both of you where you simply took in the presence of the other.
“Can I pick?” You asked, suddenly feeling shy in front of him.
“Only if you pick a kiss”, Younghyun answered, opening his eyes and leaning back a little. A grin spread over his features when he saw you nodding.
Younghyun closed the space between you, his lips hovering in front of yours. He waited several heartbeats, still offering you the chance to pull away, before he turned the ghost of a touch of your lips into a deep kiss. One of his hands came up to your neck and held you there.
“Just know, I’m still going to scold you later for giving me a heart attack when I saw all that blood and thought the worst”, Younghyun murmured between kisses.
You whined softly before he stopped you with another kiss, letting you successfully shut up and enjoy the moment.

Yongbok looked at you standing before him, and for some reason a strange thought arose. A strange feeling that if he were to leave with you, his life would be restarted. But on second thought, he calmed down. He had no idea who you were, what you were doing in such a place at such a time, and why you wanted him to come with you. Yongbok hated the place where he lived and hated his self-proclaimed father even more, but to ask him to leave with someone he barely knew, no, someone whose name he didn't even know? He wasn't that eager yet.
But there was still a voice in his heart that wanted him to make his first attempt.
" Who… Who are you?" He asked in a puzzled tone, but there was a hint of anticipation in his voice.
"Y/N Y/L/N." You took off your gloves and reached over to Yongbok, speaking in a calm tone, as if what you were saying was just a simple phrase.
However, this name made Yongbok's heart drop in shock.
In J City, a place known as "hell on earth", there were only two names people needed to remember. One was "Kang Younghyun" and the other was "Y/N Y/L/N". The first was the leader of DAY6, which ruled J City almost single-handedly as a mafia organization. The latter was the leader of STRAYKIDS, the only mafia in J City that could be compared to DAY6. And you, the person in front of him, claimed to be Y/N Y/L/N. Yongbok was never properly educated, but he knew that no one in J City dared to claim to be Y/N. He didn't believe you even the slightest.
But… Even if you really were Y/N Y/L/N, how could a person of your stature appear in the middle of the night in a rundown alley?
And you, who claimed to be STRAYKIDS leader Y/N, was neither angry nor surprised to see him with such an expression.
"Believe what you want, I know we don't have a good reputation in J City, it's up to you if you want to come with me," you saw Yongbok hesitate to shake your hand, so you gave up and put your gloves back on, "I was simply offering you another way. Although… You don't seem to have any other options either."
Yongbok was a little embarrassed to have his heart spoken to, but he had no way to refute it. He turned his head to look at his father and mother lying beside him, and then looked up again to examine you carefully. The way you were dressed was not far from what the leader of the STRAYKIDS, Y/N, was said to look like. A long black trench coat with leather boots and gloves. But what could the similarity in dress mean? And besides…
"I've never killed anyone, I've never broken the law, I've never used a gun, I have no use for you," Yongbok gritted his teeth, for some reason, when confronting you, he felt like he would fall into a trap and be captured if he loosened his hold, "Why would you want me to come with you?"
Your expression did not change in the slightest, still looking at him calmly, with a touch of coldness revealing in your eyes.
"You're right," you replied after a long pause, "you really don't have any use for us."
It was obviously something that Yongbok knew very well, but there was still a faint sense of humiliation when hearing it come from you.
"Like I said, I'm just offering you another path."
You repeated your earlier words, "If you don't want to, then we'll leave it at that."
Watching you put your hand on the inside of your coat, Yongbok suddenly had a bad feeling in his stomach. You said, "we'll leave it at that," but it must have meant something else.
He tried to calm down, sorted out his existing thoughts, and realized that he had no reason to refuse your offer. He really had nowhere to return to. His father's attitude just now was clearly trying to blame him for his mother's death. Then even if he and his father returned home, the best outcome for him would be to continue working day and night. And the worst possible ending… He didn't even dare to imagine it.
Although he still wasn't completely convinced that you were "just offering him another way out", that there must be something you were hiding from him. But since there was no turning back now, it was better to take the chance. If you could really help him get out of his current situation, even if he loses the bet, at least he has tried something. He tried to make his life better for himself. Even if it does end badly, that would still be much better than living like this.
As you watched the rapid change in Yongbok's eyes, you knew he was going through a tough thought process. Then, his expression gradually began to change. And finally, Yongbok gritted his teeth and looked you straight in the eye for the first time. For the first time, you saw something other than fear and distress in his eyes. It was a look of anticipation and desire for an unknown fate.
It was a look that you had never seen in his eyes before.
You released your hand from the revolver's grip, already knowing his answer.
"So, your answer is?"
"Please lead the way."
Yongbok stayed close behind you the whole time.
He had never been out at this time of day. One, because his father wouldn't allow it, and two, because J City wasn't a safe place to be in the first place. It wasn't called "hell on earth" for no reason. The police were almost non-existent, criminals were on the loose, the class divide was obvious, and the level of social disorder was unbearable. Most of the stores were closed down, and even the few that were open were just empty shells, with most of the goods inside being ransacked. Robbers could often be seen all over the streets.
Thus, the dangerous and chaotic J City was basically managed by two gangs, DAY6 and STRAYKIDS. No, until a year ago there was only DAY6, STRAYKIDS was a force that suddenly emerged out of nowhere after the assassination of the mayor of P City a year ago.
The two gangs were very different, with DAY6 being run by the Kang family, the richest man in J City, with more than 10,000 men and eyes all over the city. It was rumored that any male with money could become a member of DAY6 and work for the Kang family. The leader of the family, Kang Younghyun, is worth over a billion dollars and lives like a king. To be a member of DAY6 was something many young boys dreamed of.
On the other hand, STRAYKIDS is much more obscure. Although the exact number of members was a mystery, Yongbok often heard from the workers at the construction site that there were less than ten of them. Compared to DAY6, STRAYKIDS is a very mysterious organization. No one knew about the members other than the leader, Y/N. And even when it came to Y/N, they had only heard of her name and the fact that she was a woman. No one knew anything else about her, and all they knew about her were rumors. That's why when Yongbok heard you introduce yourself as Y/N, he had that unbelievable look on his face.
There were many rumors about Y/N, among which "she could take on more than ten men alone unscathed" was one of the more numerous examples. Youngbok was still not convinced that you were Y/N, but after seeing you strike his father down with just one blow, he was at least convinced of your strength.
On the way, the two of you didn't say a word.
Before this, Yongbok had never had a chance to really look at the city he had lived in for more than ten years. In addition to searching in his head about Y/N and STRAYKIDS, he was also lamenting the dilapidation and decay of J City. The gloomy weather with the rows of dilapidated houses, the street lights that have long been abandoned, and the old bicycles that have been discarded for who knows how long. All of those things spoke of the desolation of J City and gave Yongbok a deep chill.
After some time, you finally stopped in front of a run-down looking bar. There was a sign above the bar that read "MIROH". Realizing that this was your destination, Yongbok's face turned extremely pale. He realized that he had probably been tricked. He couldn't convince himself that such a long-abandoned bar was the supposed base of STRAYKIDS.
He wanted to ask you, but the words escaped his lips. He was afraid he would say something you wouldn't like to hear, and his current situation made it impossible for him to take any chances.
You didn't stay at the door of the bar for long, just a few seconds before you walked up and pushed the wooden door open. The wooden door, which had been in disrepair for years, made an ear-piercing creaking sound the moment it opened. But the expected musty smell and dust did not spread out, but rather a faint aroma to meet the face. This made Yongbok's heart puzzled, and his footsteps, which had been somewhat hesitant, slowly stepped forward. But his heart remained alert, ready to deal with any sudden danger.
Although the bar was closed and curtains were drawn, from the outside it looked like it had been abandoned for a long time, but the interior was clean and without a trace of dust. The tables and chairs were neatly arranged, and there were no traces of use. The variety of alcohol behind the bar was also diverse, beer, wine, vodka, whiskey, all the things he had seen in his father's liquor cabinet. From the appearance of the place, it looked like an ordinary bar. But that confused Yongbok even more.
However, you still remained silent and just slowly walked towards the bar. Yongbok, although still full of suspicion, dutifully followed you. You squatted down and pulled open a cabinet that was less than a meter high, but by this point, Yongbok had it all figured out.
Because there was nothing inside the cabinet. No, it wasn't a cabinet, but a door. A door that lifted up from the floor. When the door was opened, there was a flight of stairs inside. At the very end was a real door.
Yongbok couldn't help but swallow. This was all too unbelievable. Could this place really be the base of STRAYKIDS? If so, wouldn't that mean you're really the "Y/N"?
This all seemed perfectly normal to you, as if you had been doing the same thing over and over again every day. You climbed down the ladder without hesitation, then walked down the stairs to the door without looking back, and Yongbok followed.
Like a normal person going home, you took a key out of your pocket and inserted it into the lock and turned it twice and slowly pushed the door open.
The moment the door opened, a figure suddenly appeared from inside the door and lunged in your direction, Yongbok shrieked and instinctively stretched out his arms to block it, but you remained calm and dodged it with a slight side-step.
The person, seeing that you had just dodged him, let out a dissatisfied complaint: "Noona, where have you been? Why did you disappear all of a sudden? We were all worried about you…"
The voice sounded like that of a teenager, and Yongbok dared to withdraw his hand at the sound of this voice, and then began to take a closer look at the person in front of him.
The boy before him didn't look as old as he was, perhaps in his teens, probably not more than twenty. Based on the way he just addressed you, it could be inferred that he was some kind of a younger brother character of yours.
You heard the boy's question, but did not make a reply, and just went ahead and walked around his figure into the room. And it was only due to the absence of your silhouette that the boy was able to see Yongbok.
Then, any emotion in his eyes disappeared in a flash.
"Who are you, and where is Hannie hyung?" His tone was suspicious, even with a hint of murderous intent.
When you heard him say "Hannie hyung", your footsteps paused involuntarily, but then returned to normal.
"Y/N?" Just then, before you could answer, another voice came from inside the room, diverting Yongbok's attention away from the young boy in front of him. "What's going on here? …… Who is he, and where did Jisung go? Didn't you leave together?"
Another series of questions added to Yongbok's already extremely confused mind. He had almost given up trying to understand the current situation. There was just one thought hovering in his mind: this was not how he imagined members of a gang would greet each other.
Both the boy from earlier and the man who had just appeared at the moment had a worried, heartfelt tone. It was like…… The greetings from family members.
But in the face of such concern, you were still not talking.
The man who came later pressed your shoulder when you tried to walk past him, frowned and tried to meet your eyes, but once again you avoided looking.
"Y/N…"
"Noona?"
The two men spoke one after the other.
"You, come in."
In the end, however, you didn't answer any of their questions, but instead turned back in Yongbok's direction.
Yongbok was suddenly a little overwhelmed by the call, looking at the two men in front of him hesitantly. The killing intent in the eyes of the boy just now made him unable to take a step.
Watching Yongbok not react, the man who came after gave him a smile.
"Y/N let you come in, you can come in."
The man's tone was full of tenderness, a tone that no one had ever used when speaking to Yongbok. He was a bit flattered by this, but eventually, with the help of those words, he stepped into what he now almost confirmed was the "STRAYKIDS base".
You averted your eyes from Yongbok as soon as you saw him walk in.
"Y/N, is he a new member?" The man asked again.
And this time, you answered him.
"He's Jisung's replacement."
Hearing that, the boy from before showed a puzzled look.
"Replacement? Why would we need a replacement for Hannie hyung, and where is he?"
Your eyes fell on the boy, and it was unclear if it was Yongbok's illusion, but he seemed to catch a glimpse of reluctance in your eyes. But it was only for a moment.
You turned your head away and took a step away.
Just as the boy was about to follow and ask again, you opened your mouth.
"Han Jisung is dead."

pairing: kang younghyun (young k/brian) x reader genre: angst word count: 668
Tumblr media
Younghyun should’ve known something was wrong when you no longer greeted him when he came home to your shared apartment after a busy day. It started a few days ago. The first time it happened, he had gotten back around midnight. Younghyun told you not to wait up for him, but part of him still hoped that you did. For some reason, he couldn’t help but feel selfish when it comes to you.
“Yn! I’m home.” Younghyun smiled, kicking off his shoes at the front door, eagerly waiting for your voice to call back to him or for you to jump from the sofa with drowsiness evident in your eyes. His smile fell when he was met with nothing but silence, lights off and darkness engulfing every crevice of the apartment. But he only sighed, thinking he would try again tomorrow.
He never lost his habit of calling out to you the second he walks past the threshold, always waiting for your reply with an expectant smile; a reply that never came, and will possibly never come again.
The final straw for you, however, came a few weeks ago. You were dressed up in your best outfit for a date that never showed. Embarrassing couldn’t even begin to describe the experience of waiting over three hours in the most expensive restaurant in the city, multiple waiters asking if you were going to order soon, the looks of pity the other customers gave you. They thought you couldn’t hear their harsh whispers—maybe they meant well, but you knew better than to believe that. You canceled every meeting you had for the day, much to the dismay of your boss, but it was fine. Especially if it meant that you would actually be there for him, maybe he’d be there for you too. You thought this day would be the exception, your anniversary, that you would finally show up for one another.
You went home that day alone and emotionally exhausted, wanting to crash into your bed and finally relax, only to find your boyfriend asleep on the couch.
“Please,” Younghyun pleaded that following morning, grabbing onto your wrist as you turned to exit the apartment, “don’t leave.”
You couldn’t break up with him, not when you saw the tears streaming down his face or felt the tightness of his grip. Reluctantly, you nodded. Both of you weathered tougher storms than this. You were going to forgive him, even if you had to force yourself to.
But the cracks in your relationship revealed itself months before that night, when both of you began choosing everything else but the other person. You had a report to finish writing. He had a song to finish composing. Your best friend wanted to hang out this afternoon. He was going out with his bandmates. Maybe tomorrow, what about next weekend? Dates were pushed further and further back until neither of you bothered to follow up on it. But you loved each other, surely that must be enough?
Younghyun entered your apartment drenched from the rain. The weather report from this morning warned him about heavy rain, but he didn’t bother bringing an umbrella—especially when the sun shined so brightly that afternoon. All he wanted now a warm shower and to have you in his arms. He found you in your bedroom, sleeping soundly on your side of the bed. A smile tugs at his mouth at the sight of you at peace, moving to lie down beside you. The rain had only fallen harder since his arrival, in the distance a crackling sound threatened to rattle your peaceful slumber and quick flashes of light momentarily lit up the room through the windows. Younghyun wrapped an arm around your waist, pulling you closer to him, but you subconsciously moved away—retreating to the edge of the bed.
It was only then he knew a storm was coming, and he was unsure if it was the kind the both of you could get past.

Tumblr media
↳  Pairing: Brian/Younghyun x Reader
↳  Word count: 697
↳ Notice: Based on How I Met Your Mother. Can/Will count as spoilers for the show!
⁙  Summary: Standing on a train platform in the rain under your yellow umbrella, your life changes forever.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Over the years, your yellow umbrella had taken quite an adventure throughout the world. You thought you had lost it forever ago when you were living in Toronto, having forgotten it in your drunken haze, dragged to some club for St. Patrick's day by one of your friends. It was gone for months until it mysteriously reappeared in your apartment around Christmas almost two years later.
While it wasn't uncommon for you to misplace things, it was strange how your silly bright yellow umbrella had managed to disappear and reappear in your life like that. After moving to Seoul, you had finally managed to keep it with you, now a prized possession and kept close to you at all times.
You knew in your heart that this umbrella would maybe lead to your own adventure, where the bright yellow waterproof barrier maybe wouldn't leave you behind. So you kept it.
It had all come to a head when you were standing on a nearly deserted train platform one night, violin case in hand. The rain was plummeting from the sky in thick, heavy drops. You stood underneath your trusty yellow umbrella, listening and watching the tracks for the lights of the train that would take you home. You had enough of drama-filled gigs, deciding to finally resign yourself to joining an orchestra. So much for your solo career.
"Hi there," the timid voice brought you back to the present world, watching a tall man with high cheekbones and a sheepish smile getting pelted with the rain. His red hair was soaked against his face, and you thought he may have been rushing through the storm for a while.
"Oh," you quickly lifted your umbrella in a silent offer. He quickly took it, joining you under its protection and holding the umbrella above you so he could stand up straight. "Hi there, I hope you don't catch a cold!"
"I think you might have just saved me from one," he laughed, adjusting the way he was standing to give you personal space. As you observed him through the dark, you noticed he had a guitar case strapped to his back. "I liked your performance."
You blushed. "You saw that? I feel really embarrassed about playing the violin for nine hours in a dead coffee shop,"
"Everyone starts somewhere," he said, smiling down at you. "You're talented."
"Thank you,'' you had barely known this man for five minutes and he is already making your heart beat rapidly, but your eyebrows furrow in confusion when his smile fades to something akin to realization.
"Wait a second," he says softly. "This is my umbrella!"
"What? No way, it's mine, I remember buying it!" You begin to laugh, but you quiet down when he shakes his head.
"I left this at my ex's place before I moved to Seoul!"
Your smile fades a little. "Wait, what?"
"Y-yeah! See, these are my initials on the handle. KY for Kang Younghyun." He pointed to his side of the umbrella, the label pasted on clear as day.
"But here are mine, (Letter) (Letter) for (Y/N) (L/N). I lived in Toronto up until two years ago." You're looking up at him with your finger on your own label when the epiphany also dawns on him. "Although, I did lose it for a while,"
"At a dance club on St. Patrick's Day… that's where I found it!" He beams at you, realizing the amazing chance that this all could happen. "You're Jessica's roommate," his voice is soft, memories coming back to him. There's something in his eyes. As if he had found something he had spent his entire life searching for.
"Yeah, I… I left it there,"
"And you never thought you'd see it again," Younghyun said softly, his tone nearly like a guess, looking you right in the eyes.
"I never thought I'd see it again," you repeated. A thought entered your head as you both looked at each other, "funny how… you just… find things."
Younghyun listened to you, and it took a few seconds before he spoke again. He took in a deep breath and smiled shyly, "hi,"
You giggled quietly. "Hi."
Ways to Fall in Love Series
44. At an arcade
Genres: fluff, coworkers au
Pairing: Reader & YoungK (Day6)
Words: 1.8k
Note: I’m sorry this is so late and also not my best work :/ but hey this is one of my favourite tropes, and fun fact it’s actually inspired by an episode of “my classmate from far far away” which is a chinese drama I uhhhhh never finished watching lol
You don’t know Kang Younghyun all that well, but you’re definitely okay with learning more.
•••
You’d classify work like this.
At home, you spend an awful lot of time on your laptop. Like, maybe an unhealthy amount, just staring at a screen for hours.
Work is just like that. Except bad.
You’ve been reading the recent stats report for the past half an hour, at least, and either you’ve suddenly teleported to an alternate universe with a totally different number system, or you’re really, really tired. Honestly, you kind of wish it’s the universe one. If you were in an alternate universe, maybe an alien could come down and abduct you from your boring-as-hell desk job, then you could introduce MarioKart to the new alien race. Even aliens must like video games.
“Working hard, I see.”
You look away from your computer screen, eyes burning a little, to find Kang Younghyun standing in the open entrance of your cubicle, a cheeky smile on his face and two steaming mugs in hand.
“Coffee?”
He holds out one hot cup o’ joe for you to take, and you scrunch your nose with a regretful smile.
“Sorry... I don’t really... do coffee.”
Now, Younghyun would know that if the office was open-concept, but no, you’re all stuck in these personal hell-boxes called cubicles that don’t allow any interaction between coworkers other than the occasional overlapping break. And you say occasional very sparingly.
“Oh,” he says, awkwardly pulling the coffee back. His other hand moves to scratch the back of his neck, but he suddenly remembers the other mug in his hand when the coffee inside swishes and nearly spills out. He laughs, and you join him. “Sorry, I didn’t—”
“It’s okay.”
It’s his break, apparently, but he tells you there’s someone in the communal breakroom he can’t stand, so you invite him in. Anything that could help you with this statistics report. He leans over your shoulder from behind your chair, examining the spreadsheet when the last thing he should be doing during his break is more work. But with his help, you get it done and have good conversation along the way, so you aren’t complaining.
Once your work is done, you let out a sigh, leaning back in your chair. You look up at Younghyun with a thankful smile, but when you see his face, you realize something.
“Didn’t your break end, like—” you check your watch “—twenty minutes ago?”
He doesn’t respond, just looks at you with a tiny, almost unnoticeable smile. Weird.
“Younghyun?”
His eyes widen. “What— oh, wait, hold on... what are we talking about?”
You raise your eyebrows, laughing a bit at the way he shifts on his feet. “Your break? I think it’s over by now.”
“Oh shoot, you’re right!” He fumbles to grab the two empty mugs he brought (having drank both coffees) and rushes out of your cubicle before you can say anything else. You laugh softly again, turning back to your computer to email out your updated report, but your fingers barely graze the keyboard when he suddenly reappears. “Hey.”
“Yeah?”
He purses his lips together for a second, his fingers drumming against the empty coffee mugs. “Um... let’s hang out. After work. I know a place that might help you unwind.”
He runs off before you can ask where.
“I must say, I did not expect this.”
The entire arcade sports a blue and red theme — very much an homage to the classic red vs blue video game trope. You can hear the delighted screams of children and the competitive grunts of over-serious teenagers from just about every direction. Standing there next to Younghyun in your business clothes (though Younghyun has removed his tie) you feel tremendously out of place.
Younghyun chuckles a bit at your reaction, his hands stuffed casually in his slacks’ pockets. “What were you expecting then?”
“I don’t know,” you muse as a little boy runs past, “maybe a place where they don’t serve minors?”
After joining you in laughing at your own joke, Younghyun clears his throat. “I mean, if you don’t like it...”
“Luckily,” you interrupt, “you happened to invite the second geekiest person in the office to an arcade.”
He furrows his brow. “Second? Who’s the first?”
Resisting the urge to roll your eyes, you smile. “Who do you think brought me here, you geek.” You grab the sleeve around his wrist, ready to dash. “C’mon, I wanna crush the Donkey Kong record.”
It starts with Donkey Kong, of course, and maybe you spend a bit too much time there refreshing your memory, but Younghyun doesn’t seem to mind. You both almost end up on the floor, bursting with laughter when you play a round with him at the joystick and you at the buttons. (You don’t make a great team.) Maybe you look crazy, two fully grown adults losing it over a retro arcade game, but you don’t care.
Later, he tries to show off his ‘shooting basketballs in a hoop that’s five feet away at most’ skill, and you hate to admit it, but you are kind of impressed. You yourself have never tried the game before, but he makes it seem fun. You’re crouching down, just about to slide in a token to play your own round when something wraps itself around your arm, effectively making you pause.
That “something” being a very small, very crying child.
The boy hides his red face in the sleeve of your shirt, his tiny hands fisting the fabric between his fingers as he sobs.
First, there’s the general panic. You gather the kid in your arms, cooing sweet nothings and asking if he’s alright or what’s wrong. Then there’s the confusion. You don’t know this kid — never seen him before in your life. Looking up at Younghyun, you form a silent question with your eyes, but he looks just as confused as you do.
You change your position from an awkward crouch to a more comfortable one on your knees, the boy’s face now tucked into your shoulder as you gently pat the back of his head. Babies like that right? Or is that dogs...
After a few minutes of soft shushes and light assurances, the boy calms down, his once wailing cries turning into silent, slow tears. You pull him back a little, just enough so you can see his face, but his hands tighten their grip on your shirt.
“Hey there,” you say, trying to keep your voice as light as possible. You brush his bangs out of his eyes. “What’s wrong?’
The boy says nothing, but his face scrunches up, and you’re scared he might start bawling again.
“No no no,” you rush. “I’m sorry, hey it’s okay. It’s okay.” Cupping his cheeks, you brush away his tears with your thumbs, mouth spewing whatever niceties come to mind.
You wouldn’t say you’re the best with kids.
Shooting a desperate look to Younghyun as a silent plea for help, your jaw drops when you see his eyes all squinted, his hand up to cover his grin — but not enough.
He’s laughing at you! The nerve! The audacity! The—
Just as you’re about to call Younghyun a very choice word, the boy mumbles something. Your attention returns to the boy in your arms, whose incoherent mumbling is a far cry from actual words. You think you get the gist — lost his guardian; scared; is a baby.
And it’s all good and well that you’ve got the gist, but really, you’re at a loss.
You scoop up the boy in your arms and stand, resting him on your hip in a way you hope is comfortable.
“Uh...” You look around for a parent or guardian or something, someone who would be way more panicked than you. After all, you may have just found a random kid, but someone else just lost one. No one appears in your search. The only person in the entire place that could help you is the teenager working the prize counter, but you’re not about to dump this kind of responsibility on some kid who probably doesn’t even make minimum wage.
Instead of helping you try to find a solution, Younghyun focuses on the boy whose face is once again tucked into the crook of your neck. While you steadily bounce him like you’ve seen mothers do on television, he attracts the boy’s attention with silly faces and weird hand gestures. Just standing there in the middle of an arcade, you hold a slowly calming-down boy in your arms.
Thank god for Younghyun, you suppose, else you’d probably spiral. You take back the whole “choice word” thing -- for now.
Watching as Younghyun coerces the kid into smiling and laughing (okay, maybe coercing is a bit of a harsh word,) you consider your options.
“Should we just wait here?” you whisper, though that makes no sense since the boy is closer to you than Younghyun is. No matter, the boy isn’t paying any attention to you anymore, not now that he’s playing with the stack of tickets Younghyun gave him.
“That’s probably our best option.”
Now, you’ve never really considered yourself a gushy kind of person, but... watching Younghyun fail miserably to win a claw machine toy for Jinwoo (whose name you only know because Younghyun actually had the brains to ask) while the kid sits atop his shoulders, his tiny hands clutching at Younghyun’s hair... it sort of makes you smile. And the smile hasn’t gone away.
You’ve basically just been watching the two play around for the last half hour, simply enjoying the sight of Younghyun toting Jinwoo around the arcade and playing various games, or even just holding him up high in the air while making horribly inaccurate airplane noises. It seems like Younghyun’s completely forgotten about you, though for some reason, you don’t really mind. Seeing him with Jinwoo is worthwhile, you think.
And another half hour later, when you’re waving goodbye to Jinwoo sitting in the arms of his hysterical older sister -- who had run up, scooped Jinwoo in her arms, and berated Jinwoo for wandering off until Younghyun stepped in to calm her down -- you turn your smile to Younghyun again, and he finally returns it.
“Sorry,” he says, nervously playing with his hands, “I just really like kids.”
“I could tell.”
There’s an awkward bit of silence, and since you know you ran out of tickets a while ago, you’re pretty sure the day has come to an end. Besides, you have to get home sometime for dinner.
“Well, I must say.” You put your hands on your hips and let out a loud breath through your nose. “This has definitely been the most interesting date I’ve ever had.”
“Date?!”
You meet Younghyun’s bewildered expression, laughing a bit at his shock.
“What? It wasn’t a date?”
“Well, I mean, I wanted to -- but then I -- and...” he fumbles over his words. You grin at his antics. With a short groan, he attempts to collect himself. “If you want it to be a date, then...”
“Then it was a date.” You stick out your hand to shake his, as if you’re making a business deal. Can’t be too serious, right? You’re you.
The joy on his face when he shakes your hand is barely veiled, and you can’t help but start laughing again.
“See you at work tomorrow, Younghyun.”
“Actually...”
You turn back to him.
“Would you like to grab something to eat?”
Day6 Reaction to their S/O Having their Picture as their Lockscreen
Sungjin
This boy honestly feels so honored to be on your background, almost as if you had given him the greatest gift in the world. Sungjin would notice it after your screen lit up with a notification, quickly realizing that you had managed to snap a photo of him mindlessly strumming on his guitar. He’d tease you, but you can tell he absolutely adores it. Something about it would feel so sweet to him, especially knowing that his picture was likely one of the first things you’d see when you wake up.
“Who’s this handsome man on your background? He seems really, really cute... but not as cute as you are, sweetheart...”
Tumblr media
Jae
One words: Cocky—Beware if Jae ever catches himself on your lockscreen, because he’ll never let you hear the end of it. After your date at the coffee shop where you just so happened to sneak a quick picture, Jae would immediately start teasing you for capturing him in, what he calls, “boyfriend mode.” He would also be the type to send you pictures of himself, joking that you need to have the best angle of his face. Don’t feel called out though, cause he totally has you on his lockscreen too.
“I can’t blame you, (Y/N). If I had a boyfriend this good-looking, I’d want to look at him all the time too!”
Tumblr media
Brian
You won’t get a visible reaction when it comes to Brian, but you better believe he’s gonna feel really, REALLY good knowing you have his picture as your background. One you’d taken at his concert nonetheless. He’d probably see it while you were opening your phone, and while he wouldn’t say anything, he’d be doing somersaults and cartwheels on the inside. Down the line, he’d remember to ‘dress up’ for any events he knew you’d be attending—just to give you the best pictures possible.
“Are you coming to the fan sign tomorrow afternoon, baby?... Why do I ask? No reason, I just wanted to make sure...”
Tumblr media
Wonpil
Prepare for this sunshine to go in absolute cahoots. After you took quick a picture of him on an airplane, Wonpil would probably be the one to suggest that you use his picture as your background as a joke. Although once he realizes you did just that, he’d turn into a gushing, cooing mess about how absolutely adorable you are. His other members would probably have to calm him down—given his excitement was likely causing the air turbulence.
“Oh my god! I can’t believe you actually used my photo as your background, (Y/N)-ah! I love it almost as much as I love you!”
Tumblr media
Dowoon
Similar to Brian, Dowoon probably won’t give you much of a reaction aside from blushed cheeks and cute smiles. He’d know about your fascination with taking his picture, but not that you’d go as far as to make them memorable as your lockscreen. He’d get so shy honestly, maybe murmur his approval with this bright grin across his face. It’s also highly likely that he’ll sneak a couple photos of you in the future for his background too.
“I-Is that me?... Wow, I-I think that’s really cute, baby... Do you mind if I take a picture of you? For no reason, of course!...”
Light summer breeze. Petals falling down in the most satisfying way, pooling at your feet as you walk to the beat of your heart, holding the handle of your umbrella tight enough to whiten your knuckles.
The crickets were out now that the darkness had fallen, a slight drizzle of rain warming your blood. You were wearing an oversized sweater and some shorts that were hidden underneath the fabric you wore on your upper half, a pair of old sneakers to match.
You had decided to take a late night walk, eyes red and puffy from too much crying. You had been having some boy trouble and had been embarrassed in front of probably your whole university, so crying was the only way to make you feel less shitty, and no one could tell you otherwise. You had been walking for a few minutes and stopped by your favorite café near Han River, going to stand over the bridge running over the river after ordering yourself some coffee. You were sniffing the air with closed eyes when you suddenly opened them to what you had assumed was an angel, before you realized that he didn't have wings.
He was wearing a creamy beige turtle neck sweater and jeans with ankle high boots, his black hair falling very gently into his face and accentuating his jawline as he watched the water as if it was the most interesting thing on earth. He had a see-through umbrella over his shoulder, the fairy lights that were attached to it only making him look that much more angelic, if it were possible.
You continued shamelessly staring at the gorgeous stranger, eventually wandering over and standing next to him.
"Penny for your thoughts, stranger?" you asked in a light voice, a warm smile adorning your face.
The angel turned to look at you slowly, eyes jumping around questioningly, as if to ask "Who? Me?"
You immediately decide that this angel was cute and that you wanted to keep him, your smile getting wider. Just a few hours ago you had embarrassed yourself in front of everyone you knew while talking to a boy that you liked, yet here you were making it seem effortless.
"Do I know you?" He asked in the most honey like voice you had ever heard, the sound strangely addictive. Still smiling, you shook your head with a shrug.
"Not at all." You giggled childishly at the way his brow furrowed in confusion, at his mercy, completely helpless to his charms. "I just noticed the way you were staring at the water and you look like you're thinking very deeply about something," you explained, heart jumping into his hands when he laughed in disbelief, tilting his head at you with a smile.
"Is that so?"
You nodded, your cheeks starting to ache from smiling too much.
"Why don't I tell you over a cup of coffee, since we're at a café?" he asked cheekily, a grin pulling at his lips.
You nodded eagerly, taking his hand and pulling him over to the seating area. You turned to look at him with a grin of your own before saying, "Great idea! I've already ordered."
---
After sitting down he introduced himself as Kang Younghyun, occasionally called Brian by his close friends, who was majoring in Business at your university with Music as his extra classes. You told him your name, telling him that you’re majoring in Writing, hoping to become an editor (since you weirdly enough enjoy editing), and that you were taking art and music as extra classes.
"So then, Younghyun, you sill haven't answered my first question," you said matter-of-factly, sipping at your latte with a raised brow.
"Oh, that? I thought that was you flirting?" he mused with a smirk, the teasing tone in his voice making you chortle.
"Oh no it was, but I'm genuinely curious," you said, chortling at the way he laughed disbelievingly.
"I was thinking about how I need to man up and ask this girl I like in my music class out." he said, shrugging as he sighed deeply.
"Oh, you like someone?" you asked dejectedly, playing with your coffee cup. Brian nodded, sighing again.
"Well then," you said, slamming your fist against the table and gaining not only Younghyun's attention but a few people around you's attention as well.
"I say, go for it! I doubt you have anything to lose," you encouraged him confidently. He raised a brow with a smirk, looking at you as if to say "excuse me what?"
You rolled your eyes before starting to explain.
"Listen, Brian—can I call you Brian?"
"Go ahead." He smiled.
"Right then, Brian, listen. You seriously have nothing to lose. Maybe a smudge of pride but that's nothing. I mean have you seen yourself? I'm sure every girl would be willing to throw themselves at you, hell, sign me up!" you rambled on, hands all over the place and not realizing the way Younghyun was looking at you.
"You really think so?" he asked softly, making you think of a puppy, your heart melting.
You nodded solemnly, smiling at him.
"Definitely."
With the most shit eating grin ever, he cleared his throat. "Okay, then. Y/N, I really like you and would like to take you to dinner."
“Oh, shit.”
Young K x About Now by Day6
for anon ✨❤️ I hope the quarantine theme is not triggering, I just got inspired!
Youngyhun smiled when he looked at the clock. It was about 10 o’clock. By about now, you must have taken off your make up. 10 minutes later, you must have finished preparing yourself to go to sleep. He knew your schedule like it was written on the back of his hand, that much time you had spent living together, and this lockdown was killing him. You were forced to live separately now that this virus thing was going on, and it was a big change for you two, who have been spending almost every day together. Now, days passed slower, like the clock itself couldn’t accept what has happening.
He sighed and took his phone in hand, scrolling down his contacts, finding your name and calling your number. He was surprised when you didn’t pick up, and even more surprised when he hang up. He stood confused for a second, but then the screen lit up but an incoming video call from skype. He smiled and picked up.
“If you’re gonna do something, at least do it the right way,” you said playfully when his face appeared and he laughed and agreed, amused when he saw you wearing one old shirt of his as a pyjama.
“Missed me?” you asked. He cocked an eyebrow.
“I always do. So tell me, how was your day? What did you do today?”
“Ah, not much. Just studied a bit and then I cooked something simple for dinner, didn’t really had much of an appetite. How about you?”
“Pretty much the same, with a small difference that I also binge-watched Avatar,” he said.
“I told you you’d love it but you didn’t listen,” you said, happy. He nodded.
“Ugh, when is this thing going to be over, I need to get back to my routine and be reconnected with reality, it’s been killing me lately,” Younghyun said and you agreed.
“At least we have found things to do to keep us a bit occupied.”
“Yeah but still, it’s not the same when you’re not around.” He frowned. ‘Like, there are days when my alarms rings for, I don’t know, the third time, and I still wait for you to come in and tell me that I need to get up cause we’re gonna miss the bus to uni.” You laughed at the small reminder of this detail in your daily routine, and agreed. “Or, how about that little coffee shop we visit at least three times a week? Or our walks through town and our little strolls near the shore? God, I really miss those moments. I bet the town will be empty now, it’s really depressing. I need everything to be normal again, I need to put my thoughts in order again!”
You laughed at Younghyun’s little rage, but you couldn’t help but agree. You felt the same. Everything was unease, and the fact that he was a big part of your everyday life and he was absent wasn’t really helping. But these late night calls of yours sometimes helped you get rid of the loneliness for a bit and made you feel somewhat better, s you knew you just had to wait a few more days until you’d meet again, praying that time will be on your side, quarantine will be over and you’ll be back in your routine and plans again, together.
give me an idol and a song and I'll build you a drabble or timestamp
If someone deeply loves someone else platonically or romantically, and the love isn't replicated, or they think it isn't, they will acquire hanahaki disease. Flowers will start to encase the heart and esophagus, causing the afflicted to throw up flower petals. There are five stages to this illness, each riskier than the next. Five stages, five flowers, five boys. Platonic, or romantic, these five boys will be directly involved with hanahaki.
One ~ Jae | Tulip - One-Sided Love
Even just thinking about this morning makes you feel sick. But you couldn't linger on that. Jae would be heading up to your apartment to pick you up for brunch with your old college group. He can't find you like this.
Two ~ Dowoon | Yellow Crysanthemum - Loneliness
He takes another sip of his drink, feeling the alcohol burn a lot harsher than it should. Did he scrape his throat or something? Maybe this is a sign he should stop drinking for tonight. He sighs aloud to no one in particular and asks for a check from a passing waitress.
Three ~ Wonpil | Daffodil - Unrequited Love
Wonpil is in love with Younghyun, but Younghun thinks of him as a brother.
Four ~ Sungjin | Cyclamen - Separation
Sungjin and Jae get into an argument, and Sungjin is worried Jae hates him now.
Five ~ Younghyun | Purple Lilacs - First Love
Younghyun fake-dates a fellow uni student to get her parents off her back, but she starts to fall for him.
Progress on each chapter
Jae - 30% overall | Outline 89%, Writing 20%
Dowoon - 10% overall | Outline 35%, Writing 5%
Tumblr media
[Sep. 11, 2019]
"My throat still feels tight, Jae." You admitted honestly to the eldest member in your band, who was also like an older brother too you.
"Here drink some water, you might've strained your vocal cords." He explained kindly handing you a water bottle, in hopes it'd help.
"Not possible. I've done this for years." Reluctantly though, you took the bottle from him, mumbling a low 'thanks' as soon as it made contact with your hand.
"Hence why your vocal cords are probably strained... take a break for a while." Jae chuckled at your stubbornness before his face went back to a serious expression.
"Where's the rest of the guys?" Your head turned towards Wonpil who was standing at his keyboard, fingers playing around with the keys. Though as you spoke, your body immediately acted out on instinct and you winced.
Wonpil looked up at you, eyes fluttering with worry though he didn't vocally admit it. "Store. They peaked into the studio an hour ago and said they went out for a coffee run. I think there's traffic, it's that time of an hour."
"They should hurry. I want to record the next part of the song before my voice gets worse."
"Y/n, I don't think it can get any worse... You should take a break." Wonpil finally voiced his concern, and you ignored everything he said. You knew it looked bad, hell, your throat was burning, but you didn't want to admit it and voice your own concerns.
"I don't want to take a break, Wonpil. I just want to finish this—"
For once his voice actually raised, and he made you jump. "You're going to hurt yourself even more! Please, just take a break."
Grasping at your throat gently, you smoothed over the skin, growing more and more worried than you were letting on.
"This has never happened before," you stated clearly sounding confused, then whispering, "I don't know what to do."
"What don't you know what to do?"
Shit. Younghyun was back with the others.
You stood straight, your hand flying from your throat to lay beside you. Hopefully, he hadn't heard the whole conversation, because surely he'd worry and grow irritated that you decided to put the band before your health and well-being.
Suddenly Jae spoke up from across the room, yelling very loudly, "Y/n strained her voice."
With enlarged eyes, you yelled back, "No I didn't! Stop lying Jaehyung." You scolded the oldest, using his full first name, which you almost never called him unless you were, in fact, scolding him.
Your boyfriends eyebrows knitted together in confusion, while Dowoon and Sunjin approached you quickly.
"You're hurt and you didn't tell us?" Sunjin deadpanned, while Dowoon seemed to be checking you over without actually physically touching you, just making sure you were alright other than the strained vocal voice Jae was talking about. "I'm not hurt Sunjin. Don't worry."
"Your voice sounds hoarse." Noted your boyfriend, moving swiftly past his members to stand in front of you.
He squeezed your cheeks together, forcing your lips to part slowly. He seemed to be checking your mouth, most likely your throat. He seemed so curious and worried, and this was what you were afraid of.
"Younghyun stop! You're embarrassing me!" Swatting him away was easier said and thought of than done because the tall man would not give up and was very persistent.
"It's not that big of a deal..." you whispered, that same soreness coming back instantly as soon as you spoke. "It is. Your throat is really red, and you sound hoarse. I can tell you're in pain."
"No, seriously, I'm not. And I didn't strain my voice, it's just a cold."
"She did. But she refuses to take a break."
"Jaehyung shut the hell up."
[Sep. 13, 2019]
"You've strained your vocal cords, they're not permanently damaged though, which is incredible since you told me you've been feeling a soreness for a while now." The doctor exclaimed, sending waves of relief your way with her words.
"You're very strong, but it's not good to continue singing, or else you won't heal properly or at all."
"So that means, singing is off-limits for a while." Your heart dropped to the floor.
"How long are we talking?"
She shrugged, "6-12 weeks or maybe 5 months give or take."
"No, no. I'm sorry ma'am—" Standing to your feet with a slight bounce, your face heated up with anger and your heart once again dropped. "But that's not possible. I have a concert coming up."
Younghyun placed a comforting hand in your shoulder, squeezing gently. "It's okay, I'm sure the guys will understand, so will the fans," he reassured. "We can cancel and reschedule."
"But—"
"It's for the better." You frowned. It felt like you were throwing your dreams away, and you hated feeling this way. You felt very out of place. Singing was your release of so many emotions and other things. How could you just stop, even just for a little while?
"I'm going to prescribe you medicine, it should help the healing process go faster. Also, here's a number for a therapist. They'll help you strengthen your vocal cords without straining anything,
"You shouldn't go right away, and let your throat heal a little more. Go in about a month and they can help you. That's if you follow my directions."
You sighed sadly at her words. Younghyun though was on the edge of his seat, listening to every word and all the helpful advice she was sending your way.
"Treat it as if you have a sore throat. Drink tons of liquids, specifically warm, talking must be minimum, and don't whisper; that makes it worse and can cause more hoarseness."
To say the least, you would try your headrest to right the urges to go against what she was saying. But overall, she was just trying to help you, and if you had people around you who could help, the more the better.
The walk to the car was quick, and you rushed ahead of Younghyun, hoping to avoid any form of conversation because you'd probably break down crying.
"She's not saying you're broken." He suddenly said, with his long arm, easily grabbing your elbow gently in his hand. "This can be healed. Take time off and rest."
"I know. But I don't want too."
[Oct. 22, 2019]
A whole month has gone by, and you were seeing results, you had been going to therapy, taking the medicine, and doing whatever the doctor had told you to do. Everything was going great so far. All you were waiting for was news about the concert and any possible cancelations, after all, it was coming up.
"Hey guys, I just got back from therapy and I have good news!" You called out through the band room, searching for your five other members who said they would be here today.
"That's amazing! What's the news?" Jae was the first to exit the recording studio, eyes glittering with curiosity as he plopped himself on a nearby chair
You slowed down, smile faltering as your eyes searched around the room for your boyfriend and three other members who seemed to be missing.
"Weren't we all supposed to me meet today?" You asked, gently tossing your bag and keys onto the couch near the door.
"Yeah, and we still are." He looked nervous about something, that much you could tell as you watched his cheery smile fall and disappear.
"Then where are the other four?"
"In the meeting room. We have to talk. It's pretty important." He stood from the chair and began guiding you towards the room in the back where you usually held "meetings".
You followed after the tall chicken little lookalike, all the whole worrying about what was to come.
"Is one of them sick?"
"No."
Your eyebrows furrowed, and your heart sped up. Stepping into the room you found yourself staring at the four other boys all sitting around a table, all the while accompanied by a girl with long straight burgundy colored hair, she was conversing with them all, and you were left confused. You had never seen her before.
"Then... did the concert get rescheduled?" Ignoring the girl you looked directly up at Jae, hoping he would just look at you and answer your question.
It took him a lot longer to answer than you thought for, but eventually, he did.
"We couldn't cancel or reschedule, the show was sold out." He explained, going to take one of the empty seats by Dowoon. "So... we have someone who can fill in; she'll only be temporary." He reassured most likely with the intention of keeping you calm and not worried.
"She can hit the same notes and has the same vocal range as you." The girl who looked about your age,
"You're replacing me?"
"No of course not!
"It's just for the few upcoming performances?"
"Performances? As in multiple?" Looking around the room, everyone's gazed on you seemed to be mimic one another's.
Jae even hesitated at first, he'd hurt your feelings.  "Yeah, our manager called earlier, and said a few companies want us to headline at their events."
"They're all happening within the next month."
"Oh.. I mean that's good news right?" You tried to sound happy, but in reality, you were jealous and angry, and you had every right to be, but you also felt that in a way you were being selfish.
But what you didn't know was that the new girl would seemingly be thought of as a new member months down the road and you'd be forgotten.
A University Dilemma
[Blurb XIII]
Day 6 Kang Younghyun (Young K) x Reader Summary: Younghyun is torn about being accepted into the club he wanted to join. Word Count: <500 Warnings: Mundane, fluff, not much plot, etc.
---
"Why are you so upset?" I asked turning to the brooding figure who stalked inside. The hoodie clad man that stormed into my dorm sighed, proceeding to crash down on the couch next to me. I was munching on a grannysmith and was watching Mission Impossible II... or something; maybe it was the first one, I don't know, there's 20 of them!!
I watched him as he dropped his head on my lap, making me release a sound and shuffle so that it'd be comfy for the both of us. "Younghyun, baby?" I cooed, running my hands through his hair. “Why are you sulking?”
He released a groan. "Becauseeee," he whined and from his back, rolled to his side to face the TV. "I got accepted in the club wanted to join."
My eyes darted to him and I cocked my head to the side, "Didn't you say you rejected them, Brian?"
Younghyun moaned deeply, but I don't think it was because I called him Brian.
"Yeah, but I got accepted in the job I put as a plan B, and it really took me by surprise. They even posted the names online, and I ended up attending today's seminar. There's another one tomorrow."
I hummed and continued digging my fingers into his soft black hair, "so what's the biggie?"
"The biggie?! The biggie is.... the biggie---I wanted to be part of the hosting division, not the writing division!"
At this point, I bit on my apple and averted all my attention from Tom Cruise, to my heavy headed boyfriend. I spoke nothing for he seemed like he had more words to say.
Younghyun blinked at me, "I mean I like writing but, you know, I wanted to be  host." I nod at that and at this point finished my apple.
"I know it sounds dumb. I should be happy to be part of such a big and well-known organization, but... but I was just so eager to be a host, being part of it as  a writer doesn't seem as exciting. Like, I was so hyped to be a host that... Ugh! It's like... like I've been wanting this cereal, like, I dunno, fruitloops, or whatever the hell, and then I get the cereal but instead I actually get Cheerios. I mean, Cheerios are fine but like--"
"It's not the same. I get it."
"You do?"
"Yeah. You should just quit."
"Qu- wait what?"
"If your heart isn't there, then there's no point. There are so many other clubs, babe."
"Yeah but..."
For a moment, Younghyun stays silent. Then he smiles and sighs, "You know what, you're right." He chuckles, "wow, I can't believe how relieved I feel right now."
I smile at him and he smiles back. He then sits up and kisses me. "You da real mvp, babe."
I scoff out a chuckle and flip my hair, "No duh, loser."
Domestic Moments
Tumblr media
Jae is grocery shopping, he’s the one pushing the cart with you inside it, going far too fast down the aisles as you laugh then tell him to slow down before he knocks you into a display of cans. His hand is the one that tries to sneak too many snacks into the cart when you’re not looking, it’s only when you notice he’s shoved ten packets of cookies into the cart that you make him put them back and he begrudgingly does so until you relent, teasingly pinching his cheek and calling him a kid before you let him to toss a few packs back into the cart, causing a spark of childish delight to light up in his eyes and smile, his smile forming into the brightest grin you’ve seen when you toss a few of your own snacks in the cart and declare a movie night, though you barely get to finish your sentence before his arms are around you and he’s squeezing you close and you can only laugh when he tells you that you’re the best thing that’s ever come into his life. When you’re back home he’s trying to carry all of the bags all at once, all of the grocery bags hanging off his arms and he’s trying to take on more as you tell him that it is possible to actually take two trips because you’re afraid he’ll hurt himself but he only stubbornly shakes his head and tells you “Two trips are for losers, babe!” and with a playful roll of your eyes you begin to grab as many bags as you can while he watches, shocked that you actually go along with it. He grins when you say “Last one back at the house is the loser!” and take off as fast as you can manage in front of him - which isn’t very fast, it’s more like you’re waddling, to be honest - feeling like your arms are about to drop off due to the amount of bags you had on them. It takes a moment for Jae to start moving because all he’s thinking is Oh God, do I love you…
Sungjin is lazing around in bed for just a few minutes longer during summer mornings, basking in the warmth and the rays of sun that pour into your shared bedroom while you both lie in the soft sheets, entangled with one another, so close that you’re not quite sure when you end and he begins, though you wouldn’t have it any other way. His hands are the ones that stop you from getting out of the comfort of the bed, he draws you close because he doesn’t want your warmth to leave him just yet and though you protest, insisting that you have things to do, you don’t really put up much of a fight against his gentle grip and you allow him to guide you back onto the bed and into his arms, protests dying on your tongue as he tucks you into his chest. His husky and soft spoken words urge you to stay in bed for just a while longer, “Just stay here with me for a while longer, beautiful…” and he knows he wins when you turn to press your face into the crook of his neck with a mumble of “Only ten more minutes, then we’re getting up…”. Ten minutes turn into fifteen and soon becomes twenty as you both lay there, your breath in sync as you treasure the peaceful atmosphere and the warmth the sun brings, wanting to stay in the moment forever and never leave each other’s side. When you finally insist on getting up to make breakfast - which would now be brunch - he’ll reach out to try and draw you into bed again, letting out a playful whine when you dance out of his reach and give him a wink but when you shut the bedroom door he can’t help but smile to himself as he thinks about how lucky he is to have you.
Young K is moving into your first home together, he’s the excitement and slight nervousness that stems from making the place yours and yours alone - your own little sanctuary that you share with the love of your life. His hands are the ones that suddenly sweep you off your feet as he insists that he carries you under the threshold while you laugh and tell him that you aren’t even married, yet you drape your arms around his neck anyways while he grins and carries you into the house, humming the wedding march over your giggling. His laughter is warm as you both try to put together your brand new furniture but end up making more mistakes than you can count and having to tilt the manual this way and that to try and figure out the correct way to put it together. You’ve got the instruction manual in your face as you hold up a piece of the drawers you’re trying to build and Young K looks from the piece in your hand to what he has in his and he laughs then tries once more, realizing he had the wrong part. You work on it for so long that you begin to hand each other the tools they would need without even needing to speak a word, a habit you both found out long ago in your relationship that sometimes freaked the boys out. When you eventually get it right you happily collapse and sprawl out on the living room floor, Young K wraps his arms around you as you tell him that there’re still more things to put together but he only pulls you closer, placing a kiss on your lips before he tells you “Babe, we’ve got all the time in the world, you’re stuck with me now. No turning back.” his tone is teasing but you can see the slight trepidation in his eyes but you don’t allow it to linger as you cuddle into his arms and soothe him “Good, because we’ve gotta put the wardrobe together tomorrow and I can’t do it alone.” and the look he gives you is so filled with love that you think about how much you adore this man.
Wonpil is playing in the rain, he’s the childish innocence and playfulness that brightens and brings life into the dull day but he’s also the unexpected warmth that you find hidden beneath the wet and the cold. His hands are the ones that lead you in a dance in the rain to a tune in his head and you follow, allowing him to take you anywhere to his hearts content and despite being in the pouring rain you couldn’t feel warmer next to your beautiful ray of sun. His hands are also the ones that help ease you into a nice hot bubble bath, his touch is completely innocent when he joins you in the tub and lovingly massages your shoulders. Afterwards, his fingers run through your hair gently as he lathers shampoo into your locks and allows you to wash his hair in return, relaxing completely into your hands as you touch him. His laughter is bright when you dance in the rain, twirling around with no care in the world as you both get soaked to the bone in the freezing cold rain, but you find so much warmth and comfort in each other’s embrace that you can’t bring yourselves to care about the cold and you simply focus on the happiness of the moment, taking the time to store the memory away in your heads to look back in fondly. His voice is also soft when he draws you close in the bathtub, pressing soft kisses to the top of your head as you enjoy your time together in the tranquil atmosphere, only getting out of the tub when the water began to get cold. His gentle hands take you with him and wrap you up warm in a towel, still humming a sweet tune that keeps you delightfully relaxed in his arms - enticing a soft laugh from the man when he feels you completely relax and lean into his hold. “You okay, babe?” He’d ask, only for another soft peal of laughter to escape him when you nuzzle into his chest with a hum, you arms circling him as you cheesily mumble that he was your personal ray of sun.
Dowoon is the pleasure of curling up in a thick fluffy blanket during the cold winter, a cup of cocoa in your hands as you both sit in front of the fireplace, listening to the soft crackle of the flames as the sweet drummer gently tugs you to sit between his legs so he can offer you more warmth and wrap around you as much as possible. His hands are soothing as they gently tap rhythms on the tops of your thighs, sometimes wandering upwards to massage circles into your hips, causing you to completely relax into him, a soft sigh leaving your lips as your eyes flutter shut and you lean your head back onto his shoulder, unable to see the loving smile adorning your beau’s lips as he feels you melt into him. His hands are also the ones who eases your empty cup from your hands when you’re finished with your cocoa, setting it down before you relax so much that you end up accidentally dropping the mug - not that you mind, Hell, you even murmur a soft “Thank you,” before you try to completely melt into him, snuggling ever closer with a content hum. His voice is deep and soft as he murmurs into your ear not daring to speak any louder to maintain the soothing atmosphere that enveloped the two of you, he notices how his voice sends slight shivers down your spine as your subconsciously react to the timbre of his voice and warm breath fanning over your skin. It doesn’t take long for you to fall asleep in his embrace and though you fight to stay awake, the combination of the toasty environment and Dowoon’s quiet, husky words lull you to sleep and the drummer’s heart swells at the sight of your peaceful face, slightly kicking him into protective boyfriend mode as he gently scoops you up into his arms to take you to bed, a smile blooming on his face as you automatically cuddle into his chest when he lifts you up. The only time you’re nudged into consciousness is when he sets you down and you don’t feel his touch anymore and, even then, you don’t manage to wake up properly before he’s laying down and curling around you once more, kissing your forehead with a soft “Goodnight, (Y/N)…Sweet dreams,” as your eyes flutter shut once again.
