I meant to upload these a while back but never got around to doing it! I made some family OCs for the main Boom Hill gang, and planning on making some for all of them if I can help it. Miss Kappy is Keffy's grandma, and runs a bakery in Boom Hill. She's quite a sweet old lady, but when it comes to baking, she takes her job very, very seriously.

Cos is Mos and *Britty's older brother, and spends most of his time working in the mines popular in Bubble Hills. Though he isn't around much, he cares for his siblings a lot, and brings them cool stuff from the mines whenever he can. *(Britty was apparently Mos' little sister from an old Crazy Park comic. I don't think she was featured anywhere else but I included her here because why not. more family for the heck of it :) )

Mana (left) and Kappi (right)

Kappi is a stone crab inspired by Tambanokano, a giant crab born of the sun and moon from Mandaya folklore. She took on the traits of both her father and mother, and her father, the sun, detests this as he is quarrelsome and toxic, and spent many of her formative years under the sea, only coming out to visit her mother in the Moon Temple.

Mana is, unsurprisingly, a manananggal. She was very much a Normal Lady but was turned into an aswang against her will and has very blurry memories of her life prior. She had stumbled into the Moon City and was made into a god in their eyes, offering blessings and threats, replacing the moon god who had long since disappeared and no one knows where said god went. In return for blessings, they offer their offspring.

When Kappi came out of the sea to see her mother again, she sees how the city has changed and that her mother has disappeared. Only knowing how someone replaced her, she plans to kill whoever's in charge (mana) assuming they did something (she didn't)

After coming to the conclusion there was a misunderstanding, Mana decided to help Kappi go to the Solar Mountain where the sun resides because. if it wasn't this random aswang who did it. it was probably him.

Kappi's design is generally inspired by both ilokano and minandowen elements, her name coming from the word kappi, a freshwater crab. Her chest tattoos depict a temple under a night sky and a crab residing under it, and the obvious crab details like the legs around her torso and her claw pigtails. There's also the sun and moon details on her face, in reference to her ancestry.

The patterns on her clothes include a kappi symbol and a starry sky.

Mana's design is just kind of Sexy Demon Vibes, just. the filipino version. She has a black chick named pip as per aswang rules and lacks tattoos to suggest she's from the Southern Luzon area, but her manananggal nature may imply she's been elsewhere. I feel like her appearance also suggests a false queen energy, since she resembles a concubine but is somewhat adorned as nobility which. that's exactly what she is. Also the waist beads in the first picture serve the purpose of keeping her top and bottom connected because she has mild disabled vibes and her body just falls apart sometimes.

As for how I came up with these characters

I had a dream where I saw some Art of Sexy Demon Lady and Cute Pink Haired Girl doing nsfw and accidentally sent it to my family and I wanted to die, so naturally I had to make ocs from that.

How do you all choose the art style you'd use for the game? It fits so well with the game!

Thank you! We discovered Kappy (our sprite artist and the first artist we hired) through Twitter, and the same goes for most of the other artists that we brought onboard. We knew we wanted a fun and colorful style to match the romcom theme, so that’s the main thing we were looking for (and artists who draws attractive characters, of course).

Day 5: Fluff/Shiver (Attzi)

Attzi was resting on her bed, knees up, using her legs as a makeshift desk as she scribbled the day’s summary down into her notebook. Her tiny Everlook room felt very different than her home in Booty Bay; instead of salt air and the constant sound of waves, there was the silence of thick walls insulated by snow. Her bed was covered in a thick, fluffy duvet which didn’t match the flannel sheets underneath. On the far wall, a shelf held more books than was likely safe, as well as a few tattered plushies. A box by the door had half-finished projects she’d practiced with as a child in the family lab. The floor had a thick, but well-worn rug, faintly stained from art supply mishaps. Even the pajamas she was wearing were comfortably faded.

Being here didn’t make her feel like a kid again, but it did make her feel comfortable. Her home had always been a safe place to both live in, and come back to. Honestly, as old as she was, her parents could have easily converted it to a guest bedroom by now, but they had never even suggested it. Attzi knew that if necessary her room would be waiting, and her parents would be glad to have her for as long as she needed.

She was about halfway through describing being knocked off the fallen log during their snowball fight for the third time when a soft tapping sounded at her window. She tucked her pen behind her ear and clambered off the bed, taking the two steps necessary to get to the window. Pushing back the insulating curtain, she grinned at the familiar face on the other side of the glass.

Attzi pushed the window open. “Ya made it!”

“Hello again, love.” 

“How was the rest a th’ social?”

She stepped aside to allow Kappi room to climb in, which he did with far more grace than she ever had managed. He turned and shut the window behind him, then looked around the room with interest. “It was uneventful,” he replied. “A bit more talking around the fire, and then we decided it was late enough.”

“Well, all ya missed on my end was me scarin’ the fel outta Ma ‘cause I snuck in through my own window outta nostalgia.”

He stifled a laugh, looking toward the door. She grinned at him and gestured grandly at her little room.

“Welcome ta my childhood. If ya wanna get settled, I’m almost done with my notes.” 

“Take your time.” 

He set his pack down on a free bit of floor and began getting out of his snow gear. Attzi returned to the bed and kept writing. By now, Kappi was used to giving her time to write every night, and time to read over her notes every morning, so she didn’t feel rushed by his being there. She filled out another full page of shorthand before finally shutting the notebook with a snap and turning her attention to her companion.

Kappi was down to a shirt and shorts, standing by her bookshelf and idly browsing the titles. She hopped off the bed and walked up behind him, wrapping her arms around his middle and resting her chin on his shoulder. “Didja really haveta brush up against my legs like that in front a Burnie? I think he thought ya grabbed my ass underwater.”

Kappi chuckled. “Sorry. I could not resist.”

She kissed his cheek. “We’re supposed ta be professional around coworkers.”

“And I believe we usually are.” He tilted his head and smirked at her.

Attzi giggled and pulled away, taking him by the shoulder and heading for bed. “C’mon. I’m sleepy an’ I wanna cuddle.”

He followed without protest.

Her bed was barely big enough for both of them, but once they were settled in under the covers and she had her forehead pressed to his chest, one arm draped across his waist, it was cozy and warm. It wasn’t like they needed much space, anyway, with how they slept. Attzi stifled a yawn and closed her eyes, hooking a leg with one of his and enjoying the feeling of having Kappi close. Somehow, it made her childhood safe space feel even safer.

Ugh Jake- Still so sad that he was a scratch when I went to Columbus. I had a whole sign made for him and everything that said "Hey Jake! Your milkshakes bring all the boys to the yard and they're like, 'wanna trade with me?'". I feel like he's definitely an obvious one for me.

Kappy my boy- literally will throw a party every time he scores. Love him <3

I am so Pro-Kent Parson. Like gimme gimme. I want everything about him- fan art, fics, etc. Give it to me. And Owen Pickering ugh. Patiently waiting for the day he plays his first NHL game.
