I want to show off the drawings of my Players Characters I've made so far.
Tumblr media
From left to right we have: Lestat Manaan/Paktu, played by my Wife Malk, Lestat are a Computer scientist and cybernetics engineer, that helped develop Karan S'jets Mothership interface system. They have been reassigned to Salvage corvette duty and ultimately Selim Station, as punishment for having rigged the cryo-candidate lottery to ensure a place for their mother.
Zahira S'jet, played by the ever amazing Cyborg Necromancer, Zahira is a forensics expert and used to help solve crimes in the streets of Tiir. She made her way to Hiigara as a sleeper. Upon waking she was reassigned to Selim Station for ruffling some feathers within her immediate leadership.
Aurey S'jet, played by the talented Runic Knight,
Aurey is a hotshot Pilot speedfreak. If it's fast she fleis it. if it isn't she'll push it until it does. one of her achievments flying the scout vessels being, to gauge out how long you can push the speed booster beyond recommended use times in critical situations - without exploding. She lost her left arm during the mission within Karos graveyard, due to no fault of her own. Ever since she has developed a drinking problem and is still trying to get used to her new arm. Her Assignment on Selim Station is seen as a good oppportunity for recovery.

The songs "Ikk Kudi" and "Vida Karo" stand as poignant examples of how art can transcend time and medium, bridging the worlds of literature and music. Both tracks are deeply rooted in the poetic legacy of Shiv Kumar Batalvi, a revered figure in Punjabi literature renowned for his evocative verses that delve into the complexities of human emotions.
In "Ikk Kudi," the hauntingly beautiful melody coupled with soul-stirring lyrics captures the essence of Batalvi's poem, which explores the innocence and vulnerability of a young woman navigating the complexities of life. The song's evocative imagery and heartfelt emotions mirror Batalvi's own introspective exploration of identity and societal expectations.
Similarly, "Vida Karo" the song written by Irshad Kamil has been inspired from a poem by Shiv Kumar Batalvi. His poem, Mainu Vida Karo, echoes his profound reflections on the transient nature of existence and the inevitability of parting. Through its melancholic melody and poignant lyrics, the song captures the bittersweet essence of love and separation, drawing listeners into a world of longing and nostalgia reminiscent of Batalvi's poetic universe.

Rorschach Inkblots in Rebellion
Tumblr media
When Sayaka confronts Homura at the end of Rebellion, a series of abstract images--five in all--flash across the screen as Homura explains herself. These are reminiscent of the famous Rorschach inkblots, a series of drawings used as a projective test by twentieth-century psychologists. Given all of the other references in the film to German literature, philosophy, psychoanalysis--from Freud's "Fort/Da!" to Nietzche's "Gott ist Tot!" and Eternal Recurrence" to Goethe's "Eternal Feminine", and the entirety of E.T.A. Hoffmann's The Nutcracker and the Mouse King--it's not surprising that Rebellion would go here, as the Rorschach test was a popular method of measuring the unconscious mind in psychoanalysis and thus fits perfectly with the film's established themes.
However, when I looked a little closer, I noticed that the cards in the film don't match any of the original ten cards in the system (i.e., the ones most commonly associated with the test).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Card #7 (left) and Card #9 (right) of the main Rorschach series, from Wikipedia.
As you can see from the sample above, the original ten Rorschach cards are either all black and white or all colored, but not both, unlike the "hybrid" cards in Rebellion. Why is that? And what do they mean?
Tumblr media
I did some more digging, and it turns out that although it's fallen out of fashion in the United States since its peak in the 1960s, the Rorschach test is extremely popular in Japan, where it's used for everything from personality analysis to marriage counseling. In addition to the modified Rorschach systems created by Western psychologists like Samuel Beck and Bruno Klopfer, there are a number of uniquely Japanese systems, including the Karo Inkblot test by Yasufumi Kataguchi, so it's possible that these images in Rebellion are part of one of these systems.
However, because the whole point of these inkblot tests is that the subject's reaction should be spontaneous, the cards in these systems are generally not released/revealed publicly, making it difficult to prove their origins way or the other. So what then?
Tumblr media
Ironically, that brings us right back around to projection! Since we the audience have no way of knowing what these images are supposed to mean, we have to construct the meaning out of these abstractions for ourselves, just like a real Rorschach test--which says as much about who we are and what we value as the image itself.
Tumblr media
But let us not forget the greater context. As these images flash across the screen, they are accompanied by Homura's voiceover, declaring, (in the official English translation), "I am now an existence known as 'Evil'". Coupled with the abstract images, it suggests a certain level of moral ambiguity--is Homura truly evil or is this a role she has adopted in order to achieve her goals?
Tumblr media
In a projective test, there are no right or wrong answers, only the limits of our imaginations and circumstances--paralleling the work of literary analysis and criticism. The genius of Rebellion is that, like the Rorschach test itself, the film provides no definitive answers to many of the questions that it raises, leaving the audience to decide how to interpret them--and even goes to the trouble of providing us these visual cues in order to emphasize the point.

What could be a better choice for my first drawing of the year than the Happiness Pokémon?
This one's another OC mon, belongs to Karo (full name Caroline Swiftgale but that's a mouthfull), her trainer was a show flyer and the Togetic was training to join the show once it evolved, before Caroline had an accident and gave up that life. Now the little critter is busy trying to cheer its trainer up :')

15 questions for 15 mutuals
1. Are you named after anyone?
Not exactly, my initials were made to match my mom's- A.K. She also says that she liked how Karo corn syrup was spelled and made my middle name Kara because of it.
2. When was the last time you cried?
Saturday morning when my husband woke me up at 2:45a and I knew I had to get up at 4:30a for work and couldn't go back to sleep.
3. Do you have kids?
FOUR! Aged 11 to 18.
4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?
You bet!
5. What sports do you play/have you played?
No. Just no. I run into things. And drop things. I'm severely lacking in cat-like grace.
6. What’s the first thing you notice about other people?
General condition, like pale, sweaty, swollen, red. But I do also notice people's veins a lot.
7. Scary movies or happy endings?
Happy endings! I really do not like scary movies at all and never have.
8. Any special talents?
I'm oddly good at putting down NG tubes.
9. Where were you born?
A little town in coastal Georgia, US.
10. What are your hobbies?
I play video games, obviously. Read. Crochet.
11. Do you have any pets?
Lucy, the chocolate chunk lab.
12. How tall are you?
5 ft 3 in
13. Fave subject in school?
Chemistry. Microbiology, specifically the mechanisms of how antibiotics work.
14. Dream job?
Hermit-like witch that brews potions from things grown in her own lush, extensive garden, that magically doesn't require exposure to heat and bugs to maintain. Hey. It said dream!
Actually, I probably should have gone to pharmacy school to work in pharmaceutical R&D.
15. Eye colour?
Very dark brown, look black unless you're within arms length.
Thanks to @nocturnalazure, @pixelatedpretties, and @drawing-way-outside-the-lines for tagging me!
As usual, I'm late to the party, so if you feel froggy consider yourself tagged!

Chapter Three- Abdul
I sat in the palace gardens, sketching the flowers of a karo vine. The white blossoms were hard to capture, as there was something about them that was ethereal, especially at night.
But I kept trying to draw them, day after day, night after night. They were beautiful, and said to be touched by the Goddess of Light herself. Personally, I thought they looked more like the creation of the Goddess of the Veil, ethereal, on the other side of life. Either way, they were beautiful, and had caught the eye of some of our most talented artists.
At least the ones who had moved to The Split with the war party.
That was one strange thing about the beautiful flowers. They only grew here, in the desert city.
Some said it was because the desert city had been the nexus of the Demon Wars, and the flowers grew from the blood of the unholy creatures who had been killed here.
I thought the answer was most likely in the soil.
I looked at the little flowers. With their five petals, they looked like stars that had fallen to earth. I looked down at my paper.
It looked like a pointy starfish.
I threw the paper onto the bench and leaned back, sighing. I missed the sea. Everything was so dry here, and it was all in shades of brown, and yellow. Even the palace was made of sandstone, and it was a dull orange-brown.
I missed blue, and green. Back home, those colours were everywhere. We were known as the Kingdom of Tears, for the blue flowering vines that grew up the tree, with their teardrop blossoms. I had heard the lesson enough times from Doro, and from my father.
I heard footsteps approaching and sat up, looking down the path. It was my brother, Arim. He sat down beside me on the bench, glancing at the paper I had thrown down. “Still trying to draw the karo, little brother?”
I smiled. “It’s become a bit of a habit.”
We laughed, and Arim hugged me. “I didn’t expect you back until next week. What happened?” I asked. Arim was always away, fighting the rebels with his legion. I hoped that the soldiers had not been killed, for they were our elite.
“Well, we were in the middle of a battle, and suddenly the rebels just seemed to melt away. They got away somehow in the Trenches, and we couldn’t find them again.”
The Trenches were a network of canyons that branched off from ravaine that gave The Split its name. They were much smaller than the main rift, but there were so many of them that they all overlapped and connected into a huge, confusing labyrinth. I could understand how the rebels might have escaped into the maze.
“I’m just glad you’re alright, Arim. I worry about what could happen to you, fighting the rebels”
He just shrugged. “Don’t worry, little brother. I can take care of myself.”
I picked up the paper, glancing over at the flowers. “Father will be so glad you’re back. There were sightings of rebels in the city today, and they stole two bags of weapons and food from one of our storehouses.”
Arim’s eyebrows shot up. “A storehouse? How on earth did they know where to raid? I thought the locations were secret”
“I thought so too. It’s possible they got lucky, but what are the odds?”
Arim sighed. “Not very high. If they had information, it can mean only one thing.”
I held my breath, knowing what he was going to say, but not wanting to hear it.
“Abdul, there must be a spy in the palace.”
