The Martand Sun Temple, Kashmir
Dedicated to Lord Surya, Hinduism's principal sun god; Surya Dev is also recognized through his Sanskrit name Martand.
It was made by King Lalitaditya in around 5th Century A.D. and it was destructed by Muslim ruler Sikander Butshikan, under the advice of Sufi preacher Mir Muhammad Hamadani. It is believed that the was so strongly built that it took many days for its destruction.

The temple has a colonnaded courtyard, with its primary shrine in its center and surrounded by 84 smaller shrines, stretching to be 220 feet long and 142 feet broad total and incorporating a smaller temple that was previously built.
The primary shrine is located in a centralised structure (the temple proper) that is thought to have had a pyramidal top - a common feature of the temples in Kashmir. Various wall carvings in the antechamber of the temple proper depict other gods, such as Vishnu Ji and river goddesses, such as Mata Ganga and Mata Yamuna, in addition to the sun-god Surya Dev.

Day changes into night and night into day. Sensation of four seasons suddenly were equal for them.
In those valleys, once vocals of Henzae used to be sung. All four seasons had their vivid colors. Colour of snow turned into red. Leaves lost their colors a while ago. The soil was tainted with brown, it started giving warmth in the winter.
Thrown out from their houses, shops, temples.
The place which was once called as a Land of sun, was torched, set ablaze ruthlessly. The place which was popular for it's silence, calmness instead, Screaming, seeking help to live or to die, for mercy could be heard.
Bodies of children were lying here and there, naked lying, living body without a soul of a woman, several man were tied to their home at threshold place and burnt alive. A skull of little girl ruptured in two parts by a bullet.
The eyes had seen terror of death and lost the survival instinct.
It's a place after so many years, soil, walls and snow tells a tale. A tale of horror and havoc which can shatter, break a living soul into pieces.
So many innocents were killed, burnt mercilessly. What had been lost first by a five year boy, his tongue or when his eyes were taken out alive, Voice or sight?
Who died first or wanted to?
When a women raped by several times in front of his husband or her brother or her father. Dignity of a woman or a courage of a man? At first there soul died with non acceptance to live a little longer.
They had lost everything but not forgotten.
Those feelings were not dead. Those eyes might not able to see but they have a vision. Those bodies might be cremated but those souls are not failed. They all want to go back, to see the real color of snow, soil and those walls.
"Exodus of kashmiri pandits". It's not an end. It's the beginning.

A note: I know annoying Desis are going to see this and go "Oh but Kashmir is Pakistan's because-" and "Kashmir is an integral part of India because-". I must make my stance clear: Kashmir belongs to the Kashmiris, the natives, no matter what religion they belong to. Neither Pakistan nor India get to decide the matter of Kashmiri sovereignty. The reasons given by both parties as to why Kashmir should be a part of either nation are bullshit. The United Nations itself recognises Kashmir as a disputed region, so I will not entertain dumbfuckery. I highly encourage fellow Indians especially to take the time to go through and properly understand the violence the government enacts on Kashmiris. I've also included links to learn more about Kashmiri culture because really, what do the rest of us know about it? Culturally and linguistically Kashmir differs so much from the rest of India and Pakistan (also the amount of fetishization of Kashmiri women...yikes). This is not just a bilateral issue between these two nations over land, this actually affects the people of Kashmir. And if you're still here, thank you for reading
