i’ve now officially played all the main assassins creed games and i don’t know what emotions i’m feeling but i’m Feeling them jesus christ. i love these games so much
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
thoughts on each assassin;
altair: legend, the goat, the man who set the standard, i’d have been a bigger asshole about being demoted to find out my master betrayed the order
ezio: i can see why he’s a fan favorite and i love him, iconic, unlimited rizz, he should have killed rodrigo borgia
ratonhnhaketon: that’s my fucking son, he makes me feral, he did not deserve all the torment he endured, i’ll never be over him, that’s the love of my life, the bestest boy i’m about to replay this game
aveline: baddest bitch this side of the bayou, a woman who knows how to play a part/role, but god they did her game dirty the menus looked like shit (we’re birthday twins 👯‍♀️ so bonus points)
edward: tripped his way into becoming an assassin but he has a good heart, very fun character (should have let james kids peg him, it would have fixed him made him worse ❤️)
adawale: i like him but idk a single thing about him bro. he was a slave, became edward’s quartermaster, joined the assassins and then went sailing to help free other slaves. time jump to rouge and he’s a legendary assassin
*bites ubisoft bites ubisoft bites ubis* they also did him dirty with his game (they fucking released it as dlc? boy what, this is a whole different protagonist)
shay: i have a lot of feelings about shay. most of them being fuck you but i do see his point. achilles did need to be knocked down a couple pegs but defecting to the templars was a little extreme. he does hold loyalty and honesty in high regard so i guess he’s ok.
arno: he’s just some guy but he’s my guy, literally swore an oath with little to no intention of keeping it 💀 but he was absolutely right for that. just wanted to live in peace but he never gets a break
jacob and evie: i haven’t quite sorted out my feelings yet, but they’re ambitious and dedicated. hate that evie is meant to clean up jacobs “messes” instead of having them work together. especially with henry there to help put both of their ambitions together to make plans achievable goals. do love henry and evie tho, very cute. the jack the ripper dlc solidified my love for them. they’re siblings and they’ll always be there for each other 😭
bayek and aya: the first assassins creed game i ever played. still a fave, still grieve for them, the couple of all time. i love both of them so much, they may have grew apart as lovers but they still had each other no matter what 😭❤️
kassandra: *incoherent screaming* fuck sparta fuck the cult. love her to pieces she’s so funny and she’s hot. like how can you not like her. (depending on your ending) glad to see the family back together. maybe time does heal all wounds.
eivor: i devoured the game when it came out (i completed it in like three weeks shcjmskf) and honestly, i don’t remember shit about it at this point. eivor is not an assassin idgaf. she’s a warrior and she will ride or die for her clan. and she’s hot

The Long Journey Home
Tumblr media
With the release of Origins, the Assassin’s Creed series moved away from the tried and true formula that was synonymous with the title. Odyssey continues to buck the trend of telling a linear story with the main objective of assassinating renowned historical figures by giving player’s choice and having their decisions reverberate later on. In this iteration, Ubisoft has delved deeper into the role-playing genre, providing players with branching endings and even allowing them to choose the main protagonist.
In my playthrough, I selected Kassandra. The canon choice. And also because after Avaline, Evie and Shao Jun (from Assassin’s Creed Chronicles China), this was a rare opportunity to play a female lead.
Just like Origins before it, Odyssey gives players a massive open world to explore. This is not just a single city. Oh no. But an experience built upon traversing the entirety of the Greek Islands as you set out on finding your family and dealing with pesky cultists along the way. Cast as a misthios, it is also infinitely easier to be pulled into the affairs of hard-on-their-luck civilians. Especially with the promise of drachmae. I spent countless hours helping out the people of Greece, proving myself a greedy war profiteer with no thought on who was to the win (though it was Sparta that was ultimately victorious - following on from actual history with regards to the Peloponnesian War).
The game, just like the last one, starts in the middle of battle. And when using Ancient Greece as a setting, there can only be one true starting point even if the actual game is st several years afterwards. As the screen fades in, you take control of King Leonidas during his final stand at the Battle of Thermopylae.
Through this iconic moment of history, players are able to become accustomed to combat and taste the power that will come after twenty or thirty hours of play time. Unfortunately, there were no great proclamations such as ‘This is Sparta!’
Alas.
Once the battle draws to a close and the great king is slain, the game opens with Kassandra preparing for the day ahead on the island of Kephallonia. From there, it’s a hop, skip and jump into the main story that was both a personal journey of heading home and the distractions that befell our chosen hero. Like the great Odysseus, Kassandra’s quest to reunite her family is not as simple as it may first appear. The presence of the Cult of Kosmos and the hint of a greater destiny involving Those that Came Before provides a steady drip feed for lore enthusiasts.
What surprised me, during the ending, was the revelation that the Cult of Kosmos was actually a force of chaos. Though many reviews drew parallels that the cult were proto-templars before the events of Origins, in actual fact, Kassandra (or Alexios) are actually trying to bring peace and stability to a world that has been fractured by infighting. As players soon learn, chaos and order are two parts of the same coin. A balance needs to be achieved. And with it, a new hero needs to arise to set things right.
The world of Ancient Greece is rich in things to do. But it is also steeped in myths and legends. The tales of Perseus, Theseus and Herakles are considered great feats that are considered fact instead of fiction. One of the main missions that players are presented with is sealing off the city of Atlantis. In order to do so, several artefacts need to be collected from monstrous creatures. Each one is a challenge for the unwary - from the Minotaur to a Gorgon to a Cyclops and a Sphinx.
In the vibrant world that Odyssey builds, the Gods themselves are also a part of life. What amused me greatly was the fact that the Cult named your long-lost sibling Deimos (one of the twin sons of Ares) and the player character names their horse Phobos (the second twin). There was lot of inter-connectivity within the game that warmed the cockles of my myth-loving heart.
That is not to say that actual historical characters were absent. In her long journey, Kassandra encounters a colourful cast from sophists such as Sokrates to eager politicians in the making: Alkibiades. As players are able to choose who they wish to romance, I made my disinterest quite clear.
All in all, I enjoyed my hundred plus hours with Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Ancient Greece was a delightful sandbox to dive into with many things to uncover - especially historical locations. To sweeten the deal, the game is gorgeous. While I did experience the occasional stutter, these were mere surface blemishes considering the behemoth-like size of my experience.
Though it will not be gracing our consoles next year, this blogger will still be eagerly looking forward to where the franchise takes us next.

Alright it's time to get started on Kassandra! My goal for this cosplay is to see how many materials I can use that are authentic to the time period aka 5th century BCE Sparta- I won't get it perfect but I wanna see how much I can do! So first off I'm starting with textile components of the cosplay and seeing what I can already use! 1) for the tunic I'll be using my white unbleached linen tunic that I wear for reenactment. It's a standard material done in a simple weave and would have been pretty accessible kit for a mercenary. I'll bind it up under my arms for wearing it under the armour, and I'll wear my simple borne leather belt under the rest of the kit. 2) this is my material for the cloak and material components under the gauntlets etc. The cloak material is wool with a red colour resembling madder dye. I also used it for a soldiers tunic for reenactment! It works well for a mercenary because it's a very rough material, used in the time period, and would have been a cheap and accessible dye. This is different from the red linen also pictured which is more similar to cochineal (actual Tyrian purple or the iconic Spartan red). This would be a lot harder to come by hence why I'll only be making smaller pieces out of it- a mercenary wouldn't be getting this easily! I'll update later on the leather and metal!

Assassins’ Creed Odyssey Review
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
Sparta!!! Yes, a lot of people will shout this when playing the game, especially when performing the iconic Spartan Kick. Assassins’ Creed returns with Assassins’ Creed Odyssey and this time we go even further back than Origins, about 400 years before in fact, the setting is in Greece during the Peloponnesian War between Athens and Sparta.
One of the biggest things people will think is how cliché is it doing a Greek Mythology setting? Well I’m happy to report that the game does not feel clichéd at all, it feels fresh yet familiar and having the two protagonists helps as well. We had an interesting interview with the script writer of Odyssey Daniel Bingham and you can listen to the interview here.
You can choose to play as Kassandra or Alexios siblings and part of Leonidas’ bloodline, their journey will take them all over Greece to uncover some secrets, understand the war (Even tipping the scales) and ultimately trying to find the staff of Hermes. In the present, you play as Layla Hassan who uncovered the spear of Leonidas and tying this into the animus reveals the DNA of the two protagonists and making you choose which path to follow.
As with all the AC series, the game is very tied to historical stuff, but the writing was done superbly to make it fresh and feeling new. Naval battles have also returned from Black Flag and add a lot of enjoyment to the game. The map is huge, and you can easily get lots in just one province for days exploring, doing side quests and just checking the scenery.
You can partake in the war between Athens and Sparta and there is a War System that controls this in the game. You can influence the outcome of the war in regions and this will also affect how the region reacts to you.
The RPG elements of Odyssey is the best yet in the series. With your equipment, you can equip different kinds of weapons and armour, upgrade them, dismantle them, sell them or go to a blacksmith to engrave enhancements on them, on an open slot, to improve the weapon. You unlock new engravings in different ways, like progressing further in the story, levelling up or doing quests.
On the ability/skill side, you now have more freedom on what you can upgrade and what you want to focus on, apart form unlocking new abilities or skills you can also upgrade some to a better level. There are three major sections, Hunter, Warrior and Assassin. Some abilities/skills can drastically improve gameplay so choosing what to unlock/upgrade first can count a lot to your journey.

Assassins’ Creed Odyssey is quickly becoming my favourite release in the series so far. It has everything that fans ask for great improvements, return of favourite gameplay, new gameplay and lots of options and a massive map. A great contender for Game of the Year![/vc_column_text][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”31981,31982,31983,31984,31985,31986,31987,31988,31989,31990″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]

Ubisoft E3 2018 Press Conference (Part 2)
Transference VR
Elijah Wood from SpectreVision then took to the stage to introduce the collaboration they have been working on with Ubisoft Montreal. Designed to be played in VR, the trailer seemed incredibly intense as you explore the puzzles of a deranged mind. The game releases before the end of 2018 on PS4, Xbox One and PC. Check it out the trailer above and decide if the game is for you …
Starlink Battle for Atlas
youtube
Next up, Ubisoft presented an update on the toys-to-life title first shown at E3 2017. Remember it, the modular spacecraft you attach to your controller? Anyway, the main focus of the presentation this year was a Star Fox crossover. Fox will make an appearance as the long standing relationship between Ubisoft with Nintendo continues but note it’s an exclusive for the Nintendo Switch version. A full hands-on demo is available at the Ubisoft booth so we’ll be sure to take a look and let you know our thoughts. Starlink Battle for Atlas is due out on 16th October 2018.
For Honor
youtube
Next up were a couple of announcements heading to For Honor. First up, if you haven’t played For Honor – the PC starter edition is available for free from UPlay between 11th – 18th June.
youtube
Secondly, in the biggest and most ambitious update so far, For Honor: Marching Fire, will introduce fighters from the Wu Lin faction. The update will also include a new 4v4 PvP mode called Breach, in which attackers try to storm a castle, while the opposition defend it for all their worth. The gameplay trailer above shows the new mode in action. For Honor: Marching Fire will be available on 16th October 2018.
The Crew 2
With its release only a matter of weeks ago it was no surprise that The Crew 2 got a quick mention. We were treated to a new trailer showing the planes, boats, motorcycles and cars that will feature in the game including a scene featuring a Redbull F1 car driving down the strip in Las Vegas. There is an open beta coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC on 21st June – register now. The full game is due for release on 29th June 2018.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
youtube
We were then shown the first trailer for the recently confirmed Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Set in Ancient Greece during the middle of the Peloponnesian War it takes place a few hundred years after the events of Assassin’s Creed Origins. The story of Odyssey will be played against the backdrop of the conflict between Sparta and Athens, leading players to visit iconic locations like Delos, Mykonos, and Attica.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey has been in development for the last 3 years with the aim of transforming Assassin’s Creed into an epic RPG experience. Right from the start you get to choose your character Alexious or Kassandra and you then play that character for the entire game. There are opportunities to interact with history as we’re shown a demo that includes Sokrates and Kassandra having a conversation where you make choices that can influence the course of history! There’s a playable demo on the showfloor at E3 so we’ll be sure to give it a go and let you know what we think. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is out on 5th October 2018 and is available to preorder right now.
